Tables - keeping together

Hi there,
I have previously asked for help with creating a "column" down the right hand side of a set of Minutes I am preparing.  The advice given was to use tables instead of creating columns.  However, now that I have created the table, there
is a large gap on the page (see attached pic).
The gap is quite far up on the page and then the next set of cells are on the second page, with this huge gap in the middle.
How can I keep all the tables and contents together so that they run on like a normal document would (i.e. without tables).
Any help much appreciated; currently tearing my hair out!
Thanks,
FP

I forgot to attach - doh!
Here it is attached.
I have since had a look and according to some blogs I have read the only way to do this is to make a new cell for each paragraph, but to me this seems extremely inconvenient and fiddly!  I may have been better just creating a column after all, but I
have no idea how to get it to work the way I want it.  Anyway that's besides the point, if I can get the table working without having to create a new cell each time I take a new paragraph I'd be a happy
chappie.
Thanks again,
FP

  • Report crashes, seems to be because of "Keep together"? (Crystal Report 9)

    Hi,
We have a report that crashes when run on Crystal Reports 9. It only crashes when "something" on the page hits a limit, as if we remove one line from the data, it does not crash, and if we add one line, it does not crash.
We fixed a very similar report by removed "Keep Together" on a field, but this was not ticked for this field on this report. However, there are other fields that have Keep Together ticked, but they are supposed to keep together too...
I found this defect, and was wondering if this is present in 9 too (seeing as it's fixed in 10)? This says "Report Designer", but I guess it's meant that the report crashes when run??
    "ADAPT00258586 Patch ID: 36064133
    Description:
The Report Designer crashes when a report contains a text object that stretches over two pages. This problem occurs
when the Keep Together option is set.

    This problem is resolved."

    Hello,
The issue described in ADAPT00258586 covers CR8.5, CR9 and CR10. [Note 1217122 - CR 8.5 shuts down when a text object goes over 2 pages with Keep Together set|https://bosap-support.wdf.sap.corp/sap/support/notes/0001217122] discusses the different fixes that need to be applied for each version of Crystal Reports.
If you're seeing the issue in Crystal Reports itself (the designer) then you want to apply the "Main" patch. If you're seeing the issue at runtime in a VB6 application that uses the RDC then you'll want to apply the "Developer" patch.
You can find the "Developer" patch at the link listed in the Note since it still works:
    [ftp://ftp.crystaldecisions.com/outgoing/EHF/cr90devwin_en.zip|ftp://ftp.crystaldecisions.com/outgoing/EHF/cr90devwin_en.zip]
You'll have to search for the "Main" patch since that link in the Note no longer works.
You can search for CR9 hot fixes and service packs from the [Business Objects Support Software Download page|http://service.sap.com/sap/bc/bsp/spn/bobj_download/main.htm]. Set the filters to Crystal Reports > Crystal Reports 9 > Hot Fix or Service Pack. Any of the later "cr90devwin_en" patches should have the fix, as should the later service packs. The [readme|https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/sapidp/012002523100005987162008E/cr90mainwin_en.pdf] for [this version of the Main patch|https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/sapidp/012002523100005987172008E/cr90mainwin_en.zip] shows that ADAPT00258586 was listed as being resolved, so it should work in resolving the issue.
Since the patch date is listed as being from 2004 it's also likely that some of the later Service Packs will pick up this fix as well. You can search on the same Software Download page for Service Packs if you want to test those as well.
    I hope this helps!

  • How do I keep together items in a group footer?

I have a report that has a line of detail, followed by a subreport, and then another subreport all in the group footer.  The report is also formatted to be displayed in two columns.  The problem I am having is that even with the keep together checkbox selected in the group footer, often times the line of detail and the first subreport are displayed and the second subreport is shown in the second column.  They need to all move to the second column if there is not enough room in the first column for everything to be displayed.  Any ideas on how to accomplish this?
    For example:
    Information               Subreport2
    Subreport1               Information
    Subreport2               Subreport1
    Information               Subreport2
    Subreport1
    When what I want is:
    Information               Information
    Subreport1               Subreport1
    Subreport2               Subreport2
    Information
    Subreport1
    Subreport2
    Or:
    Information               Information
    Subreport1               Subreport1
    Subreport2               Subreport2
                                     Information
                                     Subreport1
                                     Subreport2

  • Keep Together

    Hi ALL
Is there a way to force a group and the detail to Keep together i have tried playing with the Keep together options on a per section basis but find that i end up with the group header printed at the bottom of a page and the detail on the next without the group headings etc.
    Ay help would be appreciated.
    Cheers
    Phil

Use the Keep Together property in the options for the group - not the options for the Section.

  • Keep Together when we have two detail sections

    Hai,
I have two Detail Sections and when you look at the report data is split and is displayed in two pages. It should be  together. If we have single section then we use Keep Together option. I have tried with this option also.
    1st page end
    AAAA
    BBBB
    aaaa
    bbbbb
    2nd page start
    cccc
    dddd
Data should not split as above and it should displayed in any one of those pages.
    Thanks in advance,
    Regards,
    Chaithanya.

keep together is good for that section only. unless there is a parent section that you could turn keep together on,  i don't know of a way

  • Keep together detail and subreport

In my report I have a detail section that includes a subreport.  The data in the detail is patient info such as patient id, name, doctor, etc.  In the subreport are the diagnosis which could be 1 to many.  Is there a way to keep the detail and subreport together at the end of page?  Right now, when it gets to the end of the page it could show the patient info and perform a page break and show the diagnosis.  I have looked at the Section Expert for both parts and they both have u201CKeep Togetheru201D checked on.
    TIA!

    Hi Sastry,
Putting the New Page After option didn't do what I wanted.  BUT your comment
Keep together will try to keep two sections together in your report.
    got me thinking.
I added another detail line, put my subreport in that detail line then in the Section Expert, on the Detail section, I clicked on the Keep Together (I also clicked on the Keep Together on both the detail a and detail b section but I'm not sure it was needed). Works like a charm!!
Thanks for steering me in the right direction.

  • How to influence Page Break and Keep Together options

    Hello,
we are using Crystal Repost 13.1 and generate Reports via C# Code and ADO.NET Data.
    Now to the problem.
We generate Invoices that show the detail position in several Detail sections. After the Detailsections there are Reportfooter Sections for net and gross sums, VAT info, payment terms, delivery adresses and so forth.
My problem is now that I always want the three report footer sections that show the net sum, VAT and gross sum on one page. But the Keep together option can only be applied for the entire report footer. if that option is set, due to lots of other text following the sums, it all is shown on the following page, although on the first page there would be enough space to print the sections displaying the sums...
Hope I made myself somewhat clear. Does anyhone have a suggestion on how to handle this?
    Thanks in advance.

Merge the 3 report footers into one section and set it to keep together.

  • Keep Together - More than 1 Section

I would like to keep 2 sections together.  We have a rather large report and would like it so that our "section header" sections are kept together with our "section body" sections.  We programmatically perform operations based on whether our it's a header of a specific section or a body and that's why it's laid out as it is....how can I keep it so both sections appear on the same page (and if one needs to go on another page, both of them are kept together)?
    Thanks,Mythran

I don't think it's possible to find a solution for the problem I have.  I have a LOT of sections (right now, I'm at about 32 detail sections) and I just wanted to keep 2 sections within these 32 sections together....not all 32, just 2 of the 32 that are following each other...apart from merging the sections and then marking them as keep together, there is no way to ensure both sections are on the same page....unless someone has a solution, I just can't do it

  • Orphan control/keep together problem

Is there a tutorial on orphan control somewhere with some examples?
I have a report with all the keep together section expert stuff selected, but I still have one group of data that is moved on to another page sometimes, and it is driving me nuts.  Thanks!

Search the NOTES (kbases) for "keep group together" and/or "keep section together" and you'll find a nice article that spells out how each works and how they can affect each other.
If you can't find it - reply and I can look it up and paste it into a reply here.

  • How to keep together Title + table's line across pages

Hi all, I have a question.
I'm trying to create a .rtf template where I have a table with 4 lines and a title <PROJ_NAME>
I need to repeat this table (with all the necessary information - 4 lines) as many times as the projects' names are stored on the DB.
For example: if the employee has 4 projects, on the report I will see 4 times these table and the relative project name as title.
So, the repeating group mechanism works perfectly, but I am not able to control how the table's lines are splitted across pages....
In other words if I have two pages in my .rtf template and I am at the end of the first page:
    1) I don't want to see the title on the bottom of the first page and the relative table above on the second page (title and table splitted on two differents pages)
    2) I don't want to see the title and a portion of the table on the bottom of the first page and the rest of the table (1,2 or 3 lines) above on the second page (table splitted on two differents pages)
At the end I'd like to see always title and table together even if the page finishes. If the title + table exced the table's vertical border, it has not be splitted, but rewrite entirely (title + table) on the next page.
    The syntax is this:
    <?for-each-group:G_PROJ;./PROJ_NAME?><?PROJ_NAME?>
    TABLE WITH 4 LINES
    <?end for-each-group?>Page break
I tried also, reading the forum, to use the paragraph properties (Keep lines together), but nothing.....
Anyone can suggest me something ?
    Thanks in advance
    Alex

    After the for loop,
take a table (suppose A) with one row and one column. In that table insert the Project name tag. Below that tag, insert an inner table(suppose B) in table A with 4 rows and columns you wish. Now select the outer table A(select the whole table), and in the table properties/Row , in the options , uncheck the 'Allow row to break across pages' property.
    end the for loop.

  • How to Keep Lines / Tables rows together

    Hi All
I would like to know if Words functionality to
Keep lines together (Format - Paragraph - Line Page Breaks Tab - Keep Lines together tick box) is supported by XMLP.
Our particular requirement is to keep our table of 3 rows per record (wrapped in a for each) together over a page break, although I can see this option being useful for letters etc in the future.
    We are using XMLP 5.6.2
    Thanks
    Chris.

    Hi Vaurn
Note a bad idea thanks for that.
Unfortunately the first row in our table has 8 columns, the following 2 rows have just one column, this stops us from merging all three rows together.
Excuse my lack of knowledge but how do we mail files to you without disclosing our email address to whole world??
    Thanks
    Chris.

  • Pages 08 tables keep splitting themselves

I have just bought pages 08 so I may be being completely stupid. I am trying to create a schedule out of tables and it keeps splitting the tables up and reproducing one of them over again in the middle of the document and in all the wrong places.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
    Many thanks

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
In the search box type +tables AND split+. I think you will find the answers you need there. I'm sure you will enjoy using pages, but like anything new, it will take a little getting used to.

  • Any table keep track of Sales order and relevant IDOC

    hi all,
Do we have any table to keep track Sales order and its relevant IDOC in the system?
A list of sales order# given by user, from the list, we would like to find a faster way to get the corresponding IDOC.
    thanks.

    Hi Reetha,
EDIDS table would have the IDOC Number & sales order number. Parameter 2 is the field in EDIDS which would have the sales order number.
I understand that this table would have many records but i dont think any other table would have the above combination. If you get any other table, then pls. do update @ it on this thread.
    Thanks,
    Best regards,
    Prashant
