Takes foxfire 30.0 several minutes to load

sometimes it take foxfire several minutes to start up.
what the heck is it doing all this time?
i've tried all the usual suggestions - reset, clear cache often, remove bookmarks, disable unused add-on, upgraded to latest version etc etc etc.
i'm using XP with Avast anti-virus.

Several things to try. First;
'''''[https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode Start Firefox in Safe Mode]''''' {web link}
While you are in safe mode;
Press the '''<Alt>''' or '''<F10>''' key to bring up the tool bar.
Followed by;
Windows; '''Tools > Options'''
Linux; '''Edit > Preferences'''
Mac; ''application name'' '''> Preferences'''
Then '''Advanced > General.'''
Look for and turn off '''Use Hardware Acceleration'''.
Poke around safe web sites and see if there is still a problem. Then restart

  • Suddenly FF has started to take several minutes to load from the Icon. Thunderbird still loads instantly. I am using Microsoft OS

    I use Vista Microsoft OS and have FF and Thunderbird icons installed. Over the last through weeks the FF Icon has often taken several minutes to load the front page. Thunderbird still loads fairly much instantly.
    The problems became more noticeable following a recent MS upgrade

  • Firefox takes several minutes to load

    It takes several minutes for Firefox to load every time I log in. Takes longer if computer is started. Have troubleshot everything I could find with no avail. It's getting old and all that I have read I can't believe Mozilla has not heard and fixed this problem.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == I think it was when I updated.

    The question certainly isn't solved. I have no trouble with speed when entering sites - it's just when first trying to enter Mozilla. I tried IE this morning as a test and was into the home page in a few secomds. Moxilla 8 takes about a minute and a half. Version 3.6 loads immediately. I previously tried vers 8 a couple of weeks ago and web sites took a long time to load. This was not a problem after using vers 3.6 for a while and then re-downloading vers 8. I am still frustrated by the slow load up time it takes to get to the home page and believe this may be something the system administrators need to fix..

  • Firefox 3.6 takes several minutes to load under windows 7 ultimate 64 bit

    Firefox was working fine on windows 7 x64. Then I loaded some shell extensions to allow symmmbolic links to fies as my SSD was filling up and I wanted to move some applcation data off the system drive. This caused problems with acronis backup so I unloaded the extensions and reinstalled acronis. Not everything works as before except that firefox takes 3 minutes to load. When initiated it shows up in the processes on process explorer as running but doesn't show up as an applicationrunning for three minutes or so.
    Have tried unlintstalling and reinstalling firefox, allowing it through my firewall and using the prefetch option in the shortcut without success.

    Yeah i have done that a couple of times. When i navigate through the disk it doesn't even let me run setup.exe, so i installed from bootcamp64.msi. Then after 3.0 installs, i try to update to 3.1 and after the nvidia install, it just quits. When i use my version tracker it says that boot camp is in version 3.0, and it shows an update for 3.1 in software update. Now when i go to uninstall programs, it shows boot camp 3.1 is installed.
    As far as the audio, i have tried that as well. If i manually put a driver into that device, it fails on every reboot. It only shows working on Microsoft High Deff Audio Drivers( and it actually dosnt even work, it just glows red on my head phone jack.)
    Im stumped.

  • Elements 10 takes forever to open, several minutes

    Installed Elements 10 on Win 7 64 bit laptop that is plenty powerful.Created a shortcut to launch Elements directly from the directory it installed in.  It can take several minutes to open, if it does.  Have tried Run as Admin, no difference.  Sometimes nothing happens and I have to try several times to get it open.  Once open I went to Preferences and turned off all Media Analysis, and all Third Party things and anything else that might be slowing it.  Only imported about 50 files into the album, and it still takes so long to open I can't tell it is even trying.

    Tried that...still takes many minutes to open either from the PhotoshopElements10.exe or the Organizer.exe or the Editor.exe.  Nothing else on my PC is slow, and I run LOTS of things at the same time without problems. But can't get PSE to launch reliably in a timely manner when it is the only thing running.  Takes about 8 min to open Organizer.  From there if I launch Editor through Organizer it opens and locks up "Not Responding" for 5 minutes before I can actually do anything.  This makes the program useless.  With thousands of pictures to deal with..taking so long just to open 1 is nuts

  • Why does it take Firefox several minutes to load all wesites including its own?

    Opening Firefox may take minutes. Or if opens it takes minutes to access Google. Or if that opens minutes go by before the NYTimes site opens. Often a window from Firefox appears: "This is embarrassing." Three options appear: restart,check for errors, close program.

    It sounds to me like the installation didn't perform correctly.
    What I suggest you do is to go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall it, but don't checkmark the option to remove your bookmarks, customizations etc.
    Before you do that though, go to [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/fx/?ref=logo Download Firefox 4.0] and download a fresh installation file.
    After you uninstall the existing installation, reboot.
    It's also wise to disable your AV before installing again. If you've got AVG, this is particularly difficult because it doesn't have an Exit option. Instead, you have to open MSCONFIG and remove the checkmark from '''AVG Watchdog '''which disables everything. Any changes to MSCONFIG requires a reboot I regret to say.

  • Since loading Itunes update my Itunes takes about 3 to 4 minutes to load and then when it loads it freezes for about 3 minutes and then unfreezes. This happens with every restart. I've have deleted and reload four times but still get the same  results. t

    Question: I've have upadated to the latest Itunes software but since doing so I've have had nothing but problems and yes
    I have unloaded and reloaded at least 4 times. This happen everytime I try to open Itunes now. I even deleted Itunes from my hard drive and put it on my SSD to see if it would work and still nothing. I've always been pretty good at sloving my problems. But this one has me stumped. Is there anyone who as had this problem that would be willing to help me out. Router25. P.S. • PlayerMediaCore Taking Several Minutes to Load

    What's this PlayerMediaCore.prm that always hangs on startup? It seems 90% of the load time (about 2-1/2 minutes on my 3.5GHz quad-core) is taken up by this plugin. It has a vital-sounding name, so I'm not sure that removing it is a good idea, but it would be nice if there were a way to speed up the load times. Any ideas for improved loading time?

    Mark,<br /><br />Your theory about Cakewalk might be worth investigating.  VST plugins are usually installed in some shared directory (not sure off the top of my head, but probably something like c:\program files\common files\VST\), and Premiere will attempt to load them if it finds them.  <br /><br />One tip to see what's being loaded:  there's a 'plugin loading.log' files that Premiere generates during launch time.  It'll be in your user folder\AppData location (if you're on XP, this will be under c:\documents and settings\<username>\Application Data\Adobe\Premiere Pro\4.0\ ; under vista, it'll be c:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Premiere Pro\4.0\ ).<br /><br />I've seen your other posts about terrible frame rates, so I'm not ruling out some problem with PlayerMediaCore.  The player plugin has some new component dependencies that are more particular about OpenGL support, so my inclination is that you might need a different driver revision for your graphics card.  I'd usually say 'get the latest', but it seems that that doesn't always cover it (I think I've read a few posts here where people actually backtracked a driver revision version to get things working.)<br /><br />What's your graphic card, and what drivers do you currently have installed?<br /><br />Cheers

  • Try to open up a website for work and after several minutes of "loading" the page is blank and says done. Have tried with IE, Oprah, and Chrome and all have the same problem

    The website is a login for work so I can print off the sheets I need for my job. I can get the site to work during the day but in the evening, it doesn't matter what I do, what browser I use, it always loads a blank page. I have scanned for Trojans, disabled java, turned off the security settings, and nothing works. I have even tried accessing the page through the home page only to have the same problem.

    I would recommend you contact the web administrator for the site. He/she would likely be of far better assistance; this is clearly a problem specific to the website, not Firefox.

  • How can I resolve an issue where webpages take several minutes to download? Other computers working on the same home network take not time at all.

    Firefox would not load webpage despite there being an active internet connection to the computer. I know this because firefox loaded on another home computer without any issues. I reset the ip address on the computer in question through cmd.exe and this helped the issue to an extent however it take several minutes to load webpages. I can also advise tha Internet Explorer suffered exactly the same issue and it gave me an error message early when unable to load webpages, that a remote firewall may be blocking the connection. It suggested to configure the firewall to allow connections thru TCP port 80.

    Hello ,
    Can you please post your ADSL stats by following this direct link; http://192.168.1.254/index.cgi?active_page=9116 << it only works if you have a Home Hub 2.0+ and remember to type your password in.
    Also we need a speedtest Use this link http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/9354/c/346,4740,5520 as it will also help you diagnose and give you a list of solutions afterwards, it does incorporate the http://www.speedtester.bt.com one though as well.
    It sounds to me that you have a low profile, with your stats we can see if you've been having disconnections which makes the exchange raise your Noise Margin to try and increase your stabibility, but at a cost of speed, it may have been that your sync speed has recovereed, but not your IP Profile.
    Here are some helpful (I actually did find them helpful!) tips from BT: http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/35079 up to you whether you want to read those tips, because I did actually find them helpful.
    Can you comfirm that you have no noise on the line.  Really a test by dialling 17070 and pressing option 2 for the quiet line test should be completed in the Master Socket with no other devices connected to the line.  ANd also do you have a master socket with a split faceplate that you can unscrew the bottom half, if so behind there is a hidden 'test socket', it disconnects all your internal wiring so just to make sure its not a fault inside your premises.

  • IPhoto 08 takes fully 1 minute to load

    have rebuilt library, have repaired permissions, program opens quickly and shows thumbnails but disc symbol will begin to rotate and it takes full minute before usable. is this normal? 2300 photos total 1.82gb size library.

    I found that iPhoto would suddenly take upwards of FIVE full minutes to load. I hadn't noticed this previously, but clearing the "Look for shared photos" in Preferences made a VAST difference to the loading time.
    I wonder if the recent update(s) to iPhoto have activated this by default? I'm sure I didn't turn it on...
    Still, thanks to this thread, I'm back to normal.

  • IPhoto '08 takes 1 1/2 minutes to load.

    When I open iPhoto it takes one and a half minutes to load. Then a box pops up asking me if I want more information about iLife '09. I clicked on the box " to not ask me again". iphoto still is taking over a minute to open. Any suggestions?

    Marie
    Welcome to the Apple user to user discussion forums
    in the iPhoto preferences turn off sharing and set look for new photos on the web to manually - quit in event view so iPhoto will open in event view each time
    Those should help

  • FireFox keeps telling me that it can't find a server. It will sit there and think for sometimes as long as a minute when loading a page. Is this a router, modem, airport, hardware, or software problem?

    Pages sometimes take as long as a minute to load. Other times they're just "there" like they should be.
    I don't know what info would be helpful in figuring this out. It's not a certain website or time of day. I've got cable internet, a netgear router, and an arris modem. I'm running OS 10.5.8 and I believe I have all the current updates for the airport.

    Didn't seem to work. The only account I had was the Automatic. I made a new one, and it did the same thing.
    Are you talking about Locations? Not that, i meant the list on the left, use the - and + buttons at the bottom to delete/add connections ... deleting the old connection and creating a new one always works for me. Click the AirPort and click - then click + and add a new AirPort and configure it.

  • VI with Several XControls on nested tabs takes minutes to load in LabVIEW 2013

    Hello all,
    I have a VI in LabVIEW 8.2 that includes more than 400 Xcontrols in nested tabs, which opens in seconds (very fast). The code was upgraded to LabVIEW 2013 and now the VI takes minutes to open and in the meantime LabVIEW is unusable with the CPU at 100%.
    I am wondering if anybody has experienced this behavior with Xcontrols.
    Thanks.

    Please note that I am working with jarcTek on this project where we inherite that UI with so many XControls instances.
    It is not like there are a lot of different XControls (there are a total of about 10 different type of XControls), but there are a lot of instances of these XControls (several 100) in 3 levels of nested tabs.
    Yes, we both had the time to re-recompile the source code between the two posts that jarcTek made. The various XControls are stored in 4 different llbs. Most of the XControls that have a lot of instances are actually pretty simple (very little code there). Finally, yes the VI property  (or the XControl library property general settings) indicate that the code is in LabVIEW 2013 [see image below].
    You are correct, the delay occurs after the VI is loaded from disk. The loading time is fine (we see the loading progress/dialog since there are a few 100s vis to load with that main UI), but after that everything hangs for several minutes (cpu peg at 100%). We run the Desktop execution toolkit, and we can see a lot of XControl events (1000s) that are fired during this time.
    FYI: Unloading (closing) the VI is also very slow.
    To put this in perspective, In LabVIEW 8.2 the same code is ready to run immediately after the UI opens.
    Thanks
    PJM
