Take some time to get to know Safari 4
There are no immediate problems that I can really find in the all-new improved safari 4. Most people are bellyaching because they don’t want to accept change, but rather be stock, in the old ways, they grew accustom too. Can any one of us change yesterday? No I think not, so why not just accept the new change, and give your self some time to get use to it. Change is uncomfortable for any body. Today, no body wants to spend the extra time to lean and be open to new changes, and because of that, people are having all sorts of problems getting around the new changes that were implemented in safari 4. If we spend a little time and be a little more patient about change, maybe safari will not be so hard to figure out.
Well said t&t and I'm 100% with you. I can't fault Safari 4 and am already so used to it that it's just like an old friend, but with a **** of a lot of improvements under the hood that people can't see and if they can't see it they won't believe there has been any change. Lot of people here do have genuine issues with their systems but so many just can't accept the slightest UI change or it's the end of the world as they know it. But each to there own, just glad to hear a positive comment here in the E.R.

If a HTTPRequest is going to take some time to get response
It is like an export process (exporting database-tables data into a text file). Depending upon the selection criteria, this might take a while sometimes.
1. Users want to see some progress bar.
Is this possible in a web application?
2. If we are not giving continual/dynamic progress bar, user does not want stay waiting on this page, without knowing what is happening at the server, where they can just proceed with other processes/links while this process is running. For this option, I was thinking of opening a new HTTP window just to show a static message like "Export Process in Progress" and once the process is done, the response will change the message to "Complete".
Is there any other solution to this?

Congrats on the new phone abochoa! Ann154 & gina7239 are right. The SIM activation can take a bit, and it's best to make sure the SIM was meant for the number you're activating. Here's a great site for help with the initial set up and activation of your new iPhone 5: http://bit.ly/Vl0NrS. If it takes more than an hour to activate, try powering the phone down and removing the SIM for a minute to refresh the phone's connection to the WiFi network and activation process.

When I lunch iDVD alone or when exporting some iMovie project some times I get this alert:

But I have a SuperDrive I have a MacBook Pro 2.16Ghz blablabla... then I click ok and I burn my iDVD project. But then some times it appear again. I belive the alert start when I did the update to de 6.0.3 I don't know what cause this alert to appear and I don't know if I chose (don't show this message again) would be the right thing to do. Resetting PRAM and NVRAM
Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.
If this doesn't fix it, you may need to reset the PMU - the last link tells how to do this.

Spent some time trying to find a Safari download site with no success. I found lots of Safari sites but no Safari download site. Where is the iMac Safari download site?

If your Safari keeps crashing, or if you are updating Safari (or just have) and it is misbehaving:
N.B. Never delete Safari, never run it under Rosetta, don't use proxy settings, and don't change the application's name or move it from the top level of the Applications Folder to a sub-folder.
(If you prefer to download updates via Software Update in the Apple menu (which would ensure that the correct version for your Mac was being downloaded), it is not recommended to allow SU to install major (or even minor) updates automatically. Set Software Update to just download the updater without immediately installing it. There is always the possibility that the combined download and install (which can be a lengthy process) might be interrupted by a power outage or your cat walking across the keyboard, and an interrupted install will almost certainly cause havoc. Once it is downloaded, you can install at a time that suits you. You should make a backup copy of the updater on a CD in case you ever need a reinstall. Alternatively you can download Safari directly:

Input Managers and other plug-ins from third parties can do as much harm as good. They use a security loophole to reach right into your applications' code and change that code as the application starts up. If Safari is crashing, the very first thing to do is clear out your InputManagers folders (both in your own Library and in the top-level Library), log out and log back in, and try again.
So, disable all third party add-ons before updating Safari, as they may not have been updated yet for the new version. Add them back one by one. If something goes awry, remove it again and check on the software manufacturer's website for news of an update to match your version of Safari. Remember: Tiger up to 10.4.10 used Safari 2.0.4, Tiger 10.4.11 uses Safari 4.1.3, Leopard uses Safari 5.0.6, and Snow Leopard uses Safari 5.1.x. If these latest versions of Safari are not the fastest browser you have ever used, then something is wrong!
(Trying to revert to a previous version of Safari can have repercussions, as previous versions of Safari used a completely different webkit on which other applications like iChat, Mail, Dashboard Widgets etc also rely, but if you really want to do this post back for instructions on the safe way to do so.)
Most errors reported here after an update are due to an unrepaired or undetected inherent fault in the system, and/or a third party ad-on. Add-ons that have been frequently mentioned here, among others, for causing such problems are Piclens, Saft, AcidSearch and Pithhelmet, and the dreaded CT Toolbar. If you have them, trash them, and go the developer's sites to see if new versions are available for the latest version of Safari on your current operating system.
You must also ensure that you have downloaded and installed all the correct version for your Mac of Security Updates. These require a restart and a permission repair.
To reiterate, Input Managers reach right into an application and alter its code. This puts the behavior of the affected application outside the control and responsibility of its developers: a recipe for problems. That's not to say that issues absolutely will ensue as a result of Input Managers, but you, as a user, must decide. If the functionality of a specific Input Manager or set thereof is really important to you, you may well choose to assume the associated risk.
Again, the advice is to remove all Input Managers from the following directories:
Hard Disk/Library/InputManagers
Home/Library/InputManagers
especially prior to system updates and updates to Safari (they can always be added back one-by-one later).
Lastly, the Safari updates require a restart of your Mac, and sometimes even a double restart is required. -
If the data network is not available for some time, to get it again we need to restart the phone instead it is not finding the data network instantly. why cant the iphone searches data net work offten if not available. i am totally disappointed with this!

I have set up all the iCloud on my iPad and iPhone both are the latest version but they don't seem to sinc with each other does this take some time? I am connected to the Internet via wifi do I need to turn the mobile data to on on both maybe??

You need to turn the services you want to sync (calendars, contacts etc) on on both devices from settings > iCloud. -
Hai there. i am having a trouble with the garage band apple loops to get into my macbook pro. . i had it some time back and i dont know where it has gone and how it get it back. is there anyone to help me to get the loops back into the browser . i will be grateful to you if some one can help me with it/ thanks.
First check, if you do not accidentally have hidden or filtered your loops:
Uncheck the "Filter for more relevant results" option in the Audio tab of the GarageBand Preferences.
And the drop down menu on top of the Loop Browser should be set to "Loops", not to some Jam Pack or other collection.
If you still don't see any loops, check if you have set your project to a special signature, like 9/8, for that no standard loops do exist.
Then check, if any loops actually are installed in your system Library: Depending on your GarageBand version you should find the standard loops in the Audio folder of your system Library (Application Support > GarageBand):
Your System Drive > Library > Audio > Apple Loops
If the Loops are installed, but GarageBand does not show them, you need to rebuild your Apple Loops Index: See the FAQ for how to do it:
Re-Index GarageBand's Loops
This requires two steps:
erase the old Apple Loops Index by deleting everything in
Your System Drive > Library > Audio > Apple Loops Index
and then rebuilding the Loops Index by dragging the folder containing all of your loops onto the Loop Browser in GarageBand.
If no Loops are installed in your Library, you will have to restore them from your Backup.

Clear operation takes long time and gets interrupted in ThreadGate.doWait
Hi,
We are running Coherence 3.5.3 cluster with 16 storage enabled nodes and 24 storage disabled nodes. We have about hundred of partitioned caches with NearCaches (invalidation strategy = PRESENT, size limit for different caches 60-200K) and backup count = 1. For each cache we have a notion of cache A and cache B. Every day either A or B is active and is used by business logic while the other one is inactive, not used and empty. Daily we load fresh data to inactive caches, mark them as active (switch business logic to work with fresh data from those caches), and clear all yesterday's data in those caches which are not used today.
So at the end of data load we execute NamedCache.clear() operation for each inactive cache from storage disabled node. From time to time, 1-2 times a week, the clear operation fails on one of 2 our biggest caches (one has 1.2M entries and another one has 350K entries). We did some investigations and found that NamedCache.clear operation fires many events within Coherence cluster to clear NearCaches so that operation is quite expensive. In some other simular posts there were suggestions to not use NamedCache.clear, but rather use NamedCache.destroy, however that doesn't work for us in current timelines. So we implemented simple retry logic that retries NamedCache.clear() operation up to 4 times with increasing delay between the attempts (1min, 2 min, 4 min).
However that didn't help. 3 out of those attempts failed with the same error on one storage enabled node and 1 out of those 4 attempts failed on another storage enabled node. In all cases a Coherence worker thread that is executing ClearRequest on storage enabled node got interrupted by Guardian after it reached its timeout while it was waiting on lock object at ThreadGate.doWait. Please see below:

Thank youToday we had that issue again and I have gathered some more information.
Everything was the same as I described in the previous posts in this thread: first attempt to clear a cache failed and next 3 retries also failed. All 4 times 2 storage enabled nodes had that "... A worker thread has been executing task: Message "ClearRequest" ..." error message and got interrupted by Guardian.
However after that I had some time to do further experiments. Our App has cache management UI that allows to clear any cache. So I started repeatedly taking thread dumps on those 2 storage enabled nodes which failed to clear the cache and executed cache clear operation form that UI. One of storage enabled nodes successfully cleared its part, but the other still failed. It failed with completely same error.
So, I have a thread dump which I took while cache clear operation was in progress. It shows that a thread which is processing that ClearRequest is stuck waiting in ThreadGate.close method:

All subsequents attempts to clear cache from cache management UI failed until we restarted that storage enabled node.
It looks like some thread left ThreadGate in a locked state, and any further attempts to apply a lock as part of ClearRequest message fail. May be it is known issue of Coherence 3.5.3?

I have a problem, everytime i turn on my Ipad, it appears " waiting for activation, this may need some time" then i choose dismiss, Ipad works normally, but the sentences that appear are disturbing. What should I do? How to activate Ipad since there is no option to activate athough i have plugged it into itunes many times? I live and use my ipad in Indonesia. Any of you know the solution? Is it because i live in Indonesia and i use Indonesian itunes account? Thanks
If you have the 3G version of the iPad and haven't purchased a 3G data plan, go to Settings > Cellular Data and turn cellular data off to stop the messages.
