Table look up and derivation rule in COPA

Hi,
What is the difference between table look up and derivation rule in COPA. How do we inter rellate them in customizing.
Please clarify.
Thanks and Regards,

Method which is used in the derivation step.
You can choose from the following derivation types:
Derivation rule :
Derivation rules are "if-then" rules, in which you specify which combination's of characteristic values will yield which target characteristic values.
Table look-up :
Table look-ups let you determine characteristic values by having the system read them from any table. The source fields must correspond to the key of the table where you want the system to find the target value.

  • Derivation rule in COPA from BSEG

    Hi experts,
My issue is to derivate a field (SEGMENT) from Table BSEG in COPA.
Unfortunatly my customer donu2019t use the standard customizing from the SEGMENT derivation rule, we donu2019t populate the field SEGMENT in the profit center master data.
Firstly, with a user exit (U903 - ZRGGBS000) which is trigger with substitution rule we populated the field SEGMENT in BSEG.
Now I created a new characteristic WWSEG and I canu2019t derive it in KEDR with table look up, can I have your advices please?
With an abaper, we tried to find a solution with the COPA0005 exit but he donu2019t find the logic to map the source  field BSEG-SEGMENT and the target field COPA-WWSEG
    Thanks
    Kinds regards
    Cédric

    Hi Waman,
Thanks a lot for all and thanks to Dave.
    But it doesn't work.
The segment in bseg-segment is filled when posting a FI document.
For reminder, the field BSEG-SEGMENT is firstly filled with a user exit.
We implemented the note 1135567, we created the program ZRFI_OSS_KEAK_SEGMENT adapting the code to our characteristic WWSEG, when we tested, in debug we drop in the Abap code but the structure COBL-SEGMENT is not filled, therefore the WWSEG is not filled.
Have you other idea to solve my issue ?
    Best regards

  • LSMW for creating Derivation Rules in COPA

    Hi Experts,
Is it possible to create a LSMW for COPA - Derivation Rules. When I am trying to select Default All tab to update the field name, the system is not permitting me to default the filed names.
    Phani

    Hi Phani ,
I think your concern is about updating dervation rule values not derivation rule .
You can cut paste 20 rule values at a time .. so use cut paste .. from excel.. Updating 1000 values will not take more than 20 mins ..
I have never used LSMW for Derivation rule values.. as from excel you can easily cut paste and do it within 30 mins.

  • FMDERIVE and derivation rule

I made in FMDERIVE the following derivation rule:
if account number is a certain account number
the get a certain value for grant_nbr, profit_center and wbs_element.
In test (with trace active) the system gives the expected result.
However when doing a real FI transaction only grant_nbr is filled.
The other two elements are left empty.
SAP support tells me that this is normal because FMDERIVE is only for FM fields.
But why are those other fields available then?
And why does it work in test mode?
Has anyone an alternative in mind?

FMDERIVE can be used only for Funds Mgt related fields
For Profit Center/WBSE you might want to try substitution rules.
For WBSE - you can use CO Substitutions and for Profit Center you can use PCA substitution
But you need to also see if your WBSE also has a profit center, in which case the system will pick up the Profit Center from the account assignment object.
assign points if you found this usefull.
    Thanks

  • Derivation Rule: COPA

    Hello Everyone,
Could you please tell me how to write derivation rule in COPA.  I would appreciation if you send me any document related to it.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi
I am working on SAP-ISU project. Our system is very old and we need to maintain it upt 2011. I found a Note 734718 for schedule records and implemented it.
I have searched for the programs which uses '31.12.2009' as end date. I found two programs RKEVKED0, LSSQ0V28.  These are called dynamically. When I see the program I found that type-pools for KEDR is used. Also in the code dynamic table declaration is used.
I looked at KEDR transaction and nothing understood about it.
Can you please tell me how these programs are generated and why 31.12.2009 is used as end date.
    Thanks in advance

  • COPA derivation rule for GL fields

we are using Transaction type (BSEG_BEWAR) to store additional information for our Sales reporting. During the GL entry this field is update. I have created Derivation rule in COPA using table look up. The table I am using is BSEG. I have characteristics defined for Transaction type- WWTTY.
when the table lookup is populated I get following fields in source as target :
    BSEG  -
    > BUKRS                                COPA  --> BUKRS
    BSEG  -
    > BELNR                               COPA -
    > BELNR
    BSEG -
    > GJAHR                              COPA  ---> GJAHR
    BSEG  -
    > BUZEI                               COPA  -
    > WWDOC ( This is custom defined in COPA)
    Assignment of Target Fields:
    BSEG ---> BEWAR                                COPA -
    WWDOC
Still I am in seeing COPA getting updated with Transaction type value.
Need input to solve this issue.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Ajay,
Thank you so much for your reply. Please note that the GL is a cost element but the category in system is 1 and not 12.However I would like understand as to why is this happening.why does the system picks up derviation rule for a Gross sales GL and not for Discount GL(Cost element).
The distribution channel  gets updated for sales GL when i check the prof segment of the line item, however this is not the case with doscount GL.
I would like to understnad the implication before changing cost element category from 1 to 12 as it runs across system.
    Kindly provide some more explaination.
    thanks in advance.

  • COPA-Offset Derivation Rules

    Hi
Pls let me know how to create offset derivation rules in COPA
    Thanks

    Hi Deepthi ,
The best way to find out is to check the characteristics in both the release orders seperately ..
Go to Transaction KE21S   ( Select Record Type F , Point of Valuation 1) and simulate the characteristics derivation for both the orders seperately ..
. For simulation .. enetr parameters like order no , company code , plant .. etc and click on derivation .. System will derive the sales mode .. for both the orders . You will be able to find out the differences in characteristics .. which is causing the issue ..
Instead of KE21S .. you can also use transaction KEDR . In KEDR screen , enter (F8) or click on test icon and simulate the characteristics derivation..
Hope this will solve your issue .. Please revert back for any further clarifications..

  • Derivation Rules in FICO

    Hi all,
I am new to FICO and i need to work on the Derivation Rules Txn KEDR in FI/CO.
That is i need to know the
    1. Purpose
    2. Example
    3. Then walk through the process.
Actually i dont know anything about the Derivation Rules as well as KEDR.  And i dont know what is the link between the KEDR and Derivation Rules.
Can anyone guide me on this. It will be a great help if anyone help me out in this.
    Thanks in advance.......

    Hi,
Derivation strategy determines the way to derive the values. Derivation rule will actually make you derive the values based on given parameters.
As I said earlier, say for example Business needs to analyse COPA values on Department wise. Now department field say not captured in any other means, then to derive the value of department and post in copa, u use KEDR.
In KEDR u specify the source fields which in turn act as the parameter comibnation throght which target field Department is to be populated.

  • Derivation rule - Table look up

    Hi All,
Can u explain about the Table look up, Move and Clear options in derivation rule. What type of Fields can be looked up, Moved and cleared to what characters? Can u advise me for detailed study.
    Regards

    Hi,
Derivation of characteristics happen if the existing characteristics does not support your requirements.  Such derivations are based upon other characteristics.
There are different ways to derive characteristics.  Such ways are -
    1. <b>Table look up</b> : Here the characteristics are dereived based on reading a table.
Constraint: The source field should be the key field in the table
<b>Example</b>: U want to have a characteristics Division based out of Material Master.
Source field : Product Number (Key field of MARA)
So based on the pdt number, the material master table is read and the division is identified.  If the record is found, the division is fetched and used
<b>2. Move</b>: Copies the constant from the source char to the target char
<b>Example</b>: If sold to party and ship to party are same.
    source: Sold to party
Requirement: U want to determine the char Ship to party
So whatever data in soldtoparty is moved to ship to party for derievng its char
<b>3 Clear</b>: deletes the value of charac and move back to its initial value
<b>Example</b>:  if based on certain condition, the value of char should be initialized\
If Product number=124, then CLEAR employee no char.

  • COPA Derivation Rules are not assigning the correct values

COPA Derivation Rules are not assigning the correct values when we process billing documents in batch.  We currently have derivation rules defined to take the ship to country and refer to custom tables were we identify custom geographic groups (INT/DOM and EAM, AP, etc.).  The derivation rules work accurately when the billing documents are created individually, and more than 75% of them are accurate when generated in batch, but in some circumstances, it populates the derived values with the wrong field and we can not identify where or why that's happening.  It looks like it may have something to do when the ship to customer number account group is different, but that's not consistent..  Does anyone know how or where these values get populated, or have any ideas why incorrect values are appearing sporadically throughout the billing run?  Thanks!!!

    Leigh,
Apparently the function module is changing the values for some billing docs. Check one of the following user exits, if it gets triggered and the values are changed:
COPA0001  Enhancement for derivation in Profitability Analysis (CO-PA)
    Function Module: EXIT_SAPLKEDRCOPA_001
COPA0002  Enhancement for valuation in Profitability Analysis (CO-PA)
    Function Module: EXIT_SAPLKEAB_001
COPA0003  Enhancement for assignment to profitability segment (CO-PA)
    Function Module: EXIT_SAPLKEAK_001
COPA0005  Enhancement for actual data update (CO-PA)
    Function Module: EXIT_SAPLKEII_001
    Function Module: EXIT_SAPLKEII_002
Award suitable points if the above helps. You can also reach me at [email protected]

  • Derivation rule to determine customer tax classification in COPA

    Hi Experts,
Please guide me to complete this assignment.
The requirement is to fetch the material tax classification and customer tax classificaion into COPA through derivation rule.
we can fetch material tax classification through table VBRP.
Please help me to derive customer tax classification( KNVI-TAXKD) through derivation.
Customer tax classification data is available in table KNVI.
But when you consider KNVI table through table lookup it is asking customer, country key and tax category. To define this derivation rule we need tax category values in COPA.
We can get customer and country key but not tax category.
How to bring tax category (KNVI-TATYP)
into COPA to define derivation rule to fetch customer tax classification( KNVI-TAXKD).
Please suggest me if any alternative solution to bring customer tax classification data into COPA.
Points will be assigned to usefull answer.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Amar.

    HI,
The Tax related thing are balance sheet items . which can not be considered at CO-PA.
only revenue item will be considered at Co-pa.
    Hope this is clear

  • Copa derivation rule for customer group

    Hi All,
I am currently facing an issue with Derivation rule and hope someone can help me on resolving  this.I have created a COPA derivation rule which has field as
    Source Field
    company code
    Plant
    Target field
    Distribution channel
    Condition
    customer group 3 = 18.
so ideally with this conbination the distribtion channel gets updated
    for the sales order.
However the issue we are facing is that the rule is working for only 1st line item and not for the others. I have also kept setting as" overwrite values only if new values found"
e.g if we see the accounting doc of billing then
    line item 1 customer: x
line item 2 SaLes GL: rule works fine and dist channel is updated.
line item 3 discount GL: rule does not work.
Have checked the derivation rule and it looks correct.
Can you kindly suggest solution to this.

    Hi Ajay,
Thank you so much for your reply. Please note that the GL is a cost element but the category in system is 1 and not 12.However I would like understand as to why is this happening.why does the system picks up derviation rule for a Gross sales GL and not for Discount GL(Cost element).

  • COPA derivation rule :more than 6 target fields

    Hi ,
As per client's requirement I need to include 10 target fields in a COPA derivation rule . Now after entering 6 , I can see rest of the rows are greyed out ; it looks like SAP does not allow more than 6 as target .
I tried to find out if such limitation is mentioned anywhere in SAP documentation but I could not find ; if anyone has any reference doc on that please let me know .
Secondly , how to meet the requirement ? I can break the same into 2 separate derivation , say 6 target & related rule value in the first and in just next step another 4 targets & rule value ; the source remains same in both the step .
OR any COPA user exit / enhancement will help me accommodate all 10 targets in a single step of derivation ? as far as my knowledge goes SAP provided COPA user exits (1 to 5) will not be helpful here .
    Awaiting your help ...
    Regards
    Indranil Sen

    Dear Indranil Sen,
As per my knowledge it is not possible to mention more than 6 source and target fields for a derivation rule.
Because for that program, SAP defines that (1+5) fields for that screen.
That is the reason you are getting the gray color after 6 entries
Yes we can increase that limit but for that we need the access key.
If you have access key authorization, you can increase the limit
    Reasons in detail:
Screen filed what you are looking for is:
    DYNP5400-SRC-NAME-FIELDNAME
There you can enter (1+5) entries only. enhancement for that field is difficult.
So you can opt for  2nd option as you said.
Let see  Mr. Waman Shirwaicar's  views on this issue.
