Tables in iWeb

Does anyone know of a way to create editable tables in iweb 08? iweb 06 has that functionality. After creating a table in excel, pages, or any other program I could copy it into iweb and then edit the content. Right clicking on the table would bring up a menu of table editing features (add row, delete column, etc.)
With iweb 08 it always copies the table (even from pages or numbers) as an image. All of the hyperlinks are lost and the editing functionality doesn't work anymore. Is there an easy work around that anybody knows?

This is a seemingly crazy way, but through trial and error, I found a way to make an editable table! I exported my Pages doc to Word, then opened the Word doc in a browser window to be able to view the source in html. (Perhaps you can do this in Pages, but I haven't found a way.) Then I copied the html source code and pasted it onto my iWeb page using the HTML Snippet option. It is somewhat laborious to do it this way, and some of the better visual aspects - like gradient fills - are lost, but I was able to retain the editability of the table (using html - not plain text, however). It should be much easier than this!
If anyone finds an easier way to have an editable table in iWeb, please let me know. PDFs and jpegs are OK if you aren't going to change the info within the table very often.

If it's a one page PDF file just drag it onto the webpage and resize to fit. If it's a multi page PDF file you can add it as in this demo page: Scrolling Text Box

iWeb doesn't have tables, you need other applications that can export to HTML to generate HTML code.
Good old Appleworks 6.2.7 , OpenOffice and MS Excel are a few, once you have HTML code, just add it to HTML Snippet, see this:

  • Edit-able tables in iWeb?

I am a teacher, and have a website for my students where I list what we do every day in class and have links to all notes and assignments. Usually, I just create a table that looks like a calendar. I've been using Google Sites, and it's been fine except I seem to reach my file limit in January. I'd love to use iWeb, but I can't figure out how to make an edit-able table for the website.
I realize that you can make tables using HTML, but those don't seem to be that easy to edit (i.e. I would need to edit it at least once every day to update what we did in class). I know you can use Google Calendar, but the layout of the calendar entries just doesn't work as well as when I make my own table-esque calendar, and then I to link any files I have to upload them to Google Documents first.
I realize I'm being picky, but I'd just love a way to make and edit a table in iWeb like there is in Google Sites. Has anyone been able to find a way to do this? If so, my next question will be: how do I actually get my kids to remember to check the freakin' calendar? But I regress.
    Thank you so much!

Hmmmm.. as far as I remember the answer is no.
The way I do it is to drop an empty text box over the file name in the table and make this a hyperlink to the file.
Some people report that this doesn't work and use a shape with almost zero opacity. I think they have this problem when using internal rather than external links. If you are linking to files in a download folder on your server you will be using external links and the text box is a lot quicker to do.
The links on this page are done in this fashion....

Lion has nothing to do with counters.  For iWeb counters to work you must publish the website to MobileMe.
If you publish your site to a 3rd party ftp server you will need to use a 3rd party counter like StatCounter. This tutorial describes how to apply the counter via HTML snippts: 13 - Adding a Graphical StatCounter as an HTML Snippet to an iWeb Page.

  • Need Tables in iWeb

    Greetings,
I need some tables in iWeb. I am a market trader and need to update trade performance on my site. Any ideas? Here is the page: http://web.me.com/jgospodarek/FastPips/Performance.html
    Thanks!

There is no way to get an easily updated table into iWeb. Most require a lot of work. I have a demo page with several methods but took a fair amount of time to make: Tables.
If the viewer doesn't have to be able to copy any of the text you could make an image of your table and use that. To made it easy to update embed the image with iFrame code and an HTML snippet linking to the image on your server. To make a change you must update the image and place it on the server. The web page will automatically update the embedded image. The iFrame code to use is described in the Scrolling Text Box link below.
You could make a pdf of the table and embed the pdf file in a page like the image method above. Just change the pdf file on the server and the web site is updated. See this demo page: Scrolling Text Box. If the table is in Excel just do a Print to PDF and upload the pdf to the server replacing the previous version.
Not the test of solutions but would work and easily updated.

  • Can you make a table in iweb?

I want to make a table of results right on my iweb page. Can I do this. In the past, I had to make one in word and take a screen shot of it and then add it to the website.

What's the difference between pasting the html code directly in a html snippet, which is an iframe, btw, and displaying an external html file in same html snippet with an iframe?
Here's are some ways to do it.
Read this how to use tables in iWeb :
    http://www.wyodor.net/blog/archives/2010/01/entry_297.html

    And here's a non-iWeb page with a sortable table :
    http://www.wyodor.net/htmlegg/TallCard/TallAjax.html?pg=tablesorter
Or use a database on the server with MySQL and make tables with PHP.
    http://www.google.com/search?q=create+html+table+with+data+from+mysql+database
    Here's a very simple application :
    http://home.wyodor.net/w3school
Learn to install and use MySQL on your computer :
    http://www.wyodor.net/sql/tut.html
And if that's not enough, use Google Docs to create tables. Use the spreadsheet. And when you use a Form you can collect the info from your website and receive it in the same spreadsheet.
Display the result in a HTML snippet.

  • Adding Pages Document which includes a table to Iweb.

    Hello All,
Im creating a website on Iweb and would like to add a "pages document" which includes a table to it. Doesnt seem to be all that easy?
    Would appreciate any help.
    Thank you.

Don't confuse the Operating System (yosemite) with the version of Pages.
It sounds like you have Pages 5.5.3.
It only works in Pages '09, like 100+ other features only work in Pages '09 and previous.

  • Tables and iweb

I am needing to put a table on my website, but I can't seem to get it done. Every time I try to copy and paste the table into a text box, iweb does not keep the table in the table form. I could not find a place for entering a table under the instructor button. Any suggestions?

I work with very, very large tables. They are maintained in Excel and then selections are saved/exported as HTML. When Excel renders the HTML coding it has a long, long list of formats per column and rows. I've found that copying and pasting that into a snippet may or may not work. I've also run into issues with font types.
For now I save each table and store that page on a GoDaddy account (which could just as easily be done with a .mac account). Then I bring the table back into the website via an iFrame. Excel adds some padding around the table, to get rid of that padding you'll need to edit these values to zero:
    <body leftmargin="0" topmargin="0" marginleft="0" margintop="0">
My tables are large, so editing them is tedious and they are many of them. If Apple would add tables directly in iWeb, my life would be much easier - I think. Apple also needs to think about how to manage very large tables with controls such as scrollbars, etc.
For the most part this renders fine in Safari and Firefox. IE has some quirks, but it works.

  • How to Create Tables in iWeb?

    Hi All,
I have managed to create a form to include on my website for feedback, but I would also like to include a table. How do you do it?
    Thanks

For an actual table, you can got to http://www.searchengineforums.com/tools/generate-tables/ and generate the size and format table that you like, copy the html it displays and embed it in iWeb as an HTML snippet.

  • Question about Tables in iWeb

Having read previous posts, I understand that tables can be made one of two ways for use in iWeb: (1) Create them in Pages or Keynote and paste them in or (2) create HTML code and use the HTML snippit widget.
The problem I see with the first method is that the table, based upon my experimentation, are seen in iWeb as a graphic. So there's no real way to control something like print size, for instance.
The problem with the second method is that an HTML snippit cannot be inserted within a textbox. So if a person's browser is rending text differently than I have set up a page in iWeb, text could potentially overlap the table.
Therefore, to put a table in the middle of text, it would seem preferable to create the table in Pages or Keynote.
So here's my question, assuming the above is correct--is there any way for a table pasted from Pages or Keynote to be treated as any other way than a graphic? I'm still concerned about text size in the graphic not matching text size on the page with all the various browsers and browser settings. I realize that this method won't create overlapping text, but it would seem that there's great potential for the table to not match the body text.

I know that iWeb creates them in HTML. I am a little more familiar with web pages than what I my post probably let you believe. I guess what I was curious about was the way in which Apple archives the news and turns it into an RSS feed. I've tried playing around with Safari, and viewing other RSS feeds, but I have not come across a way to print multiple RSS feeds at once.
I guess what I am trying to get around is printing all of the pages individually, since as you could imagine that would equate to a ton of paper since I would be working about 3-4 days per week x 32 weeks (8 months). So you are talking about 96-128 pages of entries.
Could you recommend any shortcuts for trying to do what I am trying to do, even if it doesn't involve iWeb? (I do have access to another domain with PHP scripting and a mySQL database if you have suggestions)

  • IWeb 08!! (AHHH!!!)

    Hey
I am one of the many, who is having issues with the new suite of programs. Basically this is my problem:
I started a website in iWeb 06 and it had been going perfectly and was looking pretty swish. I installed iLife 08, and frantically checked my website. Nothing wrong, Phew! So I carried on working and everything was going nicely, until I published my site. You will be surprised to know that I didn't get a error, however when I went to check my website, I looked at one of the tables I had made and It was all messed up. To tell you the truth they weren't really tables, they were just lines organised to look like tables. Luckily as this is a project for school I have several other versions of the site published into folders and saved. So I took a screenshot of the new version and the old version to show you (See below). So my question to you guys is how do I make a proper table in iWeb? Or how can I get my website looking the way it should?

I wish I had the answers.. until Apple fixes this program.. there will not be any valid answers... I like being used as a beta test subject. Maybe the guys on here that say that we should ask questions and they will help. Maybe they can answer this?
But the truth of the matter is we got sold something that doesn't work....

  • Combine iWeb with Pages and ExcelMac

I would like to introduce a table with data and some functions in iWeb.
The objective is to let the user of the web change the data and let him/her to see the result in the cells where the functions are.
I've tried in the easy way: copy-paste and it doesn't work because iweb copy it as an image not as a excel/pages table.
    Please help me,
