"Tagged" playlist in Store - What is it?
After updating iTunes to 9.2.1, I now have a new playlist named "Tagged" showing just below the "Purchased" playlist in the Store section of the left side panel of iTunes. There are no items in this new playlist, and I can't seem to find any documentation about it. I have no clue as to what it is or why it's there. Could someone enlighten me.
Ok, but I have no use for it... Can I make it disappear until I do? The same question for the "Purchased" and "Purchased on So's iPod" playlists... I don't need them, other than erasing them, is there a way to make them disappear while I don't use them? They occupy a lot of space!

Lightning is a problem for you because it hooks into Thunderbird at a low level and you need a version compiled for the platform Thunderbird is running on. So you can't do the preferred solution, which is to put your whole profile in a shared folder and have both instances of Thunderbird reference the same profile. (Ditto for Enigmail). Lightning may become an integral part of Thunderbird in an upcoming release, at which point this limitation due to Lightning should disappear.
And if you can't use a shared profile, you can't set your Lightning, or your Address Book, to share a common set of files. Put another way, the linkage from Thunderbird to its address book files and calendar data is hard-coded, and not exposed where we can adjust it. :-(
The halfway house is to place your mail stores in a shared place, and use the Local Directory setting in each account's settings to connect to it. They don't need to be in the profile; what's more important in your case is that they are in a folder accessible to both operating systems.
Look in your profile; everything under Mail and ImapMail needs to be moved out to a shared folder. Note the entries in Thunderbird under Local Directory before you do this, and reconstruct those pathnames in Thunderbird, but adjusted to suit their new locations.
(You can see here that you need to make many adjustments, one per account, in each instance of Thunderbird, so it's a high-maintenance solution and this is why we don't recommend it when the alternative, moving the whole profile, is possible.)
I share address books and calendars between Thunderbirds on various computers (and my phone and tablet) by syncing to something in the cloud; Google Contacts and Google Calendar are my choices, using gContactSync and CalDav.
Having made the break myself some years ago, I'd recommend you break away from Windows. ;-) -
when i log in my apple id in itunes a message prompt me "This Apple ID has not yet been used with the itunes store" what do i need to do?
If you can log into the computer, go to the Mac App Store and purchase Mavericks under your AppleID. Even though its free, they still consider it a purchase.
If you are not able to log into your Mac you can try on a different Mac. Once you purchase it, you can stop the download if you want.
Once you do that then you should be able to reinstall via the Recovery HD -

Remember, any purchased item from the itunes store is forever associated with the Apple ID used to buy it. So when you get prompted for an ID/password and it doesn't accept it, then you are using the wrong ID.
Go to Settings>iTunes and App Stores, be sure it's logged into the ID you have set on the iphone (since that one seems to be connecting with the right ID). If you've done this, then you might wait a bit to see if the "cannot connect to .. store" message has to do with internet connections. -

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include clicking here and picking a method for your country, and filling out and submitting this form.

i did a sync with my ipod touch last night , didnt look at it till this morning and have spotted that a lot of apps i have purchased off the apple store have been deleted , and they are no longer available on the store , what happens now ? have i just flushed my money down the pan ? if so i wont be buying anything else!!
It is your responsibility to backup your purchases. Have you failed to do this?

I bought CS6 extended yesterday (yes i did). I have CS4 and lots of photo's in bridge (tagged with keywords). What is the best way to get my photos from bridge cs4 to cs6? Is there a guideline how to go about: so I don't loose any of my photos/keywords? Who can help?

I just purchased The Very Best Of Eagles CD, Popped it into my drive so excited to own the copy but when I tired to copy it to my Library I get this message saying the song names for this cd could not be found online when it's in the iTunes store, What's up with that? Is there any way to get track information and artwork without Having to manually inter all the info?
iTunes gets track information from Gracenote's database, so iTunes must be able to reach gracenote.com and the CD must have been entered there by some purchaser already (all CD information in Gracenote is provided by we users). If these are common, commercially-distributed CDs, it may be that there is a firewall or privacy filter blocking access to gracenote.com. If these are unusual, independently-released or rare CDs, they just may not be in Gracenote yet. In the case of a custom CD where it's a compilation, Gracenote probably won't be able to identify them (it goes by complete albums, comparing the number and length of the tracks to try and figure out what album it is).

Text in Tag doesn't match what's Visible on the screen (Acrobat 8 Pro)
I have been exporting PDFs from InDesign CS3 as tagged Acrobat 8 compatible PDFs. When bookmarking the PDF, I generally highlight the heading I want to bookmark and do a ctrl-B to bookmark it which copies the text and applies it as the bookmark text.
One thing I've been noticing is that sometimes the visible text is not the text which actually resides in the tag information (Created by ID CS3 - and it's the tag information that gets copied when one highlights and copies the text)
For example my heading read "Human Exposure" and when I make a bookmark from the highlighted heading (or copy and paste it into another application) it reads "Humanan Exposure" And if you look at the tag text, "Humanan" is what's reported. The original document had it right and the visible Acrobat document has it right
I have no clue how this is happening. It's either an InDesign CS3 problem or a Distiller problem

No, it is a bold font (Times New Roman Bold).

I'm starting to think that tagging is a little buggy to begin with, because the actual header reads as follows (it's two lines because it's in a double columned format):
Production, Use,
and Human Exposure
And if I delete the tag and re-tag it as text, copying the whole selection and pasting it (or bookmarking it) gives "P P P P P P P P" -
Can't get smart playlist to do what I want
I'm trying to create a smart playlist for my Mac related videos (MacWorld, Apple etc). This is what my smart playlist looks like:
Match any rule
Artist contains MacWorld
Artist contains ehMac.ca
Artist contains Apple Inc.
Album is not ILife '08 Sound Effects
Video Kind is Movie
The playlist still includes audio from MacWorld and audio from the iLife '08 Sound Effects (I imported them into iTunes as an album). How can I get my smart playlist to just display related video?Problem is that matching ANY rule means if a track in your library matches even ONE SINGLE rule of your Smart Playlist, it will get added. So the last rule doesn't exclude non-videos if one of the previous rules matches an audio file.
I am not at home now to play on iTunes and try to come up more clever, but you could create two playlists, where Smart Playlist #1 is what you have now (either with or without that last rule). And then a new Smart PL where the rules match ALL and the two rules are the last rule in your previous one where it has to be a video AND that last playlist.
But maybe someone can come up with something better. If I think about it, I will look tonight since I can not recall all the various Smart rules available.
Oh wait, just thought of something. One of the rules can be that the type is NOT {xxx} where XXX is the audio file type like MP3, AAC etc. or how ever the rules call them up.

Similar experience here but finally succeeded! Here's the summary
Decided to (finally) update MacBook from SL 10.6.8 to Lion (it can't run ML or Mavericks) so this week purchased from UK Apple store. Received redemption code from Apple via email after couple of days and successfully redeemed this in Apps Store.
Under Purchases in Apps Store clicked on "download" and nothing happened! Clicking on the app name "OS X Lion" gave the message "The item you've requested is not currently available in the UK Store". Contacted support but got no useful help there.....
Following day went back to Apps Store and tried again clicking Download - still nothing (apparently - see below) so started thinking upgrade unlikely and £14 wasted.
A little later noticed new icon in Dock and investigating it said downloading Lion - checked Activity Monitor and indeed my internet connection was being hammered. At a little over 4Gb got an error message saying download could not complete (needless to say not happy) and download icon disappeared!!
So with nothing to lose reclicked Download in Apps Store and again no obvious activity and this time no new download icon in Dock - decided to check Activity Monitor again (just in case) and again high level of download activity! Maybe, just maybe, I thought and after about 90 minutes the Lion install screen appeared!
Have now backed up the Installer and successfully installed 10.7.4
I can't offer any explanation why it finally worked - Apps Store still shows "Download" not "Installed" as I would expect and the item is "..still not available.."! -
I buy an OSX upgrade; I get a redemption code; and, in the Mac Store App, 'It's not available in the U.S. store….What the frick? Is this a joke, Apple?

Well, if you didn't keep it in your iTunes library, on your computer, & then back that data up, you're out of luck if it's no longer available in the App store.
Apple warns to backup your purchases for this very reason. -

Get an iTunes gift card & redeem that in iTunes using your existing Apple ID.

You installed a hacked app, originally from the Mac App Store. It contains the receipt for a different app, downloaded using an account that you don't control. You need to identify and remove the hacked app.

At least one of the items listed in the search window is not among your purchases in the App Store. Move each such item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator password. Empty the Trash.
Log out and log back in. Test.
