Tab Between Text Boxes in Pages

Is there a way to tab between custom floating text boxes in a Custom Template? I've created a form, and don't want my users to have to click on each text box to enter the data.
Thank you.

No, but…
If you can redesign your form to allow using a table to contain the entry boxes, you can use tab or return to move from one cell to the next.

how can i get the blue tabs to go away? what is floating text?

You can use Shapes to write in but then you have to change the fill and line colour. The text boxes blue tabs doesn't show when printing and there are for letting text flow. you can have one box on pages 1 and connect it to a text box on page for and the text will flow over to the box on page 4 if there is enough text. Just like in the magazines, more folloews on page 4.

  • How to enter text into text box in Pages '09

When I manually select a text boxes in Pages, I can paste text into them. I can move from text box to text box using System Events to keystroke tabs but have not figured out how to get Applescript Editor to make the pastes. I am trying to use Applescript Editor to enter text into a pages document that is formatted for labels.

I have downloaded template U-0089-02_P.doc from Avery, 14 boxes displayed in two columns of seven rows.
Once you have clicked in the upper left box, the following script should enter text into every box, from left to right and top to bottom.
    tell application "Pages"
    activate
    tell application "System Events"
    keystroke "Box 1"
keystroke tab & tab -- to go to the next column
    keystroke "Box 2"
keystroke tab -- to go to the next row
    keystroke "Box 3"
    keystroke tab & tab
    -- and so on
    end tell
    end tell
The problem is that I don't know how to enter the upper left box from the AppleScript Editor.

  • How to link text-boxes in Pages 5.2?

How do you link text-boxes in Pages 5.2?

Thank you for your help; it is appreciated. I suspected that, but am still disappointed. I am finding myself getting more and more disenchanted with Apple products in the past few years. I've been a faithful fan, user and promoter since the 1980s, but I am starting to seriously doubt their competency in the past few years with the Pages 5 version as well as what iOS7 continues to do to my iPhone (as my prime examples). Instead of enhancing my life and work, Apple is beginning to waste my time -- a lot of it! Perhaps it is time for a change.... I don't want to, but I am starting to look for other alternatives.

  • How do I turn off text box in pages?

how do I turn off text box in pages?

    Thank you Peter and Jerry.
Screen shot above. I know it's not much, but there it is.
In actual fact I can make the text box bigger, but I just want to have the option of not having a text box.
It should be simple, and not actually need a screen shot: just simple instructions. It seems pretty fundamental to me.  Does anyone know how to do this?

  • How do I remove text boxes from Pages

I have an awful time with Pages on my lap top.  I am used to Appleworks  6.2 on my older desktop (PowerMac G4 / OS 10.4.11).  If I specify a US letter page I get that in Appleworks, it  is then 8.1/2" x 11", without running into pre-existing formats or other similar distractions. I can immediately type a neat business letter.
Not with Pages.  On my MacBookAir, with Pages 4.3 and OS 10.8.4, I can type alright, but when I want to print what I typed, only a small part of what I typed shows up in in Print Preview of my typed page.  After a bit of backtracking,  I notice a blue-lined rectangle on my typed page containing the portion of my typing that appeared in that Print Preview.  It is apparently a self-formed "text box", that was not a part of my blank template page and was not inserted by me while or just before I typed.
I did not find any way to delete the edges of that text box. The "delete" option under the pull down edit menu is blanked out.  If I click on the "Text box " symbol in the menu bar it does not let me switch off the text box, but instead gives me another text box inside the first one!  I suppose this is to allow user to print only a single keyboard stroke of the entire letter.  The "Inspector" seems to have no options to set text boxes.
Pages "Help" Menu has nothing of how to delete a text box, or how to prevent it in the first place from screwing up what you have typed in such manner that it becomes unprintable.
Similarly a small rectangular box formed on both the top and the bottom of each page (which could be a space reserved for a header or footer), but again I do not use these on my business letters, and they appear self-formed by Pages, and I would like to know how to prevent them, or delete them.
In other words I like to get a blank page to start with, which will only set up and type what "I, THE  USER" enter on my keyboard.
Can anybody tell me how to this with Pages?
(PS. I can do it with even with Thunderbird !)

    1. Open a blank Word Processing template (they are listed in the Template Chooser sidebar), you have opened a Layout template that requires Textboxes for you to type into.
    2. To select a Textbox hold down the command key and click on its edge or lassoo it, then hit delete.
    3. If you don't want Headers or Footers, uncheck them in the Document Inspector
    4. Download the Pages09_UserGUide.pdf from under the Help menu and familiarise yourself with Pages' basics. Also look around your Menus and Inspectors which are laid out logically from left to right from broad to details.
I suggest you click inside your textbox first go command a and copy the contents before you delete it and then paste that into a new Word Processing template.

  • Linking text boxes in Pages

I can no longer link text boxes in Mavericks. I have version 10.9.3 installed. It seems like this is a problem that should have/would have been addressed long ago. When I go to Format in Pages, the Add Link is in light grey and it will not let me add the link. Am I missing something....

You should be posting in the Pages for Mac community for better response.
The last Pages version that linked text boxes was Pages ’09 v4.3. Pages v5.2 does not have this capability, and only Apple knows when or if they will fix that glaring omission.
If you had the older mentioned Pages installed before (downgrading) to Pages v5+, it was moved into /Applications/iWork ’09, and remains a functional improvement over Pages v5+.

  • Text box in Pages 5.5.2 won't select

I've tried to select a text box in Pages 5.5.2 and it won't let me select it.

Move your mouse pointer across your document near the Text box. Click at the point where it transitions from an i-beam (body text) to a northwest black pointer (Text box), and your Text box will select.

  • Connect two floating text boxes in Pages so the text continues

    Hi,
I'd like to connect two floating text boxes in Pages 5.0 so text continues beetween them. I'm sure that in Pages '08 this function was implemented, is there some way to do this on the new version? Thanks!!

No, feature removed allong with over 90 others:
    http://www.freeforum101.com/iworktipsntrick/viewforum.php?f=22&mforum=iworktipsn trick
Pages '08 or Pages '09 should still be in your Applications/iWork folder.
Trash/archive Pages 5 and rate & review it in the App Store.

  • Data Merge, multiple records, one text box, one page

I need to my data to merge in one text box on multiple lines.
    Example:
    My TXT file:
    Name
    Mary
    Bob
    Paul
I want my InDesign file to look like this: (one text box, one page)
    Mary
    Bob
    Paul
I don't want multiple pages or multiple text boxes. I hope this makes sense.
    TIA

Sorry, that's not how it works in Data Merge.
Your list will require multiple records per page, or a restucturing of the data (a better choice, in this case) so you have Name1, Name2, Name3 or something similar.
Have you considered just placing the text file?
How many records are you really using?

  • How do you put rules around a text box ina pages layout template? The inspector tab seems to allow rules on top, bottom or both, but not on all four sides.

How do you two format facing pages to appear as a single page for a photo spread?

It seems you have one question in the title and another in the post.
    1. Select the text box. In the Inspector palettes Graphic tab choose Stroke. You can chose Line or Frame.
    2. See this discussion Double Page Spread?

  • Blank space between text boxes after publishing

I have a few pages with a relatively large number of text boxes on them (perhaps 20). These are all separated by a few pixels in iWeb, but when I publish to .mac, I see quite a bit of space between them. Is this a known problem? Is there a fix?
    Thanks,
    Patrick

Go into iWeb and check that your text boxes are not overlapping each other. If they are, this can cause problems when publishing. Check that they do not overlap and re-publish and see what happens then.

  • How to change spacing between text boxes

In Pages, when I change something to multiple columns, it actually adds a large amount of space between what appears to be text boxes. If I enable "Show layout", it shows a border around the various "boxes" with the white space between them. How do I reduce this space and or remove it.

    Hi csing,
In a document from the "Informal Resume" template, I turned on these settings in the View Menu to help me see how the document is arranged:
Here is a some screen shots of the document. I added Borders to the text boxes for clarity. My notes are in red.
In My Humble Opinion, this template is all over the place like a mad dog's breakfast. Use the template for ideas. Then create your own template from
Menu > File > New from Template Chooser > Basic > Blank.
    Regards,
    Ian.

  • Equalizing spaces between text boxes

I have a presentation in which I have a few text boxes in a row/column format.  Each line of text is a single group, composed of two individual text boxes.  Is it possible to equalize the space between these line of text, and if so, how, instead of "eyeballing it" by clicking on the boxes and seeing if the borders are the same distance from each other?

Go to your Keynote Preferences and under the Rulers Tab check the box that says Show relative spacing.
