T61P DVD multi recorder VIBRATION issues

Does anyone else have an issue with their multi-recorder vibrating considerably when playing/accessing a DVD???? Most of the time the recorder does not cause an issue. It seems that when it plays DVD's it is working harder to read the data. Perhaps spinning faster which causes it to vibrate to the point where you can't even hear what's being played via speakers.
I have pushed/held  the front of the drive which minimises the noise but I believe it shouldn't be this noisy. Perhaps I should contact Lenovo for a replacement.... Is there an adjustment I can do myself to fix this???
Thanks in advance for your assistance

Yes, I believe there is but if I understand it correctly, it simply slows the drive down (!)  Does the vibration happen with only some DVDs or all of them?  Some of my DVDs/CDRWs that are not balanced casue this but most of them don't.

When the pc starts, the light on the DVD unit are on,
but just few seconds after they becomes off and the
    unit is unusable.
Also the BIOS does not see the unit in the start driver

Please, it there someone that can help me
Thank you in advance for your help.

    Hello Fabio,
the fact, that the drive doesn´t function in any os, regards to a hardware problem.
You can try PCDoctor or it´s aquivalent, Lenovo Tool Box, to check the healthy of your drive,
but the fact, that even the bios is not recognising it, isn´t a good sign.
I would suggest to call Lenovo support line.

  • Oracle Forms - need to update multi-record block - Help needed asap

    Hi,
We are using Oracle apps release 11i - Oracle forms 6i.
I have a field "project_start_date" in project_block in a custom form. There is another multi-record block called role_block in the same custom form and it has a field named start_date. Requirement is when ever I make change in the project_start_date in project_block, that should reflect in role_block.start_date. I tried different means and could update only the very first record of the multi-record block - role_block. I need to update all the records in the role_block with the same project_start_date. Used looping and several other methods. But could not achieve. Any help is really appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Writing waveforms from Ch. 0 of niSCOPE to binary file in a multi-record setup?

    Hello,
I am not very experienced with niSCOPE and writing waveform records, so I need some expert help here.
    Here is my application:
I am generating a pulse train using a 6602 counter/timer. Each rising edge of this pulse train triggers an niFGEN to generate a single sawtooth waveform output to another device and, at the same time, acquiring data from Ch. 0 of an niSCOPE. I am fetching one record per rising edge of the pulse train for the niSCOPE (multi-record setup).
The attached VI is where I am at thus far. All triggering and reading/fetching of the waveforms seems to be working just fine when testing with an oscilloscope. I now need to save each waveform record along with the timestamp of its rising edge trigger to a binary file. The bottom of the VI is where my attempt is at saving the waveforms to a binary file, so the attention should be there when looking at it.
I am running LabVIEW from a computer connected to the NI PXI-Chassis using a cross-over cable.
    Questions:
1.) Do I need to convert the data coming in on Ch. 0 of the niSCOPE to digital? Does it come in as analog from an oscilloscope? If I need to do this, how can I accomplish this?
2.) When I try to run an example VI to write a waveform to a binary file by choosing "My Computer" in the bottom left of the VI window, it works it saves the file just fine. When I change this to run on "PXI2", a file is not even created and I get an error on File Dialog (code# 7, I think) each time the file is attempted to be closed. This may be a stupid question, but why can I not save data to a file on my computer if running the VI on "PXI2"?
3.) Assuming the saving of each waveform to a binary file is working (read: (2) is successfully addressed), how can I also write the timestamp of the starting trigger for the waveform along with the waveform in the binary file? An example VI of how I can accomplish this would be fantastic, but I haven't been able to find one thus far.
4.) When I was messing around and trying to accomplish this, it seemed that doing this writing may slow down the entire process too much. I need to record data to the extent of the sawtooth waveform generated by the niFGEN AWG for each trigger. Is there any changes I should make to my acquisition process in the niSCOPE section so that I can read each waveform, along with keeping the timestamp for each, and write this information to a binary file?
I need to get this working quickly, so any help on this is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Thank you so much for your reply, David. Let me try and explain my
situation and setup a little better, as well as discuss the points you
made in your reply. Beware, you may want to refill your coffee as this
    post is long .
I am using an embedded controller in a PXI-1044 chassis. I now have the
chassis hooked up to our local network, and I am deploying my project
to the chassis over the network as I am also connected to the local
network. I have an oscilloscope next to me that takes as input the
pulse train for a trigger and the generated sawtooth from the niFGEN
for each trigger (rising edge of the pulse train from the 6602
counter). Just to make sure synchronization is taking place, the
sawtooth is also fed as input to the niSCOPE for acquisition.
"PXI2" is what shows up when I choose to run a VI on the PXI chassis
rather than "My Computer"; not sure why the 2 is there either, but that
is what it says. I may have tracked down the issue I was having with
writing, but more about that a little later...
The attached VI is an update, although not much has changed. My
application design is like this (keep in mind that some values for VI's
are still constants in the block diagram while others are controls on
the front panel): I am using the 6602 to generate a 1 KHz pulse train
and routing this pulse train to PXI_Trigger0/RTSI0. I am also using the
PXI_Clock (10) as a sample clock for this, and also using this same
clock as the reference clock for both the 5422 and the 5124 (as per the
synchronization help file mentioned for synchronizing multiple
devices). Both the 5422 and the 5124 are triggered by a digital rising
edge (from the pulse train) on PXI_Trigger0/RTSI0 (as it was routed
there). For each trigger, the niFGEN generates a sawtooth waveform
using a stepped trigger mode and outputs it. For each trigger, the
niSCOPE acquires data. They are both synchronous, which is tough to see
since one has its trigger source on the front panel and the other has
its trigger source on the block diagram. All devices use PXI_Clock so
    they are synchronized.
The expected behavior is to only generate a single sawtooth waveform
per trigger with a certain number of sample points. I want to acquire
the same number of samples using the niSCOPE, which is what I meant by
"the extent of the waveform" in my previous post. So, should I change
the 8192 to 1000 for the number of samples for the niSCOPE? What would
you recommend for the sampling rate? I have been using 5 MHz for the
niFGEN and 5 MHz for the niSCOPE...this is how it should be done,
correct? If it is different in the VI, please let me know. For some
reason, I have to adjust all of the values each time I open it since
the default values are not the ones I want.
I want to generate and acquire one waveform per trigger (one waveform
per record). However, I want to be able to record a large number of
records so I have enabled the circular buffer-like treatment of the
acquired waveforms. The 100 or 1000 records is actually just a number I
am giving it for now to make sure it is working before recording many
    more records.
As for saving the niSCOPE data, I would like to save all data in a
single file that is NOT ascii (to save space). I have been looking at
the HWS file format, and would like to use it. I think the attached VI
includes this at the bottom of the while loop. For each trigger, I
would like to save the time (as accurate as possible) that the trigger
occurred for the record/waveform, which appears to be (absoluteInitialX
    - relativeInitialX) as you said in your post (thanks!). I just need to
store as much information about the waveform and time information for
it as possible with the waveform in the file. So it looks like I will
need to use the wfm info for that information, providing portions of it
as waveform attributes in the HWS VI's?
What format of data do you recommend I fetch, and will I be fetching a
"Single waveform" or "Multiple waveforms"? Should I use I32, DBL, WDT,
or other for the format? A balance between good precision in values and
time it takes to fetch/record would be best.
Given all of the above, I am having one troube with saving data to a
file. As a reminder, I am deploying the project to the chassis over the
network. When I choose a location and/or file to save the HWS data to,
I only get choices that are on the PC's hard disk (such as C:\Documents
and Settings\cgifford\...) NOT the chassis's hard disk. When I choose
something other than "C:\" I get an error that the file could not be
opened. However, when I choose "C:\" everything goes fine. The saved
data is nowhere to be found on my PC though, so I am assuming that it
is being stored on the internal 60G hard disk in the chassis that must
be named "C" by default or something!?
I have been told by phone support that I should be able to make a
direct connection with the chassis just like another PC, and should be
able to access the information on its internal hard disk in a drag and
drop fashion. I however cannot directly connect to the PXI chassis to
get the data that has been saved on the hard disk. We are running
Windows XP on the PC. We did some poking around and noticed that the
chassis is not running Windows file sharing, and only has ftp and http
running. We tried to access it using ftp, but we didn't have a username
and password to supply it. So, how can we enable Windows file sharing
on the chassis? How can I connect to it to do drag and drop to get
saved waveform data off of it? This is the main problem I am now
facing. Eventually we would like to store data to an external hard disk
connected to the chassis, which assumes that I can have access to the
internal storage to tell it to save files to the external hard disk.
For now saving it to the internal hard disk is just fine until
everything is proven to work, but I would like to get the data off of
the internal hard drive to put on another computer.
Any answers/suggestions on my above questions are greatly appreciated.
I also want to thank you for reading this long post . I eagerly await
a reply. Thanks again in advance.
    Chris

  • Errors not logged when IKM Oracle Multi Record Insert is selected

    Dear All,
I am new in ODI 11g and I am facing the following problem:
I created a package with 3 Interfaces with Oracle Multi Record Insert.
In the first interface I load the source data to a temporary target
In the second interface target#1 table is loaded using interface#1
In the third interface target#2 is loaded using interface#1 and the multiple insert is executed and committed.
This works correctly, but when a data error occurs (e.g. mandatory column is null), instead of the error being logged in the Error table, execution of the last interface fails with the following error:
Caused By: java.sql.SQLIntegrityConstraintViolationException: ORA-01400: cannot insert NULL into (<schema>.<table>.<column>)
I noticed that when I use Oracle Incremental Update instead, the errors get logged correctly in the error table.
Does anyone know what could be causing this?

    Hi Bhabani,
    Thanks for the reply.
I am afraid that this is a major issue for me, I do not want to re-query the source table for each target table, but on the other hand I cannot fail the process for each invalid record and I need the logging.
Can you think of a workaround for my use case?
    Thank you!

  • Updating current record using SET_CUSTOM_PROPERTY in a multi-record form

    Hi,
I have a multi record form and am using the SET_CUSTOM_PROPERTY method in the when validate trigger of an item. The problem is that it updates all records in the form instead of updating just the current record.
Any inputs to resolve this would be helpful.
    Thanks

I cannot reproduce the issue here.
I have modified the sample dialog shipped with th article to have a block that displays 2 records
    <p>See the screenshot here</p>
Here is the code in the When-Button-Pressed trigger:
      Set_Custom_Property( 'BLZ.BEAN', 1, 'READIMGFILE', 'd:/coyote.jpg' ) ;
      Set_Custom_Property( 'BLZ.BEAN', 2, 'READIMGFILE', 'd:/oracle_community.gif' ) ;So everything is ok for me.

  • Another multi-record block question

I have always struggled with this. I have a muti-record block(10 records displayed). Eventhough my block is a db block, I have not assigned it a table. Hence, it is a non-db block. If I set enabled on a txt box, it
is enabling the entire column. I need to enable only the text box on which the cursor is/user navigated to.
    How to do it?
    Thanks,

ok..here is the explanation of the issue
in my multi-record block, there is a drop down list column with 2 values "Monthly %" and "Half-Rent". So, for example, in record 1, the drop-down could be chosen as "Monthly %" while in rec2, it could be "Half-rent". Right next to this list column, I have a text box. When the user chooses "Monthly %", the text box need to be enabled to allow keying a % value (say 5%). While in rec2, since the user chooses "Half-rent", the text box needs to be disabled for this record. How to accomplish this?

  • Multi-record report: content LOV depending on value of current row

    I have a multi-record report based on a query.
For each row in the report it should be possible to choose a value from lov.
The content of the lov is depending on a field in the current row.
Later on I will update a record based on the chosen value but that is not the
    issue right now.
The problem I am facing is that I don't know how to refer in a list to a value
    from the current row.
    For example.
In the example below it should be possible to choose (from the lov) a best buddy for
an employee. The buddy should be an other employee working for the same department.
So in the lov I must refer to the deptno from the current row. How is this possible???
    select empno
    , ename
    , deptno
    , htmldb_item.select_list_from_query
    ( 1
    , empno
, 'select ename, empno from emp where deptno = #deptno# '
    ) buddy
    from emp

    Hi Scott,
I've created this application "TestLov" at the site you mentioned.
    Application ID : 800
    Workspace Name : ANUWKSPC
The first page has an employee report with the solution as suggested by Raju Mattamal in this thread. That query seems to work fine without any errors...(I'm surprised why I'm getting errors on my application with the same query, even though data appears?! Is it to do with some setting?)
The second page has the report with my actual query. This is throwing errors.
On the third page I've tried to implement the solution you've suggested in Tips & Tricks section of HTML DB Studio(Simulating a correlated sub-query in report LOVs)
    http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=18326:54:2188928890822530056::::P54_ID:1282
This doesn't seem to work either.
I'm unable to figure out the problem.
Pls look into the application and let me know how I shld go abt this.
    Thanks in advance,

  • Is it possible to requery only a single row of a multi record block?

    Hi,
I have a data block say "Employees". This is a multi record block.
Requirement: Two users are working on the same form (front end). Now the user1 has made change for EMP1 The same is not reflected in the User2 Session. Hence i need to requery the values updated for EMP1
Issue: Since there lots of employees listed in this block. i do not want all the employees details to be required (Block requery). Instead is it possible to requery only a perticular record to be required?
    Thanks,
    Vidya

    I think not possible........
Usually Approach is the data in grid table displays as read only and when user press EDIT button then they can edit one single record in a separate window.
    ooh got one idea.......
may be create a save point and rollback to that particular save point ....... i hv never tried it but try it might solves your problem
there is a feature of Clear_form rollback to save point
    PROCEDURE CLEAR_FORM
      (commit_mode    NUMBER,
       rollback_mode  NUMBER);
    Parameters
If the end user has made changes to records in the current form or any called form, and those records have not been posted or committed, Form Builder processes the records, following the directions indicated by the argument supplied for the following parameter:
commit_mode     ASK_COMMIT  Form Builder prompts the end user to commit the changes during CLEAR_FORM processing.
DO_COMMIT  Form Builder validates the changes, performs a commit, and flushes the current form without prompting the end user.
NO_COMMIT  Form Builder validates the changes and flushes the current form without performing a commit or prompting the end user.
NO_VALIDATE  Form Builder flushes the current form without validating the changes, committing the changes, or prompting the end user.
rollback_mode     TO_SAVEPOINT  Form Builder rolls back all uncommitted changes (including posted changes) to the current form's savepoint.
FULL_ROLLBACK  Form Builder rolls back all uncommitted changes (including posted changes) which were made during the current Runform session.  You cannot specify a FULL_ROLLBACK from a form that is running in post-only mode.  (Post-only mode can occur when your form issues a call to another form while unposted records exist in the calling form.  To prevent losing the locks issued by the calling form, Form Builder prevents any commit processing in the called form.) • Editing record items in a multi-record block - 1 record at a time.

    Hello,
I have the following scenario: Currently in my multi-record block, to edit an item of a record, the user has to double click on the record to enable the 'save changes' button. However, I want to turn the navigation to all other records turned off. The only way the user should be able to edit other records is save changes first, then again double click on the desired record to re-enable the 'save changes' button (at this time navigation to all other records should be turned off). ie., the user should be able to edit 1 record at a time (At any given time, I won't be having many records in the block which the user may have to modify).
    How can this be achieved?
    Thanks,
    Chiru

That is pretty odd requirement, but this might work:
When the user double-clicks the record, enable the Save button, and set a value in any column of the record to its current value. This will cause Forms to set the record status to CHANGED, and will not permit navigation away from the record until the When-validate-record trigger runs successfully.
In the Save button, start a non-repeating timer to run maybe 20 milliseconds, then issue a Validate(Record_Scope); command. Check form_success then commit_form.
In the when-validate-record trigger: Do any record validation that may be necessary, and Raise Form_Trigger_Failure if anything is wrong. Then check for the existence of your Save button's timer. If it does NOT exist, issue a message like: "You must Save the changes first" and Raise Form_Trigger_Failure; If the timer exists, do not raise the error.

  • Querying a multi-record block within my form

I have a form where I perform validations of items entered on my main block. I compare the item value entered to an expected value and if they are different then an exception record must be created in a separate, multi-record block within my application. One record on my main block may end up with multiple different exception records in the multi-record block. As a result, part of my validation must include determining whether the user has already created an exception record for the item that I'm validating in the multi-record block.
Is there a way for me to query and uncomitted, multi-record block in my form? Help would be greatly appreciated!

    Andreas' method is good.
    Only several changes:
      LOOP... EXIT WHEN :SYSTEM.RECORD_STATUS='NEW';
    (Use NEW, not TRUE)
And just before the Raise Form_Trigger_Failure, I would Go_Item to either the item in error, or to a new line in the exceptions block. And also issue an error message.
    ....By the way...
If your exceptions block has more rows than will fit on the screen, then your search loop function will may cause the rows to jump up or down when the user tries to commit. There is a way to reset the view after the function completes its search -- you just need to store the value of the block's Top_Record property before the First_Record command, and then Go_Record(Top_Rec_value); after the function completes its loop.
Also, there is a way to prompt the user to enter the exception record when you first validate the item in a when-validate-item trigger. But the user might ignore the prompt, so you still need to re-check everything from the key-commit process. To use the WVI prompting, in the WVI trigger you check if an exception is required. If it is, store the item name in a package variable, then start a non-repeating timer. When the timer expires, save the :System.cursor_item value (so you can go_item back to it after calling the function), and then call the function to check for the exception for the item named in the package variable. If not found, prompt the user. If found, go_item back to the cursor_item_value.

I have never used the DVD multi-burner in my T61p to store or backup data on a DVD. Was a utility program or software provided with the pc that does this? • External USB enclosure for DVD Multi IV drive?

I replaced the DVD Multi IV drive (FRU 45N7451) that came with my T430s with a SATA Hard Drive Bay 9.5 mm Adapter III (FRU 43N3412) to hold a 2nd HD.
Now what to do with the DVD drive? The physical interface isn't the standard SATA connector that's used on HDs. Is there an external enclosure available for this drive from Lenovo? I don't need a DVD drive very often but for when I do it would be a lot more convenient to plug it into a USB port than to swap UltraBay devices.

To answer my own question, yes. I ordered this item and it arrived this morning. I now have a USB-connected external DVD drive that works with both my T430s and X61s, as well as other PCs. The flexibility that this gives me, e.g. to put another HD in the T430s, is well worth the small cost of the case. A single USB connection is sufficient to power the DVD drive so there's no additional cables or AC power supplies to worry about either.
The Lenovo DVD drive went into the case smoothly with the following minor issues:
    1. There is a small black plastic spacer screwed into the back of the DVD drive which I presume is used to keep the drive firmly in position when mounted inside the T430s. I had to remove that piece in order for the drive to fit in the case. I'll have to remember to reattach it if I ever want to put the DVD drive back into the T430s.
    2. The new thinner DVD drives now being installed on s-line ThinkPads leave a small gap between the top of the drive and the top section of the case. I stuck some foam spacers using double-sided tape on the inside of the top section of the case in order to keep the drive in position.

    Hello,
As far as I know, DVD±RW disc drives are automatically detected by Microsoft Windows XP and newer versions of Windows.  Are you looking for the latest firmware?  The latest update I could find for a T61 is here on Lenovo's support web site.
