Tagging eMail in Mavericks

Is it possible to tag individual eMails in mavericks?
I know I can save the eMails to a text file or word doc etc, but what if I want to tag the eMail itself??  without the step of saving it to another kind of file?

Not really what you're looking for, but here's a way in Finder.
First search (⌘F).
Then press , then [other]
Then Select  "Flagged", or "Flag Color" (Check "In Menu" to make searching later easier)

  • Email in Mavericks OS

When writing an email in Mavericks OS, when editing text, placing the cursor is off back several characters... example, if I type "Dear sir or madam...", and place my cursor in front of the "s" in sir... it begins typing several characters away.
Just noticed when I try to edit the text of this message it does the same thing...

I called apple support about this. - the tech had me delete the file library/preferences/com.apple.mail-shared.plist .
That seems to have cured the problem for now.

  • Any way to restore the ML color coding instead of the tag system in maverick

do not care for the tag system with maverick is there any way to restore the color tagging of the the entire file name with maverick

Path Finder, but may not be finally tested with Mavericks. And every update to the operating system has the potential to render third-party Finder replacement solutions inoperable or unstable.

  • Unable to Archive Emails in Mavericks!

I am unable to archive emails in Mavericks.
    This is what happens:
    1. I am archiving emails in one or all mailboxes and then I switch to a different mailbox in Mail.
    3. Then I switch back again to the previous mailbox and all the emails I tried to archive earlier, appear in the same mailbox (inbox)
    Any sollutions?

I've posted this question elsewhere (going to close it now) and I fixed it by selecting "Rebuild" from the Mailbox menu. It took a while to complete (see the floating activity window), but once that was done, Archiving worked.
Oddly it worked for me on some messages but not others, and there was no pattern to which worked (from, to, subject, etc.)
Try this and let's see if it works for you too.

  • Tagging email received on iPhone?

I have my work email set up as IMAP on my iPhone. Problem is, I can not tag email I receive on my iPhone. When I get to my office I would like to see what emails, despite having read them, still require my attention. At this point I have to go through them all over again when I get to work to find those that I need to respond to.

Just create another folder on your IMAP server, call it "Needs Attention". Move the emails to this folder.

  • Label or tag bug in Maverick. Very strange

Something strange. Today I have realised I don't see tags when I am in open/save dialog of Indesign.
Then I have started to look in other programs with similar succes. Not a single program i have opened didn't showed tags.
Then i right clicked in Safari open dialog on one file and i got option to tag that file. After tagging nothing has changed in finder but miraculously other tags had shown as small dot right of filename. And when i have returned to indesign open dialog all my tags looked as 10.8 os style - coloured name? Other programs are now showing tags but in maverick style, as coloured dot.
Sorry about my bad English, not native.

  • I can no longer attach a PDF to Outlook email in Mavericks OSX even though I have Mac Outlook selected as my email client. (It worked under Mountain Lion)

I used to have a problem with Acrobat Pro X not recognizing Mac Outlook as my email client when using the 'SHARE' function under Acrobat Pro X . Then it was fixed and worked most of the time, although I occasionally had to go back and select Outlook as my default email in Preferences. However, I recently upgraded from Mac OSX Mtn Lion to Mavericks, and now it does't work AGAIN. It hangs up my Acrobat, Causing a Force Quit every time I try this! Very frustrating. I know I can just attach it to an email from my desktop, but it would be nice if the "Attach to Email" function in Acrobat actually worked. BTW, I am using Acrobat Pro X 10.1.10.

I, too am wondering if it's the download site. I am not aware of any way to download Outlook Mac 2011 alone from any site including Microsoft's.
It is common for unscrupulous sites to offer desirable but pirated software for a modest price, but serve it up with a dose malware. They get you money, possible a credit card number, your e-mail, your IP address, and all you get is pain.
There was an "Outlook Express" for Mac that was freely distrubuted but I'll pretty sure that it never ran natively under OSX. The first OSX native version fo Office:Mac was Office X, and it introduced Entourage as the Mac mail client.
IF Fast Hosts is your ISP, I'd certainly talk to them to figure out what you downloaded.

  • How to send GROUP email in Mavericks?

Sending email to Contact Groups in Mail doesn't appear to be working in Mavericks anymore.  We use to be able to type the Group name, click enter, then all addresses appear.  Now it just disappears with no email addresses added.

Steve, I just saw a post by another person that provided a work around which works for me:
A workaround for sending an email to a group in Contacts, might be right-clicking on a group and choosing Send email to "{group name}".

  • TS3276 How do I open Microsoft word documents in a Email since Maverick does not recognize MS Word?

How do I open a Microsoft Word cocument in a Email since I upgraded to Maverick. Maverick does not recognize MS Word, Excel and Power Point.

MS Office 2008 and 2011 work fine in Mavericks. What version are you using? You can always use a program such as Open Office to open the docs.

  • Is there a way to import Outlook 2010 emails  to Mavericks Mail without 3rd party software?

I'm hoping that there is a fairly straight-forward way this can be done.
My friend has just purchased a MacBook Air with Mavericks operating system.  This is her first Mac and she needs to get all her old business emails onto her new MacBook.
She paid for '1 on 1' Apple support and had a session with an 'expert' yesterday - taking along her old PC laptop in the hope that he could help her.  He basically told her she should 'start a new life using Mail'.  This is not what she needed to hear.
I'm using Mail version 5.3 on my 5 year old MacBook with OS X 10.7.5.  I don't want to give her incorrect advice but my version of Mail allows one to Import mailboxes but not, unfortunately, it would seem emails from Microsoft programs for the PC.
    My question is this -
Once she has created an Outlook Data File (.pst format) is there a way she can convert this to .mbox format so that the data can be imported into Mavericks Mail without the use of third-party software?
I'm sure that she's certainly not the first person who has faced this situation but, from the attitude of the (less than helpful) Apple help person I fear that the answer may not be yes.
    Cheers

Do you know where she should look on her Outlook program to find this out?  She hasn't started using Mail yet because she hasn't been able to transfer her emails - so she's still sending/receiving emails from her laptop PC.
No idea, I try not to have anything to do with Outlook except provide a way out of it for the sensible. But aren't you an Outlook user?
Here's the link to the site I found -
    http://www.outlooktomail.com/buy-now-for-mac/
That should be fine, it is the same as the one in the Mac app store (which would be the preferred version to use)
My 'help' situation is a little worse than it would first seem - we're in different countries (very grateful for Viber) - her attention span for matters technological is rather short so I'm trying to make everything as painless as possible - and yes, she has backups of her backups so all should be well in that regard.
Thanks so much for your help.

    You're welcome.

  • How to change bounce message for spam tagged email?

    Hello,
I'm checking outgoing email messages for spam. I will send bounce to email sender (user from my domain) if message is tagged as positive or suspected spam. ok, I can set it, but how can I change text in bounce message?
default bounce if mail is tagged as spam is:
Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.
    Subject: FW: something
    Sent: 7/12/2009 8:33 PM
The following recipient(s) could not be reached:
[email protected] on 7/12/2009 8:35 PM
The e-mail system was unable to deliver the message, but did not report a specific reason. Check the address and try again. If it still fails, contact your system administrator.
    <smtp.domain.com #5.0.0 smtp; 5.x.0 - Message bounced by administrator (delivery attempts: 0)>
^^ but there is no information for the sender that message is not possible deliver, because is tagged as spam.
Is it possible to change this default message?
    (AsyncOS: v6.5.2-101)
    martin

You are correct that it doesn't appear that the Positive Spam or Suspect Spam setting doesn't appear to give you any leeway on using a different bounce profile/message to whomever you bounce it back to.
You may want to consider this workaround.
    1. In the Action, change it to "Deliver"
    2. In the Advanced section of both the Positive and Suspect spam, there is a section labeled "Add Custom Header". Add a custom header like the following:
    X-Internal-Spam-Message: true
    3. Then, since this message will still go through the outgoing content filters, you can create an outgoing content filter that looks for the "X-Internal-Spam-Message" header. If that header exist, then the outgoing content filter will match. For the action, you may need to use the "notify()" action and notify the original sender that it could not get delivered since it was detected to be spam. There is an option to attach the original message. The reason you need to use the notify() instead of the bounce() is because bounce doesn't currently have the option to specify which bounce profile to use.
You can only specify a different bounce profile in the "Mail Policies > Destination Controls".
Let me know if you have any question.

  • Why do I have to use safari to download attachments from my emails in mavericks?

I would like to download attachments from my email using a different internet browser. I like to use firefox but it seems if you recently upgraded to Mavericks. You may only download attachments with safari. Maybe firefox needs an update or apple really wants us to try the new safari (What I think) which is annoying to contantly learn new browsers because they have a new one released. Has anyone found a solution to this?

Firefox is working for me with Mavericks just as it was working with Mountain Lion. But I use POP mail and Thunderbird, not webmail.  So I cannot test what you are trying to do, download attachments.

  • Deleting multiple emails in Maverick

I only just downloaded Mavericks this past week.  I don't like how we have to use the "shift" or "command" key to delete multiple emails.  I preferred and found it simpler to just use my mouse and click and highlight. Anyone know if this might revert back ?  LOL

    I wouldn't count on it.

  • Can't delete multiple draft emails with Mavericks

I have the problem of Mail saving multiple drafts of my emails on the server. The threads for users earlier versions of OS X, suggest that the solution is to uncheck the 'Store draft messages on the server' option, in the Mail account preferences. However, I find that since upgrading to Mavericks it isn't possible to do this permanently - I uncheck the box and save the change, and when I next look, the box has been rechecked without my doing anything.
I notice one other person using Mavericks reports the same problem - has anyone any suggestions how to resolve this?

I found the answer on another thread - works perfectly - Steve Rhyne has the answer:  https://discussions.apple.com/message/23500944#23500944
