Is it possible to sort/search tracks using content-based tags?
I have my music in playlists by genre but I'd like additional, quick sorting options such as 'instrumental' 'nostalgic' or 'exercise'. For instance, if I want to quickly make a playlist of music about rainbows, i could search 'rainbow' and come up with a list of all songs I tagged as 'rainbow' that are in my library, rather than seeking them out manually.
(Similar to how this post is tagged as 'itunes' 'tags' 'tag_help' 'tagging' 'content' and searching any of the terms will bring it up.)

You can add your own keywords like "rainbows" to the "grouping" tag or the "comment" tag, if your song is in format that takes tags, like .aif, .mpg or .m4a.
Then you can build a smart playlist (file menu) by defining: "grouping" contains "rainbows".

Is there any way to go beyond the 99 TRACKS of content limitation for a DVD

I don't think there is much hope of getting the solution to my dilemma that I'm hoping for, but perhaps someone out there has overcome a similiar situation to mine.
As you can see from the topic of my post, I'm hoping there might be some way to get DVD SP to 'work-around' the DVD-standard of 99 tracks of content. To give you a better idea of why I'm trying to do this I'll just briefly outline my project.
I'm creating a FAMILY TREE DVD with multiple menus (each menu representing a specific family). The object is to encompass extended family as well as ancestry up to the current generation. The names for each person that appear on the menu are links to a slideshow (and usually a very short one at that - perhaps 3 to 5 pix). As you've guessed, I've reached the limit of 99 slideshows but with barely having gone past the 1.5 GB mark.
In order to meet the desired objective of this project, it would be preferable to have all the slideshows contained on the one DVD as this way, the interconnections between the various families can be more easily demonstrated.
Anyway, I know its a long shot as I've tried to do some research on this myself and have come up empty.
Any help or advice offered would be greatly appreciated.

99 title limit - this includes Tracks and Stories!
I would imagine a project like this would be possible with chapter end jumps although ,like you guys said, it would be a PITA.
No way to get beyond the 99 title limit in DVDSP. Tracks and stories are counted as 1 title each so the limits includes both tracks and stories. I could see having up to 99 Tracks and 99 chapters while including chapter end jumps for each slide show section. Like Aldolfo said this might put pressure on a player. Remember DVDSP is still an abstraction layer tool, hiding most of the mundane DVD details from the author.
This title would be a breeze in a spec tool, like the studios use to author their titles. Your still limited to 99 tracks (VTS) but these tools give you access to such things as PGCs and Programs. In fact, this title could be done with 1 track(VTS) in such a tool.
and....I wouldn't want to target 9801 separate Buttons

Hi Rob,
From the screen shots it looks like your script is not formatted properly (you may refer to 'Paladin Script' in 'Sample Project' to get an idea of how the script should be formatted.).
Further please follow the steps mentioned below to use Story to PP workflow.
Create a new Film script in Adobe Story
Create scene heading – INT. LOCATION – Day (these will show up in the outline view panel on left hand side)
Hit enter, hit TAB
Enter the name of the speaker, hit TAB or ENTER
Copy over the transcribed text
Build your script this way
Number scenes from the production menu
Export ASTX file for your script : File->Export->.astx
Open Premiere Pro
Create a new project, bring in media
In the project pane, find the "Scene" column
For the clip that contains the spoken text, assign the same scene number to the clip as you have in the story script (lets say both are scene 1)
Click out of the scene box in the project panel in Ppro
Right click on the scene that you just assigned a scene number to and select – attach Story script
Select the .astx fle you exported in step 8
Click ok
You should now see the script data in the metadata panel for the clip in the metadata panel.
You can now run speech to text based on "Embedded Script metadata" to time align spoken word to the script.

Ideally, the program you want to delete has an 'uninstaller' application and that should delete all the files. If that isn't available you could download and run this free app: http://www.freemacsoft.net/appcleaner/
Probably not as thorough but it will do the job of ridding you mac of most of the files associated with the app you no longer want.

A script that can be used to track text content changes in indesign?

Is there a possibility a script that can be used to track text content changes in indesign. My Indesign software's version is CS3. As you can see below, I have deleted some texts and added some. I did it in another software.
I have been searched for a long time. Because of my poor English, I still can't come up with any Object Model related to the script yet.
Here is some idea of mine:
Use the script tracking my revising texts. When I add some new texts, the texts will be underlined. When I delete some texts, the position of the first character of the removed text will be added a small red triangle or something.

I think you are telling me that I can open the Indeisgn document by using the software InCopy. Then I have change some contents. InCopy will help me tracking the revision.

ITunes is randomly deleting ID3 tags track number data and album artwork

A few weeks ago iTunes 10.5.3.3 starting deleting the amount of tracks available for an album and its artwork when I would play a song. Thus "4 of 12" would go to just "4". And in some cases the artwork I've had for years and years (since iTunes 6) is disappearing for an entire album when only one song is played as well. There is no pattern or any discernable reasoning of what tracks its choosing to do this with. It's really disheartening when you factor in all the time and effort involved for nearly 10 years with making all of that data correct and adding customized artwork for 10,000+ songs for it to now just start disappearing randomly.
I suspect my iTunes database file is corrupt, however, how do you fix that without losing all of your Playlists, Artwork, etc.?
I've loved and had zero problems with this software until a few weeks ago. I'm a happy owner of multiple iPods for all this time and now this is disconcerting.

The missing total track count numbers strongly points to Windows Media Player. It has a nasty habit of "refreshing" the metadata when you didn't ask it to. This can happen even if you don't use the program as a rule as it may be launched in the background when viewing certain media content on the web. Next time iTunes has a reason to inspect the tag, e.g. during playback, it will reveal the new data from the tag. In essense the damages is already done but iTunes has yet to notice all of it.

Pcs:if tag error in Content Server presentation template

This probably isn't the right discussion group, but I couldn't find a group to which this inquiry applies.
Anyway, I'm working on Content Server (5.0.2) presentation template code, using a pcs:if tag, that looks something like this:

After clicking "Save" or "Validate" (to validate my code), I receive the following error message:
Error: Expected to find an apostrophe (') ending the attribute value, and did not.

In other words, the validator doesn't know how to escape the ampersand (&) inside my string ("Cats & Dogs"). I've tried numerous ways to escape it, but, so far, nothing has worked. Replacing the ampersand with "&" effectively changes the string, so that doesn't work either.
Please let me know if you have a solution to this.

XBox Music - Changes my album tags, track names an...

I have a well organised music collection on my PC with correct album/artist tags. When I copy music over to the phone (Lumia 920) XBox Music ends up replacing some track tags with random artists, track names, album names and artwork. It also doesn't display some album artists despite correct tags. I never had any kind of problem like this on my previous phones (last being HTC Titan on WP 7.8. Has anyone else had this issue and what can be done to fix it?

Adding editable region tags moves my content in non-editable regions

I have a template based on a template (the first with my navigation, and the second is based on the first with a sidebar added). When I add an editable region to the second template, it moves my sidebar down to leave a gap between the nav bar and the top of the sidebar. On the second template I want to add editable regions to the content area and to the sidebar. Even if I don't add any content to the editable reagions and just place the editable regions tags, my sidebar still moves down. I have tried adding two seperate editable regions and also adding one large editable region covering the content area and sidebar and the sidebar moved both times. My content area is a div floated left and the sidebar is a div floated right.
I don't understand why anything is moving when I am only adding tags to make an area editable

Do you have a container that the two divs are in and if so, are you clearing the floats? It's hard to give an answer without seeing the problem page.

Gatewaying and adaptive tags expansion in content types other than html

I notice that the default configuration of the portal does not transform adaptive tags / URLs when the content type is Javascript (ie I am gatewaying a .js file loaded from a <javascript src=".."/> tag in which I want some transformations). Is there a configuration option which determines what file types / content types are transformed which I can set to get transformation in my .js files?

The problem stems from the fact that ProductInformationView_Browse.jsp is blindly executing the <jbo:ViewCriteria> tag on each page rendering.
Internally, the view criteria tag is issuing an executeQuery() on the view object, and this basically sets the current record pointer back to zero. This is why we're never able to scroll more than one page full beyond the initial page full.
I fixed the problem by making the <jbo:ViewCriteria> tag
execute conditionally based on the lack of presence of the jboEvent parameter.
I added the following snippet before the <jbo:ViewCriteria> tag...

I have a situation in which I need to change the contents of a Tagged XMLElement. Then, I need to move the enclosing Text object to another frame.
myXmlElement.contents = "Lorem ipsum" works fine if the new contents is no longer than the original contents. However, if the new contents is longer than the original contents, then the contents for the enclosing Text element only shows the last n characters of the contents, where "n" is the length of the original content.
For example:
if myXmlElement.contents equals "ABC", and I perform myXmlElement.contents = "12345678", then the Text contents becomes "678" (i.e., the last 3 characters, because the length of the original content was 3 characters).
What am i doing wrong?

You have to be careful with text specifiers. I don't know whether the same problems apply to Actionscript (it sounds like they must), but check out this post from Marc Autret and see if it clarifies things.

Tracking of content played off cache

Hi,
Nice little puzzle here. I'm looking to host content, made up of course pages that also have big video files, from a central server so that it can be played by OLM at a far far away place. However, I do not like this idea because of impact on network traffic. But I do have the opportunity to download the content overnight onto the cache of a local server at the far far away place. The content is fully SCORM compliant and will be played by more than one person using the OLM player. What I would like to know is,will progress tracking and assessment scores be passed back to OLM for each user?

Alt tags for Flash content; How do I get rid of them

How to change tag track numbers en masse?

I have nearly 8,000 tracks on my iPod, many of which are for audiobooks stored as music files. In general, the tracks from these audiobooks have useful tag data, with the exception of the track number field that is stored as part of the tag data. I am trying to find a way that will enable me to renumber many tracks at once without having to do it one file at a time.
When I rip audiobook wav files to mp3 the track number data field is automatically inserted according to which track it was on the source CD. However, since many audiobooks have more than one CD, the end result is that I have more than one track that is number 1, number 2, and so on. For example, if an audiobook has 10 CDs each with 10 tracks I end up with 100 tracks in total, but instead of tracks numbered 1 through 100, I get 10 tracks with track number 1, ten with track number 2, and so forth.
This causes a problem in the way the iPod arranges tracks. My iPod puts them in the correct order when I access a book using "playlist," but if I want to access the book by "artist" or "album" it does not put them in the proper order. It orders them not by track name, but by track number. This is a problem because there are multiple files with the number "1" in the track number tag field. Whereas I need to be able to go from disc 1/track 1 to disc 1/track 2, instead the iPod goes from disc 1/track 1 to disc 2/track 1.
I could, of course, create a separate "album" for each CD in a multi-CD audiobook, but then I would have way more "albums" than I really need to have listed.
Does anyone know of a method (or an application) that I can use to renumber tracks easily and quickly? I would be ideal to find something as easy as this would be to do in an Excel spreadsheet. But to renumber them one file at a time is simply overwhelming.

instead the iPod goes from disc 1/track 1 to disc
2/track 1.
Right click on any of these files and do a Get Info. Notice that there is, in fact, a Disc number field. So you can make disc numbers 1/10, 2/10 and so on.
iTunes and the iPod are both smart enough to recognize that there are disc numbers there and act correctly. So it'll start with Disc 1, play all that disc, then go to Disc 2, and so forth. It's just a matter of having correct disc number tags.
You can tag disc numbers for a whole disc at once. Simply select all the songs in a single disc (hold SHIFT or CTRL while selecting the songs), right click, Get Info, and you get the mass tag editor screen. Add the disc number info for this disc, and it'll tag that info to all those songs. Repeat for each disc.
