Tablet trade-in denied for surface pro 3

I tried to trade in a Compac TC1100 today (between 3:15 and 3:45) at the Ankeny Iowa location.  Was unable to get the associate to use the trade-in button.  Just kept getting told it isn't in the system.

Hello, tedpeer, and welcome to the forum!
Receiving $200.00 for simply trading in a qualifying tablet is certainly an offer many would love to take advantage of, especially if you were already in the market for a newer model. From my understanding, our Surface Pro 3 trade-in offer should be able to accommodate tablets outside our trade-in system by using a recycling option in our system to ensure you properly receive the coupon and gift card we are offering.  Having said this, your tablet must have met all the following requirements in order to qualify.
·         The device must be able to power on to be considered working
·         It cannot have water damage or a cracked screen
·         The device’s warranty seal must be intact
·         The device cannot be a Boogie Board or e-Reader
Please know I’ll be reaching out to our leadership team in place at our Ankeny location to ensure we are following the necessary steps to assist our customers looking to take advantage of this promotion. If you feel that your tablet was incorrectly denied, please visit the same store by 4/18/2015 to receive assistance from a manager, as they are in the best position to address this issue.

  • Tablet Trade In Denied For Not Buying Samsung Tablet at the Same Time

They were going to process my tablet (not in system, so it will be processed as a recycle), but told me to go get the Samsung tablet so they can process everything together. When I said I don't need to buy that tablet now, they insisted that it only works if I buy the tablet. They refused to continue with the trade in even though they were right at the screen that accepts the promo on their computer. Please contact Best Buy store 117 in Cerritos.

    Hello waitforit,
I would be confused in that situation. Especially, considering it sounds as though this isn’t your first time trading in a product with Best Buy. I am sorry you were unable to trade in your tablet at the Cerritos, CA store due to this confusion.
You may use the $50 coupon toward the purchase of the Samsung Galaxy S tablet, but you are not required to do so at that time, or at all. The coupon should expire on 9/13/2014 if it goes unused. Additionally, you should be able to use the Best Buy gift card ($50 minimum) at any time. The store associate should have known this; although it sounds like there might be some confusion on this process. Your tablet must also meet the rest of the criteria of this promotion to receive those benefits; click here to find the full terms of this offer.
I have already sent an email to the store leadership at the Cerritos, CA location to provide them with the necessary information on how to process this trade-in. I recommend heading back to the store and asking for a manager to assist you in receiving this promotion. Feel free to reach back out if you have any additional questions or concerns on this matter.

  • Tablet trade-in denied (Store 335)

I have two tablets which should qualify for the 50$ trade-in promo - Dell Streak 7 , and Amazon Fire 1st gen. I went to store #335, Louisville, KY and was denied since I do not have any accessories for those tablets, even though they both powered on and CSR (Michelle) was able to get its serial numbers. I politely referred to the promo that stated that any working tablet was eligible for the $50 trade-in, and was told the store manager Tim (removed per forum guidelines) has denied the trade-in.
Would it still be possible to trade-in this device with some assistance?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hello alec_bl,
I'm disappointed to read that you ran into a roadblock at our Louisville, KY store when attempting to take advantage of our Trade Up to the New Fire HD promotion. Certainly this is not the experience that we wished you to have and I apologize for any inconvenience you've incurred.
As long as your tablet meets the minimum requirements of the promotion, then you should be able to qualify for the trade-n. There is a process in place to ensure customers are still able to receive the offer. Those minimum requirements are:
    -          The device must be able to power on
    -          Must have a valid serial number
    -          Cannot have a cracked screen
    -          Cannot have any liquid damage
    -          The device cannot be a Barnes & Noble Nook or other eReader
I have sent instructions to your local store's leadership team for processing your trade-in, so I invite you to return to the store and speak to the manager to complete your transaction. Please let me know how your visit goes.
Once again, I truly am sorry for any disappointment this has caused.

  • Scaling support for surface pro 3

I'm running the latest version of Windows 8.1 and the latest version of iTunes 12 for Windows. I was hoping with the update, scaling support would be included for high DPI devices like the Surface Pro 3. I was in the Apple store and the retina macbook pros are fine, so they obviously have the technology available to support it. I talked to an employee, and they said wait for iTunes 12 to come out, and it hasn't fixed anything. High DPI displays are still not supported, and I am getting quite angry and impatient. I prefer Windows for my desktop experience, and it seems like Apple is alienating Windows users here. I am going to start looking for alternatives to iTunes in the meantime. Can someone help me out? I know I can disable scaling under properties, but this just makes everything very small, and is very annoying,

The College Student Deals is an awesome promotion, and its awesomeness is matched by the Surface Pro 3! I apologize if you have been unable to take advantage of this offer due to not receiving any coupon codes to your .edu email address with which you registered.

  • W NYACK NY (Store 455) tablet trade in denied

Hello. I brought my tablet(latte tab2) for your trade-in during the previous promotion, but the store associate denied it because it wasn't in their system. The promotion should accept ANY of the working tablet(except Nook)
On Sept 8th I contacted Best Buy Customer Care <[email protected]> and Customer Care contacted the store 4 times and 3 weeks later on Sept 28th the manager Michael replied and said the store customer associates told him they can't recycle if it's not found in system.
On Sept 29th Jel from Best Buy Customer Care said stores can have additional limitations but in this situation the store is limiting this to only tablets sold by bestbuy (found in the system)
The last promotion ended 4 weeks ago, and the store responded to my complaint only 7 days ago refussing to accept tablets not found in system. Will I be able to particiate in this promotion this time?
Please can you find out are they excluding all the models not found in system because they do not understand the promotion?
Store: W NYACK NY (Store 455)
    Thank you

    Hello fztime,
I apologize if your previous trade-in experience has led you to check in with us before making a trip to the West Nyack store in New York. Also you should not have needed to wait that long to get a response; I am sorry this was the case. I would be happy to shed some light on this promotion for you!
The store needs to approve your tablets based on the terms of this promotion (not a Barnes and Noble Nook or an eReader, must power on, no cracked screen or water damage) before you can receive this promotion. It’s true. Some stores may have some limitations or additional requirements for their trade-in process; however, your previous experience with the store still seems a bit strange to me. Regardless of whether or not your tablet can be found in our system, our trade-in promotion we are offering should allow for you to trade-in your tablet. That should be the same at all of our locations that are able to process trade-ins.
I have reached out to the leadership at the West Nyack location about your last visit, and in regards to our current offer. When I receive a response, I will touch base with you here.
    Thanks for reaching out,

  • Tablet trade-in denied (Store 873)

I have an HP Touchpad for the 50$ trade-in promo which store 873 found to be $0.00 trade-in value. I politely referred to the promo that stated that any working tablet was eligible for the $50 trade-in, but was still denied.

    Hi there dagle,
Welcome to the forum! It’s fantastic to hear you are interested in participating in our Trade up to the New Fire HD promotion. I’m sorry to hear that there may have been some confusion surrounding how to fulfill this promotion for you when you brought in your HP Touchpad.
With a qualifying tablet, we should be have a means of fulfilling this promotion, regardless of whether the unit’s trade-in value is less than $50 or if it is not found in the trade-in system. That being said, I’ve reached out to the Colma, CA store leadership to share the details of this promotion with them so that they have the knowledge to fulfill this promotion.
I would encourage you to visit the store before the promotion ends tomorrow, and request assistance from a manager. If you should have any issues, please do not hesitate to reach out to us right away!

  • Tablet not accepted for trade in surface pro 3 150 coupon

Hi I have a proscan tablet model plt4311. Is it applicable for trade in or not. The store at best buy waterfront Pittsburgh says they cannot accept it. As far as I know the best buy policy says any working tablet will work. Please reply

    Hello Mohitpharma,
Thank you for reaching out to us regarding your trade-in! I'm sorry to hear you may have had trouble with trading in a Proscan tablet under our trade-in offer to trade up to the Surface Pro 3. Provided your tablet meets the working qualifications, it should have qualified for this promotion.
We trust that our stores are kept up-to-date and are knowledgeable in how to process qualifying tablets under such promotions. Sadly, it seems that this promotion ended yesterday, 4/18/15. With that said, as I see you were inquiring about combining three coupons in another post (Movers Coupon, College Student Deals coupon, and the $150 coupon from the Surface Pro 3 trade-in offer), which you will see I've merged with this post. Was this a proactive inquiry, or were you able to successfully trade in your Proscan tablet?

  • Using Bitlocker Data Recovery Agent (DRA) on Surface Pro 3

We currently have the Data Recovery Agent (DRA) configured in our Bitlocker Policy for our Windows 7 Systems, and it works fine. In situations where the Recovery Key for the computer object was not backed up to AD correctly for whatever reason or the computer
object was deleted, our HelpDesk can connect the encrypted drive to another system, and then use the certificate for the DRA to unlock the drive.
I'm wondering if the BitLocker DRA Certificate unlock method will work for Surface Pro 3 devices, in the case that that their computer object and normal BitLocker recovery key is deleted or missing in AD for whatever reason. Seeing as how our helpdesk can't
easily remove the internal HD from a Surface Pro 3 (I think only MS can do this?), I'm wondering if this BitLocker recovery option is still an option for Surface Pro 3's and if it is not then if there is another recommended option for Surface Pro 3's and/or
other Windows 8.1 Tablets used in an enterprise environment.

Could anyone help me to figure this out? Thanks.
Seems that the problem lies in libinput. Maybe you can report that upstream. I suggest you recompile libinput with debug info and do not strip the binaries to obtain better backtraces.
    Edit:
I have also tried running `swc-launch -- velox`, and get the following error:
    Running on /dev/tty2
velox: error while loading shared libraries: libinput.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
    Server exited with status 127
    Restoring VT to original state
So, perhaps I am having some libinput trouble. Does this seem correct?
Well, that's a different problem. libinput has several soname bumps because of API and ABI incompatibility. You have to rebuild swc against the newest libinput. (Although I'm not sure if swc developer updated the code to new API)
    Edit 2:
Just to tack this on here for `gnome-session --session=gnome-wayland --debug`
I'm not expert on this, it may be related to libinput problem. If you don't include GDK_BACKEND=wayland environment variable when launching gnome-wayland.

  • Bitlocker TPM + PIN on MS Surface Pro 3 using MDT

We are new to MDT 2012 and are trying to create a task sequence for Surface Pro 3 Tablets. Everything is going OK apart from Bitlocker. We are required to enable TPM + PIN (yes I've read the articles saying PIN isn't necessary on tablets, but security
have decided they still want it). To get TPM + PIN working there are a couple of GP settings required - enabling TPM + PIN and enabling pre-boot keyboards on slates.
To apply these settings we would normally have to join the domain and put the tablet in the correct OU for that Policy, which requires a restart. However once Policy is applying the restart now forces the corporate data warning message and so doesn't continue
with the sequence. the only solution I can see is to insert the registry settings for these policy settings into the Task Sequence and not do the restart until the end of the sequence. However this seems very messy and could potentially cause maintenance issues
further down the line if anything needs changing.
Does anyone have any solutions to this?

What we had to do was create a deployment OU that blocked pretty much all the domain GP.  Then at the end of the TS we would move machine to its proper OU.

  • Surface Pro 3 Type Cover Scrolling Behavior

I asked the same question in the surface comminity forum, and the support engineer suggested that I relay my question here.
I've just purchased a surface pro 3 with type cover. It's a great machine and I use it for web developement projects on the go. A major part of the stack I use has to be run in linux, so I run a virtual machine with ubuntu server. I use putty to ssh into
the vm, and rely on vim for code editing. On my previous machine I was able to get mouse scrolling support working in vim, as the events are relayed over by putty. This works even with 2 finger scrolling on trackpads of various sorts. However, this does not
work on the type cover for surface pro 3.
After some observations, I realized that the 2 finger scrolling on type cover's trackpad would trigger a screen scrolling animation when the scrollbars hit the end points, a behavior similar to scrolling via the touch screen. So I am guessing that instead
of using the traditional mouse wheel events, the new trackpad uses screen scrolling events? Which explains why putty couldn't relay the scrolling to vim.
I am wonder if this behavior can be optional or not. Perhaps a configuration somewhere would allow me to make the trackpad fire the usual mouse wheel like scrolling events so that my putty + vim combination could still benefit from the trackpad?

  • Surface Pro MDT Install

Have been struggling for a while to get a Surface Pro 3 to install using MDT, PXE boots OK but installation ends with an error relating to the unattend.xml file.  Looking at the setuperr log on the device the error is described thus:
2015-03-05 07:53:52, Error                        [setup.exe] SMI data results dump: Source = Name: Microsoft-Windows-Shell-Setup, Language:
neutral, ProcessorArchitecture: amd64, PublicKeyToken: 31bf3856ad364e35, VersionScope: nonSxS, /settings/ComputerName
2015-03-05 07:53:52, Error                        [setup.exe] SMI data results dump: Description = Value is invalid.
Eventually worked out that this is related to the length of the serial number on the Surface Pro 3, we use the serial number in MDT to create the Computername.  as this must be 15 characters or less the use of the Surface Pro 3 serial number breaks
this rule when we use our custom computername string WSERC%SerialNumber%, this had worked for ages as we've only installed Dell machines with a 6 digit service tag as the serial number.
Fixed this using the following string WSERC#right("%SerialNumber%",10)#
Surface Pro 3 now installs OK with MDT.

    Hi,
Have you follow that guide to check key points?
When you add the driver under Out-Of-Box Drivers for Surface pro, note the last folder must be called “Surface Pro”. If it's for Surface pro 2. it should be the "Surface Pro 2" folder name.   If your Out-Of-Box drivers contain drivers
for other systems and you do not use one of the options in that guide. Then you cannot control what drivers get used during the deployment. This can lead to problems so we would recommend you use Selection Profiles or other methods to ensure only the drivers
designed for the Surface are used during the deployment.
For additional reading on this topic I encourage you to take a look at

  • Surface Pro 3 with MDT deployed 8.1 Enterprise integrated Update 1 missing power button?

I am building / deploying an image for Surface Pro 3. Out of the box the Surface Pro 3 has the power button on start screen next to search button. However when I deploy 8.1U1 Ent the button disappears. Reading
http://winsupersite.com/windows-8/windows-81-update-1-tip-toggle-power-button it appears depending on if the Surface Pro 3 is defined as Slate or Ultrabook it might or might not default to power button being on. Is this expected behavior, anyone else see
    this?

    Luckily I found

  • Denied my working tablet for the surface pro 3 $50 GC and 150 coupon

I looked around the forum and I see people have traded in tablet even though they weren't able to find it on database. I have the azpen android tablet and it works has no scratches or damages. They said because it wasn't in the database they weren't able to do the surface pro 3 trade in promotion for the 50 gc and 150 coupon towards the SP3. I went into two stores and they said the same thing. So what is the deal? The two stores were:

    and
    GATEWAY BROOKLYN NY (Store 1886)

    Hello mrso,
The Surface Pro 3 trade-in is a spectacular promotion and I'm sure you were looking forward to receiving a $50 Best Buy gift card and $150 coupon towards the new Surface Pro 3!
As it appears this trade-in promotion has worked like our previous ones, you should be able to trade-in a qualifying tablet even if it isn't in our database via the recycling option we should have available to us. I am terribly sorry if our Rego Park, NY store and Gateway Brooklyn, NY stores were unaware of this ability.
Our stores should have received communications to provide them with the necessary knowledge to appropriately fulfill this promotion. Please know that I've also reached out to each to ensure they are following the appropriate fulfillment methods for this trade-in, and I would encourage you to return to one of the stores and request assistance with fulfilling this promotion from a manager.
Please let me know if you continue to have trouble!
