Table of Contents links not working after conversion to PDF

I have created links in a MS Word 2007 document, including in a Table of Contents, a List of Tables, as well as internal cross-reference links. I have converted to a pdf file using Acrobat 9 Pro. All the links were retained except for the page links in the Table of Contents. Does anyone have any insight into how to correct this error?

You can get links to work in Numbers documents that have been converted to PDF, but it's quirky.
No links survive Printing to PDF
Links outside of tables (links in text boxes, etc.) survive Export in Sheet View
Links inside and outside tables survive export in Page View

Contents Links not working in ADE 2.0

Hi,
In ADE 2.0, links in the document are going to the wrong page. How can this be fixed?
In the original PDF and on ADE 1.7.2, these table of contents links work correctly. Now, the links go to the page before the correct page.

Yet another bug in ADE2.0/2.0.1. I suggest (as I so often do) reinstalling 1.7.2.

There are lots of bugs in ADE2.0 (and 2.0.1). Try replacing ADE2.0 with the older but more reliable v1.7.2.
(You can have them both installed at once if you like.)
Version 1.7.2, it is a little difficult to find, available on Adobe site for Windows and for Mac.

Some people have found ADE trying to upgrade automatically.
It appears (not 100% sure) that if you install ADE2.0 as a new install (not as an upgrade) that your 1.7.2 will continue to run.
Probably best to say no if 2.0.x installation asks if you want to migrate your library.

Internal Links not working after publishing to iTunes store?

Has anyone else had this problem where seemingly correct Buttons for Internal page links (movement through individual articles)
were not working once uploaded? These links worked on the Content Viewer we were testing our issue on.

Table of contents links that work in Professional don't work in Reader

I use Adobe Acrobat Professional Version 8.2.2 to create PDF
documents from Microsoft Word 2007 files. The main table of contnets, as well as mini-ToCs at

I've just discovered that the links no longer work when the documents are are opened in Reader Version 9.3.2.
Can you suggest a solution?

The topics and page numbers in the table of contents of a document are linked to the referenced headings. The links work when I test them with Acrobat Professional.
In Acrobat reader the links don't work.

Table of contents placeholder not working?

So far, everything is working well. I have my book about ready to go, but I need to customize the table of contents. There is a placeholder on each TOC page that as far as I can tell from the Help files, you can drop an image there. However, I can't seem to get it to work. Dropping anything there simple seems to place it on top of the placeholder, not "in" it. How is this done? or is it meant for something else?

My analysis on the Image Placeholder for the TOC page has resulted in the following conclusions.
You ARE able to include any image on each of the chapter pages in the TOC
In order for a chapter page in the TOC to have its own separate image, you must define one of your images in the Chapter Layout for that chapter to have a tag of "Main Image." If you do not have an image in your Chapter Layout defined as "Main Image," then you cannot drag an image into the Media Placeholder for that Chapter in the TOC.
To define an image with a "Main Image" tag
Select the Chapter Layout
Select an Image
Go to Layout tab in the Inspector
Select "Editable on Pages using this Layouy"
Set the tag to "Main Image"
The corresponding chapter page in the TOC will now have that image in the Media Placeholder
You are NOT limited to having the same image in your TOC that is on the Chapter Layout. You can now change the image in the Media Placeholder on that chapter page in the TOC by dragging an image on to it
Let me know if this works for everyone.

Content Server not working after 5.0.2 upgrade

We upgraded the plumtree to 5.0.2. After upgrade, content server portlets not working properly. When I publish my portlet, Interface says it is published, HTML file generated at the published location, but log says
com.plumtree.search.UnknownTypeException: IndexManager.enqueue() : Could not find PTDocMaker for key PTCONTENT
Portlet displays
Error: No Url is available for this portlet. It may not have been published.
Any Idea ?

Hi Ravi, from the Release Notes for Content Server 5.0.2, there's this note "Publish Dialog does not show any error when search index fails but an error "com.plumtree.search.UnknownTypeException: IndexManager.enqueue() : Could not find PTDocMaker for key PTCONTENTTEMPLATE" is recorded in pcs.log. (Issue #27541) "
So you should make sure that the search server is running (just by doing a banner search). Assuming that's fine (it probably is), the likely culprit is an installation problem. Check the Content Server pcs.log file (located in PT_HOME\ptcs\5.0\settings\logs) for any error messages related to search api initialization. This cryptic error you're observing occurs when the search api initialization fails for some reason, the error is not gracefully caught and surfaced to the user. The pcs.log file may give a clue.

Applet does not work after conversion

A have an html page on with a use an applet. The applet is downloaded in two cab files for the internet explorer.
The applet and the download works fine without the java plugin.
When I convert this page to using the html converter the applet does not work

I recently moved to programming applets and this problem gave me many
headaches. I know that the java compiler is supposed to compile with an
appropriate version, but I suspect that there may be a few flaws in the
system.
Try compiling with a command like this to force a 1.1 compilation:
"javac -target 1.1 yourfile.java"
This enabled my applets to load in Netscape 4.6, something they wouldn't do before.
Installing the java plugin seems to fix the problem on other browsers. This might
be a new bug introduced by Java 1.4, since I had very few problems with
Java 1.3...I dunno...that's speculation...

Table of Contents is not working in Pages 5.0?

I am attempting to find a solution to this TOC issue, in Pages 5.0:
The INSERT>TABLE OF CONTENTS sub-menu is grayed out.
I have formatted with custom styles and am using landscape format.
In the Pages '09 it looks so simple to insert a Table of Content.
Is this an incompatibility issue?

Table of Contents navigation not working

I am using Captivate 6. I have a separate TOC, with only 4 items. 'Self paced Learning' and 'Enable Navigation' are both checked. However, when I publish to SWF, or preview, the navigation does not work.
Due to IT team desktop image restrictions, I can only check this in IE8, using Flash 11.1.102.55.
Any suggestions?

I'm having the same exact problem. I do not have the Navigate Visited Slides only option checked. I want the user to be able to just skip to a section. I've noticed it works to an extent, but easliy gets hung up. So if I click to a section, the project either gets stuck or it continues to play, but audio dissapears.

Hypertext links not working after pdf conversion

I have a document that contains many hyperlinks to external PDF files. Not sure if I created the link correctly to start with, but when I save the book file as a pdf none of the links to the external pdf files work. I entered the location of the files as the marker tex as shown ../Vendor_Data/Show/vendor_manual.pdf not sure if I need anything in the hypertext field. can someone assist. the directory structure is: c:\techpubs\Frame\files.fm the vendor data is c:\techpubsVendor_Data\data.pdf.

What Marker type?

Why is "/Show" in that path?

You are missing a "\" after "techpubs", and the pdf names don't match.
I presume that even when you get that working locally, you are aware that it won't work whenever the calling and called files don't have exactly the same directory-relative relationship. This further means that if consumers of your documents make local copies, they also have to recreate that local directory structure, which typically they won't.
Using fully qualified URLs instead of relative path references is more stable, but of course always forces the reference to use the web.

Links not working after adding script

I added a drop down menu to my website and now none of my hyper links work. Not external or even links to the other pages. Here is the script.

I found that if I change the ('a') to ('b') all the links work except when I try to get back to the home page.

"My Content"-link not working in MySite in 2010 mode

I'm trying out upgrading our Sharepoint 2010 to Sharepoint 2013 but keeping it in Sharepoint 2010 mode (or v14 mode if you will) until we've had a chance to educate our users on the new UI and Everything.
Right now everything works good but there is a small issue in MySite.
When a user accesses MySite in my dev Environment, the get to where they are suppose to land - the "Newsfeed" page with "Stay Connected!". "My Profile" works perfectly. But when they click on "My Content" they are
forwarded to "My Profile" again! If they go to the "Content"-tab in "My Profile" they get their documents just fine so the content is there, the link just isn't forwarding as it's supposed to!
The link in their User Profile is correct. The "/personal/" managed path is set. The "My Site" setup in the User Profile app is done.
The "MySite" app was created as Classic auth with powershell, then imported the content database from Sharepoint 2010 and then it was converted to claims based - but not visually upgraded. Not the individual sites, nor the root site Collection.
And to make it even more confusing, when I did upgrade the root Collection it works fine - they come to the 2013 version of their profile and if they click a document library they end up in the "My Content"-page in the old design. So all the content
is there, it's just the link that isn't forwarding to "my content" but goes to "my profile"!?
Any ideas?

Unfortunately no, I didn't find any technical solution for this. But I found a management solution to it. I went to my boss and said "doing it this way, with visual upgrades of one site collection at a time, will introduce too many unknown elements to the
battlefield. So let's go shock and awe and do a big bang by converting them all, we may have a helluva first days of support calls but it's worth it". She agreed. And we're now on Sharepoint 2013 SP1 with full visual upgrades all over (did the upgrade over
the past weekend actually, really happy they got SP1 out in time!)

Links not working after file download

I have a button in a form that when clicked calls a Servlet that downloads a file. After having sucessfully download the file, no link within the page or in another frame seems to work, it just ignores them.
I think that could be a problem of IE, but does anyone have a solution or a workaround? (I would prefer not to open a new window to download the file)

Acrobat XI Standard "send to mail" option not working after open a pdf file from Mozilla Firefox 35.0.1

I have a strange problem with one user. We use an internal web site where users upload pdf files. Usually other users could open and view the files. What happened since a couple of days. One user uses Acrobat XI Standard to view and edit the files. When he opens the file from Firefox he could edit it/save it and so on but when click on the email button at first the application freeze and after this nothing happens. When he saved the file, opened again and press the email button everything works without any problem. I've already check the settings in the Acrobat about the email client and it is Outlook 2010. Does someone have an idea how to solve it? Thanks in advance

Did you try opening that file in any other browser ?If not ,please try doing that once and see if that works for you.
Try Repairing Acrobat once and see if that helps.
Launch Acrobat>Navigate to Help>Repair Acrobat Installation.
