T61 yellow devices in device manager

hello, i hope someone can help me
i installed xp and i am getiing the following devices with a yellow flag in device manager
biometric coprocessor
network controller
pci device
pci memory controller
unknown device
i try running system update  and it gets an error
networking does work though and i can go to lenovo's site
is there a magic file that will fix this
thanks
Steve

I would recommend to download Lenovo System Update that should fix most of the missing drivers. If you still have any missing drivers after updating the driver with system update you could post again, but i'm sure the list should be shorter then.
You can find system update here:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/tvsu-update.html
(version 3.14 is for XP)
Optionally you can download and install each driver manually from here:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/homeLenovo.do
(select you system and you should be given a list of drivers for your computer. Since you didn't specify the type/model of your T61 i couldn't give you the correct direct link)
- "biometric coprocessor" is the fingerprint software
- "network controller" might be the wireless adapter
- "pci memory controller" should be fixed with the chipset drivers i think
- "unknown device" need the hardware ID found in device manager to say what this is
- pci device could be the Intel AMT driver or modem drivers....not 100% sure

  • My dvd drive not recognized in device manager, getting the yellow explanation mark.

my dvd drive not recognized in device manager, getting the yellow explanation mark. Tried uninstallingdevice drive and scanning for new hardware. scanned for updates, etc. I getting no results. The laptop is a Pavilion DV5. Thanks

    Hi,
It could be that the drive has a Hardware issue, but try the following.
From the Start Menu, open All Programs, open Accessories, right click the Command Prompt and select 'Run as Administrator'.  In to the prompt type the following command and hit enter.
sfc /scannow                 ( note that there is a space between sfc and the / )
Let the process complete, then type exit and hit enter.
Next, open Device Manager, right click the DVD drive and select Uninstall.  When this has completed, restart the notebook and let Windows rediscover the device and check.

  • Report on Yellow Bang in Device Manager

Is there a query or report I can use in ConfigMgr 2007 that will list all systems with a Yellow Bang (or UNKNOWN device) in Device Manager? Is that collected as part of Hardware Inventory?
    Thanks!
    --Joe.
    --Joe.

You should actually be able to use the data in Win32_PNPEntity -- Nick wrote a script for it at
    http://t3chn1ck.wordpress.com/2011/03/30/script-to-check-devices-without-drivers/
I don't remember if this class is collected by hardware inventory by default or not but it would be easy to add and then create queries and/or reports from the collected data.

  • Microsoft ISATAP and 6to4-Adapter yellow triangles in device manager

    Hello,
we´ve disabled IPv6 via Registry. Now we noticed that the ISATAP and 6to4-Adapter have yellow triangles in device manager. My question is: is that normal behavior, when disabling IPv6? Can we remove this adapters without no issues? Or schould we install
    drives (which)?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
This adapter is used to transfer IPv6 site to IPv4 site, if you disable IPv6, this adapter is useless.
You can directly delete is if you don't need it anymore.

    Hi

I have try to reinstall the drivers from c:\progamfiles\common files\apple\... but the problem persist. Could you help anyone about this ?

You need to completely uninstall iTunes from your computer and then download and install it again.
You do know that Microsoft has a web site, right?

  • Ipod not recognized. yellow ! mark shows up under device manager

I have acquired a 30gig 5 g ipod. I also had an ipod mini that worked perfectly but was stolen. When my ipod is plugged in, it doesnt appear under " my computer". I did find it under the device manager but it has a yellow ! mark beside it. I also found that when i plugged in my other storage devices (flash drive, sandisk) that normally worked, also share the same problem as my ipod. What does this ! mark mean? i havent been able to figure it out and amy direction that someone would be able to share would be most appreciated. Thank you for your time in reguards to this subject and make it a great day!

Almost certainly your drivers for usb/firewire (whichever you're using) are screwed. Try ininstalling then reinstalling the hardware. You don't have to actually remove anything, you're just telling windows to forget hardware, then asking it to detect any hardware it didn't know about, and install it.

  • Satellite Pro A120-145: yellow exlamation mark in the device manager

    Hi all,
I have a Satellite Pro A120-145 running Win Xp Pro fully patched and up to date, I have a yellow exlamation mark against "serial" in non plug and play in device manager (when i click show hidden devices).
Could anyone tell me which driver is needed for this? I don't want to use the recovery disc as I have done a custom install to get rid of excess baggage which is included on the disc.
    thanks in advance.

That troubleshooting guide that Juan28 posted is really good. If the driver of the unknown device is already available (i.e. after the recovery CD installation) you might find your way through.
In case you can't locate a suitable driver for your unknown device on your Laptop, you could try and download a freeware called "Unknown Device Identifier" from this site:
    http://www.zhangduo.com/udi.html
This program will allow you to locate the device ID and make a search with it on the Internet.
Hope this will sort things out.

  • Satellite A60-S1591ST: yellow exclamation marks in the device manager

    Hi,
Recently I formatted C: and installed XP professional. But after the installation, there were several problems.
First, in device manager, there are big yellow marks in SM BUS Controller, Video Controller (VGA Compatible).
    How can I fix these?
Second, when I scroll down screen side bar to read or see some contents down in a certain site, my screen is so sensitive and waves simultaneously with moving or clicking of the scroll bar. Is it related with above devices?
My notebook is Toshiba Satellite A60-S1591ST, XP pro with SP2
I don't know how to recognize the model of motherboard
    thanks in advance.

    Hi
The problem can be solved very fast the yellow exclamation appears in the device manager because you didnt install the necessary drivers.
So you will now ask for the driver page ;) Am I right?
Well this is a Toshiba US notebook I think so ;)
    Check this page:
    http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_sc_modSel.jsp
Choose the Satellite A60-S1591ST and you should get all needed drivers.

  • Sound issue in WXP - one yellow ! in device manager on Equium

When installing the sound drivers it finds a modem on hih def audio, then when you reboot it throws up an error message. I rolled back the driver but still need to solve the sound problem, in device manager I have one yellow, other device, PCI device.
The sound drivers appear to be there and working, the drivers are Legacy is this right? Looks like a conflit somewhere. I dropped Vista after network problems now XP has sound problems.
    Any Ideas please

    Hi David
Ive checked your other postings created here in the forum and it seems you are a owner of Equium A100-027 PSAAQE series.
    Am I right??
First of all I would like to clarify some things.
Mostly the yellow exclamation marks appear in the device manager because something could went wrong during the driver installation procedure or you used simply a wrong drivers.
I think you should firstly find out if you used right drivers!
Please go to the Toshiba driver page and check again the driver versions and download it again.
Ive noticed that many users download the wrong drivers and try to install it.
On the Toshiba page you will find also the installation instruction. There are 2 txt files available.
One for XP and one for Vista.
Please be sure that you use the right installation instruction for the right OS.
Then download all drivers and follow the installation order mentioned in the txt file!
Usually everything should run ok and you should be able to install all drivers!
    Best regards

  • Intel WiUSB shows yellow triangle in Device Manager

Why does Device Manager show me: ---------------------------------------------------------------- Intel® WiUSB This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31) Device ROOT\UOIP_BUS_DRIVER\0000 had a problem starting. OS is Win 8. thanks

    Hey there justcurious,
Can you confirm the version of the WiDi Driver you have by chance? This may need to be udpated. I've noticed some issues around the USB-IF xHCI USB Host Controller across the forums and I wonder if they are related. Thank you!

  • SOLVED! WAN Miniport #2 yellow exclamation mark in Device Manager

This topic is to collect some information, if someone has any, about the WAN miniport #2 virtual device in Windows 8
There are many complaints but so far there has been no resolution to the problem.
Just as a heads up, since it windows doesn't allow you to uninstall it I tried to delete it through registry and lost the ability to see any networks while the hardware itself was recognized and working.
EDIT: The **bleep** thing is out! Had to call excorcist in jk..
Anyway, I want kudos for this, now.
Found the solution following this link: http://oyam.ca/blog/2011/11/windows-miniports.html
FIne gentleman who runs it had a tip waiting for us, summary is below:
To do this, DO NOT edit the registries. There are number of other registry keys that depend on the miniports being present, and it is super easy to completely break the network stack, to a point where the base network card driver won’t work. (If you did this already, let’s hope your system has restore points — you can restore to previous snapshot and try doing it the non-registry way outlined there.) When doing this, take a note of the miniports that you are removing, you’ll need to know this later when reinstalling.
So, to remove each non-working miniport, do the following:
Right click on the non-working miniport, choose “Update Driver”.
        Choose “Browse my computer”.
In the next window, choose “Let me pick driver from a list”.
Uncheck “Show compatible hardware”. From the “Manufacturer” list, choose “Microsoft”, and from the “Network Adapter” list, choose “MAC Bridge Miniport”. (It can be any device the user is allowed to uninstall.) *here I chose the first entry, Generic Broadband device driver.
Back in the device manager, delete the device that just turned into the “MAC Bridge Miniport” device.
Once done removing the bad miniports, reboot. Don’t skip this, it’s important. Otherwise there is a change things will go bad again.
And it works!!! Rebooted two times just to be sure.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I'm glad you've found a solution, however, when I go inte the Network Adapter List, I do not have the option of choosing "MAC Bridge Miniport" there is no such miniport. Does anyone have an alternative I can use? Or is there some other way to Solve this problem? I'm using a Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E530.

  • Ipod 5th Generation 80 GB / Device Manager / Driver not Installed / Code 28

Well, where do I begin! Got my 1st Ipod 2 days ago & still unable to use it! I have installed & uninstalled the itunes 7 software numerous times. On phone w/ Apple for 1 hour...followed by online chat help w/ Dell.
I've tryed 4 different USB ports on my computer. The device Manager shows the Ipod w/ a ? and a ! in yellow. The add new hardware tells me, "Drivers for this device are not installed. Code 28." My computer reconizes that the ipod is plugged in, but will not do anything. There is no communication between the 2. Keeps telling me to insert cd for software for ipod.
Help! Does seem that other people are having similar issues. I think a software cd should of been provided w/ the ipod....not sure if that would of corrected my problem.

    Hi,
Click Start > All Programs > Accessories > Run. the Run dialog appears,
    Type %temp%, then click OK.
locate and enter into the HP Installation temporary folder, start with the 7Z characters.
If you can see several folders starting with 7Z, locate the latest one.
Click the Address bar area, then the full address path will appear,
Copy the full path location by clicking CTRL + P while the path is selected.
    Enter the Device Manager.
Right click the printer name with the error mark, then click Update Driver.
Select the second option to manually locate the driver.
Paste the temporary folder path and click Next (Keep Include Sub Fulders marked), the driver should be updated.
Please let me know of any change,
    Shlomi
