T61p Wireless Activity Light

I have a T61p and was having the worst time with my wireless networking. I updated the wireless driver and the AC to the newest versions it the wireless seems to be stable again. Woo Hoo..
However, the wireless activity light just below the display next to the bluetooth light, num lock, etc doesn't work anymore. It won't turn on and off when I turn the wireless radio on and off and I can't see netework activity via that light anymore. It's a minor annoyance but I sure would like it to work again. Anyone know what I can do?

I am using the Windows Airport Utility v5.6.1 (current version). There is an option to set the activity LED to flash or not.
As I said, the new Extreme will ignore requests from an AirPort Utility v5 version for a setting that is not present in the v6 AirPort Utility.
You may not be aware, but you should not be using a v5 version of AirPort Utility to try to administer the AirPort Extreme.
Please review the System Requirements for the AirPort Extreme from the specification page of the AirPort Extreme:

Setup and Administration
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 6 or later and AirPort Utility 1.3
Mac with OS X Lion v10.7.5 or later and AirPort Utility 6.3
As you can easily see, a version 5.x of AirPort Utility does not meet the requirements for the new AirPort Extreme, so settings that are not present on the v6 of AirPort Utility will not be implemented on the new Extreme.

T430s - Disk-activity and wireless indicator lights not working

Just noticed that the indicator lights on the T430s are not working. There is a wireless and a disk activity light that are not lit up or blinks during activity. Located just left of the T430s sign on the lower half of the laptop cover.

Only link light is lit blue; activity light unlit

A blue light appears only on the "Link" LED and the Activity light is unlit. The strength of connection is extremely low and sometimes nonexistent. What do I do. Also, when the range extender has been unplugged to reset in the past, it takes several attempts when plugged in to get it to light any lights. Don't know if this is related - perhaps defective range extender?

You need to reset the Range Expander to factory settings and then re-configure it...Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your Range Expander, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...
To re-configure the Range Expander you may follow this link
Make sure you have identical Wireless Settings on your Range Expander and your Wireless Router...Also your Range Expander should be set to Static IP Address that mathces your router subnet...Do not forget to power cycle both the devices once configured...

HP C4780 wireless network light has gone out on the printer and my PC no longer ses the printer

Whilst scanning some photo's my pc lost connection with the printer. The wireless network light on the printers panel is no longer lit so I can't print or scan. I have tried turning the printer of and on again but the situation is the same. Has any one any idea how to solve this problem othr than buying a new printer?

I would probably uninstall the software, download the driver from hp.com and reinstall the printer. Here is a link for help on how to uninstall and reinstall. Click Here You can find the software download here. Just make sure your Operating System is listed there. Let me know how it goes.

My pavilion dv2418nr wireless switch light stays orange

My pavilion dv2418nr wireless switch light stays orange, will not go to blue, will not recognize any surrounding neighborhood connections. ISP says the router is fine, that it is the laptop switch not allowing the wireless card to read any connections. HP tech had me connect the Ethernet cord from the router to the laptop....I got on internet fine...however, that's a hard connect. Has anyone had this problem with their switch? i think until that little light turns blue I'm out of luck. Thanks for you help

Regarding the Touchpad, download the latest Synaptics Driver Installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.

Next, open windows Control Panel, open Programs and Features, right click the entry for 'Synaptics Pointing Device Driver' and select Uninstall. When this has completed, restart the notebook.
When windows has fully reloaded, open your Downloads folder, right click on the Synaptics installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation. When this has completed, restart the notebook again and see if this has helped.

Intel Xserve No Activity Lights

Hey I'm trying to find out what could be wrong with our new Intel Xserve. It's fresh out of the box and set up on it's rack. We try to turn it on and it looks as if everything is well but the blue activity lights don't come on. We tried changing the startup method, and that doesn't work either. Anyone have any ideas?
BTW, this is my first post. Glad to be here!

Had exactly the same problem 3 weeks ago. I pulled the thing completely apart and rebuilt and reset all the hard reset buttons inside. Still no joy. Had a spare's kit so replaced the logic board and away it went perfectly. Spoke to Apple techincal and they replaced the logic board from my spare's kit. They offered to swap the entire machine but time was not on my side so this was the quicked way to solve the issue. I did spend 1 hour on the phone to them to check and they agreed with my prognosis. Interested to know if you get any further with yours than I did - fingers crossed for you. Guessing there was a dud batch or similar.

Intel xserve activity lights

First gen intel xserve from a long time ago, and was running 10.4.x
I remember it used to have 4 blue leds on the system activity lights on the front of the machine compared to the g5's 2 blue... (and remembered reading that had to do with the 4 cores).
As of recently, and haven't paid attention, I had to upgrade to 10.5, and then to 10.5.7 and the other day when I was downstairs, noticed that the 4 system leds were gone and it now just looks like the g5's when it's not doing anything. However, when I run compressor and have all 4 going full blast and look carefully at the front, it does still look 4 sets, but i havent been able to see just the four individual lights.
I've just been accustomed to looking at the front and seeing 4 individual blue lights, so was wondering if it sounds normal...

No xServe system activity lights in 10.8 Server

Hi there,
i have installed Mountain Lion Server on my xserve and everything is fine but the "System activity lights"
do not come to live at boottime as the did in Lion server.
I know they need a kext because by the time i was installing 10.7 server they only startet after installing the server app.
So this time i assumed ot would be the same but it did not.
Does anybody know which kext i have to install there to bring the lightsback?

I phoned apple support on this one, after a lot of explaining (to a rep with poor english), eventually i was told "not work in yosemite", end of case.
We are on our own for this one.

Turning off the Wireless signal light on front of router

Is there a way to turn off the wireless signal light on front of router that constantly flickers when using wireless, want to know this so i can use wireless without being recognized.

Why when I run arch is the HDD red disk activity light always on.
Is it an arch thing or is the drive failing or what.
Does not look good.

Personally, I don't often have the need to find a file by it's contents, so I turn off Stirgi. I leave Nepomuk on. If you do nothing and leave them both on, the system should finsh indexing -- eventually My home directory has a lot of source files, including the source for the kernel. Disk drives are pretty reliable, I don't worry (much) about excess disk activity being a serious risk to the drive. PG 522 Field Point I/O Activity Lights always on even when no output is requeste

I am making Time Duration outputs to a PG-522 Module. SOmetimes, even when I have no output the activity light stays on all the time. The only way to clear it is to reset the Field Point Communications. What could Cause this to happen?

Hi Pat,
The activity light does not tell you if your channel is in the ON or OFF state. It tells you if the channel is generating pulses. According to the manual, if you are using the 1s resolution the max ON/OFF time is 65,535s. This could cause the activity light to stay on while it looks like you have no output.

5545 'Active' light is on for 1 HA unit only..is that normal?

We have 2 Cisco 5545s in an HA/failover configuration. One has an ‘Active’ light on, the other does not...is this normal? Does it mean the one with the light on is currently 'Active' member of HA pair?

Yes, this is an Active/Standby install...you have confirmed my suspicion's..tx!
I'm remote from these devices(which resides in data center). The client wrote back stating that it was the orange/red 'Alarm' light that was on only on the current Standby unit that they were concerned with. But everything looks fine from what I can tell.
What does the Alarm light on typically signal? Thinking maybe HDD errors? , physically memory fault?

X1 Carbon hard disk activity light

To save weight or whatever the Lenovo engineers decided to ommit a harddisk (SSD) activity light. As background applications might do a lot of mass storage work it would be helpful to find out if a slow laptop is due to exactly that.

I've been using it for several years now on a couple of ThinkPads that I manage remotely when I'm travelling. Even though those ThinkPads do have HDD activity LEDs it's a bit hard to see them across the Atlantic

Disk Activity Light?

I'm a recent convert to the Mac world. One thing that I've become accustomed to is watching the little flckering light that indicated when Windows was accessing the disk, whether it be to load an application, access disk cache, or paging to disk.
Obviously this is trivial but PowerBooks don't have anything that indicates disk activity other than the Activity Monitor. My question is: Is there a small utility that sits in finder or the menu bar that would simulate a disk activity light?

You could try XRG, but why not keeping Activity Monitor in the Dock, and in the Login Items, and choose Dock Icon > Show Disk Activity ?
