Tag Editing

Most of my iTunes songs are on CDs. When you buy songs from the iTunes store, they all come with the record label, full release date (not just year), and copyright information. I have track numbers and the primary tags like album, artist, and title. I have been checking out an app called Metadatics on the Mac App Store. But it's $10 so I'd like to know if it works first. So, is there an iTunes Metadata editor that is very powerful, allows for batch editing, can edit hidden tags that you can't edit in iTunes such as the record label, full release date (not just year), and copyright information, has a good interface, and can integrate with iTunes so that I don't have to dig through my Finder Browser having to look for each individual audio file. I am running Mac OS X 10.7.5 (Lion) on an old 2007 Macbook with 2 GB of RAM and 500 GB of storage.
Thanks very much.

Select the first song with left click mouse / then scroll down to the last one, hit the shft key and then select with left mouse botton, then let go...this will highlight in blue your selection now hit the hit ctrl i on keyboard, select yes then make the necessary changes...
Have fun

  • Variable tag editing speed

    Hey gurus
I have been editing large numbers of tags throughout my music collection and I noticed that some changes to tags are written almost instantaneously while others take a surprisingly long time. My music in in mp3 format for the most part, and the variation in write speed occurs for the same tag type e.g. album title.
What could be the reasons for this variability? File formats? Different ID3 versions? Sometimes it takes atrociously long to complete the task for files of average size (<10MB). I do also have much larger files that are 2-hour long sets I have downloaded, and it can take up to half an hour to simply add a single piece of coverart to as few as twenty files. Is the entire file scanned before the tags are edited? This might explain the delay during edits to these big files, though it seems deplorably inefficient for the entire file to be read when only the tags need to be. It still doesn't explain while some very average mp3 files take much much longer to have tags edited than others with seemingly no difference between them other than the song itself...
Perhaps someone with experience in how iTunes actually edits tags might have some insight to add to this. I can't imagine I'm the only one with this problem...
    Thanks very much!

that's how "non destructive" editing works, isn't it? The actual video files are not moved around by the >editing?
That's the idea. Files are not duplicated.
Editing tells the Scratch Disc files what to play, how much and when plus any effects etc.

  • Creative Mediasource ID3 Tags - Edit more than one year at a ti

I use a 60gb Zen Xtra with Mediasource. I take pride in the ID3 tags of all my files especially those of my Jazz collection and my player is well organised. The only thing I have to ask is - is there any way of editing the year of, say, an entire album that was recorded in 959 for example all at the same time. It lets me do this for Artist, Album and Genre but not year. Is there any upgrade in software I can get or am I just missing something here?
Thanks in advance for your input,Matt

Shucks, I tried and you can't seem to do it. A curious oversight.
You can either use another copying program like which will let you do it, or simply get a mass tagger (but you will need to edit the tracks on the PC first, then copy). For some mass tagger recommendations look here in the Zen FAQ at Nomadness.net.

  • Wish list: Meta tag editing

We're using ICE internally and it would be a very nice feature if meta tags (title, description, keywords) could be edited as well. I now still have to access each page to manually edit these tags and most of our marketing staff are capable enough to do this themselves. Could this be a possible feature?

    Hello Plux,
Thank you for sharing your needs with us. The ability to edit page title and metadata is a feature that is on our roadmap, but is not supposed to be included in the service this year.
Let us know if there is anything else you would like to see included in the service in the near or mid-term future.
    Thank you,

  • Very slow movie tag edit

    Hi,
when I edit my movie (m4v files) tags (the artwork), it takes ages before it is saved (several minutes).
    Any reason for this?
    Can I avoid this?

In addition to above, I notice this happens the first time after I've added the movie to the iTunes library...

  • Ovi Suite / Nokia Photos Tag editing

I added a tag to 788 photos. That was easy :-)
Now comes the hard part, figuring out how to remove the tag for all these files in one go, as I did a typo.
I can figure out how to select them all and add new tags but I can't figure how how to delete a tag on all files without opening each individual file.
    Any suggestions?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    D'oh!
It's actually quite simple to remove the tags:
    Select the files:
Edit / batch Edit / Content or Location Tags
Remove the tag you don't like
    Ok
My problem was I had selected one file that I had manually removed the tag from, so the wrong tag did not appear as a common tag to remove anymore :-)

  • MP3 Tag editing

    Hi y'all,
As you may know, iTunes can sort songs by album artists, thereby eliminating the clutter in the music library (in effect, two artist entries like "Michael Jackson feat. Slash" and "Michael Jackson" are both considered as one artist entry).
However, the iphone does not sort with album artists, because it displays all the individual artists (both featuring artists and artists in a compilation) as different entries, therefore making the iphone browsing experience a real drag. In itunes my Kill bill album has all the original artists in the artist tag and "kill bill OST" as album artist, which represents it as a standalone album (No, I dont want to put it in compilations, cause I dont want to have to deliberately browse in compilations to find an album).
Im therefore looking for a way to change the tag scheme while retaining the crucial info. The automator script would do the following (variables in single quotes):
-Find tracks where the 'artist' tag is not the same as the 'album artist' tag
-Take the 'artist tag' content and add it to the track name like so: track name (feat. 'artist')
-Extract the album artist name and use it as the artist tag
Therefore, all the outstanding artist information would be appended to the track name and would not be lost. Also, the Iphone/ipod touch would sort by the main artist's name, and/or the name of the album if its a compilation (like a sound track, for example).
Do you know how to make this happen? Im familiar with jquery scripting but I can find was to use variables in automator, as Im new to this.
    Thank you in advance!
    Cheers

ID3 tags can also be edited using the Nokia Music PC app or Zune...

  • Make head /head tags editable within template?

    Hi Guys,
Is it possible to create a template and make the area between the <head> </head> editable as I have about 80 pages in my site using my template, but I have about 12 odd pages that use various different javascript libraries and plugins to function.  I dont want to apply the scripts and plugins to the template as they are not required, besides they are individual to each page.
    Many Thanks for the advice.
    Jalz

If you are using a recent version of Dreamweaver, there should be an editable section in the head of the document just before the closing head tag. It looks like this:
    <!-- TemplateBeginEditable name="head" -->
    <!-- TemplateEndEditable -->
    </head>
Insert the keywords, description, links to external files between the Template comments.
If you're using an older version of Dreamweaver that hasn't created an editable region inside the head, copy and paste the template comments into the master template just before the closing head tag, as shown above.

  • Editing Tags on the Player (Zen 32 GB) and Probs with cover

    Hi there,
My dearly beloved Creative Zen touch just snuffed it and I replaced it with the Creative Zen 32 GB.
I am very, very satisfied with the player over all.
Only the Tag editing really annoys me.
On my Zen touch I could edit the tags after loading the tracks on to the player.
Not only one by one but say, all from one album at once.
Is this even possible with the Zen touch?
I accidentally tagged an audiobook with 7 CDs wrongly.
Do I have to erase it and load it on the player again?
    That would be sooo uncomfortable.
    Thanks for your help.
Oh and what do I have to do, to have the pictures of the albums shown on the zen?
I mean, how are these pictures attached to the tracks of an album?

I saw the suggestion earlier in this post to use the tag editing tool within zen media explorer but can't seem to find that on the software I have?
The "Zen Media Explorer" is the MTP device plugin for Windows Explorer. It creates a volume named "Zen Media Explorer" in the list of dri'ves/volumes that appear under "My Computer" or in a top-level explorer window. Since the flash Zen is MTP (not MSC a.k.a. UMS) it doesn't have an assigned dri've letter. It comes as part of the general "software pack" Creative includes with the Zen to handle management, video and image file conversion, etc. You can also grab the latest version/update from the (Support | Downloads | Zen) web page. You may need to use the controls in the bottom-left of the page (scroll all the way down) to filter the list for your particular OS.
The Zen Media Explorer will present a hierarchical list of files on the Zen. When you navigate to a song track, select the song track and bring up the context menu (right mouse button menu) there will be an "Edit Track Properties..." menu item. This displays a dialog box that lets you modify the core ID3 tags the Zen wants to properly organize the internal library (namely Title, Genre, Album, Artist, Track No. and Year). Only those tags can be edited at present. You can't assign/modify Album Artwork this way.

  • Creating editable tags in templates - MX

From my template I need to have the tag editable but not the
    content.
for eg. <p class="red">I went to the park</p>
I need to have 'red' editable but non of the rest of the
    string.
so you could change it to <p class="blue">I went to the
    park</p>
Any ideas on how to do this?
when i set an editable region it sets the whole <p> to
be inside, then I cant change the content of the p in the template
    and have it update.
    Thanks in advance.

  • None editable Div tag within a editable Div tag template

I am using a template i created to build a website and the only editable Div is the 'Content'. Using this template i have created a 2nd template for a portfolio page. On my 2nd template i have a Div tag within the 'Content' Div tag with list of all the jobs i have  done with hyperlinked to photos. I want this list to be only editable on  the template so when i update the 2nd template rest of the files related to  this template get updated.
Is it possible to have a none editable Div tag within an editable Div tag?
I hope i have explained this well. Many thanks for your help

    Thank you for your respond.
I have a main template with just the 'Content' Div Tag editable. Using this template i created anyother template for my portfolio page. Inside the editable Div Tag i have another Div Tag with 2 sets of tables for my portfolio lists. I want this Div tag to be only editable through the 2nd template only as i will have portfolio lists of over 30 pages/links.
    I selected the Div Tag with the 2 set of tables and selected 'Add Object to Library'. First message was that the CSS coding will not be copied but errors messages as follows;
'While executing canInspectSelectio in phatfusion slideShow_FAB75CA2.htm, a JavaScript error occurred.'
'While executing canInspectSelectio in Ken Burns Slideshow.htm, a JavaScript error occurred.'
'While executing canInspectSelectio in Shadowbox3b Gallery_2528933A.htm, a JavaScript error occurred.'
Everytime i click inside the Div Tag, i keep getting these messages.
I went to the library and amended the list but only the 2nd template changed, not the related pages linked to the 2nd template.
Is there a place where i can upload my page in this website so you can see it?
    Please see below the coding for the 2nd template for my portfolio pages;

  • DreamWeaver 12.1 Modify | Edit Tag missing

I recently updated DreamWeaver through the Adobe updater.  One of the features I use a lot was the "Edit Tag" under "Modify".  With this new version (12.1), this feature is gone.  Is this a bug or a permanent change?

Just to update. I received my call back from 2nd tier support. The fellow told me they have seen the same "behavior". According to Adobe "it's working as intended" and that I should "edit tags manually". To which I asked "are you telling me that Adobe took tag editing out of Dreamweaver on purpose?" To which he responded by repeating the first statements again. He did say that Adobe developers may "change it" in a "future update". He was very careful to refer to it as a "behavoir" as opposed to an "issue", "bug", "error", "fix", "correct", etc.. Just for fun I tried to get him to say something like bug, error, fix but I failed. He was well trained at support-speak if not actual problem solving.
I uninstalled DW and reinstalled DW. I did not apply the patch and it's working again. So I'm still using it and CC for now. If it's not corrected or if Adobe truly removed tag editing on purpose, I'll cancel my Creative Cloud and make the switch to another IDE (Eclipse). Which I should have done years ago since I'm a programmer not a designer. I just got used to DW over the years and really do like it. That is up until this sillyness. I was on the fence over CC. I really only need Photoshop, Acrobat and DW to work. It was cheaper for the subscription that it was upgrading the stuff I needed but if DW is not in the picture I could get by with older versions of the other two.
If you are struggling with this issue, try uninstallng just DW (Control Panel > Add Remove > Dreamweaver) making sure you tell it to remove everything including preferrences. Then reinstall. It worked for me. And I'll be ignoring all future CC updates for at least 30 days.
So far I'm not impressed with the software as service from Adobe although I was very glad that a reinstall and skiping of the patch did work. I would rather have better support for something I have to shell out money for each month.
