"Taken on" date in Flickr incorrect

I noticed a weird behavior with some Aperture photos I post to Flickr.  If I follow the steps below, the "taken on" date shown in Flickr is always incorrect (details later).
- Upload RAW files (this happens with Canon G12 and also Nikon D300) into Aperture.
- Add tags/keywords
- Edit photo 'a' in PhotoShop CS5 (my external editor)
- Save back to Aperture as new TIFF file (by default, PS will give the TIFF file the same name as the original RAW)
- Drag the edited image to a Flickr album in Aperture library called "Aperture Uploads" (my 'staging area' for Flickr uploads)
When I view the image in Flickr, the "taken on" date appears to be set to the date/time I edited the photo.  Oddly enough, if I look at the Metadata tab in Aperture for that specific photo, it shows the correct date/time when the photo was taken.
If I do adjustments/changes in Aperture and then upload the photo, the "taken on" date is correct.

Very interesting problem and far more complex than I thought.
If I 'upload' to my photostream from Aperture to Flickr, the 'taken on' date is correct. If I drag the same photo into a set, the 'edited date' is interpreted (on Flickr) as the 'taken on' date.
I've experimented doing the same in iPhoto (to photostream and to a set). The problem doesn't occur so maybe Aperture developers could learn something from the iPhoto guys?
Although there is this workaround, it would be good if someone from Apple could get on the case and fix it!

I'd like this feature as well. I tend to browse my photos by date in Aperture, but on ios thay always appear in some bizzare random order.
I've tried several workarounds but with no luck. As metadata is present, surely this should be simple...

  • Date modified is incorrect on exisiting files?

Hello all - We have a NW 6.5 SP8 server with Win7 and XP clients. All clients though report the existing shared files date modified attribute incorrectly (31/12/1984). This applies to all files - folders seem to be ok. Create a new file and it's fine. Copy and paste an existing file and the modifed date will remain the same (1984) but the created date will be the current time and date.
I've had a good search and the small mentions of it point to it being possibly an AV or backup issue? There's no AV on the NW server (not ideal I know but it is on all the Windows servers) and I don't "think" it's anything to do with backup either (but I will check/investigate further)
    Has anyone any ideas please?
    Many thanks

The OP most likely have Windows XP Clients with A/V software installed
    (Sophos ?)
After scanning mapped network drives from the Workstation, the dates of
the files on the network drives have been reset to 1985.
This problem has been introduced with an update to the A/V software that
has invalidated the check that was in place for this in the Novell client.
We have now made another update to the client, which can be downloaded
    from here [1] :
Few customers have already confirmed this to be the solution to the same
    problem

Thanks for this Hans, much appreciated.
Yes - well guessed, Sophos on the clients. Mostly clients are Win7 though - is there a recommeded client for Win7 that has been customised to avoid this issue?
If I install the client you posted on the XP machines will it rectify this issue, as in will the dates be reset with the correct data - or is that modified tag info missing for ever?
Thank you so much for taking the time to help!

Were you ever able to solve this problem? If so,
how? If not, did you see the same slowness copying
the files in Windows Explorer from the NAS to the
    iPod?
No I wasn't. To be honest I have essentially given up as even if I can fix it, disk space is cheaper than life is long!
Using the NAS in general is no problem. In fact, once iTunes got beyond the initial working out of what needed to be removed from and copied to the iPod, having all my MP3s on the NAS and copying direct to the iPod was no issue.
Following some sage (and frankly scary!) advice at ilounge (http://forums.ilounge.com/showthread.php?t=163611), I've decided to keep two copies of my MP3s. The fact that my fiendish NAS plan has failed is hurting more than the not-all-that-traumatic reality of duplicating 140GB of files if truth be told!

  • Why doesn't Lightroom organise videos/photos lacking "date taken" by "date modified" instead of "date created"?

This still seems to be a problem with Lightroom 5. This post is one of the top results after trying to Google this problem, and it's for LR3. I can't understand why something so fundamental to video (and some photo) organisation has been overlooked for so long.
I've been trying to import and organise all my old photos and videos by date with LR5. They've been backed up and copied many times over the years, most recently to an external drive last week. So every file has a "date created" of last week. But "date modified" remains the original recorded date.
This doesn't matter for photos with a proper EXIF "date taken" - but LR5 looks at the "date created" for videos, making it completely useless for organising them into date-based folders. It puts videos I recorded in 2010 (as per "date modified") into a 2014-12 folder. Why.
It's not just a video problem - some photos I took with devices that didn't record EXIF "date taken" are also filed into folders from this month, even though the "date modified" on them is correct as being from 5 years ago.
How can I rely on LR5 for importing and date-based organisation when it relies on files (lacking "date taken") having never been copied or backed up?

    Hello,
I use exiftool to modify the  Creation and Modification time of the files. After that I use LR "Ajust time" feature to set the time of the movies in LR to the file creation time (last point). This works fine for me.
    For MOV (Quicktime):
    exiftool "-FileModifyDate<TrackCreateDate"  "-FileCreateDate<TrackCreateDate"
    For AVI:
    exiftool "-FileModifyDate<DateTimeOriginal"  "-FileCreateDate<DateTimeOriginal" *.avi
Depnding on your camera (and container format mov, avi) you may also ajust the time zone, e.g.
    exiftool -FileModifyDate+=1 -FileCreateDate+=1 -if "$CameraModelName =~ /EOS 600D/i" *.mov
Which time in the container (MOV, AVI) you use as source, depends on your workflow. I edit my mov files before import. Therfore "CreateDate" is the time when I edited the file. Quicktime and (some) avi file contain a time when the containing stream was created. I use this vaule as source.
exiftool <filename> gives you detailed information about all available times.

  • Sorting photos by date/time taken, when date/time created is not an option?

I'm so sorry if this has been answered elsewhere, but I can't find it on Google or in the forums...
I need to sort wedding photos from multiple photographers by date taken so I can sort through the wedding as a full event. Sorting by the date/time the file was created will not suffice because I had to convert all photos from one of my photogs from NEF to DNG (D610 files not compatible with CS5), so the 'date created' for those DNG file is days later than all the other images. Thus, sorting by "date created' batches all the photos from one of my photogs together at the end.
Is there any option in Bridge that will actually read the metadata and sort by the shoot time of the image?
    Thanks for any help!

There has been a known bug in PSE9 although only affecting raw images and caused by the Camera Raw 6.4 update. The timestamp gets changed by one hour each time an image is modified. I don’t know if your issue is related but the work around is to revert to ACR 6.3
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/915/cpsid_91582.html
The only other work around is to temporarily switch to folder location view, if your images were imported from a single folder. Click on the display button (near top right in Organizer) to change the browser view. If you click on the folder in the left hand pane the files will normally be in sequential file name order which usually mirrors the date/time taken. From the folder location it’s possible to create an instant album, which can then be used as the basis of a slideshow.

  • Essbase 9.3.1, more time taken for data load.

    Hi,
i am trying to load 15gb of data, (data is taken from two seperate database of oracle) to my ASO application directly.
the load is very slow, what factors should i consider to make the load faster?
Will incresing the RAM size help me in this context?
i have gone through the admin doc of Essbase 9.3.1, in that the Hard-Disk and the RAM requirement is given, but it is for the Block storage.
is there any difference between this estimation and the ASO estimation?
If anyone can guide me, what things has to be taken care while loading the cube with huge data.
    i shall be very thankful.

The statements which matters for the Aggregate storage is
    DLSINGLETHREADPERSTAGE FALSE
    DLTHREADSPREPARE Sample Basic 3
The write(DLTHREADSWRITE Sample Basic 4) option doesnt have any impact on the writing speed of the data in the ASO.
The statements has to be included in the essbase.cfg file, which is the configuration file of the Essbase server.
Well as per the document this should be done throught the maxl ,Esscmd or the Analytic services console?
    Question?
    1) Should we simply put this statements in the essbase.cfg file without a semicolon? and restart the server/application?
    2) if these statement can be executed by the maxl? Please let us know how can we do that?
    3) How do we know what is the current level of thread being used for the Read/write?
    Thanks

  • Time and date are set incorrectly on the routers and switches

I've just noticed that the date and time on all my Cat4006's, Cat3548's and Cat6000 were grossly incorrect. I was wondering if this would contribute to problems I am having on the network. Does the switches/routers check the timestamp on the packets it's passing and/or append or add thereto?

Date and time set on routers and swithces will not affect your user data traffic.
Keeping Date and time synchronized across network devies will help if you are troubleshooting your network.
If you need to keep date and time synchronized across all the network devices, use NTP (Network Time Protocol)

  • Organizing by date pic taken not date imported?

Just upgraded to iphoto 09 and pulled a lot of pics in randomly from various places and can't get them to show in order of when they were taken. I figure they are organised by import event date of first pics taken. Since I have various imports with photos and folders taken over longish periods of time they are out of sync. Is there any way to view all the photos in order of individual shot date rather than beginning of event date. Does that make sense?

Yes I have. I figure the only way I can do this is to split the events manually so they are correctly sorted and dates of events don't overlap so much - ie. long event finishes way after the nest event started due to how I've imported the files/folders??

  • Image date and time incorrect in finder

I just noticed after inserting an SD card in my Macbook Pro the date and times on the images do not match the date and time taken.  Taking a new image a few minutes prior to inserting the card, finder sets the time back 6 hours.  I've checked the settings on my Fuji XT-1 and also in system preferences and they are the same.
Importing the images into Aperture, the dates and times do match to when the images were actually taken.  Any ideas?

Hey Seth, a little late but I hope you're subscribed to this post, I have a lot easier way to do that, no 3rd party.
Open System Preferences then select International, click on format, under Dates section click customize. On the Show line select "medium" and copy the whole line underneath (which can be change by selecting the little white arrows on it), cancel that window to close it. Then on the "Times" section click customize, choose medium from "Show" line and paste at the end on the line, close preferences and voilà!
When you paste, items on the line can be arranged and moved positions at will and change from one digit to two digits format, etc.

  • LR4 doesn't seem to be exporting geolocation data, or Flickr isn't reading it

Not sure where the problem lies, Lightroom or Flickr, but since this just started happening in LR4 I'm starting there...
I've geotagged a number of photos in the map module, and none of them are carrying over the location information on flickr publish.
I've definitely told flickr to allow my location data to be imported.  The photos clearly show the coordinates in their metadata in the map module.  The locations on those photos are not marked as private.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

Thanks, but I'm using publish, not export, for my sync, and the publish settings has "remove location data" unchecked.
I noticed on some photos the Metadata Status is "Has been changed" and others it's "Up to date" -- I'm trying a publish now to test the theory that this is what's causing it.
EDIT: it's not clear what is going on but things seem to be working now.  The only thing I did that may have changed things is to check "remove location metadata" from my flickr publish settings, save the settings, then uncheck the box then save again.  Perhaps this cleared the setting properly?  Perhaps the value was actually correctly written instead of displaying a false default?  Not sure without checking the source code

  • Exif Data to Flickr not the complete list.

I noticed that after I edited a photo and uploaded it to Flickr, that some of the METADATA from the Aperture page ie: lens model, lens distance etc is not being included in the Flickr EXIF data, most of it is there but a few items don't seem to be sent with the editing... why is this so...?
    Mike

Mike, it could have something to do with Flikr. I have noticed similar problems when uploading images to Flikr via the built-in Flikr upload in Aperture. I'm not saying it would be any different if you uploaded the images to Flikr outside of Aperture, but you could give it a try. If your EXIF data is showing in Aperture, than it most likely has something to do with the way Flikr is handling your images once uploaded. Either way, don't expect to get much support from Flikr.
Most recently, I have noticed that time and date aren't showing up properly on selected images in Flikr after uploading images to their servers. Now this could be due to something in my images, as these particular images weren't the originals off of my camera. However, that data does show up in Aperture, and therefore must be embedded in the image files, so not sure why Flikr wouldn't capture it.
I'll be paying attention to this thread to see if anyone has any further ideas.

    Hello Harshad,
2 GB of RAM doesn't seem to be very much to me. I guess your bottleneck is I/O. You've got to investigate this (keep an eye on long running processes). You didn't say very much about your target database design. Do you have a lot of indexes on the target tables and if so have you tried to drop them before loading? Do your OWB mappings require a lot of lookups (then apropriate indexes on the lookup table are very useful)? Do you use external tables? Are you talking about loading dimension or fact tables or both? You've got to supply some more information so that we can help you better.
