Tables in dropdowns cut off when printing

In a RoboHelp (X5) HTML project, one of our topics has some
fairly long tables in dropdowns.
When we print these topics (either from the preview or from
the compiled CHM), any table in a dropdown that crosses a page
break is invisible until the point at which it spills over to the
second page. The rows on the next page print normally.
Has anyone else encountered this? Or better yet, found a
solution other than not using tables in dropdowns?

Thanks for responding, Peter. I actually solved this particular problem by converting the type to outlines, and it printed just fine after that.
In this case, it was an okay fix, because it was just a small area of display text but I'm worried that I'll have the same problem again later in larger documents and body text. So I'll keep that suggestion in mind if I run into the problem again!
(BTW, I do suspect that the problem stems from a driver issue. I'm printing on a basic, off-the-shelf HP home printer which doesn't have a driver I can select in my Print dialogue.)

  • Text getting cut off when printing to PDF from Excel

    Hello,
I've seen a lot related to this subject but nothing that shows a real solution.
Using Excel 2003-sp3 and Adobe Acrobat v.9 Standard, the right half of the last character in the string gets cut off. It prints from excel fine.
It's not always the text that is the right-most on the page either. An affected PDF file is attached - note the cut off "S" on the last line (NET ASSETS OF GOVERNMENTAL ACTIVITIES).
         Any assistance is appreciated.
    Thanks,

  • HP Laserjet P1102w - Right side margin cut off when printing in Internet Explorer 9! URGENT PROBLEM*

    Hi,
I have just purchased a new printer (HP Laserjet P1102W), and when I print a web page in Internet Explorer 9, the footer (I set to the URL) does not print at all and the header will print though the right hand edge of my entire web page is cut off (including my top right header - Pages ? of ?).
I always use Print Preview first, and in the print preview it looks perfect. I always tick the box to enable shrink to fit too. Why will it look perfect in 'Print Preview' but yet when it prints, it cuts off the right hand side edge of the page and doesnt print the footer?? I have tried adjusting margins, etc... all to no avail.
I would like to check whether others have this same problem?
I spoke to HP (UK Printer Support) and they said it is Internet Explorer 9's problem. I have left a message on the Microsodt Web forum which you can see here. http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/ie/forum/ie9-windows_vista/internet-exploer-9-not-printing-header...
I am hoping they may release a patch / hotfix - but this has to be affecting many other users of this printer too? The more of us that complain, the quicker it will get sorted.
Any others with the same problem?
    Thanks.

I spoke with Microsoft technical support via phone today. Between us - we seemed to have found the problem.
It's to do with the DPI (the font size) settings in Windows!?
I have mine set to 188% on my Windows Vista mahcine and 200% on my Windows 7 laptop.
From my Printing tests in Internet Explorer 9...
at 100 % DPI – it prints perfectly
at 150% DPI – it prints perfectly
at 200% DPI – the right side of the margin is cut off, and no footer is printed – despite it looking perfect in the Print Preview.
I am using http://uk.msn.com/ as my test print outs.
This indicates when the DPI is changed above 150%, IE9 doesn't print properly – though other browsers like Safari or Firefox do print correctly. This surely has to indicate a bug in either the Windows operating system or Internet Explorer 9?
Microsoft are going to run their own tests and phone me back tomorrow...hopefully with a solution!
Hope this helps any others with the same problem at the moment!
Would be great if HP could provide a soloution asap - surely a tweak to the Printer dirvers will fix the problem?

  • Notes cut off when printing, issue with margins

When I print a slide with notes, the notes complete cover the width of the page, flush left and right. My printer cuts the margins automatically (not a bleed), so those portions of the text in the notes gets cut off.
Any way to control the margins, left and right, when printing notes from Keynote?

Keynote print layout is a bit of a mess, and is well commented on by users, it prints differently than previous versions, eg  in handouts the slide image is much smaller than previously, in grid, the slides are off the printable area on the left.
We are hoping this is fixed in the round of scheduled updates.

  • Top of image cut off when printed

I used Aperture to print a borderless 4x6 on borderless paper. In the print preview, the entire image was there (a close-up of Detroit Tiger Verlander with his hat on). Then I printed and the top 10-20% of his hat was cut off.
But then I ordered an online print through Aperture of the same photo just as I set up to print from my printer. The print was sent to me without being clipped at the top.
Anyone know why this clipping happens when I print the picture? I quadruple checked all the settings.

You may want to check on the printer driver and paper size selected

  • How do I get my watermark not to get cut off when printing from aperture?

When I export an image that I have put my watermark on and print it the water mark gets cut off in the printing

Aperture should scale watermarks down to fit the exported image.  Perhaps it is scaling to one dimension and not both?
Have you tried resizing your watermark?  I suggest creating a watermark for each commonly used export size.  I use a wide and not tall watermark, in these widths (in pixels):
    - 320
    - 640
    - 1024

  • Photo getting cut off when printing

I am trying to print a 6x4 photo with my HP Photosmart B8550.  Everytime I go to print it, it cuts off part of the picture.  I created the picture in Photoshop at 6x4 and saved it as a jpg.  In the preview it shows up fine but it is NOT right when it prints.  Please advise.

The edges of your image will be cut off by a printer that can’t print all the way to the edges of the paper. In order to prevent this, go to the Image Size menu again and decrease the height by 1 inch (thus also reducing the width). When printed, the image will be centered on the paper. You can also choose “Scale to Fit Media” In Page Setup.

The leftmost character is being cut off some reports when printed. I have added the following to the registry on the report server but it still is cutting off the the left side of some reports.
    REPORTS_ADD_HWMARGIN = YES
I am also getting a blank page after each printed page.

    Any change the OS changed?
For example we were running 6 and everything was Windows.
On 10 the Report Server in on Linux and we had to play with the Fonts some to make it work.
    We change the uifont.ali file
Its a long shot but in that file under these sections here what I have it it helps (Please make a copy first)
In the file /u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/guicommon/tk/admin/uifont.ali there are several issues.
First under “Mapping from MS Windows”
    # Mapping from MS Windows
    #Arial = helvetica
    #"Courier New" = courier
    #"Times New Roman" = times
    #Modern = helvetica
    #"MS Sans Serif" = helvetica

    "Times New Roman" = times
    Modern = helvetica
    "MS Sans Serif" = helvetica
    "MS Serif" = times
    "Small Fonts" = Helvetica
The lines in bold have been added.
Next under “Support for Far Eastern Languages”
    # PDF section can be additionally used to enable Multibyte language support
    # built into Reports. To use this feature with Adobe (r) Acrobat (c), you
    # need to install the Asian font pack available online at the Adobe web site.
    # .....SJIS = "HeiseiKakuGo-W5-Acro"
    # A Japanese report run with Shift-JIS character set is replaced to
    # HeiseiKakuGo-W5-Acro CID font.
    #itcadvantgardegothic = arial
#"ITC Avant Garde Gothic" = arial
    #itcadvantgardegothic = Arial

"ITC Avant Garde Gothic" = Helvetica
    # Required
    #itcadvantgardegothic = Arial
#"ITC Avant Garde Gothic" = Arial
The lines in bold have been added
Finally under “PDF:Subset” everything is commented out.

  • Brochure template right-side edge gets cut off when printed

its horizontal set-up, 8.5x11.0. but on both my printers (both HPs) the right edge gets cut off. how can I manipulate the doc to a smaller size without making the formating go cattywampus?
comments are hidden (that helped a little)

With my DeskJet there is an option to "scale down" a document to fit the page. Do yours offer that?
Also, I apologize if this idea is too hokey, depending upon the nature and extent of your printing project, but would it be acceptable to set up your printer for legal-size paper and then trim the hardcopies?

  • Header cut off when printing

Whenever I print a document, the header is cut off. How do I fix this?

One thing you might want to do is to update software i.e. - 10.6.8 is the latest version of that software and now there are more current updates for the OS.
Did you drag it to the print module as I remember all you need to do is click on print (upper right)
Make sure you are using the right paper and setting all the way thourout the chain.

  • Image cut off when printing from snipping tool

I am using the snipping tool that is part of Microsoft Windows 7. Thank you for your help.

Hey , Welcome to the HP forums! I understand that you are experiencing issues with cut off images on your Windows 7 PC before printing to your Envy 7640. I can help you with that, however I am not quite sure what program you are using that has your snipping tool. If you let me know what program you are using I can make sure we get you pointed in the right direction to resolve this.

  • Image gets cut off when printing tiles

My InDesign file includes an 8" x 28" page containing a full-bleed image that prints as 4 tiles of 8.5" x 11".  Whenever I print, the image does not print on the first tile. The foreground text and vector graphics print fine. The image is a PSD, but I've also tried flattened TIFs and JPGs with the same results. Even if I make the page twice as big so nothignbleeds, the image doesn't print on the first tile that should contain the image.
    Any suggestions? Thanks

    Thanks for the ideas.
I thought about printing from a PDF, but I couldn't find a way to print tiles in Acrobat. I'll see if I can print to tiles as a PDF. I also will see what happens if I place a PDF into the InDesign file, then print that.
I didn't log in as a different user, but I did open on another computer, with same results.
Never heard of .inx, but I'll try that too.
    Some new twists:
    1) When I flip the page orientation upside-down in the print dialogue box, the opposite happens - the last image tile doesn't print.
    2) Today I printed the page at 50% and it worked fine with all image tiles printing correctly.

  • Text to the right is cut off on print/preview of web pages

    To the WebMaster's of oracle.com
I' still like to print out information from your web site about hot topics (like your recent articles about BPEL), so a long flight will get more interesting..
However the text to the right is cut off when printing (using IE6 on WinXP). It seems that the formatting requires a minimum width.
I would also prefer to see the "print view" link at the top of an article and not at the bottom.
    With best regards from Germany,
    Stefan

Stefan....this problem sometimes occurs with articles containing wide code samples. Can you please provide the specific problem URLs?
We are aware that the "Print View" functionality is less visible than it could be; unfortunately, moving it to the top of the page isn't as straightforward as it seems. We're working on it.
    Cheers, OTN
This problem should now be fixed in the three BPEL Cookbook installments.

  • Bottom margin gets cut off when I try to print

bottom margin gets cut off when I try to print

Not being able to check it out on Pages 5 I have tosay how it works in Pages 4 (09). When Show Layout is checked/on you should see a grey border which is the area that the printer can't print on. Do you see a grey boder in your Pages 5?
If you need a smaller margin on your document than the printer seems being able to do check if you don't hae a "borderless" option for the paper sizr you use. You check it in File > Page Setup
Also go to HP and check if there is a newer printer driver if yours has some years on it.
I hope this will help you

  • Characters are cut off when they don't fit in the pdf report output.

    Hi All,
I understand that Forms 6i and Oracle 9 iAS have been de-supported for years. Meanwhile we do still run a small application in the 9 iAS environment.
We have forms and reports running on Windows 2000 server, I am able to successfully clone the same 9 iAS from Windows 2000 to a Virtual Server Windows 2003 x32 and all runs fine, the only problem is that the fonts in the pdf reports are larger in the new Windows 2003 environment as compared to the original Windows 2000 and characters are cut off when they don't fit in the pdf report output in 2003 env.
    Any advice is most appreciated.
    Thanks.

You may want to check on the printer driver and paper size selected
