Tablet for Photomatix and Photoshop CC

Tried to search for this topic, but didnt see anything that outlined what im looking so sorry if this has already been discussed.
Im looking to purchase windows 8 tablet specifically to use with my cam ranger(for my DSLR) and I also want it to be able to run Photomatix as well as adobe photoshop CC.
I have been searching and comparing system requirements and it seems like there are a few affordable models that will do that. However Im just not sure how well it will run and what the experience is like. If anyone could offer some insight that would be great!
Also... trying to keep my budget under $600

    What exactly means "refuses"?
This is the message which comes up if I try to update (from the Help menu) or re-install my licenced copies of CS6 or Photoshop Elements 9.
    “We've encountered the following issues
Installer failed to initialize. Please download Adobe Support Advisor to detect the problem”
    Get Adobe Support Advisor”
    OR
on trying to open PhotoshopCS6 I get this message:-
“Adobe Application Manager required to start your trial, is missing or damaged.
Please download a new copy of Adobe Application Manager from http://www.adobe.com/go/applicationmanager_uk”
When I follow these instructions and try and start up/install or update Photoshop CS6 I get the same messages all over again. This has been going on since Tuesday afternoon and I am anxiuous to resolve the problem. For several years now all this has worked perfectly through your website and I cannot understand what has changed.  Once I cancel these messages the products themselves seem to function OK. When I attempt to use Adobe Update Manager I get the same messages as above. You will see that my products are properly licensed and up to date. Have you any solution?

  • Payment made for lightroom and photoshop joint package, still prompted for serial number

payment made for lightroom and photoshop joint package, still prompted for serial number which I have not been given. what do i do next?

    Hi ,
I think you have downloaded the program directly from adobe. As you have the Photography plan, then you have to download this from Creative Cloud Desktop then they will be activated through with your email address. Then it will not ask for serial number.

  • Question.   CC for Lightroom and Photoshop and, in say 5 years or so, become inactive.

What access would I have to my photos if I sign up for CC for Lightroom and Photoshop and then become only an occasional user.  Will I still be able to find my photos using Lightroom?  Will I be able to search for photos using keywords?  Will I be able to see metadata?
    Thanks.

Cannot install latest updates for Bridge and Photoshop CC. I get the following message: "Update Failed. The download appears corrupted.  U43M1D207."
I have tried to install at different times over three different days with the same result each time. My version of Bridge now no longer shows DNG files except as an icon. The update is supposed to install Camera Raw version 9.

I had the 204 version of your error using the direct download links proved on this thread solved my problem.. hope you have same success... had to log off/in cloud manager before it showed all apps updated

  • I have so called photo subscription for lightroom and photoshop. How can I get new version of lightroom?

I have a 9.99 subscription for lightroom and photoshop. I only use lightroom and would like to try new version 6, which I think I should be eligible under subscription plan. I can't figure out how to upgrade my existing copy. Creative Cloud doesn't offer this option.

    Hi Zeljko Dakic,
Kindly try the below mentioned link.

  • I7 3770K Ivy Bridge Vs. i7-3930K Sandy Bridge for Lightroom and Photoshop

Hello, I have learned so much from this forum and have a question for everyone. I am working on a custom computer build but I am not sure about the CPU. I was planning on an i7-3930K (3.2 GHz 12Mb Cache) Sandy Bridge with an ASUS P9X79 but after more research I am also considering an i7-3770K (3.5 GHz 8mb Cache) Ivy Bridge with an undetermined mobo. The 3930 has 6 cores and more cache but is a slower chip compared to the 3770K. I have read some articles that Lightroom prefers a faster chip and that the extra cores may not be of great benefit.
We primarily use Photoshop and Lightroom for image editing and do not do any video editing. We really do more work in Lightroom than Photoshop so designing the system for it would give us the most benefit. Our primary use of photoshop is batching if that helps with our usage of the system.
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Also feel free to tell me I am over analyzing this and either chip would work great
    Thanks in advance,
    Jonathan

    Jonathan,
For Lightroom and Photoshop the i7-3770K will do fine. It also is much more affordable than a i7-3930K on  2011 platform, but at the same time much more limited for the future, because of the limited PCI-e lanes on the 1155 platform. The Ivy Bridge has another distinct disadvantage, the Intel supplied thermal paste is lousy, so it runs very, very hot.
In another place, http://ppbm7.com/index.php/cooling?showall=&start=4 I said:
Warning: If you are considering a much better affordable system, based on the Ivy Bridge processor, be warned that the cooling paste Intel uses on the Ivy Bridge is no good, especially when overclocking. At stock speed the i7-3770K runs 11 degrees hotter than with Liquid Ultra cooling paste and at 4.6GHz even 20 degrees centigrade. However if you change the cooling paste, you also void the warranty.
To summarize: the 2011 platform has a better perspective for the future but at a price.

  • Cs6: All the apps seem to be working fine, except for Illustrator and Photoshop

I just purchased and installed CS6. All the apps seem to be working fine, except for Illustrator and Photoshop. Why would that happen?  I'm a freelancer and I have jobs to finish... can anyone help with this?

what's the problem with ps and ai?

  • Which macbook pro for lightroom and photoshop

Have my eye on the two 15" models. One with Intel iris pro graphics, the other that also has the nvidia gt 750m. Maybe I'm making mountains from molehills. You can tell me if you think that's the case
I will use my laptop at home always attached to a large screen. It's what I do with my current, April 2008 macbook pro. Right now a 25" NEC. I may add an additional screen as well, so I might have two screens besides the laptop, one attached via hdmi.
Right now I don't do video work. No gaming concerns for me. Photoshop and Lightroom the bulk of my work. 70,000 image Lr catalog. Large size photoshop files. Well near 1 gb sometimes with several layers.
If I buy the mbp with just the intel iris pro graphics card I'm thinking to upgrade processor to 2.5ghz. Will also upgrade ssd to 500gb. Or do I need, will I benefit from the nvidia card and card switching, dgpu?
I've just been reading about problems with the discrete graphics card version. Problems with freezing video, some with problems looking at certain websites via a browser firefox or safari. I wonder if that's only with older versions of the mbp.
And that the mbp with the dgpu, the nvidia gt 750m always uses that card when there is an external monitor attached. Creates additional heat for the computer.
Just looking for some advice before i hand over the cash. There is only a 100 difference in price so in the end I'm not concerned about cost. Just want a computer to do what I need, do it well, and for me to have as few problems as possible. I do like to keep my computers a long time. This current mbp is seven years old in a month. The computer I had before that, a G4, lasted me eight years.
    thanks for advice...

The 2.6 Haswell i7 processor should be just fine - you really don't need the faster processors. Since Lightroom caches so much, though, it would be nice to keep most of that in RAM - much faster than writing/reading to a flash storage device - so I would recommend 16GB of RAM as you cannot ever upgrade the RAM on your own (or even through Apple).
You should be able to do anything on your MacBook Pro as on your iMac - albeit on a smaller screen!

  • 4 questions on export/importing graphics for Web and Photoshop.

Hi, I have 4 questions here, and if you can answer one or more, I'd be happy!! :-)
    1. In general, can there be a loss of quality when I export a file from Illustrator CS3 to Photoshop CS3, and then re-import it into Illustrator?
My guess is that you can switch applications with one single file, but you have to know what you're doing (any advise? I'm working with files that contain both text with either illustrated graphics or photos).
    2. When I switch applications like that, which one is the final application I should save my final work from (for use in print and web)? Does this matter at all? (Example: I have text created in Illustrator. I export it into Photoshop and add a filter, and maybe a blured-layer of the the whole graphic.)
    3. After completing the steps in the example above, and I do re-import it all back into Illustrator, the image appears with horizontal path-like blue lines, that let me slice the photo/text if I wanted to. Why does it do this and how do I get rid of those blue lines?
    4. When exporting a file for web, what options are you setting for .gif and .jpg in order to NOT see its white background/frame around graphic?

    1. Yes. The artwork will be rasterized to a fixed resolution in Photoshop. When re-imported it may appear the same, but it will have limited resolution on output, whereas Illustrator vector art has no (or infinite) resolution.
    2. Depends on the artwork and what the client or printer has requested. If you can keep the text editable in Illustrator (blur and some Photoshop filters are available) then you'll have a more versatile and resolution independent file than you would if you switched to Photoshop. In the end, if the resolution of you art is adequate, it's up to you which is better for you to work with, based on your skills and experience. Keep all working files so you can make changes to artwork imported from one program into another.
Some features you might enjoy: You can place Illustrator files into Photoshop and make them Smart Objects. They remember they are Illustrator files and can be edited in Illustrator at any time. Rotate, scale, or distort the artwork in Photoshop and it is re-rendered a the PSD file's native resolution. In CS3 you can add filters to Smart Objects while keeping the vector data intact.
    3. I have read about this, but as I'm not fully up on CS3 and don't have it installed on my main system I can't help.
    4. To not see a white background for JPEG use a different matte colour. JPEGs cannot be transparent, so some colour must show where you want transparency. for GIF, the same applies, but you can turn on transparency. The artwork will be transparent, but the matte colour will determine how the anti-aliased edges are rendered. Use a matte colour that's as close to your expected background as possible or choose None. PNG 24 supports 8-bit transparency, which looks best of all, but is not supported by MS Internet Explorer versions 6 or lower.

  • Performance upgrade for Lightroom and Photoshop on a MacPro Quad Xeon

I have a MacPro Quad Xeon 2.26(on OSX 10.5.8) with an internal 1tb RAID 0 for a PS scratch. It has 8gb of RAM and I run my apps off the main (boot) drive. My LR cache resides on this boot drive as well. I have dual ACD 23's each running off a GeForce GT 120.
I'm looking for opinions and options to make my life faster.
    1. upgrade to 10.6?
    2. RAM up to 16gb?
    3. OWC Mercury Pro SSD 115gb for my boot and a second for my user files?
I have been reading Diglloyd's stuff but I'm looking for other opinions on cheap speed.
    thanks in advance
    R

Have you ever cracked open activity monitor? Unless your CPU's regularly peak out, they aren't your weak link.
Congratulations - they are also the most expensive to replace since you basically have to buy a new computer! I'd start with the hard drives - absolutely the slowest link in any modern computer. Start off with an SSD for the system/Applications. Then try moving files you are working on to the SSD to see if that makes a difference as well. I don't know about LightRoom, but with Aperture, once the database files in the Aperture library fragment it's performance drops off dramatically. Changing my Aperture library to be on an SSD and referencing my masters on my internal RAID made a dramatic difference. It feels like I have a new computer!
If you have lots of scratch activity you could be low on memory. Or you could be dealing with photoshop wonkiness like this:
    http://macperformanceguide.com/OptimizingPhotoshopCS5-Warmup.html
Throwing hardware at software coding errors like the above won't get you anywhere.
Start with activity monitor. If you aren't routinely maxing out your CPU's focus on disk drives and then memory.
