Tag a community subsite in SP 2013

Hi,
I am using community portal template for showing the community sites avlble in the community site collec.
I have a reqmnt to tag a community
is this possible in SP 2013?
help is appreciated!

The tags is a site column that you associate to list or a library, not to a site, so this is not possible out of the box.

i wanted to have a discussion forum within my publishing site collection. is this possible ? when i went to a create a community subsite in the publishing, it was not available.
or
instead can i use discussion board? as per my requirement customer wanted to have a discussion forum experience withinmy publishing site.
so i thought of creating a community subsite as this is a new feature and replaced the old discussion board.
pls help me to decide which one would be best, if community subsite , how to create a community subsite within a publishing site collection.

site settings--> look and feel -->page layputs and site templates-->select the Community Site (All) or
Team Site(All)
click on OK.
now you would be able to create community/team sub site as per your needs.

Error in searching a community site in SP 2013 in Community portal template based site

I have created a community site collection and created few subsites with community site template.
after this, i have created a community portal template such that i can search for the popular communities in this template.
[ using content search web part].
i have performed the full crawl on this web appln in my search serv.appln

According to your post, my understanding is that you got an error when you search in the Community Portal.
Did you install the March Public Update?
In my environment, I had installed the March Public Update, and I used the search box in the Community Portal, it worked well.
You can install the March PU, then check whether it works.

Tagged items web part issue SP 2013

Hi,
we have configured Content tag cloud and we have two different issues.
1. we have configured to show the tags that are tagged under the current url by all users, but when we click on the tag, it shows all the documents that are tagged with that specific tag (from different sites), is this a known behavior.
2. For many of the tags, we don't see the documents in the Tagged items web part (some only shows in popular within 60 days tab but not in All tab)
We have run the full crawl and social maintenance timer job to fix some other issues earlier. I also read somewhere that we need to activate the content type syndication hub, but we already have many tags working fine. what is the relation to the content
type syndication hub.
Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks.

#1. Yes. If we click a tag in the Tag Cloud web part, it will redirect use to the tag profile page for this tag.
And all the items tagged by the tag will be displayed in this tag profile page.
#2. This issue may be due to the incremental crawl miss some tagged items or tags.
I recommend to run a full crawl and then check the results.
Per my knowledge, it has nothing to do with the content type syndication hub.

Transformer Tag for Community Page

Hello,
I'm trying to build a transformer tag to allow a user to create a link to a Community Page, similar to the Add Pages function in the Edit Links area of the SubPortal Manager. My code is as follows:

Thanks for your reply. I will be using the pt:openerLink once the user has selected the Community Page they would like to link to. The trouble I'm having is using the pt:treeLink tag to select a Community Page. I can use the treeLink tag to select documents and communities, but I can't seem to select community pages (class 514) using the pt:treeLink tag.

Limiting communication within a Lync 2013 organization

How can I limit users from communicating with each other with an on-perm Lync 2013 server? Can this be done by security groups or is there some other way of doing this? I will have a single domain using this installation but want to limit certain people
from reaching out VIP staff. Is this possible?

You can use the AD attribute called msRTCSIP-GroupingID to partition Lync Address Book. You can set different value of the attribute above to separate Lync users.

I have a similar situation. In upgrading from Elements 7 to 11 all my keyword tags are lost; both in the keyword panel and the tags on each of my imported pictures. I didn't install the Elements 11 I had a tech do it when I took my computer in for other issues, so I'm not sure of any of the specific steps taken when this was done. Any way to get these back short of "tagging" each picture again?

What's Happening Web Part not showing number of discussions on Community Site

Hello,
I have the What's Happening Web Part on the landing page of a community site in SharePoint 2013 Enterprise On-Premises.
The What's Happening Web Part shows number of members and discussion replies correctly, but does not show any discussions.
Any idea of where to start troubleshooting?

1. is there any customization process on this webpart? - No customizations
2. have you try to restart the community feature from the site feature option in site settings? - Not yet. Thanks for the suggestion. This is a Communities Site Collection. All of the other Community features are working. Should I ask the Farm Admin to restart
the communities feature?
3. have you tried to add another what's happening webpart at newdummy site? No I haven't. Great suggestion. Kinda embarresed that I didn't think of this. Must have been tired that day.
4. is there any steps that you did before?, because in my lab box seems the webpart works well. - I tried deleting it from the page and then adding it back, but to no avail. Will try a test site.

we migrated the IBM community's to SharePoint 2013 using tool,I taken the back up of that community site in SharePoint and i restored it in different SharePoint2013 Environment.
When we trying to create any new discussion in Discussion Board List we are getting an error like.

Generating automatic newsletter from Subsites

Hi Team,
I have few subsites on Homepage which I use for different communities at work place.Each subsite will have content updated every week.Each community(Subsite) will have separate content.
I want to know if there is a way to consolidate updated content from subsites into a single newsletter and thereby automated weekly mail to respective subscribers of subsites.

Hi Ed-meister. Thanks about roadrunner-that makes sense. But, I am assuming the drag is due to this "automated queries" thing, since I've been noticing the slowdown for some time. I am addicted to ancestry.com and assumed too many people were on it, slowing me down. I did download a feature while on ancestry that I didn't quite like or trust and deleted it, but think that may be where I picked it up. I've heard that when you link to a download, it happens without you noticing. Google is apparently trying to prevent it, and has not let me go to several links lately, including the one you gave me to paste the message. Just as well, it may attach to you also-hope I haven't already. anyway-is this considered spyware or what. Google gave me some recent downloads to check, but now I can't get back to the message to see them. Thanks for your help. wagers
