Tables in Formscentral

How do I create a table with text fields so that the table can be completed in Adobe Pro XI Formscentral.
The table must have four columns and seven rows - where the first row and the first column will be used for headings. The rest of the table must be open so that it can be filled in.

Unfortunately, there isn't a way to do this with a web form or a PDF generated from a form created by the FormsCentral designer app.

  • Creating tables in FormsCentral

Hi!  I am trying to create a table in FormsCentral to add student expenses and savings--creating an bursary application form, for student in financial need.  Can this be done with Forms Central.  I have found functions to be used in FormsCentral http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat-com/formscentral/help/formula-syntax-built-in-functions.htm l; but where can we utilize these if the option of creating a table is not available at this time. Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you!

    Hi;
Tables are not a type of field FormsCentral supports at this time.  The Help docs about Formulas are for the "View Responses" tab where there is a table of the responses, not for the form itself.
    Thanks,

  • Fillable tables in FormsCentral yet?

    Hello,
It was previously answered that tables are not supported in FormsCentral.  That was is 2011.  Have any improvements been made, and are fillable tables supported in FormsCentral yet?  If not, does anyone have any workarounds to either get a table OR a question with multiple checkboxes in one line to work?
Example)  Please indicate if the following materials are used in the construction of your device:
    Material          Yes          No                    Comments
    Sunshine          X
    Rainbows          X
Unicorns                         X                    We were out of unicorns.
    Thanks!!

Sure! Heck, I've got LOTS of FormsCentral tips!
When it comes to skip logic, there are just a few things to remember:
You can apply skip logic to a question, to several questions, or to whole pages of your form. Just select the item that you want to show or hide based on a previous response, and check the "Show/hide" box in the field properties fly-out menu. That's where you can set your conditions. (If you want to show or hide a full page, add a page break to your form, select that page break, and check the box there.)
FormsCentral lets you show or hide content based on answers to previous questions - you can choose the number of conditions you set. Remember, though, that these answers MUST be for choice-based questions: drop-down menus, single or multiple choice questions, or check boxes. FormsCentral can't read answers people type in, so they have to have chosen an item from some sort of list. Take your fine example of the materials checklist:
Notice that I had to choose a field from the above table that had certain associated values (in our case, either yes or no).
The best way to learn how to do this is just to play around with the conditions for a given form field or form page and test the resulting form; I'm sure you'll get the hang of it pretty quickly! Let me know if you need any more help and I'll try to explain this stuff in more detail.
    Thanks!

  • How do I change the order of columns in the responses table?

How do i change the order of columns in the responses table in FormsCentral?  The default setting puts them in reverse order!

    Hi,
The issue with the default ordering of columns in the response table is something that we hope to address in the next update to FormsCentral. In the meantime, you can reorder the columns by selecting them then click/drag using the gray area above the column name. As shown below, an orange marker will show you where the columns will be placed when you release the mouse button.
    Sorry for the inconvenience.

  • How can I add a fillable table to my form?

How do I create a form that includes a fillable table in FormsCentral?  I need to create a form that is similar to an order form with multiple spaces available for Quantity, Item Description, and Cost.  Then I need it to calculate a total cost for all items.  Can I do that using FormsCentral?  If not, what is your solution?  Keeping in mind that I want people to be able to complete the form electronically instead of pringing it and filling it out.
    Thanks,

Forms created/designed in FormsCentral don't support calculations. FormsCentral also doesn't support tables on the form. You can add fields side by side but it won't be exactly like a table. You best solution is to create a PDF outside of FormsCentral. You can use Acrobat to add form fields and caulculations to your form.
Once you have the PDF Form you can import it in FormsCentral to collect data electronically. People will need to fill out your Submission enabled PDF Form using Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Reader or Adobe Reader Mobile and then press the submit button added by FormsCentral to send the data electronically to your Response Table inside FormsCentral.
    hope this helps

  • Tables in Forms

How can I make tables in a form?

Sorry we do not support table in FormsCentral. You can put elements side-by-side but not in a table format per se.
You can create a PDF form (outside of FormsCentral) with a table and them import that PDF into FormsCentral to collect data.

  • Adobe Forms Central? or Adobe Live Cycle?

Our company is currently using fillable PDF forms that are created in Word and converted to a fillable PDF by our company webmasters. Our individual department would like to be able to create the fillable PDF and post to our website to be completed by customers.  After the form is filled out and submitted, we would like the form emailed back to a staff member(s) looking exactly like the form that was filled out with the customers responses.  We are not interested in having an 'response database'.
What products that Adobe offers do we need -- Forms Central or Live Cycle?
    Thank you --

You could create the PDF Forms in FormsCentral. If you have Acrobat XI you can create unlimitted local PDF forms with the FormsCentral for Acrobat that comes with Acrobat Pro XI.
You then need to open the form in Acrobat and add an email submit button yourself. So instead of using the FormsCentral submit button which would collect responses in the View Responses Table in FormsCentral, this way the submission would send you an email of the fill out PDF form.
This FAQ explain how to modify a FormsCentral form in Acrobat :

  • Copy of the filled in PDF Form

If a person fills out the PDF form and clicks submit, the responses will populate the table in FormsCentral, but is there a way that upon clicking submit a PDF version of the completed form can be emailed to a specific address?

At present there is no way to do this as one opperation. You can select the response from response table and save as a PDF but this is a somewhat manual process. I encourage you to vote for this feature as it is something we have heard before.

  • Can I download a response and edit it?

I have successfully downloaded a response in .pdf-format. Can I edit this. Using it for career development so I need to constantly update development plans etc. ?

    Hi;
The PDF of the response is not really editable, the form fields are "baked in" and cannot be modified.  You can always edit the response in the Response table in FormsCentral and then "Save Response as PDF" again with the updated data.
    Thanks,
    Josh

  • Is it possible to have an email notification include a "downloaded" PDF

I'm hoping to set up the email to include a fully filled out PDF (downloaded PDF as it's referred to within FormsCentral). This would be a great option and would allow me to set up an email to give a client access to the information in an easy to read format.
    Thanks!

We don't support delivery of attachments with email notifications at this time. Additionally PDF forms submitted to Formscentral have their responses added to the response table within Formscentral. Based on your question it doesn't sound like there is an easy way to do this within Formscentral alone. If you were to use Acrobat and an email based workflow this would be possible.

  • Adobe FormsCentral: Why do blank columns appear in my response table?

Does anyone know why blank columns labeled Column1, Column2, etc. sometimes appear in the response table in Adobe FormsCentral?

You're in the wrong forum, this one is for LiveCycle Designer.

  • I have imported a PDF form (created in adobe acrobat XI pro) into FormsCentral.  I now want to convert this document into a web form so I can embed it into my website.  HOW DO I DO THIS?

I took a word document I had created and added fields to it in Adobe Acrobat XI Pro.  I then imported the PDF in Forms Central and now I am stuck.  All I am able to do with it in FormsCentral is add a submit button.  It will not allow me to edit the document in FormsCentral.  What I ultimately need to do is get this converted to a web form so that I can embed it into our company website.  Additionally, once it's converted, I need to add an option for the user to attach their resume with the file before submitting.  I have looked all over the web and I cannot find an answer as to whether or not I can convert PDFs to web forms in FormsCentral.  This will ultimately determine whether or not the company decides to purchase these programs after the trial version has ended in a few days.

I tried that first, but FormsCentral does not have the capability to create tables.  The form I need to create is more advanced than what FormsCentral allows.  Do you know if there is a way to create or somehow import a table when creating a web based form on FormsCentral?

  • Can I use Acrobat 11 & FormsCentral to keep info and forms only on my computer or is info kept on a

I'm planning to upgrade to Acrobat XI specifically for the webforms, data collection and payment options using FormsCentral. But I don't want details stored anywhere but on my computer or host server. So I have several questions before I make my decision.
    1) Is there anyway to use the Forms Central Desktop app to save the forms templates to my hard drive, or do I just need to create my own with Acrobat?
    2) Can I just have the responses and payment information sent directly to me and not saved on the FormsCentral server?
    3) If not: Can I delete the responses and payment details from the FormsCentral server?
    4) I need a way to use this information when my computer is not connected to the Internet, so it needs to be on my computer. I'm not always where I can get Internet access, and when I can, it often is a public WiFi  access (I travel full time.)
    5) I write ebooks and training courses. I will have some affiliates promoting my products. I would like to use this system to make it easy for them to make a sale that tells me which affiliate referred the buyer. Is there a way to use Acrobat forms and FormsCentral to do this without relying on the buyer to enter a code? I'm thinking, possibly, of a form they can add to their website that will take the information and send it to my account. I can't quite figure this out.
    Thanks.

Sorry for the delayed response. I had one of those disconnect episodes that is one of my reasons for NOT wanting any of my data accessible only from a cloud service. I'm back on now. But lost almost a full day because of this.
RE: 1) Do you want to create web forms or PDF forms?
From reading the instructions for Acrobat X, I'm hoping to create a PDF form that I can put on the website, have people fill it out, then when they click "submit" it comes to me in an email. I don't know if the term "web forms" implies anything other than that (such as FormsCentral memebership), but since the instruction manual called them webforms with no mention of FormsCentral, it looks like I can do this much without getting involved with that service. I posted the instructions below so you know what I'm referring to (Acrobat X manual)
RE: 2) Do you want to collect data in a table-like format or do you want to receiving filled-out PDF forms directly to your email inbox and you manage your own data?
I'd like to receive the forms by email, then I'll put it into my database. I can make tables or put it in spreadsheets or whatever I want from there.
RE: Without the subscription & with FormsCentral for Acrobat :...
    - You can't create web forms (HTML forms)
There is a save to HTML feature in Acrobat X. When I saved a document with a form to HTML format I could open it with a browser, but the form fields didn't show up. Don't know if that because it really doesn't do this, or if I'm so new at this I screwed it up.
Also, there was some comment about needing a CGI script to collect the information and send it to a database, and that makes sense to me, though I don't know how to use CGI. I have a CGI something or other available through my hosting service. Maybe that's what I need to learn to use.
Here are the instructions for v.X
Home / Using Acrobat X Pro / Forms / Publishing interactive web forms
    Add submit functionality
    Submit Form Selections options
Use the Submit A Form action to send form data to an email address or to a web server by specifying a URL. You can also use the submit button to send other files back to a server or database. For example, you can attach scanned images or files to a form. The files are submitted along with the rest of the form data when you click the Submit button.
If your PDF form contains an email-based submit button, you can use the Distribute workflow to facilitate distributing the form to others.
Select Tools > Forms > Edit, then select Button from the Add New Field list, and create a button.
Double-click the button to open the Button Properties dialog box.
Click the Actions tab, and select Mouse Up from the Select Trigger menu.
Select Submit A Form from the Select Action menu, and then click Add.
In the Submit Form Selections dialog box, type an entry in Enter A URL For This Link:
To send the form data to a web server, enter the destination URL.
To send the form data to an email address, enter mailto: followed by the email address. For example, type mailto:[email protected]
Make additional changes to the available options, and then click OK to close the dialog box.
Change settings on other tabs in the Button Properties dialog box as needed, and then click Close.
