T61p + Vista ultimate = Will not let applications access internet. Please help
Hey all, new here. However, I've owned an R40 IBM Thinkpad before I've upgraded to this T61p for college. I absolutely LOVE this laptop, apart from the issue I am experiencing at hand.
My system specs, incase it is of concern
Windows Vista Ultimate 32bit
4GB RAM
200GB 7200RPM (encrypted) drive
Nvidia 570m GPU
Intel T9300 2.5 ghz 6mb L2 cache
here's what I'm going through...
All sorts of applications that require access to the net are getting hung up, and idicating that they cannot connect to the server's they are pointed to for updates. Examples include, AVG antivirus, Punkbuster (Anti-cheat software that runs in the background of online games...always updating) and these are the only apps I have that require internet access so far.
I can browse using Firefox and Internet Explorer no problem.
The punkbuster is especially frustrating because just about ALL games and ALL servers use it, and if punkbuster doesn't update, you get kicked out of the game.
I am convinced it is Vista as I've never had the sort of problem with XP, and it is two different applications experiencing the problem.
I am accessing wireless through a router with the necessary ports I need open for this software, and I am running Comodo Firewall in learning mode. However, even if I disable Comodo altogether i get the same symptoms.
Any help would be much appreciated
OK, two things:
ON your BlackBerry, go to Options > Advanced > Browser.
Set that to HOTSPOT and save.
Now, connected to a WiFi router, open the internet browser on the BlackBerry try going to mobile.blackberry.com
Does it work?
Also, Do you have a BlackBerry Data Plan enabled on your account with your carrier or mobile provider?
You must, in order to get the RIM push email functions you are looking for, as well as addtional BlackBerry data services such as the mobile network internet browser, Facebook for BlackBerry, BlackBerry Messenger, and much more.
So, call your carrier and inquire about having the BlackBerry Data Plan added to your account.

Under Windows 7 you will want to use the Programs and Features Control Panel to remove your installation. I would recommend verifying that Photoshop Lightroom is removed from the list of installed applications. -

Look, I understand I still need a card attached to the account. The problem is, it won't accept my card because I only have 87 cents in my bank account right now.
If I had known there would be so much trouble with the iTunes card, I would have just put the cash in my bank account in the morning instead of buying an iTunes card (I didn't expect the banks to be open on Thanksgiving of course).
Apple will only accept cards that have a balance. The balance is so small in my account that it won't accept it as a valid card.
I'm going to have to contact Apple anyway to reset the security questions. That's obvious. Your answers were not exactly helpful. You didn't tell me anything I don't already know, but thanks for trying to be helpful. -

To use iCloud, you will have to change your AppleID to an email address - see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5621
The old AppleID rules used to allow you to use any name you wished, but that was stopped a long time ago, and iCloud will not accept such an AppleID, so you will either need to change it, or create a new AppleID just for iCloud.
BTW, the apps you are downloading have nothing to do with iCloud or your iCloud account. The cloud icon in the App and iTunes stores merely indicates the app lives "in the cloud" as the storefront is an entirely internet based service. -
When I click on "iTunes store" I get the error code 0x80090318. Also when I click on home sharing I get the error code -2146893032.
This is the second time I have installed this and won't work. Please help.

I just updated to the newest version of ITunes well, not just but a few days ago. Anyway I have windows 8, and in ITunes my Ipod 5th gen will not show up. I have tried somethings such as unpluging repluging, going to services and restarting, basiclly everything on yoyutube, none still work. It's ***** to cause I just wanted to put music on my Ipod, if anyone has an idea of what to do please give some suggestions.

What exactly happens when you try to buy something ? If you've already removed the card from your account then iTunes shouldn't be asking for any details about it.
If you log into into your account is the card still shown . On your computer's iTunes you should be able to edit your payment info by going into the Store > View Account menu option and logging into your account, and on your account's details page there should be a payment link. If you are doing it on your phone then tap on your id in Settings > iTunes & App Store and tap on 'View Apple ID' on the popup and log into your account - that should also give you a payments link on your account's page.

Vista Ultimate Will Not Install Zen Mi
I have browsed the posts for two days and I cannot find a remedy to this problem. I upgraded to Vista Ultimate a few weeks ago and I just tried to add my MP3 player yesterday. I figured I would just format the thing and flash the firmware cleanly anyways to make sure everything was ship-shape because I wanted to re-build my library on it anyways. So I plug it in to Vista and it gets recognized and says it is starting to install the drivers. It gets near the end and then it fails saying that?"Vista cannot install the drivers for MTP Device"?"The parameter is incorrect". This is really not making much sense to me because as I said I just reflashed the firmware correctly with the 2.xx PlaysForSure firmware and it works correctly in XP Pro with WMP. I cannot find one bit of support on this issue and it is really irking me. Does anyone have any answers or help?

The driver it should be using is the MTP driver that is in windows vista.
Not sure why its not linking up and working right.
Been searching some of the articles about the Zune players, and they mention the following procedure for the Zune device when they do this: (Zune's are MTP devices as well)?# Make sure USB Legacy support is enabled in your system bios#2?Boot into save mode with device attached to the system#3 When device driver is detected but fails to install, select the device in device manager and select uninstall.#4. Unplug device from the system, then plug it back in. "According" to the note on one of the Zune forums this fixes the problem when it occurs with the Zune.

My ipod touch is acting up. The screen says that it is connected to to the wireless and it has a signal but when I open the Safari(Internet) app it will not open and will only open to google. My regular internet is working fine. Can any of you help me? iMovie '08 will only allow you to to import files containing compression formats that can be edited. If you AVI file won't import, it likely means that the audio and/or video data is not editable. To import it, you will have to first convert it to any of the acceptable compression formats. For video this means DV, AIC, M-JPEG, Photo-JPEG, MPEG-4, or H.264. For audio this may include DV, AIFF, AAC, Unsigned Integer, Uncompressed, etc. This means that files with adaptive PCM (ADPCM) -- a very common AVI audio compression format for digital cameras -- will not import.

Files imported directly from a video camcorder is automatically converted to "edit" compatible compression formats using non-QT routines built into the iMovie '08 application. Files already on your hard drive are brought in (imported) via the Finder and as such, bypass the special camcorder routines since the application assumes you will only import files that are edit compatible "natively" -- i.e., are in the compression format in which you actually want to do your editing. (For example, a person who wants to edit in DV would likely be upset if the application switched to M-JPEG or MPEG-4 editing behind the user's back for some reason.) -
My email provider has changed and I have a new one.
I amended this on my computer under my Apple iTunes account without any difficulty and it was authenticated. However, I still have the original email appearing on my iphone 4s and ipad2 and I cannot update that information. Neither can I use my usual password to update my Apps. Please can anyone assist me with simple instructions on how to change these important passwords? Please advise.Once I downloaded the update, I was unable to right click "run as administrator" from the exe file. How I was finally able to update to the newest version was to:
* click the start menu
* click search
* type in firefox
* scroll down to Firefox setup 7.0.1.exe
* right click and select 'run as administrator'
The rest was 'easy as pie'. Hope this helps those that had the same trouble I did.
