Taking a screen shot (shift apple 4)

This feature always worked fine until today when i tried it when ever i moved the mouse the picture target started flashing in and out, disappearing. This is not a major problem, but it is extremely annoying to use now. Anyone have the same problem or know how to fix it?

I believe I saw this on my other MBP. It's annoying but something I can live with. I think it has something to do with the 10.5.7 graphic part of the update.

On the subject of screen shots etc, the following keyboard shortcuts may be useful to know:
1. Command(Apple)-Shift-3 - Take a picture of the screen
2. Command(Apple)-Shift-4 - Take a picture of the selection
3. *Command(Apple)-Shift-4, then press Control while selecting* - Take a picture of the screen, place in Clipboard
4. *Command(Apple)-Shift-4, then Spacebar* - Take a picture of the selected window

Ipod touch 4g keeps taking random screen shots

i dont think its the normal way for a screenshot because my case doesnt really touch the sleep or home button but i still get pics on it from my pocket or when im using it i hear the click of the camera

However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
- Then do the other actions of:

- New cable and different USB port
- Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

Iphone 5 taking screen shots by only pressing on/off button

I know it's supposed to take screen shots if you hold down the home button and the on/off button together, but my phone is taking a screen shot every time I turn it off (i.e., without pressing the home button). Anyone seen this issue?

Maybe the home button is stick. Try
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the home button together until the apple logo appears (ignore the ON/OFF slider) then let both buttons go and wait for phone to restart (no data will be lost).

Not Taking screen shots

Hi, i have a mac mini, and a third party keyboard. whenever i try to take a screenshot, nothing happens. the keyboard is connected to a hub. does anyone know what to do? i have tried to connect it directly to the mac, but it doesn't help.

If you open the "Keyboard Shortcuts" tab of the Keyboard & Mouse System Preferences, you can change the shortcut for taking a screen shot to whatever you like. If Windows-shift-3 wasn't working before, maybe you can just change it TO Windows-shift-3?

Taking Screen Shot and it is flipping the images????

Hello, I have a new iMac G5 with iSight and its acting really strange when taking a screen shot.
I press command + shift + 4 and take a screen shot of part of the screen and it creates a folder called 'flipped images' on the desktop and saves the images flipped horizontally???
( I'm using OS 10.4.3)
anyone had this before? or know how to change it back?

My ipad wont start up - it looks like its is taking screen shots - the screen randomly flashes

my ipad just stopped working - the screen went black and i cant start it - I've tried to restore factory settings - but it still wont open. The screen randomly flashes - like its taking a screen shot - very bizzarre.

What is the command for taking a screen shot on a mac?

I use shift/applekey/4 (all at the same time) then I get a little indicator on the screen and can copy as much of the screen as I want. Somewhere I found where I could get it to go onto my screen as a jpeg--titled picture1-picture 2 or whatever.

In Mac Help, there is this notation regarding screen shots:
Some applications, such as DVD Player, may not let you take pictures of the screen.
What other applications there may be, I don't know. Maybe this applies to your lost screen shot?
The last thing to try is PREVIEW>FILE>NEW FROM CLIPBOARD.
This then exhausts my ammunition on this item.

ALL my files are on this current account that doesn't take screen shots...and I don't know how to move everything from my documents, to my pictures in iPhoto and music in iTunes.

I've been using command-control-shift-4 but then I get the camera noise and I have no idea where the photo ends up.

I zoomed in and out of pages, trying to get the right view to take a screen shot for facebook, and now my email homepage is HUGE when every other screen looks normal.

When I set the view to Zoom Font only, my email page looks normal, but facebook is off. I can't seem to get the settings back to where they were before I tried taking that screen shot. I have tried restarting the computer, but that doesn't help. Am I just screwed?

Imported Screen Shots are Blurry

Hello FCP users,
I am challenged and need some guidance. The projects that I create a little mini-movies/demos made up of mostly imported screen shots and some still photos -- never any video. My challenge is that I have a very clean screen shot to work with -- if I bring them up in Preview, Photoshop, etc. they look great. The second I import them into FCP they are blurry, degraded and next to unreadable. I seems like I've tried everything, but nothing seems to make a difference.
I am not the one taking the screen shots -- they are provided from a different source each time. Each person most likely uses a different product to grab those screen shots, but my guess is that they are probably using snag-it or a similar product. I usually ask them to provide the "best" quality they can. That can mean a ton of different sized screen shots come my way. The ones I'm working with now range in size -- 1,116x760, 1,284x1000, 1,026x813, 1,023x830 to name a few.
I have been on the boards and did try one recommendation that I saw to reduce the size of the image to the same frame size that you are working with (in my case 720x480). Of course, when I do this there is degradation before I even bring it into FCP.
So, I'm wondering, should I be asking people to create their screen shots at 720x480? I've been playing around in Parallels with Snag-it to see what options are available -- I don't see that they can choose to produce the screen shots at a certain size -- they can reduce them after they take it, but there's that degradation again. Maybe there is some recommended product that I can suggest? Everyone I work with to supply the screen shots would be a pc user.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I do these often, and my screen quality always looks poor. I'd like to come up with a solution and I'm sure a big part of that is instructing those who supply the screen shots to take them a certain way...perhaps with a certain product...only I don't know what that is.

Pixel Aspect Ratio: NTSC - CCIR 601 / DV (720x480)
Compressor: DV/DVCPRO - NTSC

Pan & Scan: in this context, I was referring to the idea of panning across a screen shot instead of reducing it to the size of the video frame. In other words, the original is (e.g.) 2x the width or height and then, as you explain / narrate, it moves across the screen. This preserves the "local" resolution of the original, but doesn't give the viewer a single view of the whole screen. It can be used in conjunction with the "whole view" as a kind of CU shot.

How do I get rid of the status bar at the top of my iPhone 3G while taking screen shots? I'd like to publish the shots on the web and in a You Tube video.

It depends on what you are taking a screen shot of. For example, if you are watching a video and the controls (and status bar) are visible, you can tap the screen to remove them and take you screen shot.
