Takes SO LONG to re-render when editing - What do you guys do?

Tonight I was working on a minute-and-a-half promotion video for a NewSong concert I am promoting this coming weekend.
I used LiveType for all my text... Say I have a ten second LiveType file that I am using. I decide I want to change something - I click "open in editor" and whala, LiveType opens and I make my change, click save, go back to FCP and the change is made.
However, even with dynamic rendering on, it is still nearly impossible to see just how exact one's timings are etc. so I have to render the LiveType section of the sequence. Sometimes this can take up to 20 minutes, but usually around 6-10 minutes. Still, that is a lot of time for me to sit back and watch my computer work.
What do you guys do to speed up your project creation time as it relates to rendering and being able to see how your timing of edits look etc.
I look forward to hearing from you.

Not really answered. I guess everyone deals with this. < </div>
I answered your inquiry completely in the first response you received. Your desire for an answer you like does not change the horrible reality of your situation.

    my final cut is running extremely slow after having for 6 months.  I use external hard drives and save nothing on my computer.  it takes a long time to render now. do you think something is wrong with computer. took it to mac store but they fail to help me.  I have a 13 inch mac book pro 10.6.8 8gb 2.3 gfz intel core i5

    What did Apple tell you about what they did (or did not) find here?
    See if working on the main disk is any faster.
    USB2 is glacial, as I/O interconnects go.  And USB2 disks have been known to fail, or sometimes to drop back to USB1 speeds, too.  FireWire 800 is substantially faster than USB2, but still not as fast as the internal drive connections can provide.
    Put another way, start varying your configuration, and see which configuration changes (still) have the problem, and which don't.

  • Iphone seems to take a long time to charge when plugged in to USB

    Hi MyIphone seems to take a long time to charge when plugged in to USB. Is this normal? Less power coming from the Laptop than wall plug?

    Wow.. this completely amazes me. USB is 5v. Some computers (especially laptops) will shut off power to USB devices when the computer enters power saving mode. Very few will lower the power (since this could actually damage a device). I have noticed no difference in charge time between USB and the wall plug (I use the wall plug mostly when I travel, and USB at home). The only difference I can see is the wall wart puts out slightly more amperage then a USB port.

  • Speedgrade Takes a Long Time to Open When Direct Linking From PP

    Hello,
    I was just trying out the new tutorial and footage for Speedgrade (the Pizza and Coffee stuff).
    I notice that the very first time I do a direct link from the provided PP sequence, that there is a very long hang on the SG splash screen (with a series of progress bars animating over and over at the bottom). After a long time, SG finally opens.
    After going through this process, I notice that future round trips between PP and SG in this same project no longer cause the long delay.
    My question is, what is happening during that initial long delay? I know that there is not supposed to be any transcoding, etc. in the new workflow but if that is what is happening, where are the new files begin stored?
    Thanks,
    Lance
    P.S. Bonus question, Are the Tabs like Timeline, Clip, Stereo 3D, Audio, etc supposed to be locked when working in a direct link project?

    It could be a normal behavior to see a long loading process. The timing is related to a lot of different things, but there isn't any transcoding process. So no new files are created.
    Yes, when using Direct Link, there are a few functionality greyed out.

  • Downloaded 4.0 and having problems.webpages take a long time to open & when opened, I get a "firefox is not responding" message.yahoo email is not loading.Is there a problem with firefox 4? is the problem going to be fixed?

    firefox problems after installing version 4.0

    Hi Hussein,
    Thanks for your prompt reply and my apologies for the substantial delay in mine.
    We did some trouble shooting since then.
    We repolved the problem by choosing a pdf format instead of the seeded RTF format. This opened up the output in a couple of minutes because the pdf formatted output was about 50mb vs the RTF output which was 300MB+.
    But the ORIGINAL problem still remains. The xml tagged .out file is still huge with a size of nearly 1gb!
    My earlier questions here now boil down to the following questions.
    Q1. Is the huge XML Publisher's .out file expected in R12?  It really is massive!  The text file from 11i was just 19MB
    Q2. Oracle does not seem to offer the option to format the output in plain text ...We see PDF, RTF but no plain ugly text.  I would expect plain text file to be much smaller.  How can we get the output in plain text?
    1.Yes our stats are upto date. Let me emphasize that we do not have a performance problem with the report itself. The issue we are having is opening up the output.
    2. The authentication error is resolved. It was because of formatting the reports incorrectly.
    3. We did not use the usual tuning procedures such as tkprof because we do not have a performance problem.
    4. We checked the OPP file and there are none. I reiterate, The report does complete without issues. It is just that the output takes a long time to open up in the RTF
    I will appreciate if others  can share any experiences if you have faced this situation and how you have handled it.
    Thanks in advance for your time!

  • Screen takes a long time to render

    APEX 2.2 form with many regions displayed.
    One region is a matrix of about 10 columns and, potentially, hundreds of rows constructed using the HTMLDB_ITEM.HIDDEN, HTMLDB_ITEM.TEXTAREA, HTMLDB_ITEM.SELECT_LIST_FROM_LOV, HTMLDB_ITEM.TEXT and HTMLDB_ITEM.CHECKBOX functions.
    When there are few rows, the region displays very quickly. When there are 200-300 rows, the region can take 20-30 seconds to display.
    Running the same SQL in SQL*Plus for a 300 row region takes less than 0.5 secs.
    To try to isolate the problem I created two SQL regions, one above the below, the region taking the time.
    Running
    select to_char(systimestamp,'HH24:MI:SS:FF') time_mark
    from dual
    I got 16:05:32:007738 and 16:05:57:498557.
    The whole form is just under 1MB in size (when there are 300 rows in the large region). By monitoring the Windows task manager you can see the data getting transferred to IE in one rapid spike. The browser then takes a few seconds to display the form.
    Can anyone help to explain where the 20 -30 seconds is going?
    It seems to me that its either APEX itself or the AS (although the AS seems to be idle mostly)
    Can anyone offer any tuning suggestions?
    Thanks
    Adam

    Hi Adam,
    I've had similar problems before (but not in an Apex app). Whilst it may not be the same for you, the problem related to (A) the select lists and (B) the table widths.
    In both, it was because the browser had to load the data and then determine how to display it. It has to work out the width of each select list and then the width of every cell to work out the width of each column and, thus, the table.
    You can improve the speed by using the "table-layout:fixed" style for the table and by using COL tags with style="width:nnnpx". Together these force the browser to use specific widths for each column and stops it working out the widths for itself. If you don't want to use COL tags, the width would then be set by the width of the first row's cells. Either way, you need to adjust your report template to make these settings.
    Additionally, the longer the select lists, the worse the page-load time. You can see if these are causing the problem by using popup popup LOVs instead.
    Regards
    Andy

  • Premiere Elements 12 takes a long time to load when on a network.

    We currently have a user that uses the following version of Premiere Elements 12
    Version: 12.1 20140225.12.1.620828
    Updater states that everything this up to date.
    Laptop is a Lenovo T430 with 8gigs of RAM, 500gig HD, Intel 4000 Video Driver, Windows 7 professional on a domain. 3rd Gen i5 Processor.
    When the user is on the network via his docking station, it takes a good 5 minutes before the program launches and appears after clicking on the icon.  It takes another 3 to 5 minutes to respond where the cursor is not spinning and you can click on the menu items.
    Now, if the laptop is 'Off' the network either in the office or at the users home on wifi but not connected to the network, the program opens and responds with no issues what so ever.
    Preferences are set to use and access everything on the C: drive.  Is Premiere Elements scanning the network drives for media and if so, is there a way to change that so it doesn't?

    Does the issue still occur if you start Firefox in Safe Mode? http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode

    Thanks for your response.
    I have tried creating a new account but it didn't fix the problelm.
    How do i safe boot?
    when you say "safe booting" do you mean restarting/shutdown and restart?  because i restarted my macbook air while holding down the shift key while it was starting up but there was not luck either, the problem was still there when i restarted it again.

    Settings > General > Usage > Battery Usage
    Wait a few seconds for the battery usage data to appear.

  • CS 5.5.2 and still no GTX480 support for Mecury Engine?What are you guys smoking when supporting 470

    Never buying a Adobe product again. I'm in supporting for death of Flash. This is gone too far. I'm pissed to the core with Adobe. I would rather have FCP do the job than this crap where i don't get support.

    Meetajhu,
    MPE with GPU acceleration does indeed speed up both renders and encoding (when exporting from Premiere Pro 5/5.5) by a factor of generally between 1.5 and 1.8. See the following thread to better understand what I mean by this:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/3459631?tstart=0
    I just ran a test with all files on a single drive and to export 7.25 minutes of AVCHD to MPEG2-DVD (NTSC, progressive, wide, HQ) and comparing HW assisted vs. SW only I get:
    w/ GTX 580 = 90% CPU + 54% GPU (takes 1:21)
    software only = 98% CPU + 0% GPU (takes 2:00)
    As you and others point out, when using MPE w/ GPU can speed up the time required for "Timeline Rendering" by up to a factor of infinity, but that can be useless if only doing a "render effects in timeline" (Enter key) is not enough rendering for your hardware to provide smooth playback from the timeline!
    For example, if you have a timeline that show fully "red", as the AVCHD example above does on my PC, then PPro will force a partial render before it will even play back the clip (even though on my PC it plays flawlessly by simply pressing the spacebar). Then, when I shift over to "MPE with GPU accelaration" the whole timeline shows a yellow bar indicating that it is ready for playback without any rendering.
    Finally, try to give PPro a chance; FCP had years of being at the top, but it is PPro's time now!
    Regards,
    Jim

  • Movie editing, what do you think is the best program?

    Free is better of course, as free beer at least.
    I have an idea for a fun movie, but I never tried anything about. I understood Windows' users tent to use `Moviemaker.' Is there something similar for Arch Linux?
    I just need to cut movie pieces and put them together and adding a new audio. It would be nice the possibility of speeding up or slowing down the movie.
    I am all ears, tell me!

    Mencoder provides many options for movie editing and codec transfers.
    Avidemux permits adding audio.  Jpeg, png images can be included in the video mix.
    Mencoder provides for joining .avi's.
    Mencoder provides means to edit the format of digital camera movies and stills to produce .avi movies.
    Audacity can be used to modify sound.
    KolourPaint in kde permits changing resolution to make stills compatible with .avi movie format.  Other programs do the same.
    Best to you in making movies.

  • Fetching null records out of a function takes much longer than non-null

    Hi,
    We have a function that is called thousands of times on SQL. This function has a SELECT than can return one row at max.
    We realized that when the SQL statement doesn't return any record, it takes 3x times longer in the fetch phase.
    I made a simple test with three functions were each one was executed 1000 times. The first one has an extra outer join that guarantees that it always returns one record, a second one with an explicit cursor that can return 0 records and a third one with an implicit cursor that can also return 0 records.
    Here is the sample test code:
    DECLARE
    -- Local variables here
    CURSOR c IS
    SELECT teste_vasco.teste_vasco1(epis.id_episode) as val
    FROM episode epis
    WHERE rownum <= 1000;
    TYPE t_c IS TABLE OF c%ROWTYPE;
    l_c t_c;
    BEGIN
    -- Test statements here
    OPEN c;
    FETCH c BULK COLLECT
    INTO l_c;
    CLOSE c;
              for i in l_c.first..l_c.last
              loop
              dbms_output.put_line(i || ' :' || l_c(i).val);
              end loop;
    END;
    The difference between the tests is that instead of calling the vasco1 function, vasco2 and vasco3 is called.

    As you can see, in the first example the fetch time of the SELECT in the function vasco1 takes 0.02 seconds and 0.06 in the SELECT of the test script. This test returned 1000 non-null records.
    In the tests 2 and 3, the fetch phase of the SELECT in the test script takes much more time - 0.27 seconds, despite the fetch of the SELECT in the functions (vasco2 and vasco3) took 0.00 seconds (as it only returned 1 row for the 1000 executions) and the only difference between them is the function that is called. Both test2 and test3 returned 999 null records and 1 non-null record.
    How it's possible than a select null records takes much longer than selecting non-null records?
    Hope you can understand the problem and thank you in advance for any help or suggestions.

    Thank you for the replies...
    But the thing is that the SELECT in the function is very fast and the fetch phase takes no time (0.00 second).
    And, as you can see in the execution plan, there's no need for a full index scan...only a range scan is performed:
    SELECT CS.DT_SET, CS.FLG_STAGE, CS.DT_WARN
    FROM

    As far as the contex switch, we are aware of that, but we can have modularity with this solution and the first function also have many context switching and is must faster.

  • Why does it take so long to download a movie on itunes

    I just purchased via Itunes a movie and it says it will take eight hours to download!  Why on earth would it take so long?

    Depending on the type of connection you have, most likely you're sharing that connection with your neighbors and if everybody is using it all at the same time you are probably having some reduced bandwidth.  Second, depending on the quality of the movie you're downloading (SD, 720p 1080i/p) it could be several gigabytes of data and that may take a long time.  Ten megabits per second isn't really that fast anymore when we are moving such large amounts of data.
