Tab through cells in a table created in Pages
In 5.0 when I create a table I cannot tab through the cells. Is there a setting I'm missing here? Why must I use the arrow keys?

Thanks. I hadn't considered that and yes it works but not the same way it did before. Prior to the change if you made a change in the cell you could double tab to move onto the next one. Now you must use option + tab after making the change to go onto the next cell.

Note- I am trying to figure out how to create and format tables in the latest version of the Pages app on an iPad air (iOS 8.1.1.1) . Creating tables, adding or removing borders for individual/all cells in a table seems straight forward. However the default border style seems to be a heavy black line. How do I change this?
I found the option add or remove borders for all/ individual cells in a table, however I can't find any option within style/format dialogue screens for changing colour or line thickness for table cells. Likewise I can't find any clear instructions on how to do this in apple help pages or support website
Btw- I'm assuming it is possible to customize/adjust the colour & thickness of selected lines in a table created in this app (it's fairly easy to do this word processing apps like MS Word) please let me know if this is not actually possible in PagesThey know perfectly well what they took out of Pages '09.

Pages '09 should still be in your Applications/iWork folder.
Archive/trash Pages 5 and rate/review it in the App Store, then get back to work.

I can no longer tab between cells in a table with pages 5.0.
I use pages everyday for filling in my work booking sheets. I need to have them synching to the cloud, so I can access the client information while on the road.
My booking sheet is basically a large table with many cells for name, address, phone number, etc. In pages 4.3 I could enter some information into the cell, hit the tab button, and it would go straight to the next cell in the table. This was a quick and easy way for me to fill out my forms on the computer.
Well, since the update, the tab button only moves the cursor over in the same cell, as opposed to the next cell. It is VERY rare to need to tab in a cell, as opposed to going to the next cell.
I did figure out that I could Option+ Tab to move to the next cell, but it is very hard to change my procedure of tabbing after all this timing doing it the other way.
Am I just missing a preferance to tab between cells, instead of inside a cell?

DaveOption-tab makes sense and can be done with the left hand's thumb/forefinger.
Using tab was always arse-backwards as it defeated the use of tab within the table cell.
Best to use both for what they always do:
Option tab or an arrow key (singular) to jump cells
tab to jump to the next tab in the text wherever it is within or without cells.
The contrary precedence was set by Microsoft and was a bad idea. In good UI you do not have shortucts reverse roles such that you need to pay excessive attention to the context.

I am unable to sort multiple columns in a table created in Pages.
I had been using Appleworks up until I installed Lion and have now switched to iWork. I created a table within a Pages document and am able to sort a single column (using the Table Inspector and choosing Sort from Edit Rows and Columns) but the Sort option is grayed out when I attempt to sort multiple columns.
In another post, someone talked about this being a problem if you have merged fields. I do not believe I have done this (to be honest I don't know the function of merging fields).

Not so. In the lower left corner of the window, there's an icon that looks like a piece of paper. If you see this:
you are in Sheet View, or normal, mode. If you see this:
You are in Print View mode. Now you see the icons for portrait and landscape modes. Click your choice. Then arrange your content to fit the pages as you wish.

Tabbing through cells of a JTable
I have a JTable that has the following columns:
Item, Desc, Qty1, Qty2, Qty3, Price
The only fields that are editable are the Qty columns.
Is there a way to make it so tabbing is only enabled to the Qty columns?
For example, if the the cursor is in the Qty1 column for Item 1, hitting tab would put the cursor in Qty2 for Item 1, then hitting tab again would put the cursor in Qty3 for Item 1, then hitting tab again would put the cursor in Qty1 for Item 2, etc. Basically, I would like the tabbing for the Qty columns only and to ignore the Item, Desc, and Price columns.REPOST

Creating a page - the best way to do it
Hi, I have used frontpage in the past and this weekend I
started learning how to use dreamweaver because it is much more
advanced. I was wondering how to format my page? I started using
cells, but had some problems, then I learned that it is a rather
old method so I started learning to use tables. Now today I see
that it isnt the best way to go ethere; because it will limit my
search engine hits (I understand if i have a page called
www.mysite.com/page; if I have a table then the content will be on
www.mysite.com/tablemain however that page is within the /page
directory.
So now I am just confused- what is the best method to make a
page? also I saw that it is ok to make a table for the navigation
bar, however if I do that I would have my nav. bar in one table,
but my main content would still be in another table..... wouldnt
this be bad?
any sugestions? my site is located here www.drcelly.com I
dont khow why it created another mini frame when I rezized the body
frame thogh- I had to resize it or it would be off range (text
extended beyond the banner).

A cell is in a table. So there would be no difference between
using cells
and using tables for your page. You are, however, correct
that neither of
these are the generally optimal way to approach your layout.
The last two
sentences of the paragraph above, though, are complete
gibberish - I don't
know where you are getting this from.
Do yourself a favor (if you are serious about this). Take a
break from DW,
and spend some time learning HTML and CSS. The more you know
about them,
the easier DW will become, and the more distance you can put
between
yourself and FP's wizard-based approach to web sites.

You're in luck. Create the first field and then right-click it (in Form Edit mode) and select Create Multiple Copies. You'll be able to specify how many copies of the fields to generate, and at what intervals. The nice thing is that although the properties of the new fields will be identical to the source one, they'll each have a unique name, so you'll get an instant "table" of fields.

i need to tab through the active cells which are already not seen on the table. i mean i can only tab through the cells which i see, i need to use the horizontal scrollbar to move to the cells which are not already seen.
can i programmatically change this behaviour?

Create a drop down list in a cell within a table ?
Is there a way to create a drop down list in a cell within a table ? Like the way it can be done in ms word or excell ? I dont mean an interactive pdf/form. I want to create a table in indesign which has drop down lists other people can use to populate a table quickly.
Not possible. InDesign isn't designed to be form-filling software. At best, it can create fields which can be passed on to a PDF file, which usually further has to be edited in Acrobat Pro.

On a tabbed panel I am trying to create a form, but I am having a couple of issues.
The coding on my form is yellow - I can't figure out what is wrong. Also, I can't see the tab on the browser, only in live view. I haven't loaded it to my site as I haven't finished it yet. I don't want to go any further, until I solve the issues I have now. Any ideas?

How do you sort a table that contains links to cells in another table?
This is something that I used to be able to do in Numbers but since 2 or 3 updates ago this doesn't seem to happen.
The problem I have is that I have a table that includes cells that are a sum of a number of cells from another table. When I try and sort by a column all the info in the cells change because, I imagine, the commands linking to the cells in the other table are offsetting by however many rows a particular row has moved.
This didn't used to happen; it used to hold on to the same data and links regardless of where the sort function moved a row to.
Had a look through the help pages but can't find anything about it. Has anyone found a way around this?

There are several ways to create sort-safe formulas. Without knowing what you are doing in your table it is hard to give specific advice but in general INDEX(), OFFSET() and I think INDIRECT() are sort safe- ie they will ocntinue to point to the same cell wherever they are in your sort.
If you want specific advice you would need to provide more info.

Any way to protect table cells? Prevent table modification?
I have Pages word processing document that contains a two-column label (it's a grading rubric, if you care). The left column labels the data. The right column contains numerical scores and a few cells that sum these up to create subtotals and a grand total.
Problem: how to protect the cells that should never be edited, such as the four (in this case) which contain formulas?
Additional problem: I have the left column set to "Return key moves to next cell." This works fine. But, if you accidently press the tab key, you end up creating another column. So, is there a way to protect the structure of the table?

The only feature available is : lock the entire table.
_Go to "Provide Pages Feedback" in the "Pages" menu_, describe what you wish.

Hello All,
I have an issue. Can you please tell me how to add 2 new tabs through the EEWB. I have already added 1 tab through EEWB. Now when I am trying to add 2 tab, the news fields get added in the 1 tab.
Please provide me some solution for that.

1. Create an entry for any standard tab in the screen flow in SPRO.
There you have to assign a custom dev programm which calls the new dynpro
2. Create the dynpro.
In case of a dynpro with new tabel, just assign a single container on it.
3. Create function modules for the dynpro.
Assuming you have a ALV container on the new dynpro, create function modules which
a) creates the ALV grid
b) refreshes the ALV grid
4. Create a custom dev Z Tables with required fields
5. Assign Z Table field catalog to the ALV grid
6. Handle data changes within the ALV
7. Use
a) CRM_INTLAY_GET_HEADER_GUID to receive the order information
b) CRM_EVENT_PUBLISH_OW to raise a save event for CRMD_ORder
c) CRM_ORDER_MAINTAIN to add something to the order (input fields are enough)
d) CRM_1O_INSTANCE_GET_UI to set action flag
--> all this will give CRMD_ORDER the information that data was changed (your new data)
9. Create function modules which will give you your data from the ALV grid
10. Use a BADI ORDER_SAVE to store your data on the database
I know it is quite short, but it should give you a hint.

Using a button and a textfield in the same cell of a table
I have been struggling with this problem for ages, please someone help...
I am trying to implement a table similar to NetBeans property sheet editor where you have a textfield and a button with "..." in the same table cell. The button is used to invoke a custom editor.
I have most things working, custom renderers, custom editors and such.
However, the focus interactions on the table seem completely screwed. Clicking in the editor causes the cell to switch to editing mode as expected. Pressing cursor down or tab, which should close the editor and move focus to the next cell down does not work - the editor closes but the focus disappears to a completely different component elsewhere on my GUI.
My textfield and button are on a JPanel, and I return that JPanel when getTableCellEditorComponent is called.
If I switch out the JPanel and instead return the textfield, the focus works as normal.
I've even looked at the NetBeans source but I can't work out what their trick is.
Any tips would be gratefully received.

I've tried some tricks (hacks) with getNextFocusableComponent and requestDefautFocus and such but with no success.
