Tab groups are lost on exit

I usually keep a lot of tabs open and run Tab Groups Manager and Tab Mix Plus to help manage them. I use Firefox's session management to reopen the tabs at start.
Today I started Firefox and all the tabs were in one group. After sorting them and then restarting and losing them again, I changed from Tab Groups Manager to Tab Group Bar, and got some old groups. Started sorting them, then restarted Firefox, and lost all groups again.
The tabs are still there, all of them, they just aren't sorted by groups. What can I do?
I'm using Firefox 31.0.

In order to uninstall a possibly unwanted extension, please do the following:
#Click the menu button [[Image:New Fx Menu]] and choose Add-ons.
#Once the Add-on Manager has opened in a new tab, click the ''Extensions'' button on the left side of the window.
#You should now see a list of your installed extensions on the right side together with buttons on the right side of each extension.
#To remove an extension from Firefox, simply click the Remove button. You should see a message that informs you about the successful removal of the add-on.
#Note that some add-ons require a Firefox restart to be removed completely. To perform a Firefox restart after the add-on removal, click the ''Restart now'' link in the message.

  • Tabs and tab groups are lost

Closing Firefox and restarting it, invariably all my tab groups seem to have lost their tabs. Reopening hibernated groups or closed groups (using tab group manager add-on) will not help.
This did not happen on my previous install but since having upgraded to Kubuntu 14.04 and Firefox 29 (to be precise Firefox for Canonical 1.0) I keep losing my tabs and tab groups.
Do not know what mistake I am making.

    Thanks,
    Problem solved

  • Often when Firefox is closed and reopened ALL the tabs and tab groups are missising. FIX!!!!

For reasons that are unclear to me I sometimes close Firefox and later re-open it. In some cases ALL the tabs and tab groups are gone. Today it opened in MSN.com and ALL tabs were gone. I put a lot of pages on these and have NO WAY to find them all again. If this continues and you cannot give me a way to recall them I simply will have to go to another browser. It always happens when I need them most and don't have time to even track down one. It completely upsets my day, week, month whatever!!!.
Is there a way to get them back? Someone asked a similar question and was never given a useful answer.

I've begun having this problem as well. Reviewing the above, I seen no errors that I' making. A few weeks ago, without being aware of an update to Firefox, it began behaving differently than it has for years. I've always had it set to open to an empty tab, now it often opens to the 'Firefox Home Page' (which I've never used)... this despite resetting my opening page to "Show my windows and tabs from last time" (upon troubleshooting the 'home page issue' I found that the opening page had reset to FF Home somehow. I store a lot of pages in tab groups and having them disappear is a major bummer since they're news articles I'm waiting to copy.
Also... I run CCleaner weekly and I know that will erase the group tabs I've stored so before running it I have to store those URL's another way. Does anyone know what I can uncheck in CCleaner to keep those tabs?
    Thanks.

  • Tab Groups are empty when loaded from tab group list

I have several tab groups which have been working successfully.
Today whenever I open a tab group the number of tabs is set to zero and all my tabs are lost. In the Tab Group List they show as 7, 19 etc.

You can check for problems with the sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak files in the Firefox Profile Folder that store session data.
Delete the sessionstore.js file and possible sessionstore-##.js files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
*Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox
Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).

  • Tab Groups get jumbled on exit/restart

In FF3, I normally kept many windows open with many tabs each. With FF4 I decided to use Panorama / Tab Groups to organize things down to about 3 windows, two of which have about a half dozen named tab groups, each with about 2-10 tabs. If I restart FF (either by choosing Exit or using the Restart Firefox option after making a change to installed addons), many of the tabs that were in separate groups get moved into whichever group happens to be active, leaving my previously well-organized groups even more jumbled than they were in FF3; all the groups are still there, but the group that was active now has most of the tabs from the other groups, and the others are reduced to 1-4 tabs each.

  • When using Panorama, everytime I create a New Group, I am redirected to the Google Calendar App that I created. Tab groups are not being remembered. Any workaround?

I am trying to use Panorama for the first time. I can successfully create a tab group, but Firefox does not remember it. When I view a new web page and try to use "add to group" I am redirected to the app tab I created for Google Calendar. I am using Windows 7 64x with Firefox as my default browser.
Are there any know issues with the apps tap and Panorama?

I have a somewhat related problem running FF7 on WinXP32, specifically concerning your ''I can successfully create a tab group, but Firefox does not remember it.''
When I reopen FF, I find FF
    * ''sometimes'' does not remember all tab groups.
    * ''often'' seems to move at least 1 tab from one group to another.
    ''kursiver Text''
I am new to using this tab grouping feature, and I have not identified a specific and consistent misbehavior yet.

  • My tab groups are not being saved

Spend ages setting up groups but they're never there next time I open FireFox. What am I doing wrong??

App (pinned) tabs and Tab Groups (Panorama) are stored as part of the session data [1] in the file sessionstore.js [2] in the Firefox profile folder [3].
Make sure that you do not use "Clear Recent History" to clear the "Browsing History" when Firefox is closed because that prevails and prevents Firefox from opening tabs from the previous session.

It is also possible to use the "Show my windows and tabs from last time" setting, that is usually a more reliable way to restore session data.

  • Panorama tab groups are not snapping to the edges of other groups

I upgraded to Firefox 5.0 and the tab groups in the Panorama view are no longer snapping to the edges of other groups like it did in 4.0.x. Is there a setting for this someplace?

The LDAP graph is responsible for showing the membership when viewing the user properties, an issue like this would indicate the graph is not auto updating. It normally builds when starting the CMS then every 15 minutes or so for new users (depending on system activity). It shouldn't lose any info (if it does this indicates a caching or communication problem with AD). There is a graphtimeout setting in the registry (search SAP notes) if this were disabled then it may cause similar symptoms.
I'm not aware of any bugs in 3.1 causing this behavior so you may need to open a case with support (authentication team) to help troubleshoot.

  • I click the firefox icon more than one times during several seconds(in order to start firefox),and then my tabs and tab groups will lost!

    i use firefox30 on windows.
and i have more than 50 tabs.
sometimes firefox starts very slowly,so i click it many times and then when firefox shown,my tabs and tab group all gone!

    HI hirenloong,
I am sorry to hear that Firefox is slow on starting up. It sounds like you "Restore tabs from last time" and that there are 50 or more? [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-takes-long-time-start-up]
Please make sure that after the update that the antivirus is allowing Firefox to make the connections to those old tabs. [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firewalls]
Please post back with your troubleshooting results.

  • Why can't I save Tab Groups from one session to the next? When I restart, tab groups are cleared.

Why can't I save Tab Groups from one session to the next? Is there a way to save Tab Groups from the last session to the next time I start up?
    Mark Kipperman

Yeah, if this is the way it's supposed to work its a useless and, dare I say, stupid "feature". Wouldn't the whole point of this be to have quick access to groups of pages. If I have to select them each time to create the group what is it doing for me?

  • Tab Groups are moving above the top of the screen?

I love the new panorama, but something I noticed that seems to have gotten past beta without being fixed is that occasionally my tab groups jump up so that the top of them is past the top of the browser screen. It's not a major issue, I can just grab them and bring them back down, but still, it's not ''supposed'' to do that.

  • Firefox 6.0 apears to have crashed, all my tabs and the new tab groups too are lost, Why?

When opening Firefox this time-today, shortly after (a few days ago) updating to the Firefox 6.0 update and setting up the new Tab Groups, now none of my Tabs or Tab groups are showing/available (I checked the Tab Groups area also).
What the heck happened and how can I get them all back?

I'm sorry, but this did not help solve my issue with Firefox 6.0, as I already had my Firefox configured for restore (utilizing all of the methods suggested, because of many issues over the years and revs.); the History will not allow a restore of all tabs from the time before the loss; the "This is Embarrassing" screen did not come up this time, but it has numerous times prior to the rev 6.0 update. This time everything was just lost completely.

  • My group tabs are lost once I close Firefox. According to the NY times article of April 21 2011, these tabs are supposed to stay on your browser after you shut it down.

Are these group tabs supposed to stay on your browser ?

I have the same problem. As soon as I close Firefox and start a new session, the tab groups are gone. And No, "clear history" is not checked in my settings either. Please fix this - this is a great feature and I would love to use it! (Running FF 4.0 on Win Vista, 64 bit system.)

  • Open tabs lost on exit after syncing

After selecting the new option to sync my settings with my new account, I selected to sync everything except for Passwords and History. But since then, Firefox does not save my open tabs, even though I selected that option. It does not appear to save them locally either.
Under Options -> General, I have "When Firefox starts: Show my windows and tabs from last time". I have tried restarting both Firefox and my PC (on which I just performed a fresh install of Win7 64-bit). Any new tabs I open are lost upon exiting. I did not sync my account prior to the Windows reinstall, and Firefox was preserving open tabs just fine after I had restored my profile following the reinstall. It was only after setting up the account syncing that this became an issue.

Thanks. When I tried "about:synced-tabs" earlier, I got:
    The address isn't valid
The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded.
Web addresses are usually written like http://www.example.com/
Make sure that you're using forward slashes (i.e. /).
I still get that error. However, some of the other about pages do work this time.
As for the about:sync-log, I was getting errors earlier today, but now it shows success. (Nothing has changed since this morning.) Sorry, don't know how to use pastebin.mozilla.org.
I did notice earlier that all the bookmarks in my bookmarks toolbar got corrupted, and I was forced to fix them manually by deleting everything and adding them back. I'm not sure if that's related. But, again, I only get an error why trying to look at about:synced-tabs.
