Tagging files for reflow under vista

On my old computer (with windows 2000) I was able to move files from the laptop to my HP Ipaq 2790b and I could use the reflow feature on the Ipaq in Reader. When I moved to a new laptop and Vista I tried to get Adobe reader for pocket PC from the Adobe website and it said there were technical problems. I was afraid to try installing it with that warning. If I just drag a file from my laptop to the CF card in Microsoft Sync mode I can install the file on the Ipaq but the file is not tagged and as such I can't read it in reflow mode. I can still read the files in reflow that were installed last year on the Ipaq so I know it's not a problem with the Ipaq. Bill T.

To Truly Julie:
Thanks for your help. I was afraid that was the answer, but hoped I was just missing something. I've ordered a new laptop with XP and plan on putting the Vista machine in the closet for a while. Again thanks for the help.
Bill T.

  • Tag files for rendering JSF components

    Hi people!
         It is possible to render component JSF using Tag-Files? (WEB-INF/tags).
    I am having problems with context, seems that the JSF does not recognize pageContext.
    Ex:
    My Tag-File
    <%@ attribute name="nameproperty" required="true" rtexprvalue="true" %>
    <%@ attribute name="size"           required="true" rtexprvalue="true" %>
    <h:inputText id="${nameproperty}"      size="#{size}" />
    My JSP
    <%@ taglib tagdir="/WEB-INF/tags" prefix="mayTags"%>
    <f:subview id="id001" >
         <myTags:myText propriedade="name_test" size="30" />
    </f:subview>
    In this in case that the size always is empty, because it does not recognize the target pageContext, but if I to place the size in the target of request already recognizes.
    EX:
    <%@ attribute name="nameproperty"      required="true" rtexprvalue="true" %>
    <%@ attribute name="size"           required="true" rtexprvalue="true" %>
    <c:set var"size" value="${size}" scope="request" >
    <h:inputText id="${nameproperty}"      size="#{size}" />
    In part it decides my problem, but it causes another error, is that if in my JSP it will have two fields (this is more than common) calling tag-file, there the size placed in request is always of it I finish field.
    Ex:
    <%@ taglib tagdir="/WEB-INF/tags" prefix="mayTags"%>
    <f:subview id="paisMan" >
         <myTags:myText propriedade="name_test" size="30" />
         <myTags:myText propriedade="name_test_2" size="70" />
    </f:subview>
    In this case all the two inputText would have size 70.
    It has some thing that I can make to solve this problem?
    Thanks for any help.

    You are right in saying that decoding has nothing to
    do with rendering per se.I will go even further than Erik did, and dispute this statement.
    Consider that you are generating an <input> tag for a text field. Among other things, you have to generate a "name" attribute. Who decides what to put there? The renderer that actually created the markup.
    The "renderer" really does
    two completely different things. But both should
    nevertheless be separate from the component
    implementation itself. You could still have the
    renderer doing the decoding part, which arguably would
    rarely change, and somehow delegate the actual
    rendering to an implementation in a tag file.Whether you implement decoding in a separate class or inside the component, what request parameter name do you look for? It is not reasonable to assume that ALL possible renderers will choose the same parameter name ... hence, decoding and encoding are inextricably linked (the code doing the decoding has to know what kind of markup the code doing the encoding actually created). In JavaServer Faces, the current APIs create that linkage by requiring that the decode and encode be done by the same class (either the component, if you are not delegating, or the renderer if you are).

  • JSP 2.0 tag files for rendering JSF components

    Over the weekend I read up on new JSP 2.0 features (dunno why I waited this long??) ... I really liked the tag file feature ...
    I was wondering if it were a good idea to use these tag files as renderers for JSF components - ok, this ties us to a JSP only solution but how many in here would be using a non-JSP solution anyway?
    I was thinking along the foll. lines:
    <myComponent id="myComponent1" attr1="value1" attr2=value2">
        <myComponentRenderer var="myComponent1" />
    </myComponent>
    myComponentRenderer can be implemented as a tag file in myComponentRenderer.tag ... The myComponent tag delegates the business logic processing to its associated UIComponent and then sets this component as a pageContext attribute with the id "myComponent1" ... myComponentRenderer in turn gets a reference to this UIComponent and renders it ...
    Again, if one wants a different way of rendering, make another tag file myComponentRenderer2.tag or change myComponentRenderer.tag itself ...
    Indeed, this may not work for components with complicated rendering logic but I believe that's only the 20% case ...
    Comments?

  • Keyword tag file for export

    Is there a keyword tag file I can export to use in Lightroom?
    Thanks, Doug Smith

    I tried that
    What did you try?
    PE only gives me the option of writing an .xml file
    I already explained there are several ways to go here, and so I can't understand why you feel the only option is writing an .xml file (which, by the way, is not one I am familiar with)
    It's like the fact that LR won't recognize my 6,000+ .png files,
    It's like the fact? Oh.
    Lightroom does not recognize .png files. They cannot be imported into Lightroom. You need to convert them to .jpg or .tif or .psd if you want them to be indexed in Lightroom. Which of course is a different issue than the one I thought we were addressing.

  • Nikon D300 Raw files for 64bit windows vista machine not appearing in Photoshop CS3 raw

    I purchased a new 64bit computer running Vista. I have installed Photoshop CS3 including the latest updates and the 4.6 (Camera Raw.8bi) raw update file. I included the raw file in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS3\File Formats. I have purged cache in Bridge and I still cannot view the raw files in Bridge. I only see a gray square with a Blue NEF. I can open the files in Photoshop however. What can I do to see the files in Bridge?

    Nikon encrypts RAW file data
    ByMichael R. Tomkins, The Imaging Resource
    (Wednesday, April 20, 2005 - 02:16 EDT)
    A news item posted on Sunday by PhotoshopNews.com reports on comments from Thomas Knoll, one of the original authors of Adobe Photoshop, relating to the RAW file format used in Nikon's D2X and D2Hs digital SLRs.
    <IFRAME src="http://208.43.255.194/cgi-bin/advertpro/banners.fpl?region=112&keyword=NULL" height="250" width="300" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" vspace="0" hspace="0" frameborder="0" align="middle" scrolling="no"> <A href="http://208.43.255.194/cgi-bin/advertpro/blink.fpl?region=112&slot=1" target="_blank"> <IMG src="http://208.43.255.194/cgi-bin/advertpro/bimg.fpl?region=112&slot=1&keyword=NULL" border="0" width="300" height="250" alt="Click Here!"> </A> </IFRAME>
    Thomas Knoll is currently the chief engineer for Adobe Camera Raw, the company's RAW file conversion software. The PhotoshopNews item references a forum thread started by Mr. Knoll in Adobe's official user forums, where he reveals that .NEF RAW files from the latest Nikon digital SLRs encrypt data relating to the white balance setting the photo was shot with.
    RAW file formats vary significantly between digital camera manufacturers (and often, between different models in a manufacturer's lineup), and the manufacturers generally won't publicly disclose the specification for the RAW file format(s) they use. Some will offer plugins or software development kits (SDKs) that enable their RAW files to be opened in third-party applications, but these generally have some limitations attached to their use.
    In addition, the companies generally offer RAW file conversion software of their own, either as part of their camera bundles or as an added-cost option. Nikon offer their pro SLRs with PictureProject software that includes limited control over the RAW file conversion process, and then offer the more feature-rich Nikon Capture conversion software for an added cost. In a recent publication on the company's Nikon Pro website, it suggested that it feels Nikon Capture is better-suited to photographers, while Adobe's Photoshop is more suited to graphic artists. Still, different photographers have different workflow preferences, and for this reason third parties such as Adobe often reverse engineer the RAW file formats, allowing them to be opened in their own software - sometimes with even better image quality than the original manufacturer's software.
    In a way, it is understandable that companies would want to encrypt RAW file data from their products - it allows them to pick and choose which competitors are able to open RAW files shot with their products, and allows them to generate new revenue streams from the sale of their own RAW file conversion software (or, if they choose, the sale of licenses allowing competitor programs to access their RAW file data). Nikon is not the first company we're aware of to encrypt data in RAW files; Sony's Cyber-shot DSC-F828 RAW files contain encrypted data. In that instance, however, Sony granted permission for Adobe to decrypt the data in their software. At the current time, Mr. Knoll states that while Adobe has signed a non-disclosure agreement that grants them access to use Nikon's SDK, they have not received any response to requests from Adobe that the company be allowed to decrypt the white balance data, which would allow closer integration with their software than is possible with the SDK.
    The fact that Nikon has chosen to encrypt a portion of the RAW file data would not be particularly problematic for third parties to overcome, were it not for certain laws enacted around the world in recent years. One such law is the United States' "Digital Millennium Copyright Act", often referred to as the DMCA, which makes it illegal to produce technology that can circumvent measures designed to protect copyright. One could argue that Nikon's encryption of the white balance data is just such a measure - which would make it an offense for a third party without permission to make software that could decrypt the original white balance setting used by the camera when the photo was shot. One could equally argue, however, that the copyright over the RAW file belongs to the photographer who captured the image - and hence the choice over what is done with that copyrighted work is entirely up to the photographer.
    Unfortunately, there's no clear-cut answer, and short of a company or programmer finding themselves in court for having cracked the encryption, there isn't likely to be such an answer any time soon. This presents a problem for third parties attempting to make their own RAW file conversion routines for the D2X and D2Hs, as if they don't want to risk opening themselves up to legal action, they aren't able to determine the original white balance setting. Hence, they must either request the white balance setting from the user as the RAW file is converted, or attempt to determine an appropriate white balance setting automatically (which would not necessarily be the same as that determined by the camera itself).
    Nikon hasn't communicated their reasons for encrypting the white balance information in their latest NEF formats, but we have to say it doesn't sound like a very good idea. While Nikon Capture does indeed offer excellent capabilities for people to manipulate images saved in NEF formats, many photographers and organizations have already established workflows based on Adobe's RAW plugin for Photoshop and other image-processing tools. The biggest consequence of this move on Nikon's part seems likely to be to push more photographers onto other camera platforms. It's hard to imagine that increased sales of Nikon Capture will make up the revenue lost from camera and lens sales going forward.

  • System Control Manager for GX710 under Vista x64?

    OK So i purchased a GX710-250 about 3 months ago and iv been hooked on it .  I just ordered the extended battery from etech4sale.com and i loaded up Vista Ultimate X64 on it.  Everything working great on it as all the items have 64 bit drivers but i ran into a snag with the SCM software for it.  I notice that That the SCM software is only 32X but there is SCM Out there under some other laptop that MSI so i wounder if i can run the software from it on my laptop.  I really just need the Volume Control for in game  but i would to have my little UGI flash up and show me whats going on.  Has any one tried using the SCM from another laptops yet?  was it compatible with the laptop?   where there any issues?  just throwing this out there since i don't think MSI would go back and rebuild the SCM for 64X Vista.
    PS
    Vista 64 is the future....get use to it.  I love it and the Emu system built into it is good enough already.

      o well i still got 2 years to get use to this system and all so i don't mine installing it on my pc...anyways when the time comes and sooner or later everyone will have to upgrade in some format... i just hope 7 will go up to 64 bit also.  I've been on 64 for about a month now and I've seen no performance decrease but in fact seen performance improvement .  My Friends and I see it its time for a generational leap in technology and have a windows system be only 64 bit.  But knowing Microsoft they are going to make Vista and Windows 7 the transitional OS like they did back in the early 90 with windows 3.0 and 3.1.  So i want to know whats going to be the Windows 95 of the 2000 and force a new 64x standard . I'm sure im going to keep my XP Cd until 2010 when they kill support for XP .

    The tags are stored in places.sqlite in the Tags folder and are also stored in a JSON backup.<br />

  • Ojspc (with JDeveloper 10.1.3.2.0) keeps recompiling .tag files.

    I find it takes an extremely long time to compile my web application with 75 .jsp files (14188 non-blank lines) and 24 .tag files (438 non-blank lines). About 24 minutes, in fact. I attribute this to the utility insisting on recompiling each and every .tag file for every .jsp that uses them.
    During translation, I see the javac process start up several times, and I inspected the javacXXX temporary file that gets created (it stores the VM arguments for each compilation) whenever Oracle needs to compile a page. Now compilation is supposed to happen after translation, but it still happens repeatedly for the same .tag file. If the .tag file is used in each of the 75 .jsp files, then it gets compiled 75 times! I even tried adding the temporary directory where Oracle outputs its .class files for these .tag files to the compilation classpath, and it didn't have any effect.
    I also can't precompile the .tag files in an attempt to force it to use already compiled .tag files, as ojspc doesn't seem to want to translate/compile them on its own (but only as a result of a .jsp that needs them).
    Here are the options in my build.xml:
      <target name="ojspc">
        <path id="ojspc.classpath">
          <fileset dir="${source.web.path}/WEB-INF/lib">
            <include name="*.jar" />
          </fileset>
          <!-- The following is where the .tag files end up after being automatically translated,
               then compiled (even though the compiled versions are .class files and should go in
               oracle/generatedClass, below) -->
          <pathelement path="${build.root}/oracle/generatedJava" />
        </path>
        <property name="ojspc.classpath" refid="ojspc.classpath" />
        <mkdir dir="${build.root}/oracle" />
        <mkdir dir="${build.root}/oracle/generatedClass" />
        <mkdir dir="${build.root}/oracle/generatedJava" />
        <oracle:compileJsp verbose="true"
          appRoot="${build.webapp.path}"
          dir="${build.root}/oracle/generatedClass"
          srcDir="${build.root}/oracle/generatedJava"
          addClassPath="${ojspc.classpath}">
          <fileset dir="${build.webapp.path}">
            <include name="**/*.jsp" />
          </fileset>
        </oracle:compileJsp>
      </target>There's nothing particularly memorable about the ant output. Everything succeeds. But 24 minutes for 15k lines of JSP sounds pretty ridiculous... this whole endeavor was an attempt to reduce initial page hit lags after deployment, but ..... 24 minutes??? :)
    Thanks,
    Scott

  • Programming under vista 64bit

    Hi everybody,
    i'm looking for some stuff for 64bit support.
    I installed JDK 6.0 for amd64 under vista 64bit (I have a core 2 duo process).
    I did'nt find a good software which support 64Bit (eclipse support only win32 not 64 at all).
    Here is some stuff i'm searching for 64 support:
    - Log4j
    - Eclipse (or another IDE..)
    - Java 3D (installed with amd64 version under a core 2 duo computer)
    - JAI (did'nt find anything about a 64 bit version)
    - JMF (found for linux... not for vista :( can compile sources anyelse )
    - ANT ( same as JMF, found for linux)
    I need some help please, i'm looking on apache.org, eclipse.org... posted some topics.
    Please help.
    Thank you

    I have done some research on this and must say it is not much info about 64bit which can give me any info on how many actually uses it.
    My stats does not at all show anything about different Explorer browsers for 32 and 64 bit.
    And there is no stat for 64bit system.
    From the info I got it seems to be possible to run both the 32bit browser and the 64bit on a 64bit Vista. Does this give a difference for support for QTVR and for other Quicktime movies?
    I can see that there is no Flash plugin for 64 bit as well so is there also a problem with flash panoramas?

    I am suffering a bout of duplications in my Windows Photo Gallery under Vista. I am getting duplicates, triplicates and quadruple versions of the original file.
    Despite turning off all Autoplay media types to 'No Action', I get random duplicates when I try to enter update pictures from camera or memory chip through a USB port. There is no 'Enter Updates Only' option, and Microsoft says that this is unnecessary as
    duplication is prevented. The duplicates however appear with 'copy' in the file name after the image numbering system. My preference is to view the memory contents via 'Computer' - select and open the port, and view, then copy and paste into Photo
    Gallery.  Photo Gallery kicks in to view the chip correctly, but often/always (?) promptly uploads uncommanded. It did not used to do this, only in the last year or two.
    What do I do, it is driving me crazy ?

    Hi,
    As I know, for Duplicate issue, it might be caused by a corrupted database, please try to rebuild it as a test.

  • Building LabVIEW Executables That Prompt For Administrative Rights Under Vista

    Hi Everyone,
    I've discovered the hard way the differences between Vista and XP...  I've got a compiled LabVIEW program that needs administrative privledges to run.  However, when a user launches the program without proper rights under Vista, it doesn't prompt for administrative rights, it just runs and produces strange errors.  Is there a way to make the program prompt the user for administrative rights so that they don't always have to right-click and select "Run as administrator"?  I heard mention of a "manifest" file that can do this, but I haven't found any details.
    Thanks!

    I have no solution, but do you know why have to be an Admin to run your program? Do you write data to c:\program files? or any other 'forbidden' location?
