Tag Inspector DW CS3

Hi all,
I've used it before without any problems, but now when I select some text to put a tag behaviour over it, I see no options available to me ion the Tag Inspector.
Is it me or something else. I'm using DW CS3.
Thanks to all who respond.
David

Hi Ken,
That is an image of something I've never seen before. There is no such button as your image shows on my CS3!
The Tag Inspector on the office (XP SP3) and home (WIN7) computers appear at the top right-hand corner and comprise a drop-down menu, all of which are without available options on the OFFICE computer. The Inspector works perfectly well on the HOME computer.
I don't know what's happened to the office system. It was perfectly fine and dandy only two days ago.
Thanks for your assistance.

  • Meta tag inspector settings

    Hi there.
On the GoLive (CS2) meta tag inspector, there are a bunch of different drop down settings. The default is "generator" and others; abstract, author, copyright, date, descriptor, keywords, language, organization, public, ratings, revisits-after and robots.
what are the difference between those? where should they be used for optimum website placement? why does it default to "generator" and not "keywords" for instance?
    thanks for your help.
    best, M/

The only one of those that has any value with regard to SERP is the
description. You can ignore all the others except for the revisits and
robots ones which may be useful in guiding the search engine spiders on how
    to index your site.
The remainder as strictly used for special purpose needs. You can find a
complete description of them all here -

  • Can I create a "play" button in the Tag Inspector extension

    Hello,
I am creating a Tag Inspector extension for changing the
properties of a customized swf files.
Can I create a "play" button in the property panel to preview
    the swf movie?
I've checked the "Inspectors" folder in the "configuration"
and cant find the Inspector panel htm of swf object.
It seems a part of core code of dreamweaver.

No.  iDVD does not have that feature.  However, there are two ways you can do this:
1 - join the 10 segments into one movie file.  It's quite easy if you have Quicktime Pro and Quicktime Player 7.  Other video editing apps can do the job.
2 - you can create a slideshow in iDVD and add each of the movies to it so they all will play one after another:
Set the Slide duration to anything but Manual.  Do not select a transition and add no music to the slideshow.
Remember, the playing time of the entire project should be less than 120 minutes including menu's playing time in order for you to use a single layer DVD disc.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

  • Exporting Text as InDesign Tagged Text in CS3

    Hello All,
I am facing a problem exporting the Text from InDesign Document as InDesign Tagged Text. It use to work properly in CS2. But in CS3 the IExportProvider interface CanExportThisFormat() always returns false for the format name "Indesign Tagged Text".
    InterfacePtr<IPMStream>filetream(StreamUtil::CreateFileStreamWriteLazy(sysfile));
    iiExportProvider->ExportToStream(filetream, doc, iselMgr, formatNameOfInterest, kSuppressUI);
If the CanExportThisFormat() function is ignored and directly tried to export with the above ExportToStream() function it still fails to export into stream.
Has the way to export the InDesign Tagged Text been changed in CS3.
Can any one whos tried this please help as its urgent.
    Thank you in advance.
    Regards
    Farzana.

    Hi Vikas
I export files from Photoshop as png's at 72 dpi.
Here is our current holding page.  http://www.iheartmylife.co.uk/ All the text on this page has been loaded in as png's from Photoshop along with the image. As you can see none of it is as sharp as it could be.
    Many thanks for your assistance.

  • How to Edit Comment Tag in DW CS3?

I would like to customize the HTML comment tag for my own
preferences. I know how to edit the colors and font under
Preferences, but I would like to change the whole tag and add some
more spaces and dashes. How do I edit this in DW CS3?
    Thanks..

That's invalid, I believe. You cannot have more than two
    dashes on either
    side, as I recall.

  • Naming the swap image - Can't find it in the tag inspector.

    Hello,
I followed an online description of how to do swap images
(mouse rollover) for a hyperlink. The article said that swap images
work best if the images are "named" which is a different attribute
than the image file name. I was able to name the first image, but I
never got a window that lets me name the swap image. The rollover
effect is working fine, but I want to follow best practices if the
swap image should also be named.
Where do I get the menu to name the swap image?
    Thanks,
    Tom

You only have to name the trigger image. Select the trigger,
    apply the
behavior, browse to and select the incoming image (by
    filename!), and click
    OK.

  • Behaviors tab in Tag Inspector panel

When assigning behavior effects to page elements, the effects
are associated with the onClick event evn if not specified. In many
instances the panel dows not display the behavior when assigned.
When the event is changed from onClick to any other event, the
behavior is duplicated instead of the effect being reassigne to the
specified event. Is this how the panel functions? Or is this a bug?
It is very difficult to create behaviors with this.

No it's not. How are you changing the event? You could always
    just do it
manually by changing onclick=" to onmouseover=" (as an
    example). But you
can also just click in the link, and use the drop list on the
    event field to
    select a new event.

  • How do I edit image viewer slideshow created in CS3, in CS4?

I apologize for posting this twice...once in a previous post and once here. The reason being...the other post was old (2008) and I'm afraid it might get overlooked. So I thought I'd create a new discussion.
I created a bunch  of slideshows in CS3 using Insert - Media - Image Viewer. I was looking  for an easy way for my client to update the site themselves. Even  though it creates a Flash element, it is easy for them to go in and  switch out the images. All they do is click on the slideshow box, hit  Window - Tag Inspector and click on the little folder at the side of the  Image URLs' line. Nothing could be simpler. Well...I went in to see my  client to show her how to do this but she has CS4. When I tried to do  the same thing, nothing looked the same. The tag inspector did not have  the same elements in it at all. Does this mean she cannot edit the  slideshows I have created? Ugh...
If anyone can help  with a work around to this...I'd be very grateful!
    Thanks.
    Pam

Thanks for your reply via e-mail David. I tried to reply but it's a no reply address so I'm posting here:
Do you happen to know if my client who has CS4 would be able to open the slideshows I created in CS3 using the method mentioned here:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Bridge/3.0/WSCF044571-2772-4d28-9EBD-2C9F46AF008A.html
Not having CS4, I can't even play around with it to see. Or will the slideshows have to be recreated in CS4? Has my work in CS3 over the months gone to waste in other words?
Alternatively, would it be better for us both to purchase a $29 Dreamweaver extension such as the one below, so we could both access the slideshow from CS3 and CS4 at the same time?
    http://www.dwuser.com/flashslideshow/v3/
I need to keep building the new site using the slideshows while she maintains the old site (no slideshows) until we upload the new site this summer. I don't want to continue building slideshows she cannot access.
Thanks a lot for your help!

  • DW CS3 and Flash Player 8

Myself and colleagues, using the various CS3 tools, have
recently come across a worrying problem in Dreamweaver CS3. We
create Flash movies and save them out in Flash 8 format, so that
they can be played on machines with Flash Player v8 without the
user being prompted to install Player v9, which is not possible for
our student open access machines as student users don't have admin
rights to install to HD. It's no bother exporting a Flash CS3 movie
as Flash 8. When we come to place the Flash 8 movie into a web page
in DW CS3, though, DW puts in Javascript code that forces a check
    for Player v9.
Now, we can klunk our way around this by manually editing the
JS and &lt;object&gt; code in every single page, eg:
    quote:
    &lt;object
    classid=&quot;clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000&quot;
    codebase=&quot;
    http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=7,0,19,0&quot;
    width=&quot;700&quot; height=&quot;420&quot;
    hspace=&quot;0&quot; vspace=&quot;0&quot;
    title=&quot;Referencing Websites learning
    object&quot;&gt;
but this is not a tenable solution in anything but the short
term. Is there a tweak we can make to DW such that, when we embed a
Flash movie in a page, we can either turn off Player version
checking (we do this in the Actionscript so it's redundant to do it
in the HTML/JS) or set it to check for a version earlier than 9?
I've done a Help and Knowledgebase search, and the only
half-relevant doc I can find is the article
    on
placing Flash video which refers to
Commands &gt; Remove Flash Video Detection which isn't
available on my copy of DW, at least when a SWF file is embedded
    into the page.
Thanks in advance for any helpful suggestions.

  • Creating Rollover Buttons in CS3

Hi, I'm trying to create some nice graphics for a company website in CS3.  I want to make buttons for links that have special effects when you roll over them with the mouse, click on them, etc.  (I'm using Dreamweaver CS3 to put the site together).  I have looked for tutorials on how to put the special link buttons together, but they all use ImageReady, which I don't have in Photoshop CS3.  Any suggestions for where to go to find a good tutorial, or better still, anybody know how to make these buttons work?  I can create the graphics just fine, it's getting them to be rollover links that I don't get.  Thanks!

Ok, I'm sure you would find more help in a dreamweaver forum, but here is my answer...
First, one at a time, click each image that is going to be a button and then name it in the properties field (probably at the bottom of your screen).  This will be very important in a minute.  I would name it whatever the button says on it.
Second, click the first button, go to your tag inspector tab, then click behaviors.  Right under behaviors there should be a little + with an arrow pointing down, click that and go to swap image.
You should get a box with a list of all the images on your site (most will say unnamed except for the ones we named earlier).  Click the appropriate button name (the one that matches the first one you clicked), and then click browse to select your new rollover image. and hit OK.
Click the next button you want to make a rollover and repeat the process.
If you are tryin to do this to a background image, you will want to use css.  It is a little more complicated, but basically in your css for that button, create a:hover and set a new background.
Hope that helps, let me know if you have any more questions!

  • Property inspector not working correctly

The property inspector in CS3 is not working correctly. When
I select text or any other object the property inspector does not
change for that object. But when I right mouse click on the
selected object it does. Do I need to change a setting?
    Thanks!

Yes, me too. I can't find an answer to this anywhere.
If I right-click or double-click on an item the property
inspector shows it, but if I single click, nothing happens. It's
    bad for productivity.

  • Dreamweaver CS3 to CS4 differences

So I'm talking about the properties window, the one you'd get
on the bottom of your screen abutting to the left edge of your
screen. In CS3 the HTML and CSS properties could all be viewed at
the same time. Now, in CS4, I have to choose between the HTML or
CSS properties. What drives me even more nuts, is for example say I
click on some text in the design view, and the text is formatted
with H1 tags. In CS3 I could click the center button and it would
automatically add align="center" to the H1 tag. Now, it seems like
it wants to modify a css property of the parent div of the given
element, in this case it would be an H1 tag. And in my case, the
parent element is in a locked part of a template, and I don't want
to modify that. All I want is an easy way to add align="center" to
the H1 tag only. This goes the same, say for something that I want
bolded. In CS3, I just highlight my text in design view, high the B
bold button, and it adds <strong> tags around the text. Now,
it wants to modify a CSS element. How do I change it back to how it
    did it in CS3?

    > All I want is an easy way to add align="center" to

  • Applying a class to an HR tag

Is it possible to apply a class to an HR tag within
    Contribute CS3?
The class just contains basic height/colour attributes - but
there seems to be no way to actually apply this to any horizontal
    rules within Contribute.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Jas

    I normally use this option:
    1. create a stylesheet especially for contribute users (f.i.
style-users.css). In this stylesheet you put the css-classes your
users will be able to use
    2. link the style sheet in your template so that it's
available in all pages, this way Contribute will recognize your
    styles in edit mode.
    3. in the admin section of Contribute, go to Users and Roles
and adjust the Styles settings to display the css file you created.
    4. now your users can apply a css class to the hr-tag in
    edit-mode.

  • Dumb Q on Properties Inspector and missing Font tools

I just upgraded to DW CS5.  In the Properties Inspector I somehow clicked off some options and can now no longer see font alignment or options like Bold or Italics.  Now I have to access it via the FORMAT option at the top.  I know this has to be simple but I have searched the web and cannot find the answer!!  I do have HTML clicked in the Properties Inspector.
    Thanks,

    Read my reply again:
When CSS is selected, you get CSS options, which include bold, italic,
and alignment. However, it's important to note that using these options
forces you to create a style rule. In CS5, you cannot use HTML
