Takes time for clear photo to come up (pixellated).

Hello. I am using iPhoto 2 and notice that when I click on a photo, it takes 3 or 4 seconds for the picture to become clear, ie: it looks pixellated but finally clears to a good picture. Hope someone can tell me how to fix this if possible.
Thanks.

Sorry Terrance, this is reference to our ibook G4 NOT the iMac. (2 on i5 does sound a bit bizzare alright! Even having just iPhoto 2 is a big lag and will update it one of these days!)
I tried Preview and they do seem to open quicker in that, ie about 1-2 seconds as opposed to 4-5 in iPhoto.
Re your reference to size, you may have something there as the files are quite large, ie 4 mb +/-. Ones in the 1 mb range open fairly quickly.

  • Firefox use to be real quick when I first went online, now it takes forever for my homepage to come up, what is going on?

Ever since this last update whenever I go online it takes forever for my homepage to come up. Is anyone else having the same trouble with Firefox? Use to I could click the icon and right there was the internet now I have to wait and wait and wait. I am about ready to leave Firefox. Another thing it does too, is if I go and look at a youtube video, then when I do open my homepage that youtube video becomes my homepage, instead of what my homepage should be. I am getting so so frustrated. Someone please give me some help on this.

    * The first time you start up any application after turning on your computer is called a cold start, which is why Firefox takes a while to load right away. (I've noticed that future versions of Firefox start up faster on a cold start then Firefox 5.0.1.) Also, a lower amount of RAM could be slowing its start-up down since Firefox is kind of memory hungry.
    * As for the second part of your question, press ctrl,Alt, and the delete keys on your keyboard. The Windows Task Manager should start. Go to the processes tab and look for 'firefox.exe'. Right click on the firefox.exe and click 'End Process'. Hit Yes and wait for a minute.
    * Then opening Firefox again.
    Hopefully this helped somewhat!

  • Adjust Date and time for all Photos in an event?

Would some one tell me how to adjust the date and time for all photos in an event. For some reason when I change the date, it only changes the first photo in the event and I am left with a range of dates in the event, but I would rather they all have the same date in the event. Any thoughts or ideas?

How are you selecting the photos and changing them? How much of a change are you trying to make? A total change of date and time or just a delta change either plus or minus?
Using the Photos->Adjust Date and Time... menu option will apply the time/date difference to all of the photos in the Event if you click on the Event icon in the Photos mode or the Event mode.

I've been using iMovie for a while now to make movies out of mostly travel photos and video clips.  I try to vary the time for the photos from 1-4 sec., although most of them are 1-2 seconds so as to keep it short.  A friend of mine who saw my most recent product said that this is too short.  Any ideas out there?

I apologize for my confusion on your question.  I find that depending on the principal of each photo and my target audience to determine the time frame for each photo.  It seems most people get impatient with viewing one photo for more than 1-2 seconds if the photo is not complex.
If there are several things that interests the viewers in any one image, they want to look at it a second or two longer.  If the movie of images is a training aid, the images may need to be more than 3 seconds.  For intro's, or a trailer for a training movie, no longer than 1-2 seconds.
That was a long answer to say, generally speaking, I find 3 seconds to be an average time length.

  • Ipad is sometimes "not charging" and sometimes charging ..i have to pull out and put tje charging pin many times til i see the icon that it is charging..i have an original ipad charger..and it always takes time for it to charge succesfully

I need ur help..i have to unplug and plug the charging pin to my ipad many times until i cam see the icon on the upper right that ia alrdy charging..i often see 'not charging' message many times before it will charge succesfully..need ur help guys.thanka

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. I don't think that the "SUM" structure in the SELECT makes a difference in performance (And DO NOT use PL/SQL for this!) And as long as you SUM most PET.element_name values you do not need to filter by them.
But, of course, the solution of "Sven W." would make the code MUCH nicer (took me a while to get it) and the "format" of the join conditions would take anyone ages to maintain that code!
But your problem is that the execution differs massively right?
Do you do the same thing? E.g. bind variables in the interactive part? Do the variables have the same value?
Do you filter on the other variables like "P_DEPT" etc. ?
    "and haout.name=nvl(:P_Dept,haout.name)"
The good thing is that you have an execution which makes you happy so you need to compare the SQL and the execution for both. Somewhere must be a difference. (Is the result the same by the way (just in case your parameters differ)?)
If the results and parameters are the same, then do you not work with parameters in the "interactive" test and ORACLE is choosing a different execution plan as it knows more about your question. If that's the case, try to hint the query so that it's using the desired execution plan when you work with parameters.
And how did you get that "execution plan" it's missing so much data and it's not formated. (put around it and check in "Preview" if it looks as desired)

  • Gather table stats takes time for big table

Table has got millions of record and it is partitioned. when i analyze the table using the following syntax it takes more than 5 hrs and it has got one index.
I tried with auto sample size and also by changing the estimate percentage value like 20, 50 70 etc. But the time is almost same.
    exec dbms_stats.gather_table_stats(ownname=>'SYSADM',tabname=>'TEST',granularity =>'ALL',ESTIMATE_PERCENT=>100,cascade=>TRUE);
What i should do to reduce the analyze time for Big tables. Can anyone help me. l

    Hello,
The behaviour of the ESTIMATE_PERCENT may change from one Release to another.
In some Release when you specify a "too high" (>25%,...) ESTIMATE_PERCENT in fact you collect the Statistics over 100% of the rows, as in COMPUTE mode:
Using DBMS_STATS.GATHER_TABLE_STATS With ESTIMATE_PERCENT Parameter Samples All Rows [ID 223065.1]For later Release, *10g* or *11g*, you have the possibility to use the following value:
estimate_percent => DBMS_STATS.AUTO_SAMPLE_SIZEIn fact, you may use it even in *9.2*, but in this release it is recommended using a specific estimate value.
More over, starting with *10.1* it's possible to Schedule the Statistics collect by using DBMS_SCHEDULE and, specify a Window so that the Job doesn't run during production hours.
So, the answer may depends on the Oracle Release and also on the Application (SAP, Peoplesoft, ...).
    Best regards,
    Jean-Valentin

  • Not allowed to change date and time for some photos; why?

I have some images that I scanned in of old photos.  I'm trying to change the date and time and location to reflect the time the original photo was taken.  I know how to do it in the menu system, but when I try to change the original data it tells me they are of a file type that won't allow this metadata to be changed.  They are simple JPEG's so I'm not sure what the problem is.  Do I need to convert it to some other format first to be able to do this?  Any ideas would be helpful...

    Hello Toran,
are trying to change the date and time of the versions only, or are you trying to change the date and time of the masters too? If you are using
Meta Data -> change date and time
deselect "also change master file", this causes the problem, the new Aperture version seems not to allow to change the date and time of masters.
There have been long discussions on this problem, see e.g. this thread; I do not know if somebody has found a solution by now,
    Regards, Léonie

  • Extending the time for a photo inserted into Motion timeline

I'm a newbie to Motion and I've downloaded the dvMatte for Motion so I can do what I hope to do, which is to shoot a short Monthly PodCast in front of a green screen and insert a Virtual Set behind me.
I insert my clip into motion, apply the dvMatte filter, then add a picture of the virtual set as a layer to the timeline.
It looks great, initially. But the image/picture is inserted with a duration of only 3 seconds. I can't seem to locate a way to extend the duration for that picture to the same as that of the keyed clip.
The clip is, in this case only 8 seconds. So I end up with a great 3 seconds of my virtual set with me in front of it, then just the black matte behind me.
Are photos not permitted to be extended?

  • Long time for i Photo to open

I have iBook G4 OSx 10.4.8 w/1.25 GB RAM (the max for this machine)
    3700 pix in iPhoto.
When I open i Photo it takes forever until all the photos load. Just now I gave up after 12 min and force quit the darn program. I can find no preferences to change to make this go more quickly.
Any ideas on how to speed this up?
I also have on this computer PS CS2 and Bridge seems to work OK.
Is there a way to completely eliminate iphoto from the HD and just use Bridge as my photobrowser? Thanks in advance for any advice.

i have over 4000 pictures in my iphoto and ive noticed that its been taking FOREVER also. i try to avoid opening it all all costs. i thinks its just the sheer number of pictures in the library that makes it take so long, so i think im going to try to take the older ones off of my computer and burn them on to CDs to clear up some space... hopefully it will work!

  • Contacts - take picture for contact photo (bug report)

I came across a problem using my Q5.
When I attempty to add a new contact, and proceed to take a picture for that contact,  the camera doesn't allow me to take a picture.  Further, the camera does not respond and I can only swipe up and close the  camera app.  It appears the camera continues to 'stay on' and the volume controls do not work after.
this is cleared up after a reset.
also, after the latest update, the phone continues to report that it has been updated to the latest version upon successful reboot (unsure if  this is intended)
    -cheers

Yes adding a picture from the system works. The only update notice is post reboot, when loading into the main screen.

  • Where does iPhoto save the time for each photo?

I copied some photos from the library to my desktop, ran software to add an hour to several at once (forgot daylight savings time), deleted the original photos from iPhoto, and re-imported the new copy with the new times back into the library.
I was very surprised to see the information window on the bottom left side of the iPhoto window still showed the old time. Even more confusing is that if I bring up the main info window (CMD-I), the time indicated there is the time I corrected to.
Why do these times not match? Where is iPhoto keeping the old times?

    Bob:
Other users have reported that also. I've used PhotoInfo to change time and dates of file and upon importing back into iPhoto they are reported as changed in both the Source window info section and in the Get Info window's Photo section. Don't know why I can do it and the other users were not able to.
I just dragged the photos from the thumbnail window to the desktop, launched PhotoInfo, went to the File->Open menu and select the file. I then changed the time and clicked on Change button. Upon importing into iPhoto the date displayed as changed. If you didn't use PhotoInfo you might give it a try.
