T7900 in the US... really?

So, I go to www.creative.com. Nothing special, just want to see some 7.1 speakers to buy, and really want the T7900 set.
I click on "Speaker Systems"... again, nothing special.
I click on "7.1", you know, to see the 7.1 systems available.
There are three systems listed. The "S750", the "T7900" and the "T7700".
You can see this right now, just do as instructed above.
I live in Chicago, IL, US, just browsing Creative.com, wanting to buy some 7.1 speakers, and really want what is listed... the "T7900" set as shown to me to be available.
I click on the T7900 link to view the specs. Looks good. I click on the very prominent "Buy Now" button...(nice and easy...) this is where it gets weird. It forces me to select "North America", and then "United States of America" and lastly "English". I do so and press "Go!" thinking "cool!", I'm going to buy myself a set of T7900 as advertised and shown!
bzzzzt!!!!!!
I am inexplicably sent to a "Speaker Systems" page.
Interesting.
I could have sworn I was there several pages ago. Ah well. I click the "7.1 Speaker Systems" button... again. And all of a sudden I am sent to a "7.1 Systems" anchor. And lo and behold, what is listed is now "GigaWorks Plus 7.1 s750 + DDTS-100 Decoder", "Creative GigaWorks S750", "Creative Inspire P7800", and, "Creative Inspire P7700"...
...something is missing (the T7900 system), something was added (the P7800 system)... including confusion.
So, my question is this. What in the world is going on here? Is this confusion on purpose? If so, why? I don't want to hear some pre-programmed "but they are essentially the same" BS. Answer this question: "Why was the web-site so deceptive?"
I want to purchase some Creative speakers, and have been thwarted by non other than the very company making them. I couldn't be more confused with Creative's web-site shenanigans and simply want to know... WTF? My confidence in Creative has just shot down several levels due to this as it seems sloppy at best, deceptive at worst.
Could SOMEone please tell my what is up with the utter confusion with Creative's web-site and apparent systems for sale.
Thank you.

socokid I agree there website is kind of lame so use newegg but the reason there wesite is lame is cause they spend most of there time working on there updates to the site so you can have a well working card so thats great too I hate there credit card page thats weired lol hope this info helps ya out

Dear all, Since a week ago I observe that when I press the button for my macbook air to start a nap, first the screen turns to black (although I can see it is stil on) and I can see the arrow (pointer). Only after 15 seconds the arrow and the screen really shut down. It did not occur before, as a matter of fact it was instantaneous. What could be the problem?

Note the time in your Mac's menu bar or some other accurate timepiece. Then, press the button to put the MBA to sleep. Wait until the cursor disappears and for all indications that the Mac appears to be asleep.
Then, wake the Mac the way you normally wake it.
Then, find the Console app - it is in your Utilities folder and looks like this
You can find it by selecting Utilities from the Finder's Go menu.
    Open Console.
If the log list column on the left is not already displayed, show the log list by selecting Show Log List from Console's View menu.
Locate system.log in the list and select it. Many date and time-stamped entries will appear, hundreds of them, and you must find the entries relevant to your Mac's sleep problem. To do that type the words sleep cause in the Filter field at the upper left of the Console window:
That will cause all log entries to be hidden, except for the entries containing those words. The last entry in the list will correspond to the last time you woke the Mac. It will have a time stamp in the form hh:mm:ss later than the time you noted in the Mac's menu bar prior to putting it to sleep.
Make note of that exact time in hours, minutes, and seconds.
Next: Clear the filter field by clicking the x in the above screenshot. It should then look like this:
All previously displayed log entries will reappear.
Next: Find the log entry that corresponds exactly to the time you noted in hours, minutes, and seconds containing the words "previous sleep cause". You may have to scroll up or down a considerable distance. When you find that line, select it and drag your cursor up and prior to the entry corresponding to the approximate time you noted before putting the Mac to sleep. This will result in a selection of perhaps 50 to 100 lines or so.
One or more of them, along with their time stamps, may reveal the reason for the fifteen second delay.
Copy and paste those log entries in a reply.
Most of the entries will be cryptic but will contain information you might consider personal such as your Mac's name. If you do not want that information to appear, delete or obscure it when posting your reply. Leave enough information so that the entries can be deciphered.

  • WHY do we get a %*# update every 2 weeks while the 1 really bad bug (fonts and sizes randomly changing when typing) persists????

Is there any way to STOP TB from sending updates every couple of weeks (and BTW this has slowed down/crashed TB increasingly in the past couple of months) UNTIL they fix this really irritating bug of randomly changing fonts and sizes when writing a mail? Outlook doesn't do this, Apple mail doesn't do this, so TB stop spamming and start addressing real problems for a change!!!!

It would be helpful perhaps to focus on "the real issue" of font size and compose, rather to digress into how vendors choose to deliver the product.
font issues arose in the past year. I forget exactly when. It is quite a bad problem. My recollection is it was a serializer change not done by Thunderbird developers, and that part of it was fixed in version 24. But I could be wrong.
Would you be willing to try version 31?

  • Replica Not Allowing Logins-Is the Replica really a Replica?

    Hi All,
This is a new 10.5.2 setup in an od-ad configuration. The od master seems to be working fine. Users are using their ad accounts to login and od for workgroup management. I have a second xserver ready to be ad od replica. The replication seem to be fine. No obvious errors.
On the replica, using directory services, i bound to AD and to the OD master as per Apples documentation. The ldap service in directory services lists both the OD master and localhost.
I then made the od a replica. Looking good so far.
When i connect using workgroup manager or dscl, i can see two nodes: a node with the od master name and one with localhost. I see the computer and user objects on the od master.
As soon as I take down the master to test the replicas. These nodes no longer work- as in i can no longer connect via dscl or browse in WM. The AD nodes works fine.
Is my replica not really a replica?!
On the client side: the kerbereros prefs looks fine (point to AD realm), the directory services prefs look ok (list both od master and replica).

when i ran dscl /Search read /Config/ldapreplicas, the results look ok.

  • Is the W540 really that bad?

I am looking to replace my aging W500, as the TrackPoint buttons are wearing out and the GPU performance is not quite up to par. After reviewing other mobile workstations, I keep coming back to the W540 and find that it still seems to be the best in terms of quality and build. I have read all of the nasty reviews, and I would probably agree with their viewpoints, but I have also read some positive reviews that claim that the redesign just takes some time to get used to. I can deal with the off-center keyboard (actually, the numblock is the feature that I missed the most when I purchased my W500), new keyboard keys, and repositioning of the insert block, but the new trackpad still worries me. So now I am asking owners of the W540 (and any current-gen ThinkPad, really):
    1. From a TrackPoint user’s point of view, how is the usability of the new TrackPoint? Is it possible to simply tap on the top corners of the trackpad (where the lines are) in order to left or right click, or does the entire pad necessarily have to be clicked down?
    2. How is the clicking mechanism on the new trackpad? I have used an awfully stiff HP trackpad before, and I never want to do so again. However, watching videos of xx40 ThinkPads makes it look like the pad uses a keyboard mechanism to click, which would be much easier to click. To me, this would make the trackpad suitable.
    3. How is the FHD screen? I have heard nothing but positives about the 3K IPS, but the resolution is too high for me (scaling still sucks in Windows), and it is not worth the increased cost and power consumption to me. How does the FHD compare to the 1680×1050 one on the W500, or the 1600×900 one on the T510 (I have used one for a brief period and was satisfied with its display).
I understand that the physical TrackPoint buttons will most likely return in the next ThinkPad refresh, but I would rather not wait until February-March to get a new computer. I am also open-ended to new design concepts as long as they work and are usable. As I said, the physical TrackPoint buttons on my W500 are wearing out (the left click in particular does not register unless I press very hard, and I expect even this to fail rather soon), and I cannot stand my current trackpad (the pointing capabilities on the new one look promising, however).

Thanks for the feedback guys. It looks like I will be going for the W540 after all. After browsing reviews of the new ThinkPads, I think I have come down to this:
    1. Earlier review models and early production batches had hardware issues with the new touchpad, as many reviewers had straight up defective click detection, while others had a working touchpad. This led them to hate the touchpad because it seemed unusable from the beginning.
    2. Some early adopters had a functional touchpad, and they either found it inconvenient or better than the previous one. Either way, it wasn't a big deal for them unless they had some major ergonomics issue.
    3. Once the new ThinkPads had been out for a while, the complaints of touchpads that failed to register clicks kind of died out, and some reviewers who looked at multiple models found that to be the case with their second and third ratings on the trackpad above their originals.
I'm not really a ThinkPad "purist," and I can probably learn to like the new trackpad.

  • Is the x86_64 really worth it?

64bit firefox works fine. 32bit wine and flash both work fine on 64bit installs, the bin32 packages are in AUR. Pretty much any apps that don't have native 64bit versions have bin32 packages in AUR.
Adobe flash actually does have a 64bit build but adobe neglected to update it this past release cycle and the version thats availible has known and actively exploited security vulnerabilities. This is why its reccomended to use the bin32 version.
That said the only time youll probably ever notice a performance difference between 32bit and 64bit is with CPU intensive aplications, such as video encoding.
EDIT: Also you should search the forums before making posts. This topic gets brought up like once a day.

  • Does the 4th Gen iPod touch and the iPads really support 802.11n?

Ok so I see on the boxes of my iPad and my iPod touch 4 say that they support 802.11n wifi connections. The iPad even supports 5Ghz 802.11n. However when I change the settings on my network to '802.11n only', only my MacBook Pro can connect to the network.
    Config Details:
    802.11 Band - 2.4Ghz
    802.11n Mode - Auto
    Bandwith - 20Mhz
    Security - WPA2-PSK [AES]
What's really going on?? I also see that all the devices are in 'g mode' and only my computer is in 'n mode' based on the router settings.

I do use it a lot for games...they tend to be larger files. My songs are whatever my dad buys and whatever I buy. Once I import this big batch of songs I will be at 700 songs and then will only add more when Dad or I buy them. I make a lot of money for a high schooler but my mom doesn't like how much I spend on iTunes (she's not into music the way I am). I don't want to have to pick and choose on which apps I have on my iPod. Songs, I can pick and choose if necessary. I just hate running low on available space.

  • Image capture for web-browsers out-of-the-box -- really no hopes?

    Hi all,
I planned to extend user's interface for my web2.0 app with a webcam. It looks for me like JMF is the only framework, which promises a multiplatform usage for web-surfers. Therefore, I tried some JMF code and some JMF samples already. However it looks for me now like one should rather forget about the installers providing an "out-of-the-box webcam support ready for housewives". I'd wish i am wrong.
Would you believe one can really make a simple installer enabling browsers like firefox, ie, safari and opera to upload a webcam snapshot by a single mouse click?
Thank you for your hints and comments,
    have a nice day,
    Valery.

    hi cat2014,
Welcome to the forums and sorry to hear about your sound trouble.
To check what's going on, can you provide these additional info:
    1. What's the model of your lenovo unit (eg. Y50-70)
    2. When you play a music file (ie. iTunes or YouTube), is the volume fluctuating but there's no sound comming from the built-in speakers?
       - Link to picture
If the speakers are enabled and the volume is fluctuating, this means that the sound adapter is okay and there's most likely a problem with the speakers. To check, try to:
      a. Use an earphone or an external speaker and observe if you can hear a sound
      b. Press the Windows Key +X and choose Device Manager. On the Device Manager window, navigate to Sound, video and game controllers and uninstall the sound adapter (ensure that you delete the device driver). When finished, do a scan for hardware changes. Windows will now use a generic sound driver and observe if you can how hear a sound from the built-in speakers
Let me know how it goes.
    Regards

  • Is the Iphone really worth getting

I know posting this question on the apple section of the Verizon forum might not be the greatest place, but I really want to know if its worth getting. I have to figure you guys will be biased, so I was hoping you can give me a legitimate wow reason as to what makes the iphone better than similar droid phones.
Personally I have never been a big apple user. I have never had an iphone, or Ipad. I have had an ipod for a couple years now and I will say I have nothing but good things to say about it. However I have looked and played around with many of my friends Iphones and personally I cannot see what makes it so special. Granted I understand its like ground zero for smart phones, but today it seems no different than any other smart phone out there. Also, I feel I am somewhat biased against the Iphone because I feel Siri is the beginning of Skynet.
Jokes aside I am considering the switch, so please tell me what makes this phone so special. Thank you for your help.

    Hello Gerio,
It really depends upon the features you want, and what you need the phone to do. I am getting older and can't afford an assistant to help with my memory. Siri is the next best thing. Secondly, I am really intrigued with the advanced abilities of this phone. If I weren't married to a terminally wife, I would not have a landline. She has dementia and cannot learn new things so the "cell phone' is too much for her. Secondly, her emergency medical is attached to the normal landline 911 system. I have had an I phone in the past and was extremely happy with its performance, as well as its environmental footprint. I get so upset when I hear people say that "Apple" is owner of everything, lenux is free and will always be free, and android is based on lenux. Google is propriatory on the android and no one is complaining about that. You even have to have an google based email address for some of the features to work.
Get what you feel you need. Do some research online and make an informed decision.
Take care and as long as you make an informed choice you should be happy with whatever you choose...
I just bought an Iphone 5 btw

  • Apertures Previews - whats the deal really?!

    Hi,
I have just switched from iPhoto 6 to Aperture 1.5.3 and basically I love Apertures many advanced features, but I am also astonished by some of the features its lacking when compared to iPhoto.
Whats with thoses previews that has to take up precious harddrive space just so that I can drag images directly from Aperture and use Aperture with the iLife apps (iWeb)? Seems really weird to me that Apertures otherwise great feature using versions of the masterimage, and thereby saving harddrive space, is degraded by the previewfunction. I understand that its a really great function if you use referenced images, but otherwise it seems really unnecessary and not very Apple-usability-like.
    Best,
    Peter

Think about it for a moment - if the Version only exists as a master file plus a bunch of conversion/adjustment instructions, how are you going to drag it to another app? Every single time you used an image from Aperture in another app you'd have to wait while Aperture went through the whole conversion process for every dragged image...
That's not to say that the preview function was added in the most logical manner (garbled thumbnail order in the media pane, previews keeping the original file name and not the Version name), but it's something that required compromises somewhere.
iPhoto works on a totally different philosophy, where every edit already exists as a regular file, ready for drag-n-drop.

  • Step input key commands active all the time - really annoying

In Logic X, I'm experiencing a problem where the step input key commands are overriding the global key commands, even when the step input window is not open.
For example, when I'm looking at the main Logic window, with the step input window closed:
-I press the space bar, and the playhead advances one division value
-I press the T to change the tool, and it creates a region and puts a tiny F# there (!!)
-I press Y to open/close the library, and it creates a region and puts a G# there.
The only way around it right now is to edit my key commands and delete all step input commands that are getting in the way of the more universal ones.
    Has anyone else encountered this?

    Yes, I am.
Actually, I haven't even really been using the step window.  The problem seemed to start out of nowhere, and I noticed by looking through the "Edit key commands" window (opt-K), that what Logic was doing was using all the step input key commands instead of the global commands.

  • Migrate CA to Server with Different Name? What is the CA really for?

So I'm reading and following along in this article:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee126170(WS.10).aspx
Though I should have read through the whole thing first. Yes I want to Migrate the CA from Server A to Server B, but I dont want to Change the name of Server B to Server A!
I want Server B to have its New Name, though the article above is for Migrating to a Server that will have the Same Name as the old server.  )-:
I'm not really sure what the CA is for. Seems like we had one in Win2003, and then when that Server Died and we had no Backup I just installed a new CA on a 2008 R2 server.  It only has like 20 Certs issues, most of which Expired and have IUSR for the
Common Name. I think I might of used it once for A Cert for Testing HTTPS on a Dev Server....
    Thanks,
      Scott<-

    Maybe I'm not clear.
My Original Plan was to Move a CA to a New Server with a New Name. I backed-up the Old CA. Uninstalled it. Read the Directions, and Duh, I cannot CHange its Name.
After Reinstalling the OLD CA  and restoring the Backup, It was Fully Functional. The Old Certs were back.  I installed a NEW CA server in Parallel with the OLD CA Server reinstall.  Then Moments later EVERY connected PC on the Network seemed
to request a Certificate from the a CA Server, though most Requested it from the OLD CA.
None of these PCs had a Certificate from Either CA Prior to the reinstall oflthe OLD/install of the new.
I have removed the Cert Templates from the OLD CA.
The OLD CA had 40+ Clients with Certs Issued. Most are "Computer (Machine)" and some are "Domain Controller Authentication" and some are Directory Email Replication"
How do I tell (either via GPO or login script or?) these clients that they need to request another Cert from the new CA.  The Certs that were Issued on the OLD CA were not manually Requested. The PCs themselves or AD initiated the request.
    Thanks,

OK....you were using SMCfancontrol?....and you reinstalled the app after the clean install?......did you open Preferences for SMCfancontrol and run the slider that controls the fan speed back to the left? (Apple default speed)......my 4,1 MacBook is about 1800 rpm...

  • Does the Powerbook really work with Leapard? Ever since I installed...

my fan is running NON STOP. And the computer is hot. I looked at the activity monitor and nothing seems out of whack (I am using firefox and word). I just ran into a friend who described the same problem after she upgraded. Should I be re-installing Tiger?
    Thanks!

Leopard is more demanding of hardware resources than any earlier OS version. You should expect your machine to run hotter and/or the fan to run more and faster. If you can't stand the fan noise and the heat, you may indeed want to go back to Tiger. It's a better match for your machine than Leopard is, certainly.
Note, however, that if you have just installed Leopard, Spotlight may still be indexing your hard drive: a highly CPU- and disk-intensive process that generates a lot of heat. If that's going on now, wait until it finishes to get a better indication of what temps and fan operation will be like in normal usage.
