Tab view in Safari

OK - sorry if this has been asked and answered - can't seem to find it.
Just updated to iOS7 (iPad2) and in Safari - I don't see a menu bar at the bottom of the screen. When I hit the add tab, I do have a menu that appears - but it only has private in the bottom left.
In most of the online demos/texts describing the new iOS7, there is a bottom right button that puts the tabs into 3D and then you can scroll through them etc. I just get the normal flat tab view and no option to view like that because the button/bar is missing.
What am I missing?

I have this issue also.  I am on ipad 2 with ios7.  It works on my iPhone 5c  we also have an ipad mini 2 updated to ios 7 that doesn't show the Rolodex tab view for safari.
Any ideas out there?
Apple, what is story. It is also NOT addressed in the safari section of your ios 7 manual for ipad

  • Tab View in Safari 6 on Mountain Lion is not activating with the Pinch Gesture.

    The pinch gesture that activates Tab View in Safari 6 is not working. I have the latest MacBook Pro 17" with an updated Mountain Lion OS.
    Everything else in Safari works fine, even the keyboard shortcut for Tab View works. Whether I pinch on my laptop trackpad or the standalone trackpad the pinch gesture doesn't activate the new Tab View feature.
    Anyone else have this issue?

    Sorry but what is the keyboard shortcut to activate tab view? KineticBranding, you said, "Everything else in Safari works fine, even the keyboard shortcut for Tab View works. " I've been looking everywhere for a keyboard alternative to the pinch out gesture that activates tab view. I am aware of cmd+shft+arrow to got left or right a tab, but is there a shortcut to activate tab view?
    Thank you.

    Hi,
    I am aware that pinching out activates tab view in Safari, but is there a keyboard shortcut that also does this? I am aware of cmd+shft+arrow to go left or right a tab, but is there a keyboard shortcut that will activate tab view as an alternative to the pinching out gesture?
    Thank you.

    Command-shift-\
    Or choose View -> Show All Tabs.

  • New safari tabs view doesn't work on iPad

    I have an iPad mini that I've just updated to iOS 8.02. When I use the Safari tabs view, I don't get any of the tabs that are open on my iMac or iPhone 5s. I notice that there's a spinning wheels near the wifi indicator but only the tabs on the iPad show up. This works fine on my iPhone but won't work on the iPad. Any ideas why? Seems I've been having many issues with this update I've never had before.

  • What is the function of show tab bar in safari setting?

    this tool is in setting > safari > show tab bar on/off
    any one know how it work

    Hey Samooo205,
    I see that you have some questions about the tab bar in Safari. Some information about this can be found in the following article:
    Safari 7 (Mavericks): Customize the Safari window
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH17153
    If you need help visually identifying the tab bar, you can find that information here:
    Safari 8 (Yosemite): View webpages in tabs
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH19261
    As it said in the first article, the tab bar option that you are wondering about only affects the behavior of the tab bar when there is only one tab open. If there are multiple tabs open, the tab bar will be shown, regardless of this setting. Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!
    Cheers,

  • How to close a tab(s) in Safari 5 (10.8)

    My friend just updated to 10.8 and she noticed that there is no more X to close tabs now. I have not installed 10.8 yet because I always wait untile 10.x.1 to come out to fix most glitches.
    I did some research and came across this: "Anyone who has a nasty habit of having too many tabs open will love Safari's new Tab View. Pinch to zoom out and you'll see all of your tabs laid out horizontally; swipe with two fingers to move from one to the next, and click on the one you want to open or click on the X to close it. We'd like to see Apple add a two-finger swipe up to close tabs in this view."
    But there is no way in **** Apple went and did that. And even right clicking on the tab and selecting close is illogical..
    So where is the X to simply close a tab now.
    Thanks for the info guys.
    Screenshot enclosed:

    ya I'm aware of the shortcut keys. Been using a mac since they came out. She is used to interaction with the mouse, hence the specific question as to where the X has gone.

  • Some webpages lose all font and layouts. This doesnt happen when viewed with safari

    I updated my website using iweb which worked fine previously. Now some of the pages have lost all formatting, the text is large and not as required, some images have been replaced with a repeat of the text. Yet other pages are fine!! All pages are fine when viewed on safari. Ive rejigged and reloaded the site many times but cant resolve the problem. HELP!!

    The good news is, the page looks fine in Windows 7.
    In case you haven't already tried this, when you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    (1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
    Use Ctrl+Shift+r (Mac: Command+Shift+r) to reload the page fresh from the server.
    Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
    (WIN) orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced<br>
    (MAC) Firefox menu > Preferences > Advanced
    On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
    If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
    (2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:
    * right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    * Tools menu > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.
    Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

    Safari problem:  when I switch back into safari from another application, the menu bar comes up but no tabs or windows.  What's going on?  Just started yesterday.  I have found a workaround: when I Command Tab back to safari, I hit command T to open a new tab and Command W to close it, and my other tabs are visible.
    I have tried shutting down, closing tabs, with no success.  What's going on and how can I fix it?
    Thanks,
    Cindi B
    PS:  I'm not sure of the actual OS level, but I have not allowed it to upgrade to Maverick yet; concerned about it because of a few things I've read...

    A Safari extension or third party plugin may be causing the menu bar issue.
    From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test. If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.
    If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.
    Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect:  Allow plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
    If that made a difference, instructions for troubleshooting plugins here.
    As for which OS X is installed.
    Click the Apple () menu top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac.
    The version is noted there.
    v10.6 Snow Leopard v10.7 Lion  v10.8 Mountain Lion
    It's your choice whether or not to upgrade to Mavericks. If you decide to do this, make sure your Mac meets the requirements noted here.

    OOPS! Too quick on the trigger to ask that question without trying anything. Sorry. Solved it by touching the bookmark icon.

  • Create a tab view item in obj-c for use in applescript studio

    I'm making an application with applescript studio. I want to be able to add tab view items to a tab view at the press of a button. The problem I have is applescript studio doesn't allow me to create a new tab view item. So I'm thinking I can create the tab view item using objective-c, pass that to my applescript, then add it to my tab view.
    In applescript I plan to use the following call methods to first create the tab view item object, and then add it to my tab view. The objective-c code which is called from the first line in the applescript code is below that. When I run my code I'm getting an error saying newTVI is not defined... so maybe you can see my error! Be kind to me because I'm new to objective-c and I'm sure that's where my problem lies. Anyway, I'd appreciate any help.
    ==Applescript calls to create and add a new tab view item
    set newTVI to call method "returnNewTabViewItem" of class "makeNewTabViewItem"
    call method "addTabViewItem:" of objMainTV with parameter newTVI
    ==Objective-c code to create the tab view item
    ==makeNewTabViewItem.h==
    #import <Cocoa/Cocoa.h>
    @interface makeNewTabViewItem : NSTabViewItem
    NSTabViewItem *newTVI;
    -(NSTabViewItem *)returnNewTabViewItem;
    @end
    == makeNewTabViewItem.m==
    #import "makeNewTabViewItem.h"
    @implementation makeNewTabViewItem
    -(NSTabViewItem *)returnNewTabViewItem
    newTVI = [[[NSTabViewItem alloc] initWithIdentifier:nil] autorelease];
    return newTVI;
    @end

    Please, any ideas?

    Hi Mary,
    I don't remember those arrows in 10.6, only 10.7 & up!?
    I have 10.6.8, as you do. To make your Safari full screen, make sure you have the left hand side of your safari page moved  all the way to the left.  Then move your cursor to the BOTTOM RIGHT CORNER of the safari page, and simply drag your page towards the lower right hand corner of the screen. NOTE: you will see a series of lines on the bottom right corner of the page, indicating where to place you cursor arrow.
