Table of contents in Reports 6i

Hello, everyone.
Does anyone know how to create table of contents in Oracle Reports 6i?
My output looks like that:
1.0 Introduction -- (printed on page 1)
some data...
1.1 Integration -- (printed on page 3)
some data...
1.1.1 Testing (printed on page 7)
some data....
All of course in indented according to number.
Now, I need to created a table of contents that looks like that:
1.0 Introduction ................................ 1
1.1 Integration ............................. 3
1.1.1 Testing ............................ 7
with indent as well. I can build it manually in the header section, the only thing that I don't know is how to get a page number. I don't know at the runtime, which page it will be for a certain section. The report output is printed as pdf file. Maybe there is a way to send a command to print bookmarks instead?
Please, help.

Hi Lena,
I think it's impossible. Let image following situatian: you send your report to printer... Could you change your first shit after that one had been prited? Unfortunately no. Maybe your should do your contents on the last pages?
If you will do so, you will be able to place page's number in the table of contents.
Sorry.

  • Table of Contents in Reports 9i

    Is it possible to create "Table of Contents" in the header section of a report using Reports 9i? If possible, how to do this?

    If you want only a printed solution, you can actually do this now. The problem is that the "Table of Contents" needs to be formatted after you've formatted the whole report. Basically you need to store the page values as the objects are printed in format triggers using srw.get_page_num() PL/SQL built-in. Then, when the report is completed, you can create the "Table of Contents" from these stored values. So your "Table of Contents" ends up on the last page of your report - which is OK if you're printing it out since you can re-arrange the pages.
    You could get the report to execute once in a before report trigger using srw.run_report(), gather the data in the way described above and then continue the run of the report with this collected data. This would allow you to put the TOC on the first page but may be too expensive.

  • Generating table of contents by chapter number and title in reports

    Hi all,
    how can i generate a table of contents in reports?
    I will definitely need the chapter numbers and their respective titles to do that.
    Are there specific templates to follow in order to do that?
    Thanks.

    Your profile lists 10.6.2 as your OS version. If this is true, it may be the source of problems with Pages. Keeping both the OS and iWork apps updated will avoid some problems.

  • Report Generation Toolkit: Table of Contents in MS Word

    Hello forum users,
    I would like to add a table of contents to a MS Word document, using the Report Generation Toolkit.
    I couldn't find a VI in the toolkit that does that, so I tried to modify the VI "Word Insert Field.vi". Doing so, I could access a property node of the class "Word._Document"  and an invoke node of the class "Word.TablesOfContents" with the method "Add".
    As this modified VI does not belong to the private LabVIEW class "NI_Word.lvclass", it is not possible to unbundle the (type cast) "report in" wire to get the "Word._Document" class reference. I can't add the modified VI to the NI_Word class either, because it is password protected.
    There are so many methods and properties that are not used in the official Report Generation Toolkit, like this one. How can I access them?
    Or maybe there is another way to add a table of contents to a MS Word document (programmatically). Maybe I have to use a template. I rather wouldn't, though.
    Operating System: Windows 7 64bit
    LabVIEW: 2009 [9.0 (32bit)]
    Report Generation Toolkit: 2009
    MS Office: 2003 SP1
    Thank you for reading an answering.

    Hello again,
    in the "Word Specific" > "Word Advanced" Palette of the Report Generation Toolkit, there is a VI called "Word Get ActiveX References" which essentially unbundles the private "report" data stream / wire. Thus, I can use the property and invoke nodes that make use of the "Add TablesOfContents" method.
    I hope, that helps other users as I didn't find too many topics on Report Generation. Maybe it's just too easy...

  • How to build Table of Content in Crystal Reports

    Hi,
    Initially, I am looking for an article about how to build Table of Content in Crystal Reports in table-based approach----including how to write to DB table from report:
    http://support.businessobjects.com/library/kbase/articles/c2011950.asp
    However, the link above is invalid. I also searched through SDN articles, but no luck.
    Can someone please forward me the link if you happend to know?---does not have to link to this specific article, any working solution is just fine.
    I am aware of another approach which put the TOC to the end of the report(http://www.ml-consult.co.uk/cryst-05.htm), which probably does not satisfy the requirement.
    If you have other solutions, your share is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks a ton!

  • Create a an Table of content or an Index page in report in Oracle BI Publisher

    I want to create an Index page for my multi page report in Oracle BI Publisher. Any help would be appreciated.
    I am using MS word 2010 for creating the template (*.rtf file). Please let me know if any more details are required.
    I am creating a rtf template for generating a report in oracle BI Publisher. The report displays the details for all the products used by the customer. Report contains 1 product per page. All the products have same template.
    What I want is to create an Index page, which displays the product name and the page number of the report in which it is generated.
    For eg. Customer Papa Johns uses 10 products. The report generated will contain below details: 1st Page -> Cover Page containing Basic details of customer.
    2nd Page -> Index page containing the product names and the page numbers
    3rd page: Product 1 details
    4th page: Product 2 Details .
    and so on.
    INDEX
    Product Name Page No.
    Anchovies 4
    Apple Topping 5
    Bacon 6
    Barbecue Sauce 7
    Barbecue Sauce2 8
    Chicken Topping 9
    Dough 10
    Please note that the number of product will be variable(may increase or decrease), hence there may be case when the index page takes more that 1 or 2 pages just to print the product names and their respective page numbers.

  • Change formatting of table of contents in Hyperion Financial Reporting

    Hi
    We're using Hyperion Financial Reporting to generate carefully formatted books of reports. Users complain about the default table of contents in these books, specifically:
    --> formatting: the basic text-only, portrait-only, formatting does not fit with the "look and feel" of reports within the books.
    --> placement: the fact that it doesn't seem possible to place anywhere within a book, apart from as the first page (they like a title page to sit at the front of a book of reports).
    --> content: having a limited options for defining the text identifying each item within the table of contents. For example, the same combination of dimension members appear for each item in the table of contents, so the first few items look something like:
    Report1_Label
    Dimension2_Label, Dimension1_Label, Dimension3_Label, Dimension4_Label ....................1
    Report2_Label
    Dimension3_Label, Dimension1_Label, Dimension4_Label, Dimension2_Label ....................2
    I remember reading somewhere that it's possible to define custom table of contents. Has anyone had any experience of hacking this? Where can I find relevant documentation on defining custom table of contents?
    Grateful if anyone has any advice.
    Thanks
    Nathan

    Hi Nathan
    I've never done this before but there is a section in the Financial Reporting Workspace Administrators Guide (chapter 5). However this involves accessing the css style sheets and in my experience this can have unwanted and unexpected effects in other areas. It does appear to be fairly well documented though in this case so perhaps it is more reliable in this instance.
    It does specifically mention HTML format and not PDF format so if you are publishing to PDF it is worth checking the impact on that too. Take a look at the attached for version 11.1.2 but I'm fairly sure this was available in earlier versions too.

  • Table of contents in Crsytal Reports 2008

    Hi,
    I have a requirement to create table of contents showing pagenumbers along with the titles in report.I tried using below formula:
    WhilePrintingRecords;
    StringVar Array catArry;
    NumberVar Array pageArry;
    IF NOT (GroupName({ARTIST.LAST_NM}) IN catArry) THEN (
    Redim Preserve pageArry[UBound(pageArry) + 1];
    pageArry[UBound(pageArry)] := PageNumber;
    Redim Preserve catArry[UBound(catArry) + 1];
    catArry[UBound(catArry)] := GroupName({ARTIST.LAST_NM});
    Here grouping should be done on the name of last name. I have created a group also with that. This formula is added in Report header. But i am getting an error stating "A boolean value is required here" while saving it.
    I also tried the below formula as an alternative approach:
    global stringvar strTOC1;
    global stringvar strTOC2;
    local stringvar strTemp;
    if not InRepeatedGroupHeader then
      ( strTemp := {ARTIST.LAST_NM} + chr(10) ;
      if len(strTemp) + len(strToc1) <= 254 then
        ( strToc1 := StrToc1 + strTemp;
        strToc2 := StrToc2 +
          totext(PageNumber,0) + chr(10) ))
    This also gives the same error.
    Please let me know if the formulas used are incorrect. Please suggest if there are anyother ways to implement this.
    Thanks in advance!

    Satya,
    In Oracle create a Package with both a Package Head and a Body definition - ORACLE help has acouple examples of this
    In the Head you would need to define the REF_CURSOR record you would be using in Crystal. I am copying a simplified version of one of mine here:
    The Head definition --
    create or replace PACKAGE TST_PROFILE_EXTRACT_RENAME AS
    TYPE PROFILE_EXTRACT_REC IS RECORD
    (RC_Profile_num_in               TEST.PRFL_NB%type
    ,Addditional fields are defined here
    ,Addditional fields are defined here
    ,Addditional fields are defined here
    TYPE PROFILE_EXTRACT_Type IS REF CURSOR RETURN PROFILE_EXTRACT_rec;
    PROCEDURE sp_PROFILE_EXTRACT (
    PROFILE_EXTRACT_CURSOR IN OUT PROFILE_EXTRACT_TYPE
    ,IV_PARAMETER_1 IN  PRM_RPT_DFLT.TEST_NUM%TYPE
    ,IV_PARAMETER_2 IN  VARCHAR2);
    END TST_PROFILE_EXTRACT_RENAME;
    Body definition --
    create or replace PACKAGE BODY TST_PROFILE_EXTRACT_RENAME AS
    PROCEDURE sp_PROFILE_EXTRACT (
    PROFILE_EXTRACT_Cursor IN OUT PROFILE_EXTRACT_Type
    ,IV_PARAMETER_1 IN  PRM_RPT_DFLT.TEST_NUM%TYPE
    ,IV_PARAMETER_2 IN  VARCHAR2 ) IS
    --- working variables go here
    LV_FILLER_D6                    CHAR(6);
    LV_FILLER_H9                   CHAR(9);
    LV_FILLER_T14                  CHAR(14);
    BEGIN
    Code to delete out any existing "old" data rows from a previous execution
    COMMIT -- to make sure these do not get picked up in the current execution
    Code goes here -- to do full Select and/or PLSQL goes here including the insert to the "temp" table you have defined in structure to ORACLE.
    After all processing is done and all updates COMMITTED,
    Open the REF_CURSOR to Crystal using a select against your "temp" table as the last piece of code in your SP.
    OPEN PROFILE_EXTRACT_Cursor FOR
    select
    RC_Profile_num_in
    ,Addditional fields are defined here
    FROM "temp" table
    WHERE   - any additional logic you might need (we are using a unique identifier for each report SP in order to allow reuse/multi-threading of our reports)
    ORDER BY .....  as necessary for your critera - we are using a counter to make sure we retrieve the rows in the order they are inserted but this may or may not be necessary depending on your data.
    END sp_PROFILE_EXTRACT;
    END TST_PROFILE_EXTRACT_RENAME;
    Searching the web for ORACLE and Stored Procedures returns a number of examples (some good and some otherwise) but this is the model we are using.
    Let me know if you have any other questions.

  • Financial Reporting - PDF Table of Contents not working

    I am using FR to run scheduled batches each weekend. Some of the books are over 100 pages in length and we have a Table of Contents (TOC) with each book created. The page numbers within the TOC are correct and correspond to the correct report. However, when clicking on the page number in the TOC, it takes us to the incorrect location. It can be a page or two off or it can be 10 pages off. Has anyone experienced this problem? If so, how did you resolve it?
    We are on 11.1.2.1 in Prod.

    Try with latest patch # 14406630 for 11.1.2.1 as it fixes page number issues.

  • Financial Reporting Books Table of Content

    Hi,
    i've created a financial reporting book and i want to/have to insert a title page (pdf file). The table of content is always created in front of this title page. I tried to modify xml statements in the book file but there isn't a setting which defines the order of Table of Content and the other included book files. Does anyone know if there is a command to do that. Or is there somewhere some kind of style sheet where the table of content is defined?
    At least i would like to insert a Logo into the table of contet.
    Thank you for your help
    Best regards
    Tim

    After looking at this a bit more, this may or may not work so we might need to get dirty on this one .....................
    Some clues can be found here : http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bi-publisher/bip-bookbinding-176639.pdf
    Looking at Page 7, it should be obvious that we can add additional deatils to the reports, including cover pages.
    Though, after looking at Page 8, I think I may have you slightly in the wrong direction. toc-template appears to simply cover the commands for the table of contents and there is another template to control everything. But is that file visible to edit?
    If you run FRConfig.cmd, you can find more clues.
    Go to the MBeans tab, expand com.hyperion, then expand Financial Reporting, and Attributes.
    The two attributes that immeidately jump out are TextPrintTemplate and BookTOCPrintTemplate
    - TextPrintTemplate is the FR_TextTemplate.doc file in <<EPM_ORACLE_INSTANCE>>/products/FinancialReporting/bin/ folder
    - BookTOCPrintTemplate is the toc-template.rtf file previously discussed.
    Once again, though, the other template exposed to us is most likely just driving the content and is not at a high enough definition level for this to work how you want it to.
    I would say to use the example in the PDF and try adding that to the table of contents page before it does all of the loops. Perhaps it will work from there, perhaps not.
    If that doesn't work, Thursday we can attempt to drill into this more.
    :)

    How to create a clickable Table of contents using Crystal Reports 8.5. I was able to create the table of contents using subreport and temporary table. but not able to link to the pages.
    how to make it clickable ?
    -Vivek

    Hi Vivek,
    To you may create on demand sub report.
    In main report only the link will be shown when you click on the link the sub report will be opened in a new tab.
    It can be placed in a Group header and to show the data for that particular group only.
    Click on the Help menu in the crystal Reports Designer and open the Crystal Reports Help
    Go to Index tab and type in subreport
    Select Creating On demand you will get lot of information on that.
    Please let us know if that is enough to solve your problem
