Tables not allowing inserting
Hi im new to all of this and so going at my own pace, i quite literate at sql for making tables and inserting data from a live website but i used a different product. The trouble i am having with this product is that when i log into either Admin or HR account when i build a table in SQL or even through the application area it displays my table but im unable to insert data into it through SQL as it says "cannot create a column here" even tho im inserting straight into the stated columns. Im just wondering if i have missed something in settings or i need to use a specified file path to point to where the data is saved.
Also im wondering if this produce will allow me to connect this database to my personal small website in which to hold login information and details to post to also?
Thanks for any help much appreciated.
What SQL are using to insert your data?
You should be using a statement similar to:
INSERT INTO <Table_Name> (<Column_1>, <Column_2>, ...) VALUES (<Value_1>, <Value_2>, ...);
Replacing the <> with appropriate values.

David

On any new Script I am writing Story will not allow me to insert any of the commands, no shot type, character, etc. When I right click the options are grayed out, and nothing happens when doing any of the hotkeys. My old scripts work but not my new ones. How can I fix this?
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Select "/var/log/install.log" from the file list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar. Then select the messages from the last installation or update attempt, starting from the time when you initiated it. If you're not sure when that was, start over and note the time. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting. -

Partitioned IOT of Object Type - mapping table not allowed for bitmap index
Hi,
looks like a feature available for standard Partitioned IOTs is not supported for object based tables, namely the MAPPING TABLE construct to support secondary local bitmap indexes.
Can you confirm behaviour is as expected/documented?
If so, is a fix/enhancement to support mapping table for object-based Partitioned IOTs in the pipeline?
Results for partition-wise load using pipelined table function are very good, look-ups across tens of millions of rows are excellent.

the intention is to range partition based on the initial character, so A* -> Text_Part_A, B* -> Text_Part_B, and so on.
Here's an example, using an empty IOTObj_Table as created previously.
1) Set up & confirm some test data (two 'D's, one 'N', and two 'Z's)
SQL> INSERT INTO IOTObj_Table VALUES (IOT_Type('DEF456',500));
SQL> INSERT INTO IOTObj_Table VALUES (IOT_Type('DDD111',510));
SQL> INSERT INTO IOTObj_Table VALUES (IOT_Type('N3000',515));
SQL> INSERT INTO IOTObj_Table VALUES (IOT_Type('ZZ1212',520));
SQL> INSERT INTO IOTObj_Table VALUES (IOT_Type('Z111X',530));
SQL> COMMIT;
SQL> SELECT * FROM IOTObj_Table;
TEXTDATA NUMBERDATA
DDD111 510
DEF456 500
N3000 515
Z111X 530
ZZ1212 520
2) Just to prove our IOT is enforcing the Primary Key based on the TextData attribute, try to insert a duplicate
SQL> INSERT INTO IOTObj_Table VALUES (IOT_Type('Z111X',530));
Error starting at line 141 in command:
INSERT INTO IOTObj_Table VALUES (IOT_Type('Z111X',530))
Error report:

3) Now confirm that our data has been slotted into the range-based partition we expect using the PARTITION clause of SELECT...
- The two 'D's...
SQL> SELECT * FROM IOTObj_Table PARTITION (Text_Part_D);
TEXTDATA NUMBERDATA
DDD111 510
DEF456 500
- The single 'N'...
SQL> SELECT * FROM IOTObj_Table PARTITION (Text_Part_N);
TEXTDATA NUMBERDATA
N3000 515
- The two 'Z's...
SQL> SELECT * FROM IOTObj_Table PARTITION (Text_Part_Z);
TEXTDATA NUMBERDATA
Z111X 530
ZZ1212 520
4) And to wrap up confirm an empty partition
SELECT * FROM IOTObj_Table PARTITION (Text_Part_W); -
XmlIndex on table not allowing delete or update
Hi
Oracle and slqplus versions:
Oracle Database 11g Release 11.2.0.2.0 - 64bit Production
PL/SQL Release 11.2.0.2.0 - Production
CORE 11.2.0.2.0 Production

I'm having a problem deleting and updating xml content in a table. The following code shows the problem I'm having.
Create a new test table and add an index:
create table test of XMLType xmltype store as binary XML;
CREATE INDEX test_xmlindex_ix ON test (OBJECT_VALUE) INDEXTYPE IS XDB.XMLIndex;add some xml content:
insert into test values (xmltype('<product_details id="10"></product_details>'));update the content:
UPDATE test SET OBJECT_VALUE = appendChildXML(OBJECT_VALUE, '/product_details', '<product id="20"><type></type><code></code></product>')
WHERE XMLEXISTS('/product_details[@id=10]' PASSING OBJECT_VALUE);Select the content to check all is as should be:
select * from test;
<product_details id="10">
<product id="20">
<type/>
<code/>
</product>
</product_details>Now delete the type node:
UPDATE test SET OBJECT_VALUE = deleteXML(OBJECT_VALUE, '/product_details/product[@id=20]/type')
WHERE XMLEXISTS('/product_details[@id=10]' PASSING OBJECT_VALUE);
1 row updated.Select the content to check all is as should be:
select * from test;
<product_details id="10">
<product id="20">
*<type/>*
<code/>
</product>
</product_details>Type node is still in the xml.
Now drop the XmlIndex that is on the table:
drop index test_xmlindex_ix;
Index dropped.Now try the delete again:
UPDATE test SET OBJECT_VALUE = deleteXML(OBJECT_VALUE, '/product_details/product[@id=20]/type')
WHERE XMLEXISTS('/product_details[@id=10]' PASSING OBJECT_VALUE);
1 row updated.
select * from test;The type node has been deleted.
<product_details id="10">
<product id="20">
<code/>
</product>
</product_details>Can anyone help with this problem as I need to have XmlIndexes on my tables and be able to update and delete content?
Cheers

Character palette does not allow insert
In the character palette, I can select every glyph. I can examine every character, Roman or not. However, the Insert button is always grayed out. This appears to be application-independent. It worked fine in 10.4.3.
I'm sure there is some plist file I must delete, but I'm not sure which one. Any ideas?I have reinstalled two of
the applications in which this happens, to no avail.
If it is application-specific, that would have taken
care of it.
Not necessarily. I think there are some apps, including AppleWorks, that it just does not work with now, so you have to use the keyboard for special characters (or a replacement like PopChar). I doubt reinstalling the OS is going to fix these app specific issues. -
Imac optical drive will not allow disc insertion. (blocked)
Hello out there.
I have a 2009 27" imac (intel) with an optiarc disc drive. After installing an update a year or so ago, the disc drive started making cycling type noises at startup, and would occasionally not allow insertion of a disc. Then it would accept a disc only rarely, and recently not at all. The disc will only go in about a third of the way, then is physically blocked.
I want to run the Apple hardware test on my startup disc, but that's obviously a problem since I can't insert it.
If anyone can offer guidence, it would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks, jakeonbellIt may be broken or you might just need to do a PRAM reset 2-3 times. Instructions for the reset are in Intel iMac SMC and PRAM resets

Constraint on a Date Column to Not Allow Setting Weekend Dates
We are utilizing SQL Server 2008 R2 for scheduling AD user migrations. We keep track of all user accounts to be migrated and have a column for Migration_DATE with data type "Date".
I am looking to add a constraint to the Migration_DATE column to not allow scheduling dates on weekends. In other words I don't want anyone setting dates that fall on the weekend or a list of dates on a table. Can anyone help me with how to do this
or point me in the right direction.
Thanks much!Hello,
Based on your description, you had a table which used for track AD user migration. And you wan to alter the date column "Migration_DATE" to not allow insert weekend date. If I understanding correctly, you can add a constraint to check the insert values.
ALTER TABLE teble_name ADD constraint ck_Migration_date
CHECK (DATENAME(WEEKDAY,Migration_DATE) NOT IN ('Saturday','Sunday'))

Hi,
I have a table with many LONG fields (28). So far, everythings works fine.
However, if I add another LONG field I cannot insert a dataset anymore
(29 LONG fields).
Does there exist a MaxDB parameter or anything else I can change to make inserts possible again?
Thanks in advance

It solves my problem. Thanks a lot. -- I hardly can believe that this is all needed to solve the bug. This may be the reason why I have not given it a try.

Since explicitely specifying all values for an insert is a good idea anyhow (you can see directly, what value the new tupel will have), you may want to change your code to this.

You are right. This table looks a bit strange. The story behind it is: Each crystal report in the application has a few textblocks which are the same for all the e.g. persons the e.g. letter is created for. Principally, the textblocks could be directy added to the crystal report. However, as it is often the case, these textblocks may change once in a while. Thus, I put the texts of the textblock into this "strange" db table (one row for each report, one field for each textblock, the name of the report is given by "ztb_nameofreport"). And the application offers a menue by which these textblocks can be changed. Of course, the fields in the table could be of type CHAR, but LONG has the advantage that I do not have to think about the length of the field, since sometime the texts are short and sometimes they are really long.
(These texts would blow up the sql select command of the crystal report very much if they were integrated into the this select command. Thus it is realized in another way: the texts are read before the crystal report is loaded, then the texts are "given" to the crystal report (by its parameters), and finally the crystal report is loaded.)

The customer still has Win98 clients. MaxDB odbc driver 7.5.00.26 does not work for them. I got the hint to use odbc driver 7.3 (see [lists.mysql.com/maxdb/25667|lists.mysql.com/maxdb/25667]). Do MaxDB 7.6 and odbc driver 7.3 work together?
All Win98 clients may be replaced by WinXP clients in the near future. Then, an upgrade may be reasonable.

In the first MaxDB version I used, schemas were not available. I haven't changed it afterwards. Is there an easy way to "move an existing table into a new schema"?

Commit not allowed in Trigger then how to store the values in table
Hi,
Database trigger not allowed to COMMIT in it (directly) or in procedure which is calling from the Trigger. it gives error.
so my question is:-
1)How Database internally store the INSERT AND UPDATE value in table which is written in procedure without COMMIT?
2) Is it necessary to write COMMIT in procedure using PRAGAMA AUTONOMOUS TRANSACTION to store inserted or updated value in table?
Thanks in advance.Hi,
A trigger is designed to be a part of a transaction, not it's end.
It is like following these steps (not really accurate, but should give an idea):
1. programA issues INSERT statement on tableA
2. 'control' goes over to the database
3. constraint checks happen
4. the associated triggers on tableA do their work (e.g. fetching a sequence value for a primary key)
5. 'control' goes back to programA
6. programA decides if a commit (no error occurred) or a rollback (error case) has to be issued.
Did this help? Probably not, I'm not happy with what I wrote, but anyway... :) -

ORA-06550: líne 2, column 1:
PL/SQL: Statement ignoredwhat could I do to resove the problem??
Thanks in advance...Hi,
Your procedure's signature is
CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE DWARE.P_CSCV_AGR_MONTH_REVENUE
TBL_NAME VARCHAR2,
START_DATE DATE,
RESULT_ OUT NUMBER
) i.e. it is expecting two input parameters, TBL_NAME in VARCHAR2 format and the other START_DATE in DATE format. Also you need a variable with data type as NUMBER to hold the value of OUT parameter RESULT_
Now look at the way you are calling this procedure
BEGIN
DWARE.P_CSCV_AGR_MONTH_REVENUE(CSCV_AGR_MONTH_REVENUE,'01/01/2010');
END;
/first parameter has to be a VARCHAR2, so enclose CSCV_AGR_MONTH_REVENUE into single quotes.
second parameter should be a date, so use to_date() function.
Lastly declare a variable with data type as Number for holding value of out parameter RESULT_
Something like this :
declare
t_num number;
begin
a('CSCV_AGR_MONTH_REVENUE',to_date('01/01/2010','MM/DD/YYYY'),t_num);
dbms_output.put_line(t_num);

My Email-id is : [email protected]What are p and d in
"{call Allsch("+p+","+d+")}"
Something tells me you might need some quotes in this statement since they are varchar2. Maybe
"{call Allsch('"+p+"','"+d+"')}"
If this doesn't work try to cut off parts of the procedure until it works.

When i try to download an update from the appstore the dropdown menju automatically inserts my apple id (which is wrong). It's in gray and will not allow me to type in the correct id. How do i stop the auto insert so that i can enter the correct id?
the original apple id was entered incorrectly. Apple says it must be a email address. My email address is correct but the letter ( t ) somehow got added to the (.com) so that when i try to enter my id it is automaticly loaded with the email address the ends ( .comt ) . According to Apple this is not a "legal" email id. But it appears on my dropdown in gray and i cannot alter it or delete it, thus preventing me from downloading software updates.
