Table cell problem

I have a table to hold a page together.
one of my rows is split into 2 cells. one is supposed to be
360 wide and the other 400. Table is 760 wide.
For some reason the left hand cell which should be 360 has
expanded out to 760. when i look at the table structure the green
guide info says 360 (760). How has this happened and how can I
change it. Every where i look nowhere shows the figures in the
brackets.
Any help would be appreciated as my right hand side cell has
disappeared from the screen

Table cells - Problem with merged cells

Hi
I was experiencing very weird behavior with my tables until I realized that it was caused by merged cells
My script gives a dialog which allows the user to choose from which column to start and from which row.
As the script iterates through the cells in the selection I was getting weird results
Through using .select() function I was able to see that depending on the column, some times row 5 could be which seems to be row 3!
The reason was because of merged cells in that row
I.e., when some cells are merged together, only the first column of those merged cells is recognized - the others are not
so it comes out that when merging cells from column 3 to 5, column 3 has a cell in that row, columns 4 and 5 do not, and column 6 does!
Is there a way to get around this behavior?

I don't understand the point of your post.
If you're trying to report a problem or "bug" with Pages, that is not the purpose of this user-to-user forum. You should leave feedback for the Pages team on this page.
I've not had a problem opening Word files with tables in Pages. If you're saying Word can't handle tables with merged cells, then don't use merged cells in files you are going to export as Word. Word & Pages must handle merged table cells differently, as I know both can do that. As far as RTF, Pages can open & export as RTF. Again, if you are going to export as RTF, don't use tables. Neither of these is a fault of Pages, just limitations of the formats/programs.

Noobie table cell problem

I have text in a table cell that turns over to a new line, but won't indent where I want it to. I see instructions on how to get 'main' text in a cell to behave, but nothing about how to control text that turns over. I can't change the width of the table, or the cell. What to do? See pic below: turnover text at black arrow needs to align with vertical black line, as other cells do.
I'm sure this is something that's dog-simple but darned if I can figure it out.

Thanks much, Peter. I have not yet found which button/command controls the indent -- when I try to move table text left or right, nothing seems to move it, but will experiment. I had assumed the concepts were similar to HTML's cell padding and whatnot, but maybe that's an erroneous assumption.

Problem in table cell editor

I inserted as a dropdownkey in table, Parent node ABc is bind to table , the child node DEf bind to coloumn dropdownbyindex. i set child node singleton as false, but its giving null pointer exception.

happy to see you again, I think I am in wrong with creating table cell editor.
i will say my requirement please help me to do:
in the table the first coloumn is number, second one is name, third one is *** ,this coloumn contains two standard Strings male and female, the can select from dropdown index.
what i did is I created context node parent ABC
in that attributes name , age and another node DEF having attribute S.
I created a table and bind the node ABC(its not allow me to check DEF node).
i deleted table cell editor of column *** and created new editor dropdownindex. and binded texts is node DEF
DEF is set to singleton false.
Give me the suggetion.

Problems placing graphic into table cell. It makes the iPad locks up when previewing that page.

I have 3 table cells that need a jpeg graphic placed into them.
I can paste a grahic into a table cell, but when i try to preview that page on the iPad, ibook shuts down. I must be placing the graphic wrong or formats are wrong, like object wrap or "inline" "floating" or "anchored". the graphic shows up in the fill once I copy and paste into the cell, but it doesnt show up when I look at the file info in the inspector. Also, once I preview the iBook author project on my iPad, that page will shut down the iBook app.

Well KT.....I tried that. But it still didnt work. I have 2 pages that have tables. The first page is just a full page with text only with a gradient colored screen in the table column heads. The 2nd page has the graphic illustration in the 3 table cells. Both pages shut down when opened to full screen view. But when i remove the graphic, there is no problem with a shut down. I know its got to be something you have to do but is unwritten in any manual.

Problem with images inside of table cells

I've run into a problem on this web page:

The the background of the table cells which contain an image

through in the form of a strip at the bottom of the cell. You

this as a black strip in the cells which contain the logo

centerpiece photo, and the photo strip and as a blue strip

These problems are appearing in Firefox. It almost looks
correct in
IE6/7 except that the blue strip appears under the bottom
photos.
Can anyone see what I am doing wrong?

The best practice is to include -
a img { border:none; }
in your CSS so that any image inside an anchor tag is
prevented from having
the border.

Problem updating table Cell display

Hi, any ideas about this problem would be very much appreciated Ive had it for 6 months but have been unable to get to the bottom of it.
I have an application which contains a JSplitPane with two tables , when the application starts both tables contain the same data. The 1st table is a read view, the bottom display is an edit view. When I make a change to a table cell in the bottom view it changes colour and the corresponding cell in the top view also changes it colour (bit not value) to indicate that the cell has been edited.
The problem is that the top cell only changes colour if the top cell as displayed is large enough to show the complete value. If i then click on the cell in the top view it will correctly change colour. If I move the columns in the top pane about a bit, all subsequent modifications in the bottom pane will correctly change the cell colour in the top pane !
(My renderer extends JPanel rather than JLabel.)

Make sure you fire the appropriate fireTableCellUpdated() method from both TableModel's so that the view knows to redraw that cell. Ideally, both of your tables would share the same table model, but only one would allow editing. You could accomplish that by putting a facade table model over top the real table model that just overrode the isEditable method to reutrn false always, and all other methods would pass through to the real model. That way as changes were made to the table model (no matter who made the change), the views would stay in sync because they were based on the same model, getting all the same events, etc.

Mail.app: text in table cells in incoming formatted mail - problems replying

mail.app 7.2, threading enabled
Sometimes I receive a formatted email that is really difficult to reply to, when I want to intersperse my reply text among the incoming paragraphs.
The trouble occurs when multiple incoming paragraphs are grouped. I can’t open up vertical space for my reply text inside the groups.
If I click anywhere in the group, mail.app marks the group with a surrounding rounded-corner grey rectangle, with a X-in-a-circle “close icon” at the upper left corner.
When I look at the raw source of the incoming message, I see that the groups correspond to table cells, that is, the sending mail client enclosed the paragraphs within a <td> … </td> pair.
The sending email client is sending me a table, for no clear reason — the group doesn’t correspond to anything obvious in the message thread.
I’m guessing we won’t ever know why some email clients group paragraphs like this, but I’d like to do my best to adapt, so I can keep up with my incoming email.
Yeah, I can ask my correspondents to use a different email client, or perhaps different settings in the same client, but except for the few tekkies among my correspondents, this isn’t really practical. I can also ask my clients to use unformatted messages, but THAT is a whole different issue, and frequently isn’t practical, either.
My questions:
Q1: What’s the point of the grey rectangle and the “close icon”? (Is this mail.app’s way of saying, “I received this crazy formatting, almost impossible to process, so I’m making it easy for you to just delete the whole mess”? Or what?)
Q2: Is there any SIMPLE way to untangle (modify or remove) these groupings within mail.app? (I guess I can access the raw html, copy-and-paste it into another app, modify it, and paste the results back into my reply. Yuck!)
Q3: Am I missing a really obvious work-around or fix?

In your question, you indicated that you are running Firefox 8. Is that correct? It might be difficult to diagnose issues with that version because most people have moved on to Firefox 12 (plus or minus 1 version). Can you upgrade?
It's hard to think of a reason that ordinary text or links in ordinary text would not display. For embedded images or videos, one possibility is a difference in the protocol, i.e., HTTP (not secure) versus HTTPS (secure).
Hopefully someone else will have a better guess (or actual knowledge!).
Regarding the blue lines in a message, that usually indicates the earlier message was forwarded a few times. I don't know whether Gmail will let you reformat that area or whether you have to clean it in another application (e.g., for plain text, in Notepad) and paste it back in.

Problem with table cells

actually i wanted to know that is there any way
so that i can show contents of a table cell in two pages, i.e, half the cell is in one page and other half of the cell on another page
as my cell content is very large it do not fit in one page.

JComboBox table cell renderer problem

The following program demonstrates a difference in behavior of table cell editor combobox based on whether the combo box is editable or not. If the ComboBox is editable, then the first click into the table cell starts the edit and shows the popup, whereas if the combobox is not editable then it takes 2 clicks into the cell to cause the popup to become visible. I am trying to achieve the 1 click popup behavior while keeping the combobox not editable. Run the following program, and click on various cells, the top table requires 2 clicks for a popup, and the bottom table only 1. The only difference is the editablility of the combobox. (This is windows l&f)

Highlighting text in a table cell

Im trying to get text in a table have it background shaded a different colour to the rest of the table cell but it doesnt work. No exceptions are thrown does anyone have any idea.

Put that in your cell editor or its base class. You can change the color or whatever you want. I think the problem is a timing thing where normal focus processing is interrupting your changes. So give the focus processing time to run with this Runnable triggering your processing to occur on the Awt thread (as is proper) after the system is doing whatever it wants to do. How to create a context menu in ALV table cell editor(Webdynpro abap )

I am having a problem in creating a context menu in a table cell editor in the ALV table output.I have assigned a 'lta' as the cell editor.But befor assigning the lta as cell editor I have assigned the menu to the lta.But when the view is rendered I can see the lta with the actioned assigned to it.But I cannot see the context menu.

I have not come across this requirement till now to have context menu in a cell editor of alv.
Unfortunately the implementation of method SET_MENU of alv ui elements ( ex: cl_salv_wd_uie_text_view ) is not updating alv configurable table, instead it just stores in a global attribute as string. Hence has no effect on context menu.
If your user is very particular about this requirement of having context menu in cell editor, you can go for a normal table. Because, normal table's cell editor has the property to set the menuID as we do it for other ui elements.

How can I write into a table cell (row, column are given) in a database using LabVIEW Database Toolkit? I am using Ms Access. Suppose I have three columns in a table, I write 1st row of 1st column, then 1st row of 3rd column. The problem I am having is after writing the 1st row 1st column, the reference goes to second row and if I write into 3rd column, it goes to 2nd row 3rd column. Any suggestion?

When you do a SQL INSERT command, you create a new row. If you want to change an existing row, you have to use the UPDATE command (i.e. UPDATE tablename SET column = value WHERE some_column=some_value). The some_column could be the unique ID of each row, a date/time, etc.
I have no idea what function to use in the toolkit to execute a SQL command since I don't use the toolkit. I also don't understand why you just don't do a single INSERT. It would be much faster.

Carriage return in a WD table cell

Hi,
I have data in a table cell which I would like to present better by adding a carriage returns so that it appears on more than one line for example as bullet points.
I can format it using HTML but cant seem to be able to find out how to set encode to true for that cell.
Has anyone come across this problem before, or even have a simpler solution.
