Quicktime playback component for windows download & install - Having no success with installation. File says it is Winquicktime MPEG2 - upon clicking it asks what program to open with - any thoughts - I've redownloaded it and tried to have it run vs. download and the same thing happens.
Nope---didn't work. I've owned Macs for about 12 years so although I am brain dead on some things, I do have a working knowledge on most things. I only say that to say this--I did try holding down the mouse and choosing empty trash. It asks if I want to permanently delete what's in there. I say yes--and then I get the same identical message again-----'The operation can't be completed because the item "Firefox 8.0.1.dmg" is in use I can then click stop, or continue.' So apparently that complains the same way it does if I click it up on the menu :)))
As for item owned by---that's not an issue and isn't coming up. User is not a problem either as I am the only user on this system. There is only ONE file in my trash at the moment at that is this dmg file. Nothing Mac. Nothing owned by anyone other than Firefox. The problem seems to be that the dmg file and the original 4.0 FF file are working in tandem with each other--even though I have already drug the new 8.0 globe into the Apps folder and it updated the FF app with the new stuff. If I could force the dmg file to go away, I would do so, but at every turn the system is telling me it can't be done because it seems to think that dmg file is in use---even though everything is shut down and/or ejected. Hey--I'm getting ready to head out and won't be back till evening. I'll check back in this evening. Thank you again for your help.

That isn't the way it worked for me.
Once I download the installer from the App Store, I was able to open it and install Lion.
I would suggest trying to download it again.
If the same thing happens again, you shopuld discuss this with the App Store Support.

For example I download a file and I click on it and there will sometimes be a window that opens saying what program I want to open the file with? And then it'll also have a check box saying if I want to use this program for all files I download. I can't change it when I download the file because that one file I keep downloading keeps crashing my Firefox and I have to force quit. It's really getting on my nerves. It's an online statement I'm trying to view and I want to get rid of that problem!! Is there anyway to change that option without going to that download page?
I would recommend going into device manager on your PC and making sure that you have correctly installed the IR dongle. Also what version of hotsync manager are you currently using?

Select disc image file of project professional 2013.img.

I try to open attachments in emails and they will not open! A box comes up asking 'what do I want to open the file with', and it wants me to select from a list of options like - Firefox, IE, Word, Yahoo Browser. When I make a selection (usually Firefox) a new tab opens with a blank page! This always happens on attachments, links, websites......everything!

That's not consistent with what you wrote in your first message. I can't help you unless I know what's going on. Either you do, or do not, have backups of all the data you want to keep. If you do not, then the first thing you need to do is back up those files. It makes zero sense to do anything else. In order to back up, you'll need either of two things: another Mac, in working order, with a FireWire port and enough space on its internal drive to hold your files; or an external drive, also with enough space.
On the other hand, if you do have backups, or if you simply don't care about any of the data, then the solution to your problem may be quite simple. All you have to do is boot from your installation disc (your profile says you're running Mac OS 10.5), erase your internal drive, reinstall the Mac OS, then restore your data from backup. You will need to be selective in restoring software, because incompatible software may be what caused the issue.
But it's also possible that you have a hardware failure, in which case you can't get your computer working again until it's repaired. -
I am working in Windows and every time I open an attachment, Firefox asks what program to use to open files of this type. I always select the proper program and then check the box that says use this program for all future files of this type. In spite of that, the program continues to ask for every file. How do I turn off this feature and just have the program remember the correct program to use for each type of file extension?
Regardless of your download preferences, web servers can trigger a download prompt by sending either the ''Content-Type: application/octet-stream'' or the ''Content-Disposition: attachment'' header. You can check if that's the case by examining the server response headers in the [https://developer.mozilla.org/docs/Tools/Web_Console Web Console].
For the latter problem install the InlineDisposition add-on and see if it helps.

My laptop said I was running out of space on my start up disk and then I opened iphoto and it asked which library I wanted to open it with. There were no options available so I had to create a new library for my iphoto. None of my photos were on iphoto when I opened it again. The same thing happened with my photobooth - all of my photos have disappeared.
I tried to do alt + command when opening iphoto but it didn't help, however I found some of my photos in the masters folder I found when I right clicked on the iphoto file.
Please help I have all of my photos from the last 3 years on my iphoto!With the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a solution. We can't see your computer so we need to know the details of your problem and setup, i.e.:
what version of iPhoto are you using?
what system version are you running?
what fixes have you tried?
have you found where is your original library is located? Is there both an Old Masters and Masters folder in it?
did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring?
how much free space on your boot drive? It's strongly recommended to maintain a minimum of 10-15 GB of free space for optimal system and application performance. -

Firefox doesn't go by the file extension like other browsers might. Wrong MIME type or a missing MIME type and Firefox will ask you what you want to do with the file. -
Insert Images File keeps closing and does nothing
I'm fairly new to dreamweaver but I know the basics. Today was the first day I was adding images. I'd do insert/images, the files folder would open but no matter what I clicked on in the file folder, the file folder would just close and do nothing, not letting me even select an image. It didn't matter whether I used the panel or insert menu at top it still wouldn't work. I tried this about 30 times same thing. Finally managed to get 1 image in and then it kept doing it again. I already tried uninstalling dreamweaver, rebooting then reinstalling, issue is still there. Any body know whats happening?
My OS is Windows 8.1 and using Dreamweaver CC 2014 Build 6981When Dreamweaver acts strange, it's often the result of a corrupt cache file. You can find details of how to delete the file here: Deleting a corrupted cache file.
If that doesn't work, it's sometimes necessary to delete your personal configuration folder. The article I pointed to also explains about deleting the folder. You might also find the following article helpful: Reinstalling Dreamweaver (or Extension Manager) fails to solve problems. -
Hard to add more detail... I open Firefox Applications preferences, assign "iBank" to Content Type "qfx file", yet every time I download a .qfx file Firefox opens a "Opening stmt.qfx" window asking what should Firefox do with it. Every time I select iBank and check the "Do this automatically from now on." box I also re-open Firefox preferences, and sure enough it says it will open qfx files with iBank, but it doesn't ever do it...AUGGH!
If it affects multiple different FIs, then I wouldn't rule out a problem with Firefox. The problem is that the mimeTypes.rdf file has a messy structure, so I don't recommend editing it manually. Hopefully someone will have an alternative solution.

I've been using FF for years and lately have been having issues with internet access. Worked through the troubleshooting suggestions and got it working, but last night FF couldn't connect to internet after something updated and my Norton anti virus was gone too and I couldn't fix it. The last resort was to delete my ff and download new, so I did. When I clicked on run I got a pop up asking what program I wanted to open it with and of course nothing worked. By then it was 1:30 am so I quit. Today I'm having the same issue and I'm at the end of my rope trying to figure out what to do. I'm so disgusted and can't stand it.

Look at the code in the old template. Find all regions like this -

Then do a site-wide Find and Replace to find the old template's file name, and replace it with the new template's file name.
