TA24054 latest osx update shutdown issue

during the latest osx updates my MB pro shuts down completely during the process instead of restarting. is this correct and has anyone else suffered a similar issue? Thanks

If the MacBook Pro starts up correctly and it works, there's nothing to worry about. I remember that some firmware updates turned off your computer instead of restarting it, but as I said, don't worry about it

  • ITunes won't open after latest OSX update

AFter latest OSX update iTunes won't open.  Reinstalled iTunes.  Reinstalled OSX update.  When I click on icon in applications or in finder nothing happens.

This is what worked for me and others--original post found on this thread: Yosemite slow opening and cannot open itunes
This solved my question by Linc Davis.......
According to multiple reports on this site, Apple Support has given the following instructions to others who had a similar problem. I can't confirm that this procedure works or that it's necessary, but it won't leave you any worse off than you are now.
    First, back up all data.
Select the iTunes icon in the Applications folder and open the Info window. Click the padlock icon in the lower right corner to unlock the settings.
In the Sharing & Permissions section, change the Privilege setting for each Name in the list to Read & Write. Close the window. If the settings aren't visible, click the disclosure triangle on the left so that it points down.
You should now be able to drag the iTunes application to the Trash and empty. Your iTunes data won't be affected.
Click the iTunes link at the top of this page, download the installer package and run it.
If iTunes still doesn't launch, or if you can't complete the procedure, reinstall the OS.

  • The latest osx update has caused keychain errors on my macbook pro...what should I do?

I downloaded and installed the latest osx update last night (10.9.2) and now I'm getting login errors when trying to download emails and keychain errors when using Google Chrome or Safari. I have no idea how to solve the problems caused by this update. My macbook pro is older - 2008. Help, please? Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide.

I should have clarified above....."keychain errors", not just login errors. Thanks again.

  • Does the latest osx update remove the flashback malware

Does the latest osx update remove the flashback malware?

    From Thomas A. Reed's post:
There is malware (called Flashback) that has been actively taking advantage of Java vulnerabilities on Macs, installing as a drive-by download with no user interaction required when visiting a malicious web site.  Apple's latest Java update patches these vulnerabilities, though it's still possible for that malware to use social exploits to trick you into installing it.  You would do best to turn off Java in your web browser...  you probably won't miss it at all.

  • The Sims Game won't start after latest OSX update?

    Hello
Ive tried so many things but my problem just don't get fixed!
Yesterday I updated my MacBook Air with the new OSX 10.8.4 Update, since then my Sims 3 is not working no more!
I tried a lot of things from the view that Sims was the Problem, but since this Problem accured just after I updated my Mac System, I figured it has to do something with the new Apple Update!
When I start my Sims all I see is a Black Screen, It wont react unless I end with cmd/esc.
I tried a lot of things and it just won't help anything.
I reinstalled the Sims and it just doesnt show any process.
I would be so glad, if sb. could help me and know why my Sims Game is acting up so much, since the new Mac OSX update.
Maybe the Sims and the new Update is not compatible with each other?
Somebody help me please! Thank you very much!!!

Boot into the Safe Mode and try to open it.
Shut down the computer and then power it back up. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application unistaller. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

  • If I download the latest OSX update via the App Store, can I choose to do a fresh install instead of an update?

That's basically the question - since I get a RAM error upon trying to freshly install the OS on my MBP (disc or SD card), I find this to be the last remedy. I already tried switching the RAM. I'd like to sell my device, so I wanna "reset" it. Can I choose to freshly install OSX when downloading the Mountain Lion update?

That is not a RAM issue. You're trying to boot from a Mac OS X version too old for the computer.

    Thanks

  • Latest N8 update - selection issues in browser and...

the latest update is much appreciated as it has freed up a lot of space on the c drive which I'd never managed to do despite removing all possible items from it and not installing onto it.
The only bug seems to be in the browser. When you type into any search box the list of suggestions box appears and blocks your view of the search box. I use my phone in 'portrait' with predictive text so it is useful to see the text as you type.
The other bug is that it is very hard to select items in the top third of the screen. I don't think I've suddenly become less accurate. It sometimes takes a few goes to select and I have to zoom some pages to hit the right section. I've noticed the Google mobile search page has moved the search button down which is good as I'd keep ending up at the log in screen. Can anyone help?

    hi mate,
Sorry your thread hasn't been seen until now. If there are errors such as those, you can always try an alternative web browser, such as Opera Mini or Opera Mobile.
These are available for download by typing http://m.opera.com in your web browser.

  • Anybody notice a drag in GB after latest OSX update?

After the last Snow Leopard software update I am noticing a decreased performance in GB. Not bad but enough to irritate me slightly. More of those "performance" stops even with minimal tracks. Once GB warms up it stops doing it. I "only" have 2GB of Ram so I guess I'll have to just max out to 8 but for 1300 freakin' bucks I would expect my new Mac to still be a powerhouse after a year. Anyone else notice a perfomance issue after the update?

If you feel it's a RAM issue, why not just buy a $135 upgrade and install it yourself?

  • IMac stuck at 5 seconds when installing latest OSX update

I just clicked on the latest notice from Apple to update Maverick to its latest version (10.9.1) and while the update worked fine on my Macbook Air, it is stuck at "5 seconds to complete install" for more than an hour now on my iMac!
    What should I do?
I am afraid if I switch off the computer, I may screw everything up, so please let me know if anyone else got into the same trouble and  if there's a way to come out of it.
First time anything like this happens and honestly I am quite surprised that the computer gets stuck on an update of its own OS...

Hold the Power button of the Mac until it turns off, and turn it on again. It may be risky, but it is your only option now.
If OS X does not start up, hold the Shift key while your computer is starting up to start up into safe mode, and reinstall OS X 10.9.1 > http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1707?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
If that does not work, hold Command and R keys while your computer is starting up, and reinstall OS X

The last OS update for SL was OS 10.6.8.  If that's the case you posted in the wrong forums.  You should be posting in the SL forums.
If you are using Mail for your Gmail account, did you check the sound settings in Mail Preferences?  Please detail what you have done so far in the way of troubleshooting?   Need this info to avoid the "been there done that" scenarios.

  • WHY DOES BATCH MONITOR FAIL EVERY TIME SINCE LATEST OSX UPDATE?

I cannot get anything out of FCP5 into compressor without BM saying failed as server application quit unexpectedly!!!!????
This is supposed to be a commercial professional set of tools and so much of the time they just do not work!!!
Why is the BBC giving up Avid etc and moving down to FCP and compressor etc??
Sorry for the moan, I am at the point of throwing my G5away in frustration at this point.
    Tom

    Same is happening here.
I've tried the Pro-Apps update and trashed the files as instructed but Compressor's Batch Monitor quits unexpectedly.
Ahhh this is really frustrating, am on a tight deadline and really need it to work.
Weird thing is that once its quit its seems to still process the files, which is a worry as I can't trust the quality of what its doing. My client is going to kill me!
Apple sort your "Pro" apps out, they need to be reliable!

  • Does the latest security update to Safari effect OSX v10.6.8?

Does the latest security update (Fix issued 25/02/14) to Safari not effect Mac OSX v10.6.8 Snow Leopard? Software update has not flagged it up in Snow leopard, so presumably it is only Lion & Mavericks that had the flaw.

    Correct!

  • Apple Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard no longer works after OSX update

After installing the latest OSX update yesterday (something about iChat encryption), Apple Bluetooth Keyboard no longer works with my iMac.
When I restarted the iMac after installation was completed, the iMac would no longer recognise my Bluetooth Apple wireless keyboard. I've tried with 2 other Apple wireless keyboards as well, but to no avail. None of them work with the iMac any longer. All 3 keyboards work with my PowerMac Quad G5 though.
The iMac "sees" the keyboards, but the pairing doesn't go through because the iMac doesn't seem to recognise the keystrokes when entering the pairing code.
I had to go out and buy myself a Microsoft wired keyboard to be able to restart the iMac (couldn't enter the login password without a keyboard).
My bluetooth mighty mouse works flawlessly though.
    Very frustrating. Can anyone help?
