Taking photographs on iPhone camera

I have been trying to do some work today by taking photos and e-mailling them off for work purposes.
I have been taking photos of A4 sheets of paper by holding the phone sideways and taking the photo to get the whole width of the paper in. When you turn the phone to look at it in landscape to get the whole glory of the picture it turns and goes small on the screen!?
Is this a design fault because this doesn't seem right to me.....any tips or pointers?

It sounds like your iPhones accelerometer is not registering your move to landscape prior to taking the pic
When you open the camera app and move to landscape do the little icons on the screen rotate??? They should rotate between landscape and portrait as you move the phone...
In the past I have had an issue where I'd move to landscape but the iPhone would fail to register that move...so the pic it would take would be in portrait...
This would result in the pic itself not being able to go into landscape when being viewed and instead showing only in portrait...
You had another post prior that you had several issue...my reply to that was you need a new phone replacement and then re install the 3.0.1 OS and use restore as new iPhone

Double tap Home button and delete Camera app from multitask-list.
    Do a
Reset: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Note: You will not lose any data

But only in back camera this happens

Not sure what your warranty status is, or if you have already seen the other threads that talk about these purple spots, but this is beginning to look like a widespread problem that Apple is probably refusing to acknowledge. For instance:

I personally haven't experienced much of the "reverberation/feedback" when using a headset on the i4S...
Yes, I have near-perfect hearing too (for scope, squeaky brakes hurt my ears) I come from many conversations on many phones and types and first off, CDMA technology is great for coverage, terrible for voice quality. HD Voice in Europe made for some of the best phone conversations I've ever had.
Back on track, feedback is most noticable (similar to the landline phone) when using the iPhone without a headset, but for me it's not an absolute criticality mainly because I use VoIP apps alot, so maybe it has desensitized me some over the past year.
But whenever I'm on a call, and the other person has me on speakerphone, I have alot of trouble talking because of the feedback loop caused. So the less of my voice I hear the better I can talk.
Have you tried a bluetooth headset yet?

  • How to preset copyright default in iphone camera

I would like to be able to preset the following information on my iphone 5 camera metadata settings so that they automatically appear on each photos' metadata no matter which app is in use:
Photographer name, copyright information, terms of use
I am looking to set this as a default, not to set it after the photo is taken (or make a copy with new metadata for export) as is currently offered by so many apps. Considering the ongoing hot debates about copyright infringement and photo sharing, one would think this would be available as a set-up screen under settings/privacy/camera... If it does not currently exist is there a work-around to do this?
Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide.

I am well aware that there is no such option and we are not talking about the "average user"... I am posing this question to address the current problem of professional (and amateur) photographers who use their iphone cameras for work/assignments/dissemination (some taking thousands of photographs a month) and have a great need to protect their copyright and intellectual property once it leaves their iphones. This is a huge issue being debated everywhere (have a look at the facebook/instagram debates over photo copyright) - There are many apps available to batch copyright photos retroactively but that is NOT my question either.  There should be an option to format this type of info from the start or per project before you take the picture to cut down on post-processing time...

  • Is the only way to zoom on iphone camera to pinch and spread the screen?

Hi there - was at a concert and was impossible to zoom the camera in on the stage using the whole finger spread action (as kept getting knocked etc) - is there a manual way (using buttons to do this) or am I stuck with this modern but not always pracitical method...or does anyone else have any tips for taking good photos at a concert using the iphone camera?

  • IPhone Camera App Crashed...

Hello, I was taking some pictures with the iPhone camera app when all of the sudden after taking the picture, the camera app closed and the iPhone screen showed the shutdown spinwheel for a few seconds and then returning the the unlock screen. When I reopened the picture app, the picture that I took before the crash was gone. What could have cause this crash issue? but most importantly where's the picture? is it gone or was transmitted to somewhere else (folder, camera roll, iCloud, etc.)?
    Thanks for the assistance!
P.S. I am looking at the iPhone logs and see that there was a springboard crash near the time of the crash. Can a springboard crash cause the iPhone to show a shutdown spinwheel and then leave you back in the log in screen?

    I am using iOS6.1.1
Can you try to load up the apples and try take some HDR photos.

  • HT201401 There is a dark spot in my iphone camera. My camera used to be clear, but about a few month ago it has changed by this dark spot. It's very annoying. Please, tell me how to fix it.

    Please help
My iphone camera got a dark spot. Im really sure that this happen to my cam not a screen.
A dark spot is very annoying when I want to take a picture.
I have tried to clean and looked for the way to fix it, but its not work.
If your iphone used to be like mine and you can fixed it, then teach me please.
    I really need some help.

Camera isn't functioning or has undesired image quality
If the screen shows a closed lens or black image, force quit the Camera app.
If you do not see the Camera app on the Home screen, try searching for it in Spotlight. If the camera does not show up in the search, check to make sure that Restrictions are not turned on by tappingSettings > General > Restrictions.
Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from any obstructions. Use a microfiber polishing cloth to clean the lens.
Cases can interfere with the camera and the flash. Try gently cleaning the lens with a clean dry cloth or removing the case if you see image or color-quality issues with photos.
Try turning iPhone off and then back on.
Tap to focus the camera on the subject. The image may pulse or briefly go in and out of focus as it adjusts.
Try to remain steady while focusing:
Still images: Remain steady while taking the picture. If you move too far in any direction, the camera automatically refocuses to the center.
Note: If you take a picture with iPhone turned sideways, it is automatically saved in landscape orientation.
Video: Adjust focus before you begin recording. You can also tap to readjust focus while recording. Exiting the Camera application while recording will stop recording and will save the video to the Camera Roll.
Note: Video-recording features are not available on original iPhone or iPhone 3G.
If your iPhone has a front and rear camera, try switching between them to verify if the issue persists on both.

  • There are photos on my iPhone camera roll that aren't mine. Has my security been compromised? How is this possible?

    Hi guys,
In the last week two photographs have appeared on my iPhone camera roll and the subsequently my photo stream, of which I have not taken or anyone else could not have possibly taken with my phone. The latest one, found this evening as my most recent photo, is of a man on an aeroplane.
I'm a bit spooked here for a couple of reasons:
    1. Have I been hacked and the photos are the least of my worries?
    2. Can this person/persons see my photographs?
I've used iPhoto on my mac to check the location of the photographs taken using the info facility; unfortunately the location is deemed 'unknown'.
I would love anyone's take on this and would appreciate someone from apple responding to this issue directly as it's clearly a potentially huge problem for iOS and mac users.
I've already taken the measure of changing my iCloud password but all the same would like some feedback here.
    Thanks all,
    Snoop84

I write on this topic because I have an almost same incident.
Back in 2009, and this is important because there was no icloud and photo streams at that time, I found on the camera roll of my iphone 3G photos that do not belong to me!
I try to clarify this, and everybody reacted as I was crazy or had no idea about computers, phones etc. I wrote in a technology forum and got similar reactions. In fact I am a more than average experienced pc and phone user. I could also guarantee that nobody touched my phone.
The only explanation I had is that the photos were transferred through a wireless network in a cafe on my phone through some strange leak. But they were indeed not mine.
There are more than 10 photos of a woman (pretty normal photos, bad quality selfies etc, no naked guys) of a guy making some measurements in an apartment, of an IKEA furtinure (probably for the apartment before) etc. etc. Pretty realistic photos, by no means downloaded from the internet.
And nothing to do with me!
I imported some of them in iPhoto and checked the location. Some of them were taken in Munich (where I live), one (of the new apartment) very close to the cafe I was connected and, interestingly, some (the selfies of the woman) in Palo Alto, CA.
I still do not know what that could be, I still have the photos but unfortunately not the phone anymore.
I would be more than happy to hear that there was this or the other leak at that time, but still haven't found any convincing answer on the internet.

  • ICloud Storage is almost full -- how do I clear my iPhone Camera Roll back-up without losing my photos?

Hi.  My iCloud storage is almost full and my iPhone Camera Roll seems to be the main culprit.  So...
    1.  I think that they way to free up my iCloud storage is to go into iCloud management and delete the back-up of the iPhone Camera Roll.  Right?
    2.  If yes, does deleting my iPhone Camera Roll from iCloud back-up delete the photos from my phone entirely?
    3.  Also, if I have already saved my iPhone photos to my iPhoto Library on my computer (via hard line sync), should I be worried about deleting the iCloud back-up of the iPhone Camera Roll?  (In other words, will deleting the back-up on my phone somehow tell my iPhoto to delete the copies of the photo as well?)
Any tips would be appreciated.  Thanks!!

Here's a tip: Part of what I do is photography, so I normally treat my iPhone as another camera. So, what I do is after I have finished taking some shots/videos with it, I download them to my computer (in my case, via Aperture). For everyone else, on the Mac there is the free Image Capture app, or the iPhoto app (which, if you have the latest version of Lion, it isn't built in there, so you would have to download it from the App Store for a fee).
I have made it a habit to use this method whenever I finish taking pictures at the end of a day (but that's just me). Also, keep in mind that the videos that you take on your iPhone can take up a lot of space very quickly (for instance, one minute of 720p HD video recorded on the iPhone takes up over 300 MB of space!), so you would need to keep that in mind when shooting videos. SO, to answer your questions above:
    1) Right.
    2) No, because it is only a backup, not the Camera Roll itself.
    3) You should not be worried about deleting the iCloud backup of the iPhone Camera Roll. What would happen (in terms of the method) is that you first would download them to iPhoto first, then delete the images from your Camera Roll. This then would free up your iCloud storage space. Lastly, placing them in your iPhoto app will not tell your backup on your phone to delete them. When you delete the images from your camera roll, your "backup" will be smaller in size than it was beforehand.... Hopefully that made sense.

  • Spot on the photos- while taking pictures from Iphone 4s against bright light.

    Hello,
I am using the iPhone 4s.. n i have noticed lately that i get a spot on the photos while taking pictures from iphone 4s against light/bright light.  If I take a normal photo with the lens not facing directly to the light, I dont get the spot.  I have attached some of d pics taken by me both against the direct sunlight and one against the night street lights.  Please let me know if this is a minor issue or shall I get it replcaed..
    Appreciate your help in advance.
    Happy New Year 2012.
    Thanks
    Prakash

There may be something corrupt in your camera roll, or a photo you saved from an email, text message or from the internet preventing them from importing.  You might try transferring them wirelessly to your computer using an app like PhotoSync.  If they transfer successfully, delete them from camera roll then take a new photo and see if iPhoto will import it now.

  • How can I get the many photos from my iPhone Camera Roll onto my iPad (no OS 7 on either) - thanks!

How can I get all of the photos from my iPhone Camera Roll onto my iPad3?  Both are running OS 5x and 6x.  Thank you -

    Hey David152,
Thanks for the question. First, you’ll want to import the photos to your personal computer:
iOS: Importing personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083
After doing so, you can then sync the photos over to your iPad:

Also, you can enable Photo Stream so that new photos taken with your iPhone will automatically appear on your iPad. For more information regarding Photo Stream, see this resource:
