Tabs will not close when hitting the "X" in the tab.

Several times a day I will notice that when I close a tab that the tab remains open, but turns into an "(Untitled)" tab, which will not close. I then have to restart my Firefox browser. This has only occurred after the installation of your new version, 3.6.6.

remove the application bblean and try again, that program is not in active development anyways (last activity on the sourceforge page, 2009)

Try double clicking your home button then force close the stuck PDF by swiping upward. Once you've done that just click the home button again to exit.

For starters, have him open Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, select the volume (the indented listing) and Verify Disk. If it reports any problems, have him try a Safe Boot by holding the Shift key at startup. This boot will take much longer than usual. It's checking and trying to repair the drive directory, if possible. Once in Safe Boot, have him repair Permissions.

Also, have him try a PRAM Reset. At the startup chime, hold down CMD-Option-P-R together, listen for two more chimes, total three, then let go to finish booting.
Also, is he running any AV? If so, have him uninstall it. It might be responsible for this behavior. (There are no viruses for OS X.)

If you key Del while holding down Ctrl and Alt (the old three-finger DOS reboot), either the Windows Task manager will pop up immediately or you can select it from a list of options. In the Windows Task Manager's Processes tab, you should be able to find "firefox.exe" in the Image Name column. (Left-clicking the Image Name column will sort the names alphabetically, and then you can scroll up or down looking for "f".) Left-click on that "firefox.exe" and then left-click the "End Process" box. A warning box should then pop up, asking if you're really sure you want to terminate the process. Answer Yes. Then wait a few seconds for disk activity to die down. Then re-launch Firefox as you would normally.

App tabs will not save. when close then open ff, the app tabs are gone. how do I save them?

Every time i set up some app tabs, they disappear when I close ff. So upon reopen, have to set them up again, just to disappear again when i close ff. I thought once setup, they stay until deleted. The add-on "app-tab initializer" 0.2 fixed it for me. You define your preferred app tabs and it opens them each time firefox is launched.

Use "Disable all add-ons" on the Safe Mode start window to disable all extensions.

I've been using Firefox for several years and just ran across a problem within the past two weeks. I usually have several tabs open at the same time while browsing the Internet. Suddenly, when I tried to open a new tab by clicking on the "+" tab at the top right of the screen, a new tab would not open. Then I tried clicking on "file + new tab" and a new tab still won't open. If I click on a link within an email, then a new tab will open, but I cannot choose to open a new tab. Please help! Thanks! :)

Your above posted system details show multiple Java Console extensions.
You can uninstall and remove Java Console extensions, you do not need them to run Java applets.

ITunes Will Not Close When I Click The Red "X".

I then have to go to "Task Manager" and then "Processes" then manually end the process of iTunes. This is a very frequent problem, please fix soon. I have had many versions of iTunes and they had the same problem, right now I am on the latest update of 10.4.0.80.

Can you confirm what you mean by a factory reset?
Some other users have had corrupt apps, that were fixed by re-installing the OS over the top.
I was planning on getting you to reinstall the OS, it can be done without overwriting the files you have installed, it will work like an 'upgrade'.
The default installer option is 'reinstall OS X' this means your user data & 3rd party application data should remain in place. However if you have nothing of interest on the Mac a clean install would be OK too.
I wouldn't attempt a re-install without backing up in case anything goes wrong, obviously a clean install removes all your data.
It is worth getting connected via a wired connection (ethernet) if at all possible. If the installer needs to be downloaded it can take a long time on wifi & can fail if the wifi is poor. An alternative is to create a bootable USB installer, ask if you want to do that, it's fairly simple.
To 'clean install' you boot into recovery mode (hold 'cmd+R' at boot)
Select Disk Utility from the options
Select your main 'volume' in the list on the left, below the disk icon. It will be called Macintosh HD (or whatever the disk is named).
Select the erase tab & erase it.
Quit Disk Utility
Open the 're-install Mac OS X' item & install onto the volume you just erased.

Make sure that you do not use Clear Recent History to clear the <i>Browsing History</i> when you close Firefox.

It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
Delete the sessionstore.js [2] file and possible sessionstore-##.js [3] files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).

Close other tabs option freezes computer then tabs will not close at all

When I have multiple tabs open and I click the close other tabs button The computer freezes for about 1 minute and when it is unfrozen all the tabs are still there and when you click to close them nothing happens. This is a daily happening and extremely annoying. Sometimes it happens after i have had the browser open for a while and other times it will do it as soon as i open it.

Tabs will not close no matter what, even in safe mode.

For less than a day now I have not been able to close any of my tabs. Clicking the X besides them, right clicking them and selecting close, and CTRL + W will not work. The problem persists even in safe mode.

First tab will not close and address bar in tab does not update.

The first tab and its address bar are not working as expected. I am unable to close the first tab using the close icon on the tab or by selecting close tab from right click menu.
I also find that the address bar when displaying the first tab does not display the current web address, only text that has been previously written into the address bar field.
