Tab Also Current for Pages References

I would like to references "Tab Also Current for Pages" by page aliases (like we can do with Optional URL Redirect) instead of hardcoding the page number.
Is there any way to do that?

you can't currently reference page aliases in those Tab Current for Page(s) fields on the "Edit Standard Tab" screen. that's a good suggestion, though... so thanks. i'll log it in a bit.

  • "Tab Also Current for Pages" is automatically cleared when reusing page

I'd want to reuse a page, and include it in the "Tab Also Current for Pages" list of 2 standard tabs, that are displayed conditionally. But when I include it in the second tab, it is automatically cleared in the first. This only happens in the detail Tab edit screen, in the multi tab edit screen the pagenrs are not cleared. So I can achieve what I want, but for future maintanance this is very risky.
Is there any way to avoid this?

    Hi Capt Egg
I didn't mean to say that there wasn't a case for a page being associated to more than one tab -- quite the opposite! More than once I wished that could be done...
But the fact is that currently in Apex we have:
    - A tabular form that allows you associate the same page to multiple tabs (and worth mentioning, allows you to enter anything in the Also Current Pages column, not only a list of page numbers!)
    - A form that doesn't allow you to do so, and validates if you entered a list of valid numbers in the Tab Also Current For Pages field.
Something needs fixing, and in my experience with Apex the forms I've seen seem to be much more strict in terms of validations than tabular forms for a number of reasons.
I am guessing that the form is the correct one and implements the intended rules. If that is true, the potential bug in the tabular form may be fixed in the future and the OP won't be able to maintain his applications that used this hack anymore.
Or maybe not, maybe the bug is in the form. But I would seek clarification on this before going down this route...

Most of the time, when I hit a link, it opens but tabs with ads or pages that I didn't ask for are opening also and they come up on top. I have to dump them to get to the link I originally hit. How can I stop this from happening? It's so irritating and they take a while to come up before I can close them. Note: I use Firefox for Mac OS

You can stop that behavior by changing two settings within the browser. Go to Tools -> Options and click on the CONTENT button. Make sure that "Block pop-up windows" is checked. Then click on the ADVANCED button on the far right and add a check to "Warn me when websites try to redirect or reload".
That should stop most of them. If not all, then you could install AdBlock Plus add-on, since most of the redirects are ad generated. (Tools -> Add-ons -> Get Add-ons)

  • Suggestion: Allow users to attach a note to an open tab for later reference.

I just wanted to make a quick suggestion: I work with about 25 tabs open, and sometimes need to append a quick note so that I remember what I needed to do with the info on the tab. It would be really handy if I were able to type a brief note that was attached to the tab for later reference. Perhaps a window that appears if I right-click on the tab and select "Append Note". A pop up appears where I can type a note, and then disappears when I click "save". I can recall the note by right-clicking on the tab and selecting "Reveal Note". Maybe each tab that has a note could have a colored bar across the top of the tab to indicate there is a note.
Keep up the good work; thank you!
    -Cary Snowden

    That's an interesting idea.
Currently, the closest thing would be the extensions that allow you to create a "Post-it style" note associated with a web page. It's not specific to the tab, so if you went back and forth in history, the note wouldn't be visible on the other pages. So not as useful in that sense.
Still, one of these might be helpful for the time being until someone can work on something tab-specific. Note: I haven't tried these myself:

I am running XP SP2 fully patched. I recently upgraded to 3.6.3 and since then, clicking on an icon that normally would open another windows (for example, a printer-friendly version of the current web page), nothing happens. In these situations, I have been forced to go to IE or Crome in order to accomplish what I need to do. Very frustrating. Also clicking in the slider area has no effect. "Page Up" and "Page Down" keys work. Holding down left mouse button on slider works. Also very frustrating. Can someone help

  • How to keep track of which tab is currently active in the page using Session object?

    Hi,
Just curious as to whether it is possible to have a PL/SQL event fire on an active tab.
The reason is I want to keep track of which tab is currently active on the page is that I have "generic" forms and reports published as portlets that I wish to be able to determine from the session object what page/tab the user is coming from and apply certain restrictions etc.
    kind regards,
    Matt.

    Hi Konstantina,
Yes You can do like that 2012-->q1-->January
    Steps:
    1. Create time dimension hierarchy as by following like Total--> year--> Quarter--> Month--> if you need you can keep Description.
    2. Drag the Year column from period dimension table to the dimension hierarchy of year.
    3. Drag the quarter column from period dimension table to the dimension hierarchy of Quarter.
    4. Drag the month column from period dimension table to the dimension hierarchy of month.
    5. Drag the hierarchy to period dimension table in presentation layer.
In Answer side keep as it as Default: drill in primary and secondary interaction under column properties.

  • Anyone Recommend a Reference Book for Pages?

Specifically, I'm interested in a reference book for the latest version of Pages--just downoaded it from the App Store--for creating books to be exported to epub and viewable in the iBook app. I'm a print book designer of 22 years' experience, so I don't really need a beginners book on Pages unless it really, really covers making book for export to epub.
Preferably something I can read on my iPad in either the iBook app, the Kindle app, or even as a PDF. (A public doman--free--book would be really nice at the moment.
    Thank you.

You should also ask in the forum for Pages:

  • No Boolean searches for Endnote references in Pages?

    Dear All,
I use Endnote heavily in technical papers and grants and have tried the new Pages 09 with Endnote X2. I really like Pages since it handles integrated text and graphics so well whereas Word really does not do that well. However, the Endnote search function in Pages appears to be quite limited, as far as i can tell, to a single word or phrase. It does not appear possible to search, for instance, for an author and a word in the title to narrow the search results. So if I want to search my Endnote database of references for all papers with "Smith" as author and that also contain "cholesterol" in the title I can't do it. Am I correct in assuming that this can't be done with the Pages search engine? Also, there does not appear to be a way to insert references from Endnote directly, so I can't do the search in Endnote and insert the reference into Pages. I would love to be wrong. Thanks in advance for any help!

You are correct that there doesn't seem to be a Boolean search function from within Pages.
In Endnote X2 itself, if you use the quick search function you can search author & title or author & title & keyword etcetera. For example, I put in Shakespeare as author and Hamlet as title and came up with two references in my library. I then generated a subject bibliography and inserted that into the Pages document. It is also possible to save references into Groups. There is quite a lot on managing Groups and sub-groups in the Endnote help menu.
    Hope that helps.

I have the same sort of problem with 30-40 tabs, with memory usage growing until crash. It seems a lot worse after restarting from standby mode on Vista - it's often highly unresponsive for a while, then crashes.

Is their a way I can log memory use of parts of Firefox, particularly the plug-ins?

  • How to set a New Tab as the start page in Firefox and lock in my choice of web sites

You may set the New Tab page Firefox shows when opening a new tab as its start page, and you can lock in the web sites you want displayed there.
I set my browser to open a New Tab as its start page and have locked in six destinations from which to choose on my start page.
First I open Firefox and open a new tab. Then I delete any open tabs other than this New Tab. Optionally, I can also set a second tab to open to a specific web site
Next I go to Tools and Options (or Edit and Preferences in Linux) and select the General tab on the far left. Click on
    [Use Current Pages].
Each time I open Firefox it will open showing me the New Tab.
I can select from pages that I have already visited the six pages I want to have appearing on my New Tab every time. Supposing there are no pages locked in yet, and I don't want the site in the top left. I hit the X in its thumbnail's top right corner, it disappears and every other site thumbnail moves up and there is a new site appearing in the sixth slot. Note that if I have visited one page frequently, it may appear more than once, or be replaced by itself. If that happens, just keep deleting until the page you want shows up.
If I find a site that I want to save, then there is a thumbtack in the top left corner of the thumbnail. It is black, but if I click it it turns blue, and the thumbnail is a keeper.
This web site is in the second row, second over, but I want it to be up on the top row. Just drag and drop and the two sites exchange places. Make sure it has a blue thumbtack. The lock-down thumbtacks and delete X symbols appear in the top left and top right, respectively while the mouse is hovering over them.
It is possible to delete a saved site, and it is possible to undo the thumbtack. Simply click the X to delete or click the blue thumbtack to unlock the site and turn the thumbtack black.
You may choose to tack down a few sites and let the remainder float in and out, driven by your browsing history.
Through my use of this approach, I have instant access to my club's web site, two Webmail sites, and some other often-visited places on the Web, all in one start page.
About the only thing I really don't need there is a Google search box, for if I enter my search terms in the address bar I get the same result as if I had specifically typed in the search box.
Some add-ons, often potentially unwanted programs (PUPs), will replace the Firefox about:newtab (address of the New Tab) with eBay, Facebook, Twitter icons among others, and a different search engine. These icons may have a nicer appearance than the default Firefox New Tab, but you may also be looking at extra, unnecessary work for the computer, especially if behind the pretty icons there is a hidden agenda.
Personally, I would stay clear of these add-ons, and perform some scanning with an up-to-date antivirus and antimalware software.

If this is not a pinned (App) tab then the home page should open in that tab.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • How stop FF31 from opening new window? I want to open all links in new tab at top of page.

I think the following, quote below, from the help page is my problem.
I have this one website I use that when I click on a link within the website it is opening a new window with the tab at the bottom. Also, when this happens, I am losing the orange FireFox rectangle, bookmarks and navigation options. How can I set FF31 so that the link opens in a new tab and I keep all my options? I am using Classic Theme Restorer 1.2.3. I also notice that in the new window I lose the ability to use some of the addons.
I have two laptops and both are running FF31 and W7. One of them is working perfectly and the other is having this problem. As far as I can tell they are both set up the same. The only difference is that when I upgraded to FF31 they both had difference older versions of FireFox. I also read in the help forum that maybe I need to go back to FireFox 28 to accomplish what I am trying to accomplish.
I noticed that when I go under about:config that the version of FF that is not working has fewer available options versus the version that is working. An example would be that the working version has "browser.tabs.onTop" where on the other laptop this is missing.
    >>>Open new windows in a new tab instead: This option controls whether links from other applications or from web pages which request to open them in new windows are opened in a new window or a new tab in the most recent window.
Note: If you have chosen to open pages in new tabs, Firefox will ignore this option and will open a new window from a link if the page author specified that the new window should have a specific size, because some pages can only be displayed correctly at a specific size.<<<
Thank you in advance for any help,
    yeto

  • Page back wont work. The page reference is lost in some cases regardless of web site (intermittent)

page back won't work The page reference is lost in some cases regardless of web site or action taken(the problem is intermittent)
I have three home tabs and on some occasions if I open one of them and start to browse it I can't return to the top page. It doesn't always happen and it can happen on any of them. It made using apps impossible and the only way to correct the situation is to hit the home key and close the incorrect tabs

It's also possible your session history file is not updating correctly, because you should not be thrown back to an earlier state in a tab.
By default, Firefox updates the sessionstore.js file every 15 seconds with any changes. But occasionally Firefox may stop updating the file or may find that the file is locked and start creating a different sessionstore file (which is never restored and just sites orphaned in your profile folder).
    Could you take a look?
Open your current Firefox settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder using either
    * "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Troubleshooting Information
    * (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
In the first table on the page, click the "Show Folder" button.
In the window that launches, switch the view to Details and scroll down to the sessionstore files. You may find:
    * sessionstore.js (current session)
    * sessionstore.bak (previous session windows and tabs)
    * sessionstore.bak-''datetime'' (windows and tabs at your last update)
    * sessionstore-1.js (or other numbered files -- session history that couldn't be saved into sessionstore.js)
Note: If Windows does not display .js extension, please switch off the hiding of file extension using the procedure in this article: [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/show-hide-file-name-extensions http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/show-hide-file-name-extensions].
Anything odd about the timestamps or any numbered sessionstore files?
