Tabs refreshing by themselves when switching between apps

Sometimes when I switch between Firefox another app, when I come back to Firefox all my tabs refresh even though I did not close Firefox. How to prevent?

hello jlamoure, i think this might be due to the memory management of your operating system. resources might be moved away from the applications running in the background when they are needed elsewhere, so that may be why firefox is reloading the tabs once you come back...

I have had a similar problem with my system. I just recently (within a week of this post) built a brand new desktop. I installed Windows 7 64-bit Home and had a clean install, no problems. Using IE downloaded an anti-virus program, and then, because it was the latest version, downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. As I began to search the internet for other programs to install after about maybe 10-15 minutes my computer crashes. Blank screen (yet monitor was still receiving a signal from computer) and completely frozen (couldn't even change the caps and num lock on keyboard). I thought I perhaps forgot to reboot after an update so I did a manual reboot and it started up fine.
When ever I got on the internet (still using firefox) it would crash after anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Since I've had good experience with FF in the past I thought it must be either the drivers or a hardware problem. So in-between crashes I updated all the drivers. Still had the same problem. Took the computer to a friend who knows more about computers than I do, made sure all the drivers were updated, same problem. We thought that it might be a hardware problem (bad video card, chipset, overheating issues, etc.), but after my friend played around with my computer for a day he found that when he didn't start FF at all it worked fine, even after watching a movie, or going through a playlist on Youtube.
At the time of this posting I'm going to try to uninstall FF 4.0 and download and install FF 3.6.16 which is currently on my laptop and works like a dream. Hopefully that will do the trick, because I love using FF and would hate to have to switch to another browser. Hopefully Mozilla will work out the kinks with FF 4 so I can continue to use it.
I apologize for the lengthy post. Any feedback would be appreciated, but is not necessary. I will try and post back after I try FF 3.16.6.

CC aplications go to white screen and lock up the computer when switching between apps

We have been successfully using CC for several months, then about 30 days ago suddenly when we tried to switch apps between dreamweaver, and Photoshop the computer went to a White screen and froze. This problem is completely repeatable, and we are at a complete loss to correct the problem. Any ideas? It doesnt do this when you switch withing Bridge and Photoshop, but with anythign else,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, CRASH!!

I am unable to get into the chat. I tried explorer and chrome and neither will allow us to access the chat. It continues to go around and around.

How do I stop Firefox mobile from having to restart when switching between apps?

When I'm switching between apps, firefox takes 10 seconds to load up again. Why isn't it already loaded since I just had it up? The Opera browser doesn't do that.

Android automatically closes apps in the background when it needs more memory. To let Firefox run in the background longer, we will need to reduce its memory usage. We are continuing to work on this with each new version of Firefox.

My iPhone 4's iPod starts playing when I switch between apps, it goes on and off

Not sure if this is the deal or not, when I click on my ipod app it's playing a song, I can't here any music but the pause button is showing, is it playing and running down the battery.. BTW I never seem to have earphones around to see if it's playing, however I have sync in my car and it is playing when I switch to aux..

About:config settings change by themselves when switching between windows/linux on dual-boot machine with profile shared between OSs

I dual-boot ubuntu and windows7, and have set up firefox to use the same profile data when running under either OS. This works great, except:
(1) each time I switch OSs and start firefox, it runs the "checking add-on compatibility" test (which is a minor annoyance)
(2) each time I start firefox in ubuntu after recently using it under windows, the about:config setting "browser.backspace.action" gets reset from my preferred setting (0) to the default setting (2).
How can I prevent these two things from happening?

Maybe it is better to use separate profiles for each OS and create symlinks or hard links to the sqlite databases that you want to share.
Your Linux profile may be using extensions (e.g. Ubuntu Firefox Modifications) that modify specific settings and in such a case you can't really prevent this.<br />
You can use a user.js file to initialize specific prefs on each start, but that makes it impossible to make changes on the about:config page that last the current session and you need to remember which prefs are affected.

Dreamweaver 6.1 - JavaScript error when switching between open tabs

When switching between open tabs a sequence of javascript
errors occurs. I had not used Dreamweaver for about 2 weeks, and
last time I used it with no problems.
I have tried uninstalling it, OKing removal of all files when
asked, re-installing it and updating with dwmx61_updater.exe, but I
still get the same errors.
This has rendered the software virtually unuseable, so any
help would be greatly appreciated, as I'm working to a
rapidly-approaching deadline.

You can try this simple fix -
Quit DW.
Find this folder -
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application
Data\Macromedia\Dreamweaver
8\Configuration\WinFileCache-*.dat
(these folders are normally hidden - you may have to use
Explorer > Tools >
Folder Options to unhide them)
and delete it.
Restart DW. Works better?

What idiots created the "Switch between apps" tab?

Microsoft, you've created a major screw up and offer no solution for this. I purchased a new laptop, (has a touchscreen), and I can not get rid of the "Switch between apps" tab without restarting the computer.
Swiping it does nothing, it stays. Clicking the top left corner or touching there does nothing. It just sits there determined to be a pain and take up part of the screen.
What idiot designed this function. Have they been fired? Why does Microsoft refuse to respond with a fix or answer to all of the people asking to resolve this?
Really ticked off customer.

I want to provide my help to help you get rid of this issue, instead of restarting your computer.
Open Local Group Policy Editor, you can press Win+R to get the prompt, type
gpedit.msc and press Enter.
In the left pane, click/tap on to expand User Configuration, Administrative Templates, Windows Components, and Edge UI
In the right pane of Edge UI, double click/tap on Disable help tips to edit it:
Set the configuration to Enabled.
Select Apply and exit Local Group Policy Editor.

How to switch between apps in mission control shortcut key

I open two apps in my macbook, how can i select the app without clicking on it?.I know that f3 > mission control and then click, but i want to switch between apps with keyboard shortcut.Thanks in advance for your help.( I am runnig lion).

Hold down the cmd (⌘) key and briefly press the tab key (⇥) then use the left/right arrow keys to select the application you wish to switch to. When done release the cmd key.

Well, you can have one app that you can get to with a double push of the home button (set in settings which you want), but I think it's only your contacts list, or your ipod app. Still useful though.

A pop-up window says I have mutiple tabs but I can't switch between them

Was making payment in popup window. Asked to print confirmation and pop-up window went blank (did not print). Cannot recover payment confirmation screen. Switching between apps launched through RemoteApp from Windows 2008 R2 server

I have a problem with RemoteApp on Windows 2008 R2 Standard SP1.
When I try to switch between apps, launched from RD Web Access web-page, it is not always succeded. Instead of it the target app blinks and I still remain at the previous app. In another words, the next app window remains behind the previous
app window and I have to minimize the previous app before switching to the next app.
Following the recommendations given by the TechNet Online Chat assistant, I've been installed all the available updates on that server from the Microsoft Update, but it didn't help us.
Is there any way to resolve this trouble?

Flash CS3: Serious lag when Switching between Applications

I've got a serious problem with Flash CS 3 on my Macbook Pro,
which makes it almost unworkable.
When I'm working in flash, switch to another application
(Mail, Illustrator, any...) and then switch back to flash. the
program freezes for at least 9 to 10 seconds: The Menu's are all
transparant and greyed out, and the only thing I see is the beloved
"beachball" spinning.
Needless to say that this makes it very hard to work with the
program, since switching between apps is a big part of my workflow.
Is anyone experiencing the same problem?
I have re-installed the whole CS3 suite (twice) and even
cleaned up my computer and did a clean install of OS X!!
I'm running on a 15" mac book pro (2,33) with 2gig memory,
bought last may.

I'm having the same problem as well. I was using Flash 8,
thought I would upgrade to Flash CS3 and solve the problem but that
was no good. There's still a long lag time when switching to Flash
from any other program. Not sure if it's a Memory problem or a Font
problem. Any word on a solution for this annoying problem?
I'm running a PowerPC G5 with dual 2.0ghz processors and 2.5

Swiping up from the bottom of the screen with four fingers did not bring up the app preview. A single press on the home button still brings me back to the home screen, but a double press of the home button does nothing following updating to 7.1 Given that, when I added a software home button as suggested by DIAVONEX, I found that all of the apps WERE still open! So thank you DIAVONEX, and you should be careful, bobseufert, as your information was inaccurate.( I did try turning it off and that didn't change anything. ) I don't really want a software home button on my screen, but I guess I will use it until either there is another update to resolve this glitch or someone else identifies a quirky setting that I inadvertently activated...

Switch Between Apps shortcut doesn't work, tip won't go away

The only solution I could find for this is to move my mouse to the top left of the screen, but it doesn't work when I do. Therefore, whenever I have an app open, the ****ing tip to switch between apps won't leave my screen. Same thing for the tip that
shows me where the start button is, only when the tip isn't actually there, I can use the button without a hitch. Seriously frustrating considering I haven't had a computer for almost a week and this happened the moment I started it up.
