Tab in Barcode
Hi All
We are facing a very typical problem with barcodes.
Till this date we were printing a barcode on an output which contained a tab feed between two fields, to enable automatic switch to the next field upon scanning by a RF device. This worked perfectly.
The tab has been inserted using cl_abap_char_utilities=>horizontal_tab.
Recently, we upgraded our system (ECC 5.0) to SP24 and now the tab character is no longer recognised by the RF device.
I created a report to write a file on appl. server with tab separated values, and when i download the text file to my windows pc, the text is tab separated. However if i take a print of an output using similar code, i see a '#' instead of a tab space.
I suspect it is due to some changes in the way SAP interprets the hex characters in the kernel while printing. Also checked OSS, but found nothing relevant to printing.
Any pointers will be useful.

Hi
Use "\0x09" for tab delimitor in string while barcoding

Hi All ,
If we need a horizantal tab in SAP , we use cl_abap_char_utilities=>HORIZONTAL_TAB.
What we should enter if we need to enter same value using keyboard.
The requirement is to insert horizantal tab between two values (manually entered in an excel ).
And this horizontal tab should get recognized by barcode reader as horizontal tab.
Thanks and Regards ,
VivekDear Vivek,
For putting TAB and NEWLINE in Barcode we can use Hexa Decimal. I am giving example , i am using ~ tiled sign for field seperation, this can be used as per required guide line.:
CONCATENATE g_docno '~' exdat_c '~' blwbno '~' j_1iexchdr-exnum '~' exdat_c '~' '\0x09' '\&'
vbak-bstnk '~' poitem '~' barcodeqty '~' 'TO' '~' lips-aeskd '~' batchno '~' manufdate_c '`'
INTO barcodetext.
Please Note that:
1. This Hexa decimal '\0x09' is used for TAB definition
2. '\&' is used for new line feed, this is basically (Carriage Return + Newline) as per SAP Note 645158 - New bar code technology.
On place of '\&' we can use these two code with togather '\0x0D' '\0x0A' which means we give instruction first do Carriage Return ('\0x0D') then feed the New line '\0x0A' .But intresting part is that UNIX based system understand '\0x0A' means (Carriage Return + Newline) where as window based system does not so we have to give to Hexa decimal like '\0x0D' '\0x0A' together.
I have seen This class cl_abap_char_utilities=>HORIZONTAL_TAB does not work properly nither for TAB nor For NEWLINE.
Hope this will help to many who got problem with BARCODE (NEWLINE and TAB)

Issues with AR Invoice form after sending barcode and tab data to PC
Hi,
We have a barcode system to scan ItemCodes and send 5 x tabs 'keypresses' to the checkout users PC.
This basically populates all the required fields on the AR Invoice row and jumps down to the next row ready for the next barcode.
We have recently upgrading to 8.8, and we have developed an annoying issue. Intermittently, the PCs not behaving as expected. Here are some of the bad results we have experienced:
1. The barcode scan is done, but the tabs being sent to the PC are not registered.. The PC just sits there with the cursor at the end of the (populated) ItemCode box without recognising that tabs have been sent
2. The barcode scan is done and the ItemCode box is populated as expected. However SAP has not processed all the expected tabs and the cursor remains one of the next few fields awaiting user input.
3. As above the barcode scan is done and the ItemCode box is populated as expected. However SAP has not processed all the expected tabs. Also, the cursor is not present within the current 'selected' field - it seems to have almost lost focus from the fields on the form. Note: the SAP window remains the active Window.
All of this means that the processing of Invoices is being delayed as tabs are not being processing and form focus is being lost.
The form settings are correct as they are unchanged from being working to suddenly stopping working. The issue is occasionally resolved by a reboot of the client PC in question.
Is this a known issue in 8.8? If not, is this most likely to be caused by display issues or SAP 8.8 not being able to handle the receipt of tab commands in such quick sucession?
Any pointers or comments from your experience would be appreciated.
Regards
OBWhich patch level are you using as this should be fixxed. I would also look if there are any conflicts with the add-ons as there some major changes in the SDK.

We have an rdf report which prints Bar code in the starting page based on a custom procedure from MarkView. It works well with Oracle Reports.
But since the current report was a matrix report, we are changing it to a Linear report through Oracle XML Publisher Report.
We have all the things possible in the new Oracle XML Report.. But we are unable to print the Bar code data which is BLOB in the XML Report..
Can anyone help me on this? We have UAT dates around the corner..
We have an RTF Template .

Are you able to see the bar-code in pdf output in rtf layout (not thru concurrent request submission)?
Please check the following steps and see if you have missed one of these set-ups in XML Publisher administrator:
XML Publisher Administrator-->Administration
Font File--->Give font file name and Browse the bar code (3 of 9 in your case)--->Apply

How can i display barcodes in scripts
hi
experts can u help me for thisA barcode label is a special symbology to represent human readable information such as a material number or batch number
in machine readable format.
There are different symbologies for different applications and different industries. Luckily, you need not worry to much about that as the logistics supply chain has mostly standardized on 3 of 9 and 128 barcode symbologies - which all barcode readers support and which SAP support natively in it's printing protocols.
You can print barcodes from SAP by modifying an existing output form.
Behind every output form is a print program that collects all the data and then pass it to the form. The form contains the layout as well as the font, line and paragraph formats. These forms are designed using SAPScript (a very easy but frustratingly simplistic form format language) or SmartForms that is more of a graphical form design tool.
Barcodes are nothing more than a font definition and is part of the style sheet associated with a particular SAPScript form. The most important aspect is to place a parameter in the line of the form that points to the data element that you want to represent as barcode on the form, i.e. material number. Next you need to set the font for that parameter value to one of the supported barcode symbologies.
The next part of the equation can be a bit tricky as you will need to get a printer to print that barcode font. Regular laser printers does not normally print barcode fonts, only specialized industrial printers that is specifically designed to support that protocol and that uses specialized label media and heat transfer (resin) ribbon to create the sharp image required for barcodes.
Not to fear though, there are two ways to get around this:
- You can have your IT department do some research -
most laser printers can accept a font cartridge/dimm chip (similar to computer memory), called a BarDIMM that will allow a laser printer to support the printing of barcodes.
- Secondly, you can buy software that you can upload in your SAP print Server that will convert the barcode symbology as an image that will print on a regular laser printer. I found that this option results in less sharper barcodes. This option is really if you need to convert a large quantity of printers (>10) to support barcodes.
- Thirdly, you can buy a third party software like Barcode.dll and install on your frontend PC connected to the laser printer.
To Create a Bar code prefix:
1) Go to T-code - SPAD -> Full Administration -> Click on Device Type -> Double click the device for which you wish to create the print control -> Click on Print Control tab ->Click on change mode -> Click the plus sign to add a row or prefix say SBP99 (Prefix must start with SBP) -> save you changes , it will ask for request -> create request and save
2) Now when you go to SE73 if you enter SBP00 for you device it will add the newly created Prefix
Create a character format C1.Assign a barcode to the character format.Check the check box for the barcode.
The place where you are using the field value use like this
<C1> &itab-field& </C1>.
You will get the field value in the form of barcode.
Which barcode printer are you using ? Can you download this file and see.

It will give an idea about barcode commands.

To create barcode go to transaction se73 Then System Bar codes.
There are some barcodes already present.
If they solve your purpose,use them otherwise create new ones.
The main characteristics of barcodes are
1) Min. Char
2)Max Char
3)Width
4)Height
Now in your sapscript create a character format.
There you can see an option to select barcode.
From there select the appropriate type.
Now use this character format for the field you want to display the barcode.

Hi
I have a requirement where I need to print the barcode System Bar code = BC_93
satisfying the following requirement:
The Bar code is made up of the concatenation of code1 , dash character
and code2. The two codes ( that is some field in a custom table) should be
eight char long each (put leading zero if the length of the code is shorter).
This barcode shall be printed always apart from:
a) code1 material type is ZCPF
b )Is a combi order, with no code2 stored in storage location abc
please help with example . its very urgent , points will be rewarded.

How to print a Barcode VERTICALLY in a SAP Script ?
Dear Experts..
I have to print a Barcode <b>vertically</b> in a SAP Script.
Could you please help me regarding this.
Thanks in advance.Hey SR,
follow these steps :
Bar code in Smartform :
General definition of Bar code:
Bar codes are standardized characters of a symbol made up of a group of lines and spaces that can be recognized by an optical scanner. Bar codes uniquely identify article data, production numbers or transport units, for example. They can also contain additional information such as batch number, expiration date or weight.
Example
In the Logistics Execution System (LES), certain field entries can be represented by bar codes and printed on the transfer documents. This simplifies certain data entry processes such as order confirmation.
Type of bar code:
Bar codes are based on a binary principle and consist of a series of stripes/gaps of different widths. The sequence of the stripes or gaps results in an (alpha) numeric statement. Bar codes are read optically. Due to varying requirements, bar codes may differ with regard to the following aspects:
printer tolerance
decoding tolerance
character width
automatic check
number of characters
Steps to implement bar code in the smartform:
Use the transaction code smartstyle. Give a suitable name .Choose create.
In change mode of the Smart Style select the Character formats node and choose Create.
In the Character format field enter a two-character character key.
Select the desired attributes of the Bar Code on the tab Standard Settings.
Choose Activate.
Assign the character format to the field or character string in the smartform.
Activate the smartform.
Test the same.

Barcoding -- Special Characters
I am using Oralce 10g Reports Builder to build a report, that would barcode some special characters like TAB, CARRIAGE RETURN, LINE FEED(NEW LINE) etc. I am currently using the oraclebarcode.jar(java bean) method to develop such barcodes. But this ends up with an error!
REP -1401 'formulacol' fatal PL/SQL error occured
ORA-39565 Message 39565 not found Product=RDBMS; Facility=ORA
My code that i use for this formula_col is
function CF_1Formula return Char is
myFileName varchar2(500);
result varchar2(500);
barcodeData VarChar2(50) := :chr_008;
begin
if :chr_008 is not NULL then
myFileName := srw.create_temporary_filename;
barcodemaker.setBarWidthInch_8345(globals.bcobj, 0.005);
barcodemaker.setBaseCodeData_6913(globals.bcobj,barcodeData);
barcodemaker.setBarCodeType_6913(globals.bcobj,globals.barcode_to_use);
barcodemaker.setFullPath_6913(globals.bcobj, myFileName);
barcodemaker.renderBarCode_9797(globals.bcobj);
return(myFileName);
else
return(' ');
end if;
end;
the same code produces barcode for any othe characters(normal characters, 0-9, A-Z, a-z), but spits the above error only if i try it for special characters.
Any help to generate barcodes for such special non-printable characters would be greatly appreciated
SrivatsanI can't find any .plist files in
Home/Library/Preferences that refer to CharPalette,
Surely you must have one called
com.apple.CharPaletteServer.plist?
also how can I find files which start with a period
We're not talking about files that begin with a ., but rather files that end in .plist. -

Spry tabbed panels, opening a tabbed panel, problem with IE
i've have made a site, with tabbed panels,
all the pages are made of a template;
everythings works fine; in Firefox and Opera,
but only in IE when i open a tabbed panel from a menubar, the contents is opened behind my header location;
i've used spry 1.6.1 and spryUtils to open the tabbed panel.
because there no other posibilty to open a tabbed panel from my other page.
i've tested the site on CSS and all, and i've don't get any errors.
this site is only on our intranet, and DVD;
so is not a online site
i' dont have anything modified in the java script.
just changed some minor adjustments to the CSS of the tabbed panels
The page is containing a fixed footer and header, FOR all browsers therefore is the CSS IE hacks also.
and all other functions work normal.
i'm only a beginner at this

How to print three different Barcodes in the same line
I am trying to print Barcodes for three different fields in a single line, it is taking the combined one & printing only one barcode for all those three fields.
When I tested it by printing them in diff lines, it is working fine. But the requirement is to print all fields in the same lineHi
Look at this , may be useful
Can you download this file and see.
http://www.servopack.de/Files/HB/ZPLcommands.pdf.
It will give an idea about barcode commands.

Detailed information about SAP Barcodes
A barcode solution consists of the following:
- a barcode printer
- a barcode reader
- a mobile data collection application/program
A barcode label is a special symbology to represent human readable information such as a material number or batch number
in machine readable format.

How to create a new BARCODE PREFIX (for SAPScripts)
In SE73 transaction, we can create a NEW printer barcode. For this we require 'barcode prefix' .There are some SAP standard barcode prefixes(for eg.SBP01)...but I want to create a new barcode prefix..
Please let know how to create a new BARCODE PREFIX.
SE73->Printer barcodes (radiobutton)->change->select one dev.type (dbl click)->create.
here we get a popup for the creation ..asking for BARCODE PREFIX which should be existing in TFO05 table...Hi ,
Please follow following process
1) Go to T-code - SPAD -> Full Administration -> Click on Device Type -> Double click the device for which you wish to create the print control -> Click on Print Control tab ->Click on change mode -> Click the plus sign to add a row or prefix say SBP99 (Prefix must start with SBP) -> save you changes , it will ask for request -> create request and save
2) Now when you go to SE73 if you enter SBP00 for you device it will add the newly created Prefix
Hope this helps
Thanks

Cannot print document with added barcode text boxes
G'day
I'm adding two text boxes to an illustrator document with Applescript, but when I go to print, ?I get an error 'Cannot print the illustration. The Color Management settings are inconsistent.'
The error message is not error trappable.
I have to barcode thousands of documents a year, and this is a big deal breaker. Is there any fix, please?

end tryG'day Owen, & W_J_T.
Unfortunately your suggestions did not work for me.
I've tried using the GUI to access the print dialog box, but as usual with Adobe, they've stuffed that up too. What I did find however, that the print dialog box recognised keystrokes, and always defaults to the Printer box when opening.
Also, the Printer box sets itself to a matching item of whatever key is pressed, and so does the Printer Preset box.
So, even tho I can't select any given box, provided I have a Printer Preset set, I can access it by the following (slower) method...
activate
tell application "System Events" to tell process "Adobe Illustrator"
keystroke "p" using command down
keystroke (character 1 of (my theLargePagePrinter as text)) as text
repeat 17 times
keystroke tab
tell current application to delay 0.1
end repeat
keystroke (character 1 of (my theLargePagePrinter as text)) as text
keystroke return
end tell
Note that if you have more than one printer or Printer Preset starting with the same letter, then you'll have to use more than just the first character of your printer name.

Help with scripting a period in barcode between fields.
Good Morning,
I need help scripting a barcode that has a period as a separator in between fields.
I have 3 fields that I need all encoded in to one barcode and need a period as separators.
EMPID
FormName
EMPSSN
I need barcode to read as follows
EMPID.FormName.EMPSSN
546514.Harvest123.555284569
I am very new to this and any help would be greatly appreciated.When you go to the Barcode's Value tab and select "Custom calculation script", you get an empty template of how the barcode's value is calculated, which you can then fill-in with the names of the form fields. You can also edit the separator used between the values. I'm not sure the result is a valid barcode, strictly speaking, but it works. Here's the code I used:
/* Customize: */
function bMemberOf(strName, aStrNames)
for (var nMembIdx in aStrNames)
if (strName == aStrNames[nMembIdx])
return true;
return false;
function strTabDelimited(oParam)
var bNeedTab = false;
var strNames = "";
var strValues = "";
for (var i = 0; i < oParam.oDoc.numFields; ++i)
var strFieldName = oParam.oDoc.getNthFieldName(i);
if ((null == oParam.aFields || bMemberOf(strFieldName, oParam.aFields))
&& (null == oParam.strXclField || strFieldName != oParam.strXclField)
&& (oParam.oDoc.getField(strFieldName).type != "button"))
if (bNeedTab)
if (oParam.bFieldNames)
strNames += "."; // I changed these two lines so the separator is a period instead of the default tab
strValues += ".";
if (oParam.bFieldNames)
strNames += strFieldName;
strValues += oParam.oDoc.getField(strFieldName).value;
bNeedTab = true;
if (oParam.bFieldNames)
return strNames + "\n" + strValues;
else
return strValues;
try
if ( app.viewerVersion >= ADBE.PMD_Need_Version )
event.value = strTabDelimited({oDoc: this, aFields: ["EMPID", "FormName", "EMPSSN"], bFieldNames: true});
else event.value = " ";
catch (e)
event.value = " ";
