Tabbing Through Apps AND Open Documents???????

Hi all. Quick question.
I live by the CMD + Tab shortcut for Mac OS, I love it, it saves me a lot of time. Heres my question:
Is there a way to use the CMD + Tab shortcut to not only tab through applications but to also tab through open documents??
For instance, If I have have multiple Microsoft Word (or any application with more than one document open) files up and I want to tab through them, what is the shortcut for that??

Ferd gave you the keyboard shortcut you are looking for. Just to add another way, you can also easily navigate through open windows by clicking and holding on the app's icon in the Dock.

Since I upgraded to firefox 8, I get this error window that pops up says something about java. My tabs flicker or flash, the tabs will close and open in a new window then everything stops. Then firefox does not respond. When I get this error message, I have to close all tabs wait a few seconds then open it back up it will work for a little while and then do the same thing. I have disabled plug-ins that I do not use, I have cleared my cache and cookies, I am not happy at all with this new version. I waited a while before updating. The first time I was going to update, firefox would not let me keep my anti-virus plug-in. PLEASE HELP

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.

To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
#Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

I purchased the 30 day subscription of Adobe Pro for my Mac Air and downloaded the app and opened it as instructed. Nothing appears to happen after that and I have been unable to use Adobe Pro thus far.

I previously downloaded a trial version of Adobe Pro and had used it the last 30 days. Today I just clicked on the link from my purchase confirmation and downloaded some type of installer. Once I clicked on the installer and gave it permission to do whatever it needed to do, it just sort of stalled. I am running Mac OS Yosemite. I thought Yosemitie might be part of the problem because it has given me occasional problems with Word and some other programs.

Launching applications and opening documents

Generally there are two ways to start an application and open a document:
1)double click on the application, us the menu to open the document.
2)double click on a document, application starts, application loads document.
In writing a program, how do I do #2. Specifically how does the application determine what document to open? Is it passed in argc or by an event callback?
Can it only happen using Cocoa and carbon, or can it be done through a command line utility/standard tool?

It sounds like what you want is create a small Cocoa application that includes the code I posted above and register it as owning the suffix of the dataset. Let's call the application Opener and the suffix .datz.
When someone double-clicks on a .datz file the Opener application will be invoked and you will get the filepath to the invoking file in the supplied filename. That would give you the path and the opportunity (if you want to get fancy) to ask the user for where to save the data or do any other GUI stuff you want to do. You could also set-up Opener so that when someone opens if by double-clicking the application it asks them to navigate to the dataset they want to open. These things are actually pretty easy to do - check out NSSavePanel and NSOpenPanel - because the Cocoa classes give you a lot of rich GUI all pre-rolled. Then your application could invoke the Unix application from the command line supplying the source path (escaped for Unix) and the even the save destination path if you want to get fancy.
The application can then Quit itself - possibly after displaying feedback from the Unix app if there is any. Unfortunately while I know this is possible and there are a bunch of Unix commands wrapped in GUI interfaces for OS X - this isn't my strong suit. I know it can be as simple as:
system("ls -al");
But it also gets more complicated quickly if you want to do more. Then you need something like NSTask I can't help you the you may need to appeal here for someone with CLI invocation experience.

This is actually quite do-able. You're diving into the Cocoa GUI a little headfirst because your app is essentially all GUI so there may be some head scratching but its well within the realm of possibility.

Tabbing through apps

I used to be able to tab through the apps. Now when I tab for example to the mail, it doesn't always go to the app anymore. Its when I use the command / tab option. It is selcted but it doesn't go to the app often. Anyone know why?

Thank you. This does the job for "opened documents" in TextEdit and other applications. I wish there were a similar method for "open recent" items. Each application (TextEdit, BBEdit etc) seems to handle the "open recent" items in its own way!

Can't open app and open after downloading

i can't open the downloaded app and games in my ipod touch, i click the icons it appear 1 sec and fade back to main page, anyone can help me?

app crashing is very common.
two things to try:
1) reset the ipod (hold the home and sleep button until the silver apple comes up)
2) download a new app (any app)

Pages for iOS is crashing my phone when I try and open documents. Help!

I just got an iPhone 5S. I have had pages on my iPhone 5 and iPad mini with no issues but when I try and interact with any document on my phone now, the entire phone crashes - I get a blue screen of death - and my phone restarts. I have tried to delete the app and reload it but I get the same results. This does not happen on my mini and both are running iOS7. I do not have this issue with any other app.

If you read the link I posted above you, will be able to find my fix for this issue. Although it is temporary, it's the best were gonna get until Apple steps in.

Basically, just email all your documents in iCloud/on your iOS device to yourself so you have them backed up in a safe place. Then delete all your documents from pages. Quit the app and relaunch. It will stop crashing the entire phone.
New documents will not cause the rebooting issue.
If you edit a new document in the Beta Pages service on iCloud.com, your phone will start crashing again when you use pages.

How to Loop through App and finding popup Windows

Does anyone know how to loop through the app and find any

I guess application by default creates a SystemManager
object... So i used
this.systemManager.popUpChildren.numChildren and it gives me
0 all the time.. even though I have instances of windows to the
app.. According to the documentation this should give you the
number of popup children but it doesn't.. Any more ideas?

I Want to sign out of my previous icloud account because I was not able to get the free download of pages, numbers and keynote. So, now I want create a new account maybe I can get it. Bur Incase this does not work, if I sign into my previous account, will be able to get my photos, apps, mails and other documents back.

it is not icloud you need to sign out off, but itunes and app store for free apps.

Disable "Show Tab Order" default when opening document

I've been trying to figure out what I did to my installation of LiveCycle Designer but, on my workstation, it is somehow set to "Show Tab Order" by default when opening an existing PDF form for editing. This means that I have to turn off this feature EVERY TIME I open a document. It's really wearing on me as I open hundreads of PDF forms in a day's time. I'd say I've lost many hours of productivity just turning off this feature... Does anyone know how to turn off this display feature until requested?

Yes... at the moment, PDF final view control via InDesign is lacking... in fact it isn't there at all. This has to be done from Acrobat. However, it is possible to make actions in the action wizard so the process isn't so tedious. I have written about this elsewhere: See it at the final size – view size and Acrobat | Colecandoo!

Task switching (APPLE+TAB) between apps and spotlight window not possible

Hi, I opened a spotlight window to search for some items by pressing ALTCMDSpace and ran my search query. Then I task switched to my other app to look at some info, but when I tried to task switch back to the open Spotlight window I was unable to do so. The only way to get back to it was either to Exposé or to press ALTCMDSpace again. Not a natural flow to the way I and most other people probably work. Is this normal/a feature? I am sure it wouldn't be hard for Apple to add the hook to show the Spotlight window in the Task List (CMD+TAB)

Unfortunately, that's the way it works: You cannot Command-Tab to the Spotlight window. I see this as a design glitch, aka a "feature." As you note, it can be found using the Exposé "All Windows" (F9) function.
To let Apple know how you feel about this, I suggest you submit a Mac OS X Feedback. All Feedbacks are read and used to prioritize development investments.

HT2204 I have changed my apple ID and this has been verified by email and when i go on to my account but it is still registering on my IPad when I try to purchase anything through apps and iTunes I can't.

I have just had to change my apple ID on the apploid site and that worked. I got an email to verify and did so. Yet when I try to use my iPad to purchase it is still showing my old ID so I can't make a purchase through ITunes or apps. I have gone on my ID account a number of times and the new one does work to sign in. I can't work out how to get my IPad to recognise this change or edit in manually through the IPad

If the old ID ("email address") is your ID, and if your new ID was created by editing the details of this old ID (rather than being an entirely new ID), go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll. When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.
