TACACS+ PEAP and MAC in the same AP

Hi,
we are having a configuration in our Access Points, which I would like to know if can create troubles, because in some AP's it works perfectly, in some others we are having issues with PEAP auth.
We have TACACS+ for the Telnet into the AP's, Mac Authentication for compatibility reasons, and are now introducing PEAP.
the aaa part looks like this:
aaa authentication login default group tacacs+ local
aaa authentication login eap_methods group rad_eap
aaa authentication login mac_methods group rad_mac
aaa authentication enable default group tacacs+ enable
but can we have troubles with the first line where is "default" ?
Jorge

Jorge,
No, that is not going to give you any trouble unless there is any software bug.
You will bind "method list" to a specific interface. Once done, default will ignore that interface.
Please rate if helps.

~JG

  • Use one external harddrive on both pc and mac at the same time

i bought an iomega external harddrive today
can i use it on both mac and pc at the same times?
    for ex:
when i plug in both computer
i could able to read and write on the hdd on both computer
since i format it into 4 partitions (2 journal and 2 doc)
so i wish i can use them separately in 2 computers

Hi Jerry_L and welocme to Discussions,
using such USB or Firewire connected external harddrives with two computers at the same time is usually not recommended by the manufacturer.
Doing so might lead to data-loss and the like.
Check with the manual of that harddisk to verify.
Using it with one computer at a time with your partitioning should be doable.

  • I want to run PEAP and LEAP at the same time...

I have an environment where I have 25 Laptops connected to my wireless network using PEAP and TKIP over an XP wireless client with a certificate. I also just purchased 25 IPAQ's with built-in wireless and they have the ability to do LEAP or PEAP. I am having issues getting the certificate to take up residence on the IPAQ's, so I thought I could do LEAP instead. What are the caveats of running both protocols at the same time and what configuration issues will I run into with this on the IPAQ's?
I tried to setup LEAP yesterday without success, basically because I don't know what step I am leaving out. Maybe its TKIP that is causing the problem, I don't know.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    David Beaver

The access point doesn't know or care which EAP flavor you're using; LEAP vs PEAP is configured on the client, and you have to specify on your server which flavor(s) you'll allow.
Supporting both PEAP and LEAP is inelegant, though, and exposes some of your clients to the dictionary attacks LEAP is subject to. You'd be better served by getting PEAP working correctly on your iPaqs.
You don't need clientside certificates for PEAP, and you don't need to put the server certificate on the iPaq unless you're self-signing. If you are and the problem is that the iPaq isn't accepting your root cert, then the problem may be that it's not in a format the iPaq recognizes. Try importing the root cert into IE and then re-exporting it in DER format, then see if the iPaq will take that.
Also make sure that your pda's are flashed with the latest OS and firmware patches. I've got PEAP working just fine on my HP 5500, but it did take a little tweaking to get it there.

  • Pc and mac at the same time

hey guys it is possible to use time capsule both on mac and xp, i use my mac as main computer and i just want to use my pc *** access random data on time capsule

OK, so you just want to know how to access the TC from a PC?
Run Airport Utility from the Mac. Choose "manual setup", then "disks", "sharing".
Make sure that sharing is enabled. Set the Workgroup name to be the same as the Workgroup name set on the PC. The default for XP is "Mshome".
You should now be able to use the TC from the PC, assuming that you have a network connection between the PC and the TC. The TC will be visible in Explorer/My Network Places/Windows Network/Workgroup (or similar, just keep clicking the "+" signs until you find it).

  • Upgrading Logic and Mac at the same time?

Hey, I need a bit of help. I am curenttly running Logic 7 on a 2.0 dual core powermac G5. When Apple release the penryn chips I will sell my G5 and get a new mac book pro. I want to upgrade to Logic 8 (the UK upgrade price is about £130). However would I need to install logic 7 on the new mac to be able to use the upgrade? Sorry if this sounds stupid! I don't really wanna be installing old software on my new mac. Could someone explain how this would work. I would prefer to keep everything new and simple, for some reason I have an image of installing 7 and then upgrading to 8 is gonna eat all my memory and hardrive space and muck up the new machine?! Kinda wanted to start afresh with new computer, new software etc. There is nothing I need to bring over from my copy of Logic, no tracks or plug-in's or anything. Also another factor is I think I have 7 or 7.1, not sure that will even run on the new intels will it? If I remember I think 7.2 was the intel upgrade. If I had the money I would just buy it from scratch but I don't have the money and spent about £600 on it originally so would prefer to keep costs down!
    Cheers

No, just install Logic 8 and have your XSkey handy.
Logic 7 installation is not required (or even advisable.)

  • CC Licence - PC and Mac at the same time?

I have CC on my windows 8.1 PC - works fine for my current purposes, However if I want to develop an iPad App using InDesgn and Single DPS I need a Mac to complete the Apple process of building the Folio, getting the certificates and actually publishing the App.
How can I have InDesign CC on both my PC and the Mac (which I have yet to buy!) without breaching Adobe licence rules?
Or am I allowed to have CC on two different OS machines providing only one is actively being used at any given time?

    Hi las@mubadala,
As per the following link, it is mentioned under the "Getting Started" menu, that you can install and activate Creative Cloud desktop applications on two computers, regardless of operating system, for the individual associated with the Creative Cloud membership.

  • Using iPod both in Windows and Mac at the same Time?

I was wondering if it was possible to use my brand new ipod both in Mac as in Windows without having to format or restore it every time?
The idea is to use "manually manage songs" on both Operating Systems.
    Thanks for your help!

iPods come formatted Windows and will work on Macs and Windows. Unless you Restore it in a Mac, it will stay formatted Windows.
If it doesn't work, put the iPod on Disk Mode and iTunes should recognize in both systems.
If it is formatted Mac, it will not be useable on Windows, even in Disk Mode.

  • Can ipod Nano work on PC and Mac at the same time?

I have a PC at home, which my iPod is formatted to. I tried to plug it into my iMac at work today and it didn't recognize any of my songs. It gives me the option to erase and sync or transfer purchases, neither of which will let me play anything. If I'm not confused, I was able to plug in my old ipod to any computer and play the songs on it without actually transferring anything - kind of like using iTunes like an iHome or something. Once you ejected your ipod from the "foreign" computer, your songs came with it. Can you not do this anymore? Or is it a mac/PC issue? I'd really like to listen to my music at work. Please help!

No. Standalone serials are platform specific. You will have to get Creative Cloud or a separate license for your Mac.

  • Why are my ITunes playlists on my iPhone, iPad and Mac not the same?

I don't understand the ITunes.  I have an Iphone, Ipad and new Mac Probook with Retina Display.  When I add songs to ITunes my playlists do not synchronize.  I have to manually delete the playlist on my Mac, create new ones, then synch with USB to each device.  Isn't there an easier way to manage the playlists?

You can't drag and drop content onto smart playlists, only regular ones.

  • Please Help: Brand new to Logic and Mac at the same time

    Dear Board,
I joined the Mac family yesterday and have done pretty well with getting Logic and Cubase 4 installed on the Mac. (It's like trying to learn Spanish when you're from Alabama)
However, when I assign an instrument track to ESX sampler, no libraries or presets come up. I can hear one sound, but when I pull down the menu to load another sound, there are no other sounds to be found. Do I have them stored in the wrong place or did they not automatically load when I installed Logic?
Specifically, I am looking for a decent acoustic piano sound, but can't make it work.
I migrated from Logic 5 on PC to this setup yesterday, so it's all new to me. Any help you can give will be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    B3
Mac Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   Logic 7.2

Well a fellow Las Vegan, that is something I
havent seen since I have been on this forum.
Anyway welcome and good choice to go with
Logic Pro 7. This app is a constant challenge.
First I have to ask an obvious question, did you
install the contents disc? That is the one with all
the samples on it. Since you have been using a
different version, I assume you know how the
EXS works so that should not be the issue.
If you click on the black area no menus come up?
Or do empty menus come up? We will get it going,
this sounds like misplaced files. Phil

  • My macbook internet download speed is extremely slow. I have tried other computers both windows and mac on the same line and speeds are normal. What is the problem?

My macbook internet download speed is extremely slow. I have tried 2 other computers, another mac and windows and the download speed is over 10mb but with this macbook pro it is less than 1mb. What is causing this and how to fix?

To find out how much space you have & what is left, open up Disk Utility/Machintosh HD/First Aid.  The info will be at the bottom of the window.
Sluggish Finder - Bunch of icons on your desktop?  An overcrowded desktop slows down your Mac.
Get rid of needless Finder calculations - Open a window in Finder/View/Show View Options:  ensure "Calculate All Sizes" option is unchecked.
Internet related - It's likely that your broadband connection is the bottleneck.  You can check your speed on http://www.speedtest.net to see how fast your connection is.  If your web browser specifically performs slowly, quit and relaunch it.
If browser remains sluggish, empty its cache.
    Safari/Empty Cache
Firefox/Preferences - select the Network tab of the Advanced preferences and click the "Clear Now" button in the "Offline Storage" area.
Application related - Launch "Activity Monitor" - Applications/Utilities - click the CPU heading and see what float to the top.  If an application takes up a large chunk of CPU and won't let it go, it could be dragging down your Mac's performance.  Quit it by clicking the Quit Process button at the top of the Activity Monitor window.
Too little ram - max out your ram.
Solution may be found if you search in the "More Like This" section over in the right column.

Open the Mac App Store on the other Mac and in the Quick Links sign into your account. See if the Mountain Lion purchase is among hidden apps in the iCloud area of your account info.
