Table header wrap text?

Hi,
Is it possible to wrap the text of a table heading? I have found this question in many places always with a negative answer. Althought they are old posts and in main thread of this forum [POLL: Web Dynpro UI elements - enhancement proposals; in the first response Armin says that header text wrapping is now supported. Anyone knows how? I am working with NW7.0
Thanks,
Gabriel.

Hi Gabriel,
The header text wrapping is now supported in the SAP CE 7.1 and SAP NW 7.0 EHP 1.
This a table column property.
For documentation on NW 7.0 EHP 1 please refer the following link:

  • In SSRS , after exporting report in excel,wrap text property for cell and freeze column for SSRS table header not working in Excel

    I am working no one SSRS my table headers are freeze cangrow property is false and my report is working perfect while rendering data on RDL and i want same report after exporting in Excel also , i want my table header to be freeze and wrap text property
    to work after exporting in my report in excel but its not working ,is there any solution ? any patch ? any other XML code for different rendering ?

    Hi Amol,
    According to your description, you find the wrap text property and fix column is not working after exporting into Excel. Right?
    In Reporting Services, when exporting to excel file, it has limitation for textbox.
    Text boxes are rendered within one Excel cell. Font size, font face, decoration, and font style are the only formatting that is supported on individual text within an Excel cell.
    Excel adds a default padding of approximately 3.75 points to the left and right sides of cells. If a text box’s padding settings are less than 3.75 points and is just barely wide enough to accommodate the text, the text may wrap in Excel.
    In this scenario, it supposed to be wrap text unless you merge cells. If cells are merged, word-wrap does not work correctly. If any merged cells exist on a row where a text box is rendered with the
    AutoSize property, autosize will not work. For the Fix Data Property, it can't be working in Excel. These are features when exporting to Excel. We can't change it because it's by design.

  • How to wrap text around a table

    I'm new to Pages. The first thing I tried to do was play with tables, because they are the biggest headache in Microsoft Word. However, I ran into a problem right away--I cannot figure out how to wrap text tightly around a table so that the table is surrounded by text on all four sides.
    Does anyone know how to do this? Seems very basic. There is even a button that shows what I want (Text Wrap drop-down --> Around), but when I click on it, nothing happens.

    Peter,
    I can recreate the appearance with five hard returns after the first paragraph, or instead, changing the After Paragraph spacing to 116 pt. Did this with Baskerville Regular 12 pt with line spacing set at 1. Same Arrange settings as shown by OP.

  • How can I force text in a table to wrap at the margin? Chinese characters result in wide tables.

    Hello all ye RoboHelpers out there.
    Background:
    We're using RH 9 (latest patch) on Windows 7 machine.
    We document in English and then the RH project gets localized into many diff languages and we use that to generate CHM, and Printed outputs.
    The Problem:
    In the Chinese language, in printed output, the right border of most tables exeeds well beyond the margin.
    Here's what the localized table looks like in the RH editor:
    By comparison, here's the equivalent English topic prior to localization:
    Our CHM output is fine. In fact, here's what the Chinese looks like in when output to a browser or previewed and I drag the right side to
    a narrower width. Notice that the table text appropriately wraps to remain within the window's size:
    But here's what it looks like when I generate it in Word's printed output:
    Notice the location of the margin at 6.5 inches. It should be wrapping at the margin. And something is weird with the left cell how it's getting pushed so far to the right.
    The actual table width ends up around 11 inches! I had some tables last time I did this that were as far out as 18 inches but looked perfectly fine in English!
    We use Across Systems for our localization tool, and I've verified that our translators are not messing with the table properties at all; only the text is exposed. One interesting difference I've noticed from other languages, is that Chinese characters do not contain a true space or period characters when we get them back from localization. This makes sentences essentially a really long string of unbroken characters, and I suspect this somehow pushes the generated tables to wide extremes in printed output.
    What I've Tried:
    I've tried to change the table properties in Word to auto fit the size of the window.
    I've tried setting the width in RH to a specific size and regenerating. Still doesn't help.
    I've added in space character and doing that does cause lines to wrap in some cases, but not in all. But I shouldn't have to do this.
    I've tried to create a VBA macro in Word to size the tables, but couldn't get it to work.
    What I need:
    I need to somehow globally force all the tables' text strings to wrap once they reaches the right margin no mater what, even if the line does not contain space characters. Is there a setting I'm missing somewhere, either on the RH side or the Word side that can do this for these long strings of characters?
    I really hope someone else has figured out how to deal with this because last time I did this, I had to go through approximately 500 tables and manually do a very convoluted workaround dragging the table handle in Print layout mode back to the right margin to get the table to wrap appropriately. It was a major pain in neck!
    Many thanks in a advance for any ideas you might have.

    I wonder the Format Tables macros on my site could be adapted?
    http://www.grainge.org/pages/authoring/word/word_macros.htm
    If not, I have used Macro Express to format tables in Rh. No reason it could not be used in Word.

  • Itallic Text in Table header

    Hello All,
    We are using the TableView Control in one of our aplications to display search results.When we built this particular application we were on EP6 SP2 PL 29.
    Some how in that version teh header text in the tabledataview control was displaying italic text.
    We used the following piece of code do this.
    bean.setSearchHeader("Search Result(s) For: <i>"+ bean.getSearchString()+ " </i>("+ mySearch.getTrueResults()+ ")");"
    This would display the keyword we searched for in Italic.
    Now we have migrated from EP6 SP2 to EP6 SP16.
    The correct portal version is:
    J2EE Engine 6.40 PatchLevel 102141.313
    Portal 6.0.16.0.0
    KnowledgeManagementCollaboration 6.0.16.3.0 (NW04 SPS16 Patch3)
    Now in this particular version when we search for any keywords.
    The results are displayed but the header data does not show the keyword in Italics, however it displayes the "<i>" tag.
    Let me know whether we can display italic text in table Header.
    Thanks and Regards

    Hi,
    to customize the header of the TableView change the header renderer.
    1. implement IHeaderRenderer interface:
    public class HeaderRenderer implements IHeaderRenderer {
    public void renderHeader(TableView tableView, IPageContext pcontext) {
      TextView tv = new TextView();
      tv.setEncode(false);
      tv.setText("<i>italic header text</i>");
      tv.render(pcontext);
    public boolean willRenderHeader(TableView tableView, IPageContext pcontext) {
      //allways render
      return true;
    2. set the header renderer class to your TableView object:
    tableView.setHeaderRenderer(new HeaderRenderer());
    this should show the text in the table header in italics.

  • Is it possible to wrap text in cells of a Table indicator?

    I have read the contents of an Excel file into a Table indicator and would like to wrap text within certain cells.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    You can do this - sort of...
    LV will not auto wrap the contents of a cell automatically. However, if there are hard line breaks, you can make LV expand the cell vertically to show all the lines. It will not however, autoutomatically size the cell width.
    Sounds like this might be a good project for an XControl.

  • Table for PO-header node text

    Hi all,
    In which table the po-header node text will gets saved.
    Thanks in advance.
    Thanks,
    Asmitha.

    Hi
    No where you will find the entire Long text of this type
    All texts will be stored with the Paramters like OBJECT,ID,NAME,LANG in STXH tables
    You have to use READ_TEXT fun module to fetch this text by passing the above 4 parameters.
    Double click on the text, from the Menu GOTO-> Header
    will see the above 4 paramters
    pass them to fetch this text
    READ_TEXT
    READ_TEXT provides a text for the application program in the specified work areas.
    The function module reads the desired text from the text file, the text memory, or the archive. You must fully specify the text using OBJECT, NAME, ID, and LANGUAGE. An internal work area can hold only one text; therefore, generic specifications are not allowed with these options.
    After successful reading, the system places header information and text lines into the work areas specified with HEADER and LINES.
    If a reference text is used, SAPscript automatically processes the reference chain and provides the text lines found in the text at the end of the chain. If an error occurs, the system leaves the function module and triggers the exception REFERENCE_CHECK.
    Function call:
    CALL FUNCTION 'READ_TEXT'
    EXPORTING CLIENT = SY-MANDT
    OBJECT = ?...
    NAME = ?...
    ID = ?...
    LANGUAGE = ?...
    ARCHIVE_HANDLE = 0
    IMPORTING HEADER =
    TABLES LINES = ?...
    EXCEPTIONS ID =
    LANGUAGE =
    NAME =
    NOT_FOUND =
    OBJECT =
    REFERENCE_CHECK =
    WRONG_ACCESS_TO_ARCHIVE =
    Export parameters:
    CLIENT
    Specify the client under which the text is stored. If you omit this parameter, the system uses the current client as default.
    Reference field: SY-MANDT
    Default value: SY-MANDT
    OBJECT
    Enter the name of the text object to which the text is allocated. Table TTXOB contains the valid objects.
    Reference field: THEAD-TDOBJECT
    NAME
    Enter the name of the text module. The name may be up to 70 characters long. Its internal structure depends on the text object used.
    Reference field: THEAD-TDNAME
    ID
    Enter the text ID of the text module. Table TTXID contains the valid text IDs, depending on the text object.
    Reference field: THEAD-TDID
    LANGUAGE
    Enter the language key of the text module. The system accepts only languages that are defined in table T002.
    Reference field: THEAD-TDSPRAS
    ARCHIVE_HANDLE
    If you want to read the text from the archive, you must enter a handle here. The system uses it to access the archive. You can create the handle using the function module ACHIVE_OPEN_FOR_READ.
    The value '0' indicates that you do not want to read the text from the archive.
    Reference field: SY-TABIX
    Default value: 0
    Import parameters:
    HEADER
    If the system finds the desired text, it returns the text header in this parameter.
    Structure: THEAD
    Table parameters:
    LINES
    The table contains all text lines that belong to the text read.
    Structure: TLINE
    Exceptions:
    ID
    The text ID specified in the parameter ID does not exist in table TTXID. It must be defined there together with the object of the text module.
    LANGUAGE
    The parameter LANGUAGE contains a language key that does not exist in table T002.
    NAME
    The parameter NAME contains the name of a text module that does not correspond to the SAPscript conventions.
    Possible errors:
    The field contains only blanks.
    The field contains the invalid characters ‘*’ or ‘,’.
    OBJECT
    The parameter OBJECT contains the name of a text object that does not exist in table TTXOB.
    NOT_FOUND
    The system did not find the specified text module.
    REFERENCE_CHECK
    The text module to be read has no text lines of its own but refers to the lines of another text module. This reference chain can include several levels. For the current text, the chain is interrupted, that is, one of the text modules referred to in the chain no longer exists.
    WRONG_ACCESS_ TO_ARCHIVE
    The exception WRONG_ACCESS_TO_ARCHIVE is triggered if an archive is accessed using an incorrect or non-existing archive handle or an incorrect mode (that is, read if the archive is open for writing or vice versa).

  • Wrapping text - accordion header

    I'm new at this and I need to be able to wrap text in
    something like (okay... just like) an accordion. That is to say I
    have a fixed width to deal with and will be dynamically generating
    the 'label'. I have read that the label merely sets the text of the
    button that is the header but my question is this: is there an
    override for this button (can something other than a button,
    something that supports word wrap, be the header?) or is there a
    clever trick using a particular child of the accordion that will
    allow me to set text that will wrap? Seems like I can't be the only
    one to have run into this before.... any help is greatly
    appreciated. Thanks.
    ~colo_fish.

    hmm understand the problem , think the normal behaviour fits
    in most cases (also the complete label is displayed when mouse is
    moved above the accodian button).
    If you like to try a workaround I would suggest to overwrite
    the mx.containers.accordionClasses.AccordionHeader and create a
    your own button class, who handle the wrapping/resizing when label
    exceeds the current width. But this might not be very easy, cause
    you have to take care about font sizes etc.
    best regards,

  • Best way to wrap text in UI5 table

    I have some very long texts needs to be wrapped in a UI5 table cell. If I do not do anything, then only part of the string is showing up. Is there a way, that I can wrap text in table cell, like the wrapping in Excel?
    I added the column with below javascript:
    oTable.addColumn(new sap.ui.table.Column({
      label : new sap.ui.commons.Label({
      text : "Type"
      template : new sap.ui.commons.TextField({editable:false}).bindProperty("value",
      "Type"),
      sortProperty : "Type",
      width : "10px"
    Thank you.

    I can't tell whether your question is about text alignment, or difficulties aligning objects (with the Align panel). Do you have an example?
    Text alignment (e.g., in a paragraph) is something you can adjust in the Properties Inspector—but that may not be what you're referring to.
    The Align panel is used to align objects (including text objects) with each other. It can be awkward to use sometimes, because it works by extremes and averages. For instance, if you choose the left align option, it aligns all the selected objects to the position of the left-most object. Similarly, if you choose the top align object, it aligns the selected objects to the position of the top-most object. However, if you choose to center align, then it aligns the selected objects to the mean position. (It's different from Illustrator's Align panel, which allows you to select a "key object".)
    A good alternative to the Align panel might be to use Rulers and Guides. If you turn on your Rulers (View > Rulers), you can click and drag from the ruler to the canvas, to add a guide to the canvas and align it to an object. Then you can choose View > Guides > Snap to Guides to make it easier to align other objects to that guide. Text objects are tricky though, because the text box will snap to the guide, and not the text itself. Therefore, you may need to use your eyes to align the objects properly. (The keyboard arrow keys can help you adjust an object's position in small, single-pixel increments.)
    For more info on the Align panel and some alternatives, check out this forum response:

    Hi Frank,
    Following is the jsp code that i am using but not able to wrap the text in column:
    <af:table id="logTable"
    value="#{abc.listWorkBenchLog}"
    var="log"
    bandingInterval="1"
    banding="row"
    rows="5"
    inlineStyle="border: 1px solid Silver ;width:700px;height:100px;overflow:scroll;" >

    <af:outputText value="Description"/>
    </f:facet>
    <af:outputText value="#{log.strDesc}" />
    </af:column>
    </af:table>
    I tried removing noWrap however it places a horizontal scroll bar (which i dont want and hence implementing this wrap text functionality) in the table.
    please help,

    But the output is coming as Wrap text, is there a way to get the output directly without wrap ?
    Thanks

    Hi Dev,
    You can try below ways
    1>change the setting in table properties to fit table cell as per contents.
    2>or create a table and inside that create one more inner table and add your fields.
    3>or Create .XLS layout it will come properly.

  • Webforms - Wrap Text/Word Wrap for Column Headings

    I have some member aliases that are set as my webform's column headings, but they are fairly long. Setting the column width to a custom value that fits most of the text in the heading makes the form very wide and ugly to work with. I don't see any option to Wrap Text or use Word Wrap in the column headings. Is there any way to do this?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    I am not aware of any option which allows you to wrap the text, it may be possible customizing the [CSS |http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10530_01/doc/epm.931/html_hp_admin/ch12s03.html] though to be honest I am not even sure about that and even if it was possible it would apply to all apps.

  • How to add the Row count(number of rows in table)  in  the table header?

    Hi,
    I'm having a table. This table is viewed when i click on a search button.
    <b>On the table header it should dynamically display the number of rows in the table, i.e., the row count.</b>
    How to do this? could any one explain me with the detailed procedure to achieve this.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Suresh

    If you want to show a localized text in the table header, you should use the <b>Message Pool</b> to create a (parameterized) message "tableHeaderText" like "There are table entries".
    Next, create a context attribute "tableHeaderText" of type "string" and bind the "text" property of the table header Caption UI element to this attribute.
    Whenever the table data has changed (e.g. at the end of the supply function for the table's data source node), update the header text:
    int numRows = wdContext.node<TableDataSourceNode>().size();
    String text = wdComponentAPI.getTextAccessor().getText
      IMessage<ComponentName>.TABLE_HEADER_TEXT,
      new Object[] { String.valueOf(numRows) }
    wdContext.currentContextElement().setTableHeaderText(text);
    Maybe you want to provide a separate message for the case that there are no entries.
    Alternatively, you can make the attribute calculated and return the header text in the attribute getter.
