We had a great vacation this summer... but I didn't want the whole neighborhood to know we weren't home... So here is how I used Home Controls...
Every night at 8 pm, I set the lights to turn on.
Every night at 11 pm, I set the lights to turn off.
Voila! My house looked lived in.
Do you worry about having your house dark when you are away??

You will never be far from home!
Who hasn't been 5 minutes away from the house and wondered if they left the garage door open??
Well now, you can pull over to the side of the road (safety first), and using your Droid or iPhone, pull up the Home Control app to see that Camera mounted in the garage... you'll know right away if that door is open... then you can turn around, or call someone to go shut it for you!
It's a real time saver if you ask me!!

Yesterday, at 3:05 pm, the phone rang, and shocking as it may be to many of you... it was my daughter calling to let me know she locked herself out! Well, no worries... right from my desk, I unlocked my front door using my smart door lock from Schlage. This time I went to the My Verizon home page and used the app on the portal... from any connected PC anywhere, I can control my home.
I let her in with no drama at all!

There is no other place to get the original screen/parts other than Apple. And Apples does not sell parts.
As soon as a 3rd party opens/changes the phone parts Apple will be able to tell and won't accept a phone that isn't original.
You will need to look at other options or buy a new phone at full price and don't make any changes to it.

Total arrogance CAN be countered with total rejection, as confirmed by the events of the last 24 hours. Yeah, I'm talking about the much anticipated share data plan. Sure, people had asked for a share plan, but who would have thought that Lucifer would double down in one fell swoop and slap us like we just insulted their mother. Yeah verizon, I'm talking about YOU. Rome fell in part because of the arrogance of it's 'leaders' and its overextended, overreach. One thing Wall street has taught us all, YOU ONLY GET TO CHARGE WHAT THE MARKET WILL BEAR. Well, looks like this one broke the camels back. One vz exec was quoted as saying that the company was pleased with the reaction of the proposed plan. Who exactly are they trying to kid ? What parallel universe does this guy (get paid to) live in ? LVOL (laugh very out loud) Not only did the feces hit the fan, but someone at verizon actually carried it (in a data bucket). Well, that's one bucket with a (gaping) hole in it. You will get exactly what you deserve verizon, a public REBUKE. Just be thankful we don't allow public stoning. If there was anything approaching corporate embarassement, this should have triggered it, but no one here is expecting that. What this proves to us is that REJECTION is a strong tool (remember High School ? ) Take that you greedy slug.

Same boat here. Extra $$ for the same or only 1GB for two iPhones to keep the same premium roughly.
New plan does not add up in favor of 99% of the cases I'd bet. We have no need for unlimited voice minutes let alone unlimited texting, when I send less than 1 text message per year!
Unfortunately we're kinda locked into Verizon because they have the best coverage in our area.
We're locked in for another year and half, so no rush decisions to make as long as the iPhone 4 and 4s hold up, we will be fine (not charged extra). The grandfathered unlim data & 2GB are way cheaper than the new plan for the same cost excluding fees & taxes that would only allow us one measly GB of shared data for 2 iPhones.

You cannot buy an internet card for the iPad, but you can purchase a mobile hotspot or MIFI device to use as your connection to the internet. Yoy will need to purchase a data plan from a carrier in your area as well in order for this to work.

Today, my FCC complaint hit the same person working on the BBB complaint. Jimmie has been very nice and seems willing to work with this problem. We have been able to come to an agreement. I paid the purchase price for the phone and he returned my upgrade and unlimited data plan. This is what would have occurred if Verizon had given me correct information to begin with. I am happy with this result. He also brought quite a few instances concerning the handling of my transfer and upgrade that did not follow proper procedure. I am also confident that I would not have resolved this without complaining to BBB and or FCC. Verizon had no interest in solving the problem nor did they show any propensity to keeping a 20 year client. Even though this last CSR was very polite and helpful, his sole job is to respond to formal Federal and State complaints. He is required by law to address every complaint and report the reporting agency the agreed upon results - good or bad. Again, I suggest - If you are not getting the proper customer service, complain to someone outside of Verizon. Jimmie had not received any complaints registered with Verizon directly and I still have not had any contact with any other management representative that I was told would call.

How can I take my iPhone & iPad backups from my iMac at home with me while travelling using my Macbookair (128Gb SSD) with an ext. HD? I want to continue to back up my devices including those of my wife while travelling without using the cloud and not returing home for several weeks.

You can use any Mac with a recent copy of iTunes to back up an iPhone or iPad. It doesn't have to be the one you usually synch with, so long as you don't let it try to do a synch.
Just take fresh backups on the MBA. As for how to get the backups onto the external drive, I'll have to leave that to others; I've never tried.

How do you get your experts with negative stance for new things / innovations to HANA

We have over 50 ABAP developer (senior experts). Primarily we develop in the old core module (SD, MM, FI, CO, HR, PP, CS, IH, PS) on ERP systems / business suite.
We have three groups of developer:
Group 1: They can’t await to work on new architectures – they’re open for all and have fun to work as a pioneer and dig in the deep of the system
Group 2: For this developer it’s all the same – for this people it’s not a problem to go to a other architectures
Group 3: They have no interest
to work in new architectures
to spend time to learn new things
they are very closed for new things
they have for all topics bad statements
I am part of the group 1. In my opinion in the IT it’s normal to spend much time at new topics in free time to keep up to date. New topics / innovative things make the developer job very exciting. For me it’s regular process – and that’s my own passion .
Since two month we have our own HANA system in our data centre as play field :-) (business suite on SAP HANA). I’ve some colleagues who made the HANA certification – and we made the first steps in our system. For group 1 and group 2 everything is okay and they’ve fun .
We have problems with the group 3. They find every hair in the soup – they spend very much time to search arguments against HANA. That’s our “negative group” . We copied our SAP System to a new system and made a technical migration. Now they compare the SAP System, which is based on an oracle datebase, with the new SAP System which is based on a HANA System. They go through the standard ERP process (offer / order / purchase order / goods movements / delivery / MM invoice / SD invoice / material master data / customer master data / vendor master data / conditions / financial bookings / etc.). They main argument is, that they can’t see a grow up of the performance / the added value of the invest / etc. Our other problem is that the group of this people have experience over 20 years in ABAP developing – and their opinion have a high weight. The other arguments: IBM and oracle are working on similar architectures – and we can hold on on the open sqlsyntax / on the present coding.

In IT world we have similar groups. Only results help this group3. I would suggest showcasing on results.

As you mentioned in your email, you already have HANA System to play with. So I would suggest looking at high performance transactions like MRP run and FICO Month-end Close.
3. Have you ideas for catching the group 3?
SAP has few use cases. Take-up these use cases build data models and use in ERP.
4. What standard components are really optimized for HANA?
Recently in our organization we replaced database from DB2 with HANA. Now our SAP ECC is running on HANA. Straight away we have seen 30% of performance improvement in all the transactions. SAP is providing optimized SAP Transactions and there is significant performance improvement and SAP Road Map clearly talks about providing more optimized SAP Transactions on top of HANA to its customers.
We tried to push some of our high performance code to DB layer by creating the Data Models and using those views in SAP ABAP Programs or Transactions. This gave us significant performance improvement.

As per your email, I feel group 3 is most demotivated group. I would suggest to talk to each individual and understand there areas of interest and try to put them in their areas of interest. As per my experience this will give good results.

I have found with AppleTV that it is the IPV6 on the computer you want to access is the problem. The issue is that Homegroup on Win 7 or Win 8 requires IPV6 to work, but AppleTV won't work with IPV6. (So maybe double check you have IPV6 turned off)
So you have to make a choice - Homegroup or AppleTV.... but you can't have both, until Apple brings ATV up to date. (crazy that it does not recognise IPV6 - c'mon Apple!)
You can set up sharing individually in Win 7 or 8 and have the ATV access files that way.
Having said that, there is always the exception.. I have an old HP home server running Win8 and it services ATV - but is part of the Homegroup... have no idea why it works on both, but no other machine on the home network will talk to both ATV and Homegroup at the same time!

Did you change your home folder name and now your computer is all wierd?

Hello. I did the same thing and I called apple help and they just couldn't help me on this subject. I was messing around with the computer and I found a proper solution where you don't have to re-install the software. Here are the steps:
Step one: login (if your not already logged in) into the account. It should still be there as the original name.
Step two: Open your Finder or HD and select the Users folder.
Step three: You should see your original account name as well as any one else's account name if you have other people sharing the computer. In addition to this you will also see the name you attempted to use as a replacement for your old Home Folder name, note that this is a new unexpected user.
Have it in column mode for the easiest experience.
In the new folder you created (this is the user on the list that you named your original folder) You will find all your old settings. Don't do anything yet! take and highlight all of the content in that folder by holding shift and clicking or your preferred way. Drag ALL the content to your original home folder, which should only have library and Documents. (if it has more than it's okay) it will tell you that there are already folders with that name and will ask permission to replace them. Say yes.
Step four: log out or restart your computer.
Step five: log in, and or wait till it's restarted Your desktop and dock should be restored to the way you originally had it. Don't change the name on it again. if you want to change the name, you'll need to create a new user.
Step six: Thank me and leave me complements or questions.

I think it is rather surprising that the Mac OS allows you to change the name of the home folder and doesn't seem to put up a warning or anything.
I did change the short name used on my home folder about three weeks ago. I used ChangeShortName Utility v1.2 which I got from here:

All indications are that using this utility has been 100% successful.
I did create a new temporary account with administration privileges and I ran the utility from that account. This meant I wasn't changing the short name on the account I was actually using.
It is very important to read the "read me" with ChangeShortName so that you are 100% sure of what you are doing when you use it.
