Tables and layer

I am having an issue when I insert tables. I have a
background image that is centered in the middle of the page. I want
the buttons to be above the image. In the dreamweaver window it
looks like that buttons are in the right stop but then when I
preview it in the web browser the buttons are not in the correct
stop. Would it be better to use layer and tables? Can someone help
me out. thanks

Alias Tables and Duplicate tables in Physical Layer

Hi all,
I have a small doubt in physical layer. We have two options when we right click table, 'Alias' and 'Duplicate'. To create another instance of a table, can we use any one of these. Does it make any difference

Hi,
If u duplicate any table the join conditions will carry with respective tables , same name appending (TableName#1)
In case of alias u need to specify joins conditions explicitly
We can use same table with different constrains to the same table
Aliases used, if you need to replicate a physical table and not create multiple tables with the same data
If you delete any column in the Original table automatically deleted in alias
table and Its not reflected in Duplicate table.
Steps:
Right Click the original table. Choose New Object and choose Alias.
The mistake most people make is try to bring in the same table again and rename it or choose Duplicate by right clicking the original table.

Sometimes Local Address not in ARP table and Ping fails (network problem?)

I see something like this on our network a couple of times a week.
The same replies have been received from different hosts.
ping fails
local subnet machine is not in arp table
ping fails
local subnet machine is not in arp table
traceroute may or maynot succeed
If traceroute succeeds an entry is in the arp table
if traceroute fails no entry will be in the arp table.
A netstat -s, ont the local host, doesn't show any thing strange except that udpNoPorts=10844982 (Unfortunately I don't know what udpNoPorts is)
The remote host IS UP.
Does anyone have an idea as to why this is happening?
Can our 100mb network, which is not that busy, be loosing that many ICMP or ARP messages?
This is a problem because I'm the guy getting paged if a system is down.
Local host is Solaris 7 on same subnet at IP 168.173.8.8
Remote hosts are usually NT boxes.

Your question is not that clear to me...do you want to hide the entire table/column that dont want to show up in the front end then you could do in Presneation Layer in the RPD by going Permissions in the property of that object.
But if you want to hide the column in the report that can be visible in the subject Area: go to column properties -> Column fomat...thereis Hide option.
Can you please elaborate your question...what exactly you are looking for...

Multiple 'logical joins' between a fact table and one dimension table

It appears that one cannot create multiple ‘logical joins’ between a fact table and one dimension table in OBIEE using the Oracle BI Administration Tool. For example, considering a Business Model with a dimension table TIMES and a fact table FACT containing START_TIME and END_TIME, we would like to create separate logical joins from FACT to TIMES for the START_TIMEs and END_TIMEs? Obviously, the underlying foreign keys can be created, but as far as I can tell the Oracle BI Administration Tool doesn’t support this. The workaround would be to replicate the TIMES table, but that’s ugly.
I seek an alternative approach.

Try this. Create an two aliases for the TIMES dimension (Start & End) in the Physical Layer and then remove foreign key to the "Parent" Times dimension. Create the Foreign Key in the Physical Layer to the new aliases and then create the complex joins in the BMM Layer to the new aliases as well. This will allow you to present both dates within the same table in the Presentation Layer. Not the most elegant solution but it works.

Using of already existing logical tables and columns in a new subject area.

i am new to OBIEE technology.
In my project i need to create a new subject area for already existing RPD.
In that RPD there are some logical tables and column created for previous project and i need to use those in this new subject area that i am going to create.
My question is what is the best way to use them .
I mean just to drag and drop them into new subject area or any other way.

Yes, you can basically copy paste all the tables that you need from BMM layer into your new folder in the presentation layer. Just make sure all the joins are defined well between all the tables that exists in the new folder, so you wont end up running into ODBC errors when you run analysis.

Updating Physical Cube Tables and Hierarchies OBIEE 11.1.1.7

I have imported a MSAS Cube, modeled it and created a presentation layer. I now have some new hierarchies I need to add to the phyicial layer.
How do you import new Cube Tables and/or Hierarchies?
When I select the Import option it creates a new OLAP database and connection pool, I am unable to successfully move those changes into the existing OLAP Connection.
I have been through the documentation and it reccomends importing over a manual process. However I am unable to figure out how to do this with the import process.

There is a section called Working with Multidimensional Sources in the Physical Layer, in this section is says
"Each multidimensional catalog in the data source can contain multiple physical cubes. You can import the metadata for one or more of these cubes into your Oracle BI repository. Although it is possible to create a cube table manually, it is recommended that you import metadata for cube tables and their components"
The New Utilities feature(s) is really cool, but it doesn't work for OLAP connections.

it works, but its a bit tricky. I did it with Oracle OLAP and I think it must be similar with other OLAP Databases.
Rename your existing Database in Physical Layer to the name Metadata Import dialog would create. With Oracle OLAP the "Data Source Name" ist used. Just try it once.
Unfortunately you can not merge dimensions and cubes as it is with relational Objects . So you have to delete the cube and dimensions you will import from you renamed Database in Physical Layer. Of course the mapping between physical and business model will be lost
Now you can import your modified OLAP-Cubes and Dimensions and it should be placed in your renamed Database in Physical Layer
Open the sources of your logical tables in business model and add the Dimensions or Cubes in the "General" Tab. Move to the Tab "Column Mapping" and check if mapping is OK. If not (this will be the case, if you customized the column names), you have to do the mapping from the scratch .
I recommend to use the original names from the data source. If you need another name for a column, just create a new logical column and use "Derive from existing columns". Now you can reimport OLAP Metadate quicker because the Mapping is done automatically.

Creating a table and content updation in Java Stack

I have a requirement that i need to capture the information of deployed content in a deploy log file present in the directory of a J2EE Engine and store it in a JAVA Persistence stack.I should not use any SAP tables so the JCO and RFC approch is not helpful in my case.Is it possible to create a table in the Java persistence layer (NetWeaver DB partition for Java).
So can any body helps me how to crate a table and update the content.As of now I am able to capture the log info.
Some body suggested me to use open SQL for Java.But I am very new to this area.
Any suggetions and code helps me to resolve this issue.

Yes your assumption is correct
What you need is a foreach loop based on ADO.Net enumerator which iterates through an object variable created in SSIS
The object variable you will populate inside execute sql task using query below
SELECT Col1,Col2
From Table2
Have two variables inside loop to get each iterated value of col1 and col2
Then inside loop have a data flow task with oledb source and flat file destination
Inside OLEDB Source use query as
SELECT *
FROM Table1
WHERE col1 = ?
Map parameter to Col1 variable inside loop
Now link this to flat file destination
Have a variable to generate filename using expression below
@[User::Col2] + (DT_STR,1,1252) "\\" + (DT_STR,10,1252) @[User::Col1] + ".txt"
Map this filename variable to connection string property of the flat file connection manager
Once executed you will get the desired output

OBIEE bypasses smaller aggregate table and queries largest aggregate table

Currently we are experiencing something strange regarding queries that are generated.
Scenario:
We have 1 detail table and 3 aggregate tables in the RPD. For this scenario I will only refer to 2 of the Aggregates.
Aggregate 1 (1 million rows):
Contains data - Division, Sales Rep, Month, Sales
Aggregate 2 (13 milliion rows):
Contains data - Division, Product, Month, Sales
Both tables are set at the appropriate dimension levels in the Business Model. Row counts have been updated in the physical layer in the RPD.
When we create an answers query that contains Division, Month and Sales, one would think that OBIEE would query the smaller and faster of the two tables. However, obiee wants to query the table with 13 million records completely bypassing the smaller table. If we make the larger aggregate inactive, then OBIEE queries the smaller table. We can't figure out why OBIEE wants to immediately go to the larger table.
Has anyone experienced something such as this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you try to change the sort order of the logical table source in your logical table ?

Expand the Warehouse tables X adding physical tables and joins

I was questioned about these options:
a) Add physical tables (from other DBs) and modifying the physical model with new joins + modifying logical model to include new columns
b) Expand warehouse tables to include new columns in the tables. Doing a complementar ETL in order to feed the additional columns with data. Logical model would be updated but the idea in this option is to avoid joins in the physical layer.
My understanding is that option a) despite the joins in the physical layer would be a better strategy.
Pls. I'd appreciate any comments on the performance side or in the amount of effort to create the complementar ETL...

I am not sure about what you mean with option a. In my understanding, you are asking for a comparison between:
a) adding data from an additional source in the RPD:
This means that you have to create an additional data source in the physical layer. I do not think you can create relations between physical tables sourced from different data sources in your physical layer. This means that the data is related in the logical layer. By doing this, the BI Server has to join the data from both sources for each front-end request. Also, it will have to perform the last aggregations instead of shipping it to the database. This is a big performance hit in terms of response time.
However! It can be much and much faster in terms of development effort required to support this. If it's only a limited number of columns and tables being added, this may be a valid option. You can also use this approach to prototype option b.
b) adding data from an additional source using ETL:
Quite some work in terms of development effort. However, all complexity and performance hits are moved to the bottom of the stack and process: database and ETL. You will need to create an additional data source in the DAC, additional custom folder(s) in Informatica and the ETL logic to update the existing tables and/or load new tables.
Additionaly, you need to expand the RPD with the new columns / tables, just as you would do in option a. However, now it will be sourced from the same datasource: less work for the BI Server to deliver the dataset to satisfy the request.
So basically, I would consider:
- How does the system currently perform: response times in the front end ( bad -> go for option b )
- How many columns will be added and how often will they be used in the front-end
- Informatica / DAC / OBI expertise available
- How long do you have to facilitate reporting on data from the 2nd source

Photoshop layer move and layer duplicate event ids

I am running PSCC 2014 on a mac. I work with a wacom table and keyboard shortcuts. I work fast without looking look at the keyboard. Often end up moving layers, duplicating layers inadvertently by pressing the wrong keys.
I have identified the keyboard shortcuts responsible for the layer shift/duplication and was able to record an action.
The idea is to setup a Javascript alert when the layer moves or duplicates using the Scripts Events Manager Photoshop Event dialog.
I have not been able to successfully add the Photoshop Event using the Event ID code 'copy' and ‘move’ listed in the Adobe Photoshop CC 2014 Javascript Scripting Reference guide.
The Adobe scripting listener plugin does not record the layer movement and layer duplication events.
When I replicate the problem the History pallet registers both, the layer copy and layer move events as a ‘move’ history state.
Other than Javascript Scripting Reference guide Is there a way to find out the exact event Id for a layer move and layer duplicate events?

sorry, I wasn't aware you're using a mac. I know that in Windows, you can run additional software that will send you an alert every time you accidentally press those keys. It can even block the layer shift/duplication if you choose. I've just tried a sample here on my system and it works perfectly - every time cmd (in my case ctrl) is pressed, a tooltip at the mouse cursor will pop up, saying "CTRL is pressed". Additionally, whenever I press ctrl+option+drag, the tooltip instead says "Layer has been moved". I'm positive this can also be done on the mac.
you should look into a key remapping program for the mac that resembles AutoHotKey for Windows (which is what I'm using). It will allow you to send alerts every time you press those key/mousebutton combinations by accident. This is a solution I bet you can take care of outside of Photoshop, meaning that you won't need to rely on javascripting or anything.

Keyboard Maestro seems to be the best bet but I wouldn't know for sure. Your solution will be in one of those programs for sure.

Arp table and mac table in cisco 4503 switch

I have a problem with 4503 switch
I have 7 highend servers in my lan i.e 5hp and 2dell servers.
Each server has 4 network interface cards(1g). so 7*4=28 ports.
I have create vlan 70, ip add is 10.70.70.1
I have assign ip address to servers like
first server         10.70.70.2, 10.70.70.12,
Second server   10.70.70.3, 10.70.70.13,
Third server        10.70.70.4, 10.70.70.14,
fourth Server       10.70.70.5, 10.70.70.15, 10.70.70.25, 10.70.70.35
fifth server           10.70.70.6, 10.70.70.16, 10.70.70.26, 10.70.70.36
sixth server          10.70.70.7, 10.70.70.17, 10.70.70.27, 10.70.70.37
seventh server      10.70.70.8, 10.70.70.18, 10.70.70.28, 10.70.70.38
The problem is in four interfaces each server, only one or two interfaces are pinging, remaining interface are not pinging.
for example in the first server i can able to ping 10.70.70.12- macid 60eb.69d2.a2aa
                                            i can't able to ping 10.70.70.2- macid 60eb.69d2.a2ab
second, fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh continiously pinging successfully.
for example in fourth server i can able to ping 10.70.70.5 macid -b499.bafe.9c98
                                         i can able to ping 10.70.70.15 macid-b499.bafe.9c98
                                         i can able to ping 10.70.70.25 macid-b499.bafe.9c98
                                         i can able to ping 10.70.70.35 macid-b499.bafe.9c98
now you understand what is the problem, which server i am not getting pinging that arp table shows each interface separte mac address

How to use one query against multiple table and recieve one report?

I have duplicate tables, (except for their names of course) with commodities prices. They have the same column headings, but the data is different of course. I have a query that gives me a certain piece of information I am looking for but now I need to run this query against every table. I will do this every day as well, to see if the buying criteria is met. There are alot of tables though (256). Is there a way to say run query in all tables and return the results in one place? Thanks for your help.

b. you can use all_tables in order to write a select that will write the report for you:

How to disable a single cell in a table (and not the whole column)

Hi there,
I've got a webdynpro table with a few columns, rows can be created dynamically through a button in the table toolbar.
Depending on the value of a certain cell I have to disable another cell (in the same row).
I tried to manipulate the view in the modifyview but no joy. I also tried to manipulate the attribute property through the coding below:
DATA lv_knttp TYPE knttp.

lo_el_kostl = lo_nd_kostl->get_element( ).

but it disables the whole column!!!! I just need the cell to be disabled (I thought the code above, through the lead selection, would affect a certain cell only - but I was wrong).

Instead of binding the read only property of table as a whole , just bind the read only property of column group of table., You can do this bu drill down the table and select the required column and bind the read only column.,
then In onAction Event of button .,
loop the table, if condition satisfied set the read only property to true else false.,!!
