*<p>The results of the Oracle Certification Program's 2009 Salary Survey, which was administered via the Internet earlier this year have been released.</p>*<p align="justify">Responses from Oracle Certification E-Magazine subscribers, Oracle Certified individuals, and visitors to the Oracle Certification Blog are included in the survey results - with participants from every demographic region worldwide.</p>
<p align="justify"> Of the 2,337 individuals who responded to the survey, 95% are employed either full- or part-time and reported that those who are Oracle certified typically earn an average salary that is $10K higher than candidates who are not certified.</p>

Am I the only one who doesn't see any figures (tried in FF & IE). Selecting from the LOV makes the page load but selecting an option e.g. regional salary / experience doesn't show anything.
    Edit: Europe doesn't show actually.

  • When to take the OCA certification

Hi! I am barely 6 months within the job in the Database Administration field (fresh graduate) and I believe I'm still learning the ropes, I would like to ask when is the best time to take an OCA certification and what are the preparations you suggest I can do.
    Oracle Newbie here :)

...and I believe I'm still learning the ropes, I know you still are. I've been working with Oracle for 17 years and I haven't stopped learning yet.
I would like to ask when is the best time to take an OCA certificationThe best time to study for an Oracle certification is today, tomorrow, and whenever you have the time so long as you are working in the field. The best time to not be studying for a certification is when there is something that you need to learn that doesn't yet have an associated certification. Study until you learn that... then go back to studying for a certification.
In the IT field, if you are not learning, then you are becoming obsolete.
...and what are the preparations you suggest I can do.Read the manuals. Read white papers. Check out the Oracle Learning Library. Links to a number of certification-specific study materials are available on oraclecertificationprep.com. You have also commented in the 1Z0-051 thread this evening. The available links for that exam are available at:

  • Regarding the Oracle certification

    Hi,
To become a Oracle Certified Associate, One has to pass Two exams. They are
(1Z0-007 OR 1Z0-001) And IZO-147. I'm an application developer. so My doubt is whether i should go for 1Z0-007 OR for 1Z0-001 for the first paper. If any one can differentiate these two then it would be of great help.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Alok

dat doesnt make any difference, actually 1z0-007 is purely sql and 1z0-001 is sql+pl\sql;whereas 1z0-147 is purely pl\sql.
so my suggestion is go for 007+147

  • Preview: Oracle Certification 2009 Salary Survey Results

Thanks to everyone who participated in our salary survey. We are busy working to compile, summarize and publish the results. The information will be available through the Oracle certification website and I&rsquo;ll let you know through the Oracle Certification Blog when it is ready.</p>
<p>In the meantime however, I'd like to share some pre-release details that are interesting:</p>
    <ol>
    <li>Certified professionals earn over 13% more than non-certified counterparts.</li>
<li>Years of experience in a role makes a big difference in overall compensation.</li>
<li>Pay between various job roles (architect, developer, administrator) can be markedly different.</li>
<li>Professionals who have earned more than one Oracle certification earn more than those hold one, and typically - the more certifications that you hold, the more likely you are to earn more.</li>
    </ol>
<p>I&rsquo;ll discuss specific results in more detail when the salary survey results become available, and give my perspective on what it means to certification-holders and those considering certification. </p>
<p>I look forward to your comments and thoughts!

  • Oracle certification courses for outsiders (not oracle employees)

    Hi,
I am also planning to take some Oracle certification courses . I am not an employee of Oracle currently. When I searched for the courses and study material, the course material costs very high around 1200$ for Order mgmt self study CD-ROM.

Can anyone please guide me on how outsiders can take the certifications, the study materials, other fee etc....I know its free for Oracle employees but what for us outsiders ? How can we do these ceritifications?

Thanks in Advance....Your only absolute mandatory expenditure is a the certification exam costs ... unless your particular certification objective also specifies a hands-on requirement.
I think you also need to frame your requirement as:
    - ' I am planning to study the required level to take the certification exam(s) X and 'Y'.'
+-' - Relevant Oracle supplied self-study and CD ROMs seem currently outside of my budget'
    - The 'free' and 'cheap' way to do it is by studying the appropriate official manuals. However a lot of people may find this too hard to work from these reference manuals.
--- There are some E-business books in the marketplace and to be published that may (or may noit) help, and I think some may be of poor quality.
    - By the way I notice you have selected a course with pre-requisites. Either you have the required pre-requisite E-Business knowledge, or you dont.
--- If you do you'll find the manuals for your selected certification much easier,
--- if you dont there are some books in the marketplace (some probably bad, and some to be soon published), thoat may help in this respect.
    - Sometimes there are third party suppliers/trainers who can help ... but the quality could be variable ..
If you think you've found cheap study material at a minimum check [www.certguard.com] to avoid unauthorised traning material.
Finally you could of course apply for employment at Oracle or for another employer who would pay for your training.
