  • Taking Apart the MBP Screen?

I would like to check and insure that the camera cable in my MBP's screen is secure. It is non-functional and may be the source of a sleeping problem for my laptop.
All I want to do is look, and if there is some kind of simple, basic disconnection, plug it back in.
Has anyone done this, or know how to get the MBP display module apart?

Nevermind, I see here that taking apart the screen requires taking apart the main computer module as well.

  • HP TouchSmart IQ790 Stopped Working

Hi i have a HP Touchsmart IQ790 which has stopped working .. has green power light on back and i can hear the fan & HDD .. no boot up display as screen is blank.. DVD drive is responsive as i tried using a boot disk to start.. also used an external monitor to get a display but nothing.. i assume  a component on Mother board has failed as no POST is displayed. Systems is only 15 Months old..

Has this been resolved now, as mine is doing the same, albeit, intermittently.
I have tried to to do the above but doesn't resolve the issue.
I have tried to press ESC and after a couple of tries, it gets me to the blue screen where ESC, F10 and F11 are options to press, then this boots up normally.
And sometimes it takes a few tries to even get this far.
I read somewhere that the Nvidia GeForce graphics card is the culprit but surely not in my case if it boots up intermittently?

  • Taking apart the Zen To

My Zen Touch, is to be honest, fecked. It's not getting past the creative screen no matter what I do. I half installed the firmware before the program (the same one creative wrote) crashed. If I take it apart and remove the battery is there any chance it may start working again? How easy is this to do?

  • Taking apart a vector object (formerly type)

    Hi,
    Hope you're well.
There is a typeface made of dingbats. I want to manipulate one of them by erasing or taking away the unfilled/stroked circle around the symbol. To start, I create outlines on the dingbat. However, when I use the pen tool to try and delete anchor points on the stroke, the result ends up being that it takes away the stroke, but it also fills the stroke with the color of the stroke (when I don't want one at all and changes the symbol to white.
I've attached an example of the before and after to see what I mean.
How can I just get rid of the original circle around the symbol?
    Thanks!

Current font formats don't actually contain strokes. What you think is a single circular path with a stroke is actually two subpaths of a compound path. You can simply altClick the outer edge of the circle with the white pointer and delete. That will give you what you depict as "after". Then altClick the other circular edge and delete it. That will leave you with what you want.
The white pointer is able to select subpaths of compounds paths without your having to first release the compound. Pressing the Alt modifier causes the white pointer to select a whole path instead of just one of it's segments.

  • Taking apart a Satellite 1130-z24

How do I take apart the TOSHIBA SATELLITE 1130-z24?
It has a lot dirt (brown cotton wool like stuff) inside which the hoover can't get rid of (as its to far in), but i want to take it apart clean the fluff, re-assemble it and use the laptop.
I took all the screws out (i could see) under the laptop it but still no joy, the case will not come apart.
Down loaded the user manual but that doesn't tell you how to do this.
Is there a technitions manual i can down load so it can tell me how to safely take it apart.

    Hi
The disassembling manuals cannot be downloaded from the Toshiba page.
I didnt find any and I assume such manual are created just only for a Toshiba authorized service partners and are not released for public usage.
Maybe you will find some picture or details in the internet. Google is your friend always ;)
But generally speaking, its really tricky to disassemble the notebook and I would not recommend doing this if you dont know how to proceed.
From my knowledge on most notebooks the keyboard must be removed firstly because there could be some screws which secure the other parts and covers.
Sorry but I cannot provide more details because the Satellite 1130-z24 is not known to me

  • Taking apart

How do you take apart the fifth Gen ipod

that is ok I need to know the propper way to do
I've read mountains of stuff about iPods. Not only have I never found anything that tells you how to do this, but I've found tons of stuff telling you not even to try. Apparently it becomes more and more difficult with each iPod that's released.
This isn't the answer you want, but in the long run, the cheapest way to do it would be to take it to an Apple store and have them do it for you. Since you'd be paying for the battery anyway, having them do it works out pretty cheap. Breaking it would work out very expensive.

  • Taking apart an ornament

    Hi,
I'm trying to take some parts of an ornament off. However, when I try using the remove anchor point tool, it doesn't erase the parts I want to go away, but instead creates a black background around where they were. Please see the attached to see what I mean. The upper left ornament is the original, the bottom right one is the same thing, after I tried taking a few points off in the upper right of the ornament.
Is there a way to do this without getting that black background and removing the points cleanly?
    Or is there another alternative?
    Thanks!

Draw a coloured rectangle and put it behind your ornament so that you can see if any parts of it are compound paths. If they are, you should be able to see the coloured background through the “holes”.
    Lock the rectangle.
Now, assuming that there are no “holes”, try making the whole ornament into a compound path. If this works in one go, your problem is solved. The coloured background will show you if the compound is white or black – it might come out as either.
If this doesn’t work at all – and editing compound paths can be tricky – do the job bit by bit using Pathfinder (panel).
I expect there is a more or less contiguous black background to the ornament, so select the bit you want to go transparent along with the black area and Pathfinder > Minus Front.
Go along like this until you have the ornament as you want it.

Moderator - could you PLEASE put this in a FAQ?
This is asked three times a day. ATT has only one SIM card and they are all 3G enabled with the 3G logo on it. They have had those since Nov 06. It doesn't mean your phone is 3G. The same SIM cards are used in all ATT/Cingular phones.

  • Taking apart my 8830

My 8830 has a broken USB plug on it.  I cannot recharge or synchronize it.  I neet to replace the plug.
I've managed to remove the 4 screws under the battery, the two side pieces.  But the face, and back seem to be hinged at the top of the pĥone.  I don't  dare force it too much.
Can anyone tell me how I can remove the face and back, so I can access the USB plug?
    Thanks.

  • Taking apart an older model Velociraptor.

    Hi all,
I'm trying to take off the heat sink of the older style Velociraptors, the GLFS. I'm going to put two in a Mac Pro via Maxupgrade sleds. I can't figure out a way to do this carefully, I'm not really sure which screws to turn, and the screws (hexes) I see to turn seem like they will strip before turning.
Does anyone have experience in this area that they could share with me regarding this? I don't want to destroy these drives.
    Thanks,
    Steve

    once the dust settles
Ooh, that might take a bit, perhaps by days end maybe. Depends on how much I linger in pleasant bewilderment. Have to say, it really feels like I got a new Mac, as in I haven't figured it all out yet.
My clone wouldn't start it, just a gray screen. The clone I really wanted to start from, on the 150HLFS, well, that disk has not wanted to fit yet. That's a bit of a mystery that I need todays good daylight to tackle. I put in the WD640 last night instead, which has my other clone, Time Machine, and, gulp, 10.4 on it. The MaxUpgrade sleds worked like a charm, I have two 300gb VRs up and running.
But I wasted a lot of time trying to put a fresh, from my new dvds, system on one, and them (yep, tried to stripe the two together for fun). Do I hear someone in the audience saying "format scheme"? As in some Intelish-hellish format scheme? Perhaps I do, I'm still somewhat befogged.
Migration Assistant was out helping other people yesterday, I got few benefits from it. Well, it remembered my Mail settings, which is more than I had the intelligence to write down or remember.
Otherwise, transferring over the account from the Quad made a sick puppy of an account on this Mac.
The most I accomplished at days end was using Superduper (downloaded fresh from the net) to clone this Macs original drive to one of the VRs. I didn't expect that to work either, but it did. I like that program more and more.
So today's endeavors will be, one, installing a fresh new system on one of my drives, minus the gunk.
Two, resurrecting one of my clones to work.
Three, go back inside the Mac again, find the power connector I need for my Sonnet card and get the rest of my drives online. And while there, try to figure out why the 150VR didn't fit.
So far, even though in my egotistical mind I thought I would have everything set up and ready to go in a half hour or less, there's a sweet-sour misery I'm feeling that I'm enjoying very much.
I haven't taken PS4 or AE3 for a spin yet. Those are pleasures I'm waiting on. As far as games though, well, do I embarrass myself by admitting that Star Wars Battlefront is a favorite? It's so darn pretty. Too bad, even though I saw on a list that it was playable on an IntelMac, it doesn't play on mine. Shouldn't Rosetta be helping me out a bit? Where is she, I want to talk to her supervisor.
