Table Heading Rows

How do I get table heading rows to repeat if a table is broken across one or more pages? I'm sure it's something simple, but I have just about driven myself insane trying to figure it out. Help, please!

Molly,
You might be better off asking this question in the Structured FM
section of the forum as this is part is for unstructured FM.
Also, your question might easily be missed when you jump in on an
older topic such as this. Please start a new topic and also include
other relevant information such as your version of FrameMaker
(including point release, e.g. 8.0p277) and the structure of the table
elements that you're using.

  • Nested Tables - Unable to make Table Header row to repeat in subsequent pages

    Hi,
    I am unable to make the header row to repeat in subsequent pages for nested tables.
    Can anyone reply with a sample form to illustrate a similar scenario?
    Thanks,
    Rohit

    Hi All,
    I have selected the the check box Insert Header Row in Subsequent Pages then also the header is not getting flowed in subsequent pages only till 2nd page its getting flowed.
    I have used table wizard to create table and i have made the table subform as flowed then also table header is not repeating in subsequent pages.
    MainForm (Flowed)
    TableSubform1(Flowed)
    Table1
    HeaderRow
    Row1
    TableSubform2(Flowed)
    Table2
    HeaderRow
    Row1
    I selected TableSubform1 and in Pagination tab OverFlow Leader dropdown i selected HeaderRow, the same i did for TableSubform2 also but the table header is not getting repeated in subsequent pages.
    Please help me in solving this problem.

  • Changes to table header row that repeat in several pages

    Hello.
    I have a table that expands over several pages, with a header row that repeats in all of them.
    I want to hide some of the header row's columns by code.
    When I change the header row, it changes only for the first occurence of the header row, and not for other occurences.
    I tried to do somthing like that:
    for (i = 0; i < Table1.nodes.length; i++)
    if (Table1.nodes.item(i).name == "HeaderRow")
    // ..hide the column..
    But it only entered the loop once, and only changed it for the first row.
    I also tried to look at Table1.HeaderRow.instanceManager.count, but again, it has the value of 1, so I can't access
    Table1.HeaderRow<i>
    or somthing like that.
    So how can it be done?
    Best regards,

  • Table heading row does not repeat

    I'm using InDesign CS5, and have a table that splits over two pages. There is one heading row, and I've set it to repeat on each page. But it doesn't repeat. The only thing a little unusual about this table is that some of the heading row cells are rotated and some are not rotated. Has anyone encountered this and found a solution?
    (Yes, it is really a header row.)

    Works fine for me?
    What do you mean you set it to repeat?
    When you highlight the Top Row, call up the context menu (right click or CTRL Click on Mac with one button mouse) select "Convert to Header Row"
    Once it's a header row it automatically repeats when the table breaks.

  • Repeating Table header rows ?

    Tables need one or more header rows that repeat when the
    table breaks across pages.
    Speaking of breaking, do not let rows break across pages
    (unless they are taller than a page). Don't make it an option; just
    never do it.
    Cheers

    Hi Richard,
    I will respond to you below!

    We never break table rows across pages even if it is taller
    than the page; any content that exceeds the available space on a
    page is clipped.

  • Header Rows in Tables

    Hi InDesigners
    I am wondering is there a way of excluding the first row in a header row when it breaks at the end of a page?
    The reason I ask is that in the first row of every table header rows a caption is contained (for example "Table 1.1 Colours of Flowers") but that information does not need to be repeated on the second half of the table but the rows underneath the caption does. An example is shown below
    Table 1.1 Colours of Flowers
    Rose      Violet     Daisy
    Red         Purple     Yellow
    White
    Orange
    ------- new page -----------
    Rose      Violet      Daisy
    Apricot
    Pink

    Hi Sorry for being unclear.
    The image attached probably explains it better. See text in blue.
    If I create a frame to hold the table the text wrap occurs nicely, however the TOC will be mis ordered. I don't know why

  • Nested Tables Repeat Header Row RTF Output Not Working v5.6.2(PDF does)

    All,
    Has anyone used nested tables in heading rows where they are set to repeat nested table header row across page breaks for RTF output ? This seems to work for PDF generation (line breaking enforcement doesn't) but I don't even get RTF Header ROWS indicated in my RTF output document. I have enabled them in my RTF template for the outer table row plus the inner nested table. Is this possible for RTF output or have I not indicated something in my RTF template or grouping clause ??
    Thanks,

  • Making header row of table static on scrooling

    Hi,
    I want , when i scrool down or scrool up the table header row must stay unscrooled.
    How can i do that?
    Thanks.

    Hi Armin,
    I recommend not to use all these crappy workarounds.
    Unfortunately,  we, the developers,  can not ask the customers to upgrade for achieving this type of small requirements.
    Even we can not say "It is not possible in this version". That is the reason we are looking for workarounds.
    It is a very common requirement from the customers that is why SAP also have given this functionality in CE 7.1.
    Since it is not a product development , we don't have such a freedom.
    I did not expect such an answer from respectable  moderators like you.

  • Multiple header rows for one table?

    Using html it's possible to set up multiple table header rows for one table but with APEX Reports I don't see how to implement this. Any ideas?
    I want to use the second header row to provide links to data for the column only (not a row). But I still want sortable columns so I want to maintain the default column header behavior too.
    Thanks,
    Linda

    Mike,
    I tried that and found that indeed the substitution string is working and shows in both debug regions I set up on each page I tested.
    I have tried this on two kinds of pages. It works correctly on standard pages with PPR report regions.
    It is not working correctly on a page based on Carl's tabbed regions with PPR reports. One click and the header disappears. This is the version I really want to get working.
    I'd like to post something but have asked twice for a space on apex.oracle.com and have yet to receive even an email acknowledging my request.
    Perhaps you can help me get a space?
    My new problem on the tabbed page where my multiple headers are working is that when I click on a link in the header, it loads that page below the tab. But if I now click on the tab again, rather than return to the original tab page, I get error "ERR-1777: Page 4042 provided no page to branch to. Please report this error to your application administrator. " This happens on both the tabbed regions pages and on the standard tabbed pages. I guess I need to provide a differently formatted url? It is currently like this -
    -----------------------"<th id="opt-details1" [a href="f?p=&APP_ID.:3001:&APP_SESSION.:::::"] View Details</a></th>" --------------[not really square brackets but I didn't know how to make this show in the forum with proper <> brackets ----------------------
    Thanks again,
    Linda
    ---sorry for the lack of white space. It seems to happen when I post on forums on Sunday nights - all white space is removed.

  • Header rows

    Is there a way I can save table header row content as part of a table tag?
    Or is there some other way I can save a blank table (but which includes the header row content) for reuse on various multiple pages throughout a document?

    This problem is one of the main reasons I wrote Auto-Text. You can define a table (with formatting, header/footer rows, canned text, etc.) as an Auto-Text item, and then just paste it in with a single menu choice or keyboard shortcut. I use the keyboard shortcuts myself.
    The sample Auto-Text document has a table defined if you want to see how it works.
    It might be a good solution for you, especially if you have several predefined table formats. (I have 5 in the document sets I manage)
    Find Auto-Text at:

  • How to add the Row count(number of rows in table)  in  the table header?

    Hi,
    I'm having a table. This table is viewed when i click on a search button.
    <b>On the table header it should dynamically display the number of rows in the table, i.e., the row count.</b>
    How to do this? could any one explain me with the detailed procedure to achieve this.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Suresh

    If you want to show a localized text in the table header, you should use the <b>Message Pool</b> to create a (parameterized) message "tableHeaderText" like "There are table entries".
    Next, create a context attribute "tableHeaderText" of type "string" and bind the "text" property of the table header Caption UI element to this attribute.
    Whenever the table data has changed (e.g. at the end of the supply function for the table's data source node), update the header text:
    int numRows = wdContext.node<TableDataSourceNode>().size();
    String text = wdComponentAPI.getTextAccessor().getText
      IMessage<ComponentName>.TABLE_HEADER_TEXT,
      new Object[] { String.valueOf(numRows) }
    wdContext.currentContextElement().setTableHeaderText(text);
    Maybe you want to provide a separate message for the case that there are no entries.
    Alternatively, you can make the attribute calculated and return the header text in the attribute getter.
