Table Direction in Numbers ..

How can i change the direction of a table in Numbers from left-right (first cell on the left) to right-left (first cell on the right).
I used Numbers help to search for this topic and i found the solution, but the options were not available.
I searched for "reverse table direction".

B,
I saw a discussion on this recently here, but can't find it. My recollection is that the gist of the discussion was that the recently improved RTL support didn't extend fully to iWork Tables.
Take a look at this BLOG for further information on this issue. There is no solution there, but it may be a place for you to keep tabs on the progress of this issue.

  • How to reverse table direction

Hi, i've noticed that there is a way to reverse a table direction in the "Help" menu, but, the steps given to reverse the table direction doesn't work!
After selecting the table, you are supposed to choose "Format" -> "Table" -> "Reverse Table Direction" but there is no such option! I can't even locate the "Table" inside "Format".
    Any help...?
    Thanks,
    Tal.

What version of Numbers are you asking about?
In Numbers 3.2.x you can see there is no menu item :
maybe the help you are referring to is for the Yosimite version of Numbers?
I'm on Numbers 3.5, which is the latest version of Numbers.
You are right about Numbers 3.2.x versions that didn't have any option of "Table" inside "Format", but this option didn't appear in the Numbers Help also.
After updating to Numbers 3.5, I checked this specific subject and saw that it is in the Help menu, so I thought it is a new feature they added to the app.
For some reason, there is a documentation for it in the Help menu of the app, but no sign of it in the app itself.
This is definitely a mistake by Apple. No way there is documentation for it in the Help menu but no sign for it in the app itself. Something is wrong here...

  • Table and figure numbering in multi-chapter book

Using InDesign CC 2014 I am editing a book that consists of 23 chapters. Each chapters are added to the book separately. There are 5 levels of titles, level 1-4 is numbered (first level is the chapter title), the 5th is not.The numbering of the titles in chapters works very well, but I have problem with numbering of figures and tables.
The numbering of tables and figures should look like this: Table 1.1., 1.2., etc, Figure 1.1., 1.2., etc. The first number is always the chapter number, the second is the number of table/figure in order - within the chapter. I want the second number to re-start in each chapter. But if I select "continue from the previous number" (or something like this - I have Hungarian version, tried to translate to English), the numbering does not re-start with each new chapter, however gets the correct ^H number. If I select "start", all tables and figures will be ^H.1.
My question is: what should I do on one hand to be able to use (and sync) all formats (including tables' and figures' captions with numbers) in the whole book, in the same time making the figures' and tables' numbering having ^H followed by a number re-starts in each chapter? For this, the table and figure number should be which level on the list? What to do with "restart numbering at this level after" option?
I have searched the www from A to Z and back but could not find the answer. Please, help me! Oh, and please, write the how-to description step-by-step (maybe illustrated?), as I use Hungarian version, which makes applying the suggestions a bit difficult. Thank you, in advance, for your kind help!

    Awaiting regards,
I would not recommend touching the standard tables at all unless you are being guided by the SR. For a record to be in the standard table it should go through series of validations based on the what operation you are performing and some times datas are dependent upon the other tables, and also some times the same records are hit to so many other tables simultaneously.
Therefore I would not recommend this brother.

  • Update ztable from database table directly

    hi all,
can u tell me the possible ways to update a ztable from database table directly.
i mean is there anyway to update ztable whenever entry is created in database table .
i dont want to update using insert, modify statements.
points will be rewarded to all hlpful answers.

    A slightly dirty solution:
Use SAP functions for reading from CDHEADER and CDPOS tables [with enough filters such that you extract minimum records possible] to read changes to MARA table fields since last run of your program. Use this information to update your ZTABLE. I would recommend having a table maintainance generator on ZTABLE. The actual update should be by a BDC by calling transaction SM30 for ZTABLE maintainance. Now the program may be set up as a batch job running 1ce an hour. You get updates to the extent of 1 hour latency.
Alternatively, you may look if an opportunistic BADI / user Exit is there alongside MM01/02 transactions - assuming the latter are the only ones updating MARA. In this BADI you may write the code to update ZTABLE- again, look to do it by BDC call transaction sm30 to maintain ZTable. To lighten up the code -load on BADI you may simply raise a custom event and move on. You will configure a job that runs your program when that particular event is raised. This will need the 'burden' of figuring out the changes, though.
An elegant way would be to fire a MATMAS fIDOC for every change to Material, capture that and turn back the changes to ZTABLE. This will facilitate the delta load.

  • I want to convert a series of names into a table (in either numbers or pages). The list I have has a name and then an email address in brackets, followed by a 'yes' or a 'no'. I would like to separate the list into three columns

I want to convert a series of names into a table (in either numbers or pages). The list I have has a name and then an email address in brackets, followed by a 'yes' or a 'no'. I would like to separate the list into three columns - the first containing the name, the second containing the email address and the third containing the 'yes' or 'no'.
    Can you help me ?

The question that needs to be answered is what is separating the columns? Is it a single tab, one or more tabs, spaces, or what?  Or is it the brackets that makes the separation between the three pieces of data?
If it is always a single tab, that makes it really easy.  All you have to do is find/replace the brackets with nothing (as Wayne said)
If it might be multiple tabs, you can find/replace tab-tab with a single tab and repeat that a few times until no more double-tabs are found.
If it is one or multiple spaces, that might be difficult. I'll think about this one if this is what you have. I'll ignore this possiblility for now.
If it is the brackets separating the three pieces of data, you would Find/Replace the left bracket with a tab then do the same with the right bracket.

  • Can i go directly from numbers 08 to numbers 09 rev 2.1

I need to know whether I can update Numbers from Numbers 08 directly to Numbers 09 rev 2.1 or if there's an intermediate update I need to do. I once "killed" a Mac, not knowing I needed to update in several steps! So I'm very nervous about this... Thank you!

Going from Numbers 1 in iWork '08 to Numbers 2 requires a new purchase. You can purchase the individual iWork apps from the Mac App Store or the retail box version of iWork '09 from various online retailers, including Apple. Once installed, you will need to make sure the apps have been updated. The retail box versions are most likely an update or two behind, but you do only have to apply the latest to get up-to-date.

  • Modifying SAP Tables directly

    Hi Friends,
As per SAP, no one should update SAP standard tables diectly. I mean direct modification of data in standard table is not a good practice. But my query is, whether it is been mentioned in any Notes or Best Practice? <removed_by_moderator>

It's not mentioned in precisely the terms you specify in any SAP official note or good practice document I've ever seen.  But then also there's no note that says that if you delete all your backup tapes and then reformat your harddrives, SAP won't help you recover your data.
I like note 415983 about using unreleased function modules potentially leading to a violation of license agreement.
The problem you described is caused by the fact that unreleased function modules were used for a customer development or modification. This is a violation of the software agreements with SAP.
    The consequences are as follows:
o   If malfunctions occur after changes have been made to unreleased function modules or if unreleased function modules were used, you are not entitled to any support nor does SAP provide support in these cases.
o   In case of violations, SAP reserves the right to dun the violation of the terms of use and to make a claim for compensation.
There's nothing quite as explicit that I've found about updating tables directly.  (Though given the above, I'd be surprised if something similar wasn't found in the licensing legalese)  The nearest is note 890379, where it's clear you won't get support for errors caused by "the use of User Exits, Z-Transactions and Modifications to or Custom Developments created in addition to, the Standard SAP code".
So, there's nothing to stop you updating BSEG directly if you want, possibly even it doesn't violate your license.  But it will be a custom development that does it, and if it goes horribly wrong, then according to note 890379 you're stuffed.  Whether it is bad programming practice or not is utterly irrelevant.  Direct changes are carried out at your own risk.

  • Referencing tables in another Numbers '09 file

Is there a way to reference table in another Numbers file. For example using the VLOOKUP formula to bring data from another Numbers file into my current table. I was wondering if you have to have that table in the same Numbers file. My Tables are in the thousands and and have 3 alphabets of columns and it would be difficult to fit 2 of those onto my screen in the same Numbers file.

Not from another file, only from within the same document. Numbers does not support external links to other spreadsheet files.

  • Handling tables with large numbers of fields

    Hi
What is the best practice to deal with tables having large numbers of fields? Ideally, I would like to create folders under a Presentation Table and group fields into folders (and leave fields that may be needed rarely in a folder named 'Other Information').
Is there a way to do this in Oracle BI? Any alternatives?
    Thanks

    Answering my own question:
    http://oraclebizint.wordpress.com/2008/01/31/oracle-bi-ee-10133-nesting-folders-in-presentation-layer-and-answers/
This is definitely a working solution (creating multiple tables and entering '->' in their description in order for them to act as subfolders). Definitely not intuitive and extremely ugly, especially since reordering tables and columns isn't possible (or is it? in another non-obvious way? )
Anyway it seems we have to live with this.

  • Dumping data into tables directly

    Hi there,
Is it possible to just dump data into tables directly (matching file structures)?
Or do we need to use GUI_UPLOAD and then insert them via ABAP statements?
    Thanks,
    Muji

    Hi,
    what is ur requirement exactly.
There are ways to upload data into database table.
u can use XI to uplaod data to SAP.
if it is user data creation, u can create a maintenance dialog and create data thru SE30.
But if u want to insert volumes of data and need them to be validated as well, u post them thru transactions. this is bDC.
If u want to upload master data, u use LSMW or direct input.
If u want to just do direct insert u need to do coding and map the data and insert intot he database,
but for all these u need abap coding which involves uploading and downloading.

  • Table and Figure numbering

Is it possible in a single file document to have section related numbering for Tag=bles and FIgures?
I need to number a document with label such as the following:

The section numbering function appears to only work for multifile books

  • Access table directly from database in BO 4.0 WebI Report without using Universe

Can i use the table avilable in database directly to make BO 4.0 WebI Report without create any universe.
    I realy appeiciate your help.
    Thank you in advance.

You need to create a universe for Relational SQL databases. Universe is a must. The reason you create universe is for the end users. WebI is designed for end users to create their own reports. It is a self service reporting tool. In order to do that, you need universe which allows users to query database using SQL without knowing SQL language.
If you don't want to create a universe for reporting then you can use Crystal Reports instead of WebI
