Table border is not over-riding cell formatting

I'm using InDesign CS4. I've created a table and styled it with a Table Style which uses several cell styles. I have specified a table border in Table Setup, but it does not appear on my table. It maintains the formatting in the cells. "Preserve Local Formatting" is grayed out, so I cannot select or deselect it. The only way to get the border to show up is to manually apply a stroke using the Stroke palette. I do not want to use this solution. I want it to work in the Table Style.

Here is a useful bit of info from the InDesign CS4 online help:
Formatting precedence in styles
If a conflict occurs in formatting applied to a table cell, the following order of precedence determines which formatting is used:
Cell style precedence
1. Header/Footer 2. Left column/Right column 3. Body rows. For example, if a cell appears in both the header and the left column, the formatting from the header cell style is used.
Table style precedence
1. Cell overrides 2. Cell style 3. Cell styles applied from a table style 4. Table overrides 5. Table styles. For example, if you apply one fill using the Cell Options dialog box and another fill using the cell style, the fill from the Cell Options dialog box is used.

Table Border Colors Not Corresponding to CSS

Having an issue with tables not displaying their designated border colors. I think something is over-riding in CSS, but don't know how. Here is the page. I've assigned it a new class w/background-color, but it's not showing up - - just transparent borders. Thoughts?

Smartforms table border lines not printing (URGENT)

HI,
I am trying to print samrtform table border lines on Epson dot matrix printer, in print preview it showing table borders as thick black lines, while printing it not printing lines. It is printing data correctly. Can any one suggest the soution, it is very urgent.

Can you try to print in a different printer, if the error persists then the problem is in the smartform, otherwise raise a note to SAP regarding this. I think that there is problem is with the page format in which u are taking the printout.
OR
Can you check if you have selected the framed border in the table border select pattern.

Even I got annoyed due to this stupid thing ,
Let me share you how i worked around this ,
(1)Once you copied the table from Excel or Open office Calc, to thunderbird mail , It will appear the table with dotted line.
(2)Now you have to double click in any single cell it will prompt the ‘Table properties’ box .
(3)Now click on ‘Table ’ tab and under ‘Borders and Spacing’ Section set ‘Border’ ‘1’ instead of ‘0 ‘
That’s it ... it will show you the border lines of table copied from source file 

My embedded style is not over riding my external style?

I have an external style of #mainContent h1, text align center. Then I did the same rule except embedded it in the document and changed the text align to left, but it the text stays centered. Any ideas? Thanks.

You mean as in inline rule or as a rule in the head of the document. If it's an inline rule, it should take precendence, if it's in the head, it should be below the linked stylesheet.
It may pay for you to upload the pages and provide a link so people can see the page and the code to help see what the problem may be.

How do you change/adjust border width for all the cells in a table created in Pages?

How do you change/adjust border width for all the cells in a table created in Pages?
Note- I am trying to figure out how to create and format tables in the latest version of the Pages app on an iPad air (iOS 8.1.1.1) . Creating tables, adding or removing borders for individual/all cells in a table seems straight forward. However the default border style seems to be a heavy black line. How do I change this?
I found the option add or remove borders for all/ individual cells in a table, however I can't find any option within style/format dialogue screens for changing colour or line thickness for table cells. Likewise I can't find any clear instructions on how to do this in apple help pages or support website
Btw- I'm assuming it is possible to customize/adjust the colour & thickness of selected lines in a table created in this app (it's fairly easy to do this word processing apps like MS Word) please let me know if this is not actually possible in Pages

Pages '09 should still be in your Applications/iWork folder.
Archive/trash Pages 5 and rate/review it in the App Store, then get back to work.

Cell border will not hold.

A cell will not maintain a border. When I try to select which line to use, it immediately goes back to "none", thoughts?

Border format controls may be found in the Format bar near the top of the document window (top image) and in the Table Inspector (bottom image).
Note that there are four controls in the Format bar. The Inspector splits the first one, the border selection menu, into three sets of buttons. The remaining controls are uses to set the border Style, the border Width, and the Border Colour. If you use only the first (which is what I suspect you have done), you will have Selected the border that you want to change, but haven't specified what changes you want to make.
Here are the steps to set a wide, dashed red border on a set of three cells:
Select the cells to which the border will be applied.
In the Format bar, select the bottom border, using the first pop-up menu button.
When you release the mouse button,the blue Selection rectangle showing the three selected cells (above) will be replaces by a blue Selection line showing the bottom edge of these cells in selected. No change has yet been made to the border.
Use the Style button to choose the dashed line.
Use the Stroke Thickness button to choose 2 pt.
Click the Stroke Color Well and choose a Red from the Color Palette that opens.
The selection line will change to reflect each of these choices as it is made and applied to the selected border.
Click any unselected cell on the table to deselect the cells just changed, or click away from the table to deselect the whole table and view the changes.

Table Border not Showing

Hi there - for some reason a page on my site is not
displaying the right table border. All the other pages are working
fine. When I delete all of the testimonials (the content for the
page in question), then the border shows. I deleted the
testomonials one-by-one from the bottom up hoping I could learn
which testimonials has the issue. There must be a character that is
throwing it off. Any help would be appreciated.

Would you try changing the padding in your Tableborder CSS
from 25p to 23px?

I've been playing with this issue for a little while now.
It's very odd, and
only appears to happen in IE7.It doesn't happen in FF.
It's a very strange issue. Perhaps an IE bug.
I discovered removing the tag fixed it. Not a good
solution.
I tried to use CSS instead of the tag, same
trouble.
I put the tag back in and experimented some more
to find a better
solution.
I discovered I was able to make the right border re-appear in
IE7 by
removing 1 character from certain lines of text, or by making
the padding in
the table cell 2px smaller once I finished adding all the
text.
It appears this problem starts if you have an empty table
cell with padding
and type in multiple lines of text in design view, allowing
the lines to
autowrap as you type (no or new tags).
If one of those lines goes
full width, where a word ends precisely at the beginning of
the right
padding and then you add an EM tag, the border disappears in
IE7.
It's almost as if tilting the letters right with the
 tag (or CSS)when
there are precisely the maximum number of characters
permitted in that width
causes IE7 to lose the right border to accomodate the added
space of the
tilt.
Removing just 1 character or reducing the padding by 2px
after brings the
border back.
Very odd.

No table line started. Output to cell not possible

Hi Everybody:
I have developed a smartform where in if i give single record as input, it comes fine, but if more than one record is given thru selection scr, the error comes No table line started. Output to cell not possible when page break is issued.
Pls help as to why is it coming,
I also tried SF TRACE, but when i display the error, it says Cannot read from the database.

To print the internal table's data in the smartform you should use the TABLE.
LIke define a TABLE, inside the table define required table types.
Put your data inside your main ... under the Table by using one of the line type.

We have a 5s active on our account. After turning on a previously active 4s (it had the same number) The 5s can no longer place call and when you call it from another phone the 4s rings, but will not pick up. Texting over the cell networks works fine.

Currency cell format does not export to excel doc

Hi
i am using new numbers on my macbook also on new OSX mavrics
i have a invoice template that i have used for a good few years
it has a fair amount of formulas and cell formats running
the company i contract to uses windows based (office) system so i save the spreadsheet as an exel compatible file to send to them no problems
untill now
when i export to excel in ether .xls or .xlsx and open the document ether in numbers or on a windows pc on office 2007 all of the currency related cells are changed to 5 digits eg -£8295.00 instead of £25 and the cell format show custom
if i higlight the cell and change to curency the entrys chnge to the correct value
has any one witnessed this ?
it also is the same saving an excel sheet as a mac format CSV file and open that in numbers
please help

FF not showing table border style

I have a webpage with css table border style dotted. It shows up in IE but there is just a line around the table in FF. Is there a way to make it show up? Many thanks.

Table Border in Keynote

Can someones please help me figure out how to add a line border/outline to a table in Keynote 6.2? I recently upgraded and can't for the life of me figure this out.
I have tried what I assume should be the way to do it, but it doesn't do anything.
What I have tried is:
- Clicking on the table and selecting the whole table via the circle in the upper left corner
- Choosing the "Table" tab from the format inspector
- In the "Table Outline" section, choosing the preferred style of line, pt, and color
- Nothing happens

I am using OS X version 10.9.2
Something that I thought of is that the table I'm trying to add an outline to was originally created in an older version of keynote and has since been saved as the new version. I wonder if that has anything to do with it?
I went ahead and created a new table from scratch in the newest keynote version and was able to successfully add an outline to it through the same exact steps I had taken on the other table.
In my screenshots, the left table is the table orignially created in an older version of keynote, however, oddly enough I am able to add the outline to the table name, but not the table itself. The table on the right is the new table for which I was able to successfully add in the outline. I think I may have discovered that I just need to create a new table.

I've been searching and found this old thread of someone asking what is the input parameter "Number format". And I dont know what should I put in there. I've tried so many possibilities, but nothing works so far, such as:
0,0
0,?
0,#
#,0
?,0
and also with @, doesnt works. Where would I find help about this parameter?
I'm using Excel2003, german version, thus local decimal separator is a comma.
I also found this help from NI, but seems doesnt help me either. Do I miss something important?

I've used your suggestion and some numbers in excel doesnt need to get "right click, change to numbers" anymore (green indicators on the left-top side in some cells are gone). But, I think its still not a number, because I cant use a simple formula, such as in cell A10 I type "= A1/2" (cell A10 equals cell A1 divided with 2) . I got error which says its not a number.
Well, but other thing is found, any format-string I put in the input of Excel Set Cell Format.vi, such as #,########, will be shown the same as "customize #,########" if I right click in a cell in excel and click "Zellen formatieren" (formatting cell). But however, the numbers are still depends on the input of the format I put in the Append Table to Report.vi.
